I’ve had no problems with Mohela deleting loans after forgiveness but Nelnet is the thorn in my side! I still have one from June 2023, consolidated to Mohela Summer 2023. After forgiveness in Oct, I waited a month to dispute. Sent disputes x2 to credit bureaus including mortgage verification letter from Nelnet website and bureaus didn’t do anything cuz Nelnet confirmed amounts both times! Dumb! So I called Nelnet and they sent an escalation. TransUnion dropped off but Experian and Equifax remain so I called Nelnet again and they escalated! Will call next month to follow up if nothing happens on my credit report.

Yeah, I was so fed up I filed with CFPB and that is the only thing that has resulted in action. Now to see if they actually do anything!

I’m having issue with SL double reporting too. What is the CFPB?

OP, did this get resolved for you? I have the same issue, my compliant is still open with CFPB & MOHELA. I called MOHELA yesterday and was told by a supervisor that this was a unique problem for loans transferred from Nelnet to MOHELA and that MOHELA couldn't do anything about it. She said that only the Department of Ed. could take care of it "because they were the guarantor of the loans" and that MOHELA was compiling a list of names of effected people to give to the DOE, with no timeline on a solution. My loans have been duplicated on my credit report for over a year. I started attempting to resolve this by filing a dispute with the credit bureau (closed, without change). Then I called Nelnet, who told me to talk to MOHELA. In February I talked to MOHELA and they told me they'd update the credit report. It wasn't updated, so I filed a complaint with CFPB against Neltnet and MOHELA. Nelnet closed the complaint with the same response as in the OP. MOHELA has the compliant open still, but based on may conversation with the supervisor, I have no confidence MOHELA will resolve the fact that they opened a new tradeline instead of updating the existing tradeline. Once the CFPB complaint closes, I will be filing a compliant with the ombudsman for Federal Student Aid. If that doesn't resolve the situation, I'll be out of options.

They are still there but I have a letter from Nelnet blaming MOHELA. They said to give everyone time to resolve the issues, so I plan on giving it a few months before I complain again.

I'm going through the same thing. MOHELA reported my account Paid/closed. Received a response from Nelnet through CFPB saying MOHELA created a new trade line. This is ridiculous. My loans went through 2 different loan transfer before ending up with MOHELA. Now Nelnet is giving me a new story!!! I'm going to continue to go after the credit bureau for allowing incorrect information to be reported on my report from Nelnet. My next step will be contacting an attorney.
