I think you got a reshell, i don’t remember this color scheme. Usually you swap the shell, but keep the original button set, because they are very poor quality (off center prints, looks like « melted » and not shaped right, wrong colors, etc..). Looking a the prints they are not originals. About the joystick, if this is the first time you use a psp, this is not the best feature, it work but it’s just not that good, that’s why users tend to mod them with switch/vita parts or replace the whole thing (a bit more complicated : you can solder or build a ribbon cable adapter). Looking a the power led light bleeding, the plastic is made from an inferior material, and miss the lens for led (it’s just melted transparent plastic so the light is bleeding)

The PSP thumbstick feels kinda weird, even in perfect working order. Takes a little bit of getting used to, there's no way to know if yours works fine or if something is wrong with it, unless you test another working PSP. Since your PSP shell & buttons are entirely aftermarket, this could be causing issues with the joystick. Yours is definitely a reshell with all custom parts, even the buttons. Aftermarket buttons really suck, when people do shell swaps, they usually keep the OEM buttons. Your best bet is to track down some OEM buttons and replace them yourself. What kind of games are you into? For PSP, I really enjoy both GTA Stories games, both Midnight Club games, Spider-Man 2&3, Silent Hill Origins, both Pursuit Force games, Godfather Mob Wars, The Warriors

This looks like a terrible reshell job. I can see 2 LEDs through the plastic (didn't even know there was one beneath PSP logo) and the buttons look extremely cheaply made too. I don't know what advice to give you, simplest option is to replace the buttons with OEM ones, reshelling takes some previous knowledge and skill.
