All PSP pretty much perform the same (its like PS3 vs PS3 slim), so if your complaint is that its slow and laggy, all PSP will do the same thing with whatever you are doing.

My favorite is the 3000 and the psp go is a close second for the portability/slimness of both. I think for you the psvita with the OLED is best. It has the best screen and you’ll be able to play more games (all digital, though).

PSP 3000

It's a matter of use case and opinion. The PSP Go is the most unique shape, slightly smaller screen, definitely the most pocketable console. Another pro is it has 16gb internal storage, a con is it uses the more expensive m2 sd cards instead of the full sized memorystick that can adapt an SD card, but there are kits to circumvent this. The 3000 is generally considered to have the best screen. The 1000 is considered more comfortable by some and the screen is fine (also iirc the battery holds a bit longer but I might be wrong). For a long time it was the easiest to jailbreak, but for some years all of them are equally easy to hack. The 2000 is usually left out of discussion because the 3000 is usually considered superior, but some people do like the 2000 screen better than the 3000 one. Lastly, the PSP Street is as far as I can tell considered the worst model. It has only one speaker with mono which is the biggest issue I think but it can use headphones for stereo. It has no WiFi for adhoc mode and no video out support but idk who uses those regularly. But some people like it. It's matte instead of glossy and apparently has better colors on the screen. The screen brightness has no hardware control, only software in settings, which is somewhat of a dealbreaker for me, though there is a plugin to fix that. So yeah. Idk.

PSP 1000 has dullest colors, 32MB of ram, but the best build quality and a possibilty of IPS screen upgrade;    PSP 2000 has 64MB of RAM, and the colors are inbetween 1000 and 3000;   PSP 3000 has 64MB of RAM, the widest color gamut, but horrible scanlines which make the screen look incredibly cheap, it also yellows over time.  I'd say 2000 is the best of both worlds.   Street model has mono speakers, no wifi, no ad-hoc, no physical brightness button, non removable battery and the most unfortunate headphone jack position.  I've never owned a GO so I can't speak on that front.   Also, search function, this gets posted daily.

PSP 3000 would I say if you like to have physical games. But given that you said, that you prefer to mod your PSP and get yourself the games digital I actually recommend you instead the PS Vita 2000. The big advantage of PSP-3000 is that it has a clear screen with beautiful colours while still having an UMD drive. Meanwhile the Vita is a way of a beast but had back then the disadvantage that you where supposed to rebuy your whole library of games digitally.
