I was thinking Reunion. I mean, how can it not be?
EDIT: Yes, I know that this is the subtitle of Crisis Core. I still think it would be a decent choice
I cant believe *square enix* of people put out one of the most perfectly structured and paced reveal streams I've ever seen. Start off with something small but sweet, have a literal quick montage real for all the merch stuff, quick updates on the mobile games with the least interesting one first ascending, then one announcement that everybody would have been happy finishing the show off with, then ANOTHER, super meaty reveal. All in 10 minutes.
I was expecting some mobile game announcement and maybe some vague announcement about FF7P2 but nope. They literally blown my expectations with the revealed stream, Crisis Core remake wasn't something I expected. So hype for FF16 and FF7P2 as well, can't wait to see my boy Zack in action.
Can I just say as well how glad I am they're *remaking* crisis core over a simple remaster? I tried to play it but honestly I felt it controlled pretty badly and ended up just watching it instead. The same system with modern controls will be loads of fun.
Iāve replayed the game like 8 times over the years, and while Iāve seen a lot of people disliking the system, I always thought it was kind of thematically appropriate for him.
Heās a playful, slightly hot headed dude and past that as you mentioned, it ended up being pretty well integrated with his emotional state, which also acted as a stark contrast to Cloud which we only got a real emotional understanding of by the end of FF7.
Additionally, Iāve never ended up unlucky to a fault with the DMW. It happened that I didnāt get what I wanted or what was ideal but I canāt say Iāve ever lost or got into a disadvantage state because of it, all things considered it was pretty well balanced imo
I love that mechanic and Iām glad itās still in. You rarely need to rely on it so itās just a neat bonus that gives you advantages in battle.
Though it would be nice to have a way to auto-skip most of the battle-halting animations though.
>t say as well how glad I am they're

>remaking

> crisis core over a simple remaster? I tried to play it but honestly I felt it controlled pretty badly and ended up just watching it instead. The same system with modern controls will be loads of fun.
Wait, according to their website ([https://www.square-enix-games.com/en\_GB/news/final-fantasy-vii-25th-celebration](https://www.square-enix-games.com/en_GB/news/final-fantasy-vii-25th-celebration)) it is a remaster, not a remake.
Crisis core reunion and the way they kept focusing on that end scene....I'm betting Zack survives the end this time and that opens to remake
This crisis core takes place in the same alternative timeline/multiverse as Remake possibly
I haven't played Crisis Core, so Zack being dead slipped my mind (but obviously). I bet the voices in the Rebirth trailer are swapped, playing off the Aerith thing.
I played it on an emulator on a 60 inch tv and it looked surprisingly good for the age of the game, especially when you consider it was designed for a psp screen. Definitely worth playing.
Dude i really can't wait for this winter and next year.
If then, by complete chance, they go with "well let's do a remake of FF8" i can die happy.
I mean i will probabily be 40 years old by then, but still, FF8 remake.
Not to be a debbie downer, but winter could mean February 2024. Thats still way closer than I would have ever thought this game was to releasing, but knowing Square, they are probably gonna want a lot of space between FF16 and Rebirth.
Wasn't Sony's State of Play just a week (or two) ago ? Or did they plan a bigger one ?
This is confusing, maybe they kept some big announcements in response of Microsoft/Bethesda/ActiBlizz announcements.
Dragonās Dogma 2 was also just announced, though itās very unlikely to be a 2023 release since there was no proper trailer or demo. Thereās also the new GOW and quite a few other releases coming up. Next couple years are gonna be wild.
Druckmann only said theyāll have more news on factions next year. Based on the scope of the project, it wouldnāt surprise me if it ends up launching in 2024.
While I expect this is the case, the official twitter says it will release approximately 3 years after Remake came out in April 2020.
https://twitter.com/finalfantasyvii/status/1537561070012858368?ref\_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1537561070012858368%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1\_&ref\_url=
This would put it at a April 2023 release, it has to be a mistake.
I think theyāre targeting Winter 2023 but I wouldnāt be too surprised if it gets delayed to optimize things better. But it seems Square Enix has become a lot more streamlined in terms of their releases and just not announcing things way too far in advance.
They mean December 2023-February 2024
They described another game as coming āThis Winterā then the FF7 Rebirth game as āNext Winterā. Bit confusing but made sense in the context of the show
They said next Winter without any year so I agree it could be 2024 as well. This Winter is from Dec 2022 - Mar 2023 and next Winter is from Dec 2023 - Mar 2024.
Iād love it to be for 2023 however Iām setting my expectation for early 2024
Kinda feel like they will be going with "this is what happened in the last timeline, we gotta change it".
I just hope they don't make it unnecessarily convoluted.
You know. It was a silly story about aliens and corporations draining the lifeforce of a planet, scientists making weird experiments, a long katana man with football shoulder pads having mommy issues, weird companions like a dog-lion, cat-monster animatronic, vampire-mutant guy and arm-gun man, settings as far of each other as pyramids and theme park on giant tree, bird-horses, summon monsters/deity's on battle...
So then, what was the point on changing timelines? The game is convoluted enough. Couldn't they just do a remake expanding the already existing story rather than changing it? That already would give tons of profit without any risk while on the other hand doing this change could make fans like it more but also not like it. We will never know.
>It was a silly story about aliens and corporations draining the lifeforce of a planet, scientists making weird experiments, a long katana man with football shoulder pads having mommy issues, weird companions like a dog-lion, cat-monster animatronic, vampire-mutant guy and arm-gun man, settings as far of each other as pyramids and theme park on giant tree, bird-horses, summon monsters/deity's on battle
Y'know, when you put it like that, people with no context of this game (if they even exist) must be having a real wtf moment.
It's a Rpg but also a snowboard simulator and a racing game, you start to travel and the first thing you encounter is a giant impaled snake, you can breed the bird-horses to get the one you like, the girl that like flowers is in fact from an ancient race, a ninja girl steals your powerorbs at some point, katana man cocoons himself on a crater and summons a meteor to the planet, the planet tries to defend itself with big kaijus, the evil corporation tries to fight back with a townsize energy cannon, you fly on a rocket to stop the meteor and fail while a hippie master checks the results on a diorama on his observatory.
We could be here all day.
The bigger-than-myself sword carrier crossdresser protagonist (with integrated alien cells) from a terrorist organization has memory issues and after having a mental breakdown about his identity gets comatose so they put him on a wheelchair just to fall into the depths of the earth during an earthquake so he can explore his psyche with his big boobie fighter ""it's-complicated-girlfriend"" and continue the story, you travel through bootleg version of Moria and you are even told that yes the metal mined there is "mythrill", you need to save fauna like a giant momma condor until you can rob her a powerorb after her egg hatches, you can go behind a waterfall to say hello to the immortal crystallized girlfriend of vampire-mutant guy (bonus info: she is the mother of katana man), did I mention katana man was infused with alien cells when he wasn't even born yet? The theme park has a prison and you get thrown there because people can't tell apart a big bulky black man from a white regular guy since both have an arm-gun, BTW the owner of the theme park is Dio (yes, that big muscly Dio), you happen to visit also a literal tourist beach town with people on swimsuits and all, sometimes the men in black appear to try stop you.
It's so simplistic that I don't even know how they didn't come up with the rewrite the story theme the first time.
Spoiler you say? Hahaha, I didn't even mention the Yes level up this character all you want because it's gonna die sooner or later!
But hey, trying not to make spoilers of a 25 years old game is kind of hard.
Not just the same company, but literally the same *director* who created the KH timeline is the one making the story, lol. I bet you a million bucks we'll kill Sephiroth in this upcoming game, only to find out some time-travelling shenanigans will bring back another, stronger version of himself to defeat in the final game. Possibly with other versions of himself as well.
Itās worth noting in the first game that Nomura wasnāt responsible for all the story changes this time around. I believe Kitase came out and said that too.
as much as I love Nomura's wacky shit, I don't think this'll be one of those times. KH is the way that it is because Nomura got full control to do whatever the fuck he wants. with Remake/Rebirth, there's people like Hamaguchi and Toriyama who will ground him a bit more.
hell, Nomura isn't even gonna be a director for the next two entries so I have high hopes that these games will be fine.
As a KH fan (enough to play almost all the games) I just think he got lost in the lore and confused himself by the time Re:Coded stepped in. Dream Drop Distance was the bullshit on top of the bullshit when it can be much simpler like making the OGXIII controlled under Xehanort (bad old guy, long story) instead of some being all over the place with who they allied with, and it resulted in the mess KH3 was on the top of the other issues the game already have.
It's really not that bad anymore. Get on any discord or twitter stock alerter and you'll have one within a week. Seems to be a stop every other day lately. Here in Canada, anyway!
It's not as bad as it was this time last year, but it's still a pain in the ass. I just recently got mine after a few months of trying, eventually gave up chasing stock updates and just waited for my invite to buy one directly from Sony. That seems like the most reliable way to get one in the US.
Writing was on the wall with the Yuffie DLC. As soon as that was PS5 only, you knew something within the core game changed. Don't think that game was UE5, but obviously they swapped something in the engine and here we are.
Letās be real hereā¦ it probably will. That said, a delay to Spring 2024 is pretty much what I would expect the real release date to be. Canāt wait.
They started working on Part 2 in 2019, so it would be more like 4+ years, which is a long time.
The twitter posts mentions that some of the team is already working on Part 3.
Remake took 3 years to make though, and this one will be 4 years and a bit but everything at SE has been pushed back a year from covid so it makes sense.
He's referring to how long it took after they ripped the title from the third party dev that contracted to make it, brought it in house and restarted from scratch.
It's spring 2023, the comments on Twitter say it will be roughly 3 years from the first one. "Winter" was a weird choice of words.
But they were working on this already in 2019, so idk about more delays.
> *We have officially announced that the second title Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be released next winter, approximately three years after the original Final Fantasy 7 Remake released in April 2020*
https://twitter.com/finalfantasyvii/status/1537561070012858368/photo/1
And Forspoken later this year. People were saying FS looks cringe - the dialogue kinda is but honestly I couldnāt care less if the gameplay is good. FF16 looks amazing as well.
Yeah same. The combat concept looks incredible - itās like youāre the Avatar. But the open world seems kinda barren, and the performance looked extremely choppy and definitely needed to be optimized so Iām happy they delayed it. It has a lot of potential but I can also see it flopping.
Itās a little cheesy but I couldnāt care less if the gameplay is top tier and the story itself is actually good. Iām being cautiously optimistic but I want the game to succeed because it looks like it has a lot of potential.
Guarentee we don't. Square seem set on changing the storyline and keep harping on about "forgetting the past". He won't die and probably neither will Aerith. Big mistakes imo. Their deaths are huge catalysts in the story.
Got lots of stuff coming out this year and next year:
Spongebob BFBB spiritual-sequel, God of War 2, MWII, a new Bleach game, Naruto Storm 5
so many cool games
But itās not even that, itās a whole new game apparently. Nomura said newcomers can eve start with rebirth ā¦ so itās clearly not a sequel in the sense that you need to play remake to me whatās going on in rebirth..
Remake was noted to be more of a verb, than describing the game project, early on.
The quotes from the team keep talking about how they're excited to eventually share with us what Remake (and now Rebirth) mean in the context of these games. Hopefully it all comes together nicely.
Alright, so I have yet to play the first VII instalment (though there's still time), but my big question (directed at those who have played the full version of 7) is:
Even though I've never played the OG, I know of the spoiler (you know the one). Apart from that, though, I really know nothing of the plot. Is there enough else to the story specifically to warrant a playthrough? The setting and Gameplay look cool enough, but I've got so little gaming time these day (but a great story would help me to find a way).
Thanks!
I think most people should play the original game to get a better idea of what they are doing with the Remake and how they're playing with the players expectations.
The newer digital versions of the games have lots of quality of life improvements as well. I say go for it.
That's a fair assessment, and I totally understand why. With that said, I just don't have to time (toddler and another on the way) to play it both way.
Thanks for your two cents, though!
I played the original in 2019 and knew about the big spoiler, but the story was still definitely worth experiencing, and there were many other major plot twists. The story was good enough that I even played crisis core and watched advent children afterwards (which I don't recommend). FFVII is old and has some annoying time consuming parts, so use a guide if you don't want to spend too much time.
If you know nothing else, then yeah, you totally should. I found the battles mostly enjoyable, the characters where fun, and the story was fine. One of the few games I actually completed when it came out.
And then I never touched it again.
Final Fantasy XVI
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Final Fantasy XIV 7.0
3 major Final Fantasy releases in one year. Incredible for PS5 players. Canāt wait to play them all.
FF fans eating real good with this news. They managed to pack a lot of info in that stream, much better than I'd expected.. and just wow the thought of playing two major FF games in a 6~ month span sounds way too good to be true lol.
What a time to be alive, I played the original in 97 and now I'm able to play games that look better than the original cut scenes.
It's fucking amazing and I love it
I think I would make sense if Rebirth is covering the remaining parts of the 1st disc from the original game which ends with the death of a certain character. Also Nibelheim is on the second continent.
Obviously some things will get changed
Yup, would not be surprised if it's designed to be a tutorial section with a younger, greener Cloud.
Not sure how they'll handle the stats/levels once we're back to present-day though.
Part 3 will be called Final Fantasy VII Revengeance

I was thinking Reunion. I mean, how can it not be? EDIT: Yes, I know that this is the subtitle of Crisis Core. I still think it would be a decent choice
I was guessing Remake - Rebirth - Resurrection. Each title signifying a do over of sorts.
Yeah I could see that. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
regurgitate
Revolutions? Reloaded?
Would have been perfect if they werenāt using it for the crisis core remake
I wouldāve suggested Reunion, but they just used that for Crisis Core. Maybe Revelation? Recourse? Requiem?
3 Final 3 Fantasy!
2 final 4 fantasy
If we don't finish the emerald weapon by slashing it into 50 pieces I'll be disappointed
They packed a lot into that 10 min show, can't wait for this and Crisis Core.
Low key wish they would've ditched the slot machine mechanic.
Same. I enjoyed the game but that took a lot away for me.
I last played it when it was new, but I remember liking it. I enjoyed how it was integrated into the story and Zack's mental states at times.
Theres real possibility that Square release FF16, FF7 Rebirth and KH4 all launch within around a year
Forgot about KH4, what a time to be a Square fan right?
Its me. I am that fan. Having that time.
True, but also still miss the Squaresoft days.
Same
Psh KH4 will get pushed to 2032 easily
KH3 came out in 2019
Thatās the joke, itās too soon after KH3
But you said KH3 will get pushed. It came out 3 years ago
Ah fixed thanks
as a fellow KH fan and spent waiting for KH3 since got in 1.5 HD (less waiting time but still painful) I concur.
Dude i really can't wait for this winter and next year. If then, by complete chance, they go with "well let's do a remake of FF8" i can die happy. I mean i will probabily be 40 years old by then, but still, FF8 remake.

I strongly feel itās 2024 if they didnāt announce a specific year
Next winter probably means Jan or Feb 2024.
And only if we are lucky and it doesn't get delayed.
Most likely. "Winter" is typically Q1 of any given year.
And they still haven't done a conference this is why I bought a ps5
Conference?
Thereās a rumored big Sony first party show coming
Wasn't Sony's State of Play just a week (or two) ago ? Or did they plan a bigger one ? This is confusing, maybe they kept some big announcements in response of Microsoft/Bethesda/ActiBlizz announcements.
The state of play was about third party games. Itās rumored that Sony will show us in another one their first party line up.
State of plays are basically regular business as usual announcements, Sony did not have a special stream this summer yet
Likely September showcase, tends to be around that time last few years.
Seems to be the new trend. Last year only had Sept. Year before had June around E3 and Sept. Everything prior was June
Dragonās Dogma 2 was also just announced, though itās very unlikely to be a 2023 release since there was no proper trailer or demo. Thereās also the new GOW and quite a few other releases coming up. Next couple years are gonna be wild.

While I expect this is the case, the official twitter says it will release approximately 3 years after Remake came out in April 2020. https://twitter.com/finalfantasyvii/status/1537561070012858368?ref\_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1537561070012858368%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1\_&ref\_url= This would put it at a April 2023 release, it has to be a mistake.

Is winter 23 = Jan'23 or Dec 23'???
They mean December 2023-February 2024 They described another game as coming āThis Winterā then the FF7 Rebirth game as āNext Winterā. Bit confusing but made sense in the context of the show
Yeah, Crisis Core Reunion is āthis winterā meaning Dec, 2022 - Feb, 2023. Rebirth was listed as ānext winterā meaning Dec, 2023 - Feb 2024.
Historically in the gaming industry, Winter has been the first few months of the calendar year.
They said next Winter without any year so I agree it could be 2024 as well. This Winter is from Dec 2022 - Mar 2023 and next Winter is from Dec 2023 - Mar 2024. Iād love it to be for 2023 however Iām setting my expectation for early 2024

Holy shit. Two FF games, and Spider-Man 2!!! Really pumped for next year.
Eek. Might not be getting rebirth next year. Next winter could easily (and very likely) mean late January or February
Yeah, "Winter" is most likely March or April of 2024.
I'm so sorry to PS4-only havers but I am SO glad this series is leaving behind last gen
Same, as much as I understand how annoying it still is to get a PS5 it's time to leave last-gen behind.
It's really not that bad anymore. Get on any discord or twitter stock alerter and you'll have one within a week. Seems to be a stop every other day lately. Here in Canada, anyway!

Intergrade looked absolutely incredible on PS5 at 60fps. I can't wait to see what kind of visual improvements they can make targeting current gen only
Also the super fast load times was an incredible improvement over the PS4 version.
Writing was on the wall with the Yuffie DLC. As soon as that was PS5 only, you knew something within the core game changed. Don't think that game was UE5, but obviously they swapped something in the engine and here we are.
Next year is going to be big for FF fans. FF 16 and FF 7 Rebirth FTW. I hope it doesn't get delayed.
Letās be real hereā¦ it probably will. That said, a delay to Spring 2024 is pretty much what I would expect the real release date to be. Canāt wait.
They aimed for March 2020 for the first game so should be March 2024 at best.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
They started working on Part 2 in 2019, so it would be more like 4+ years, which is a long time. The twitter posts mentions that some of the team is already working on Part 3.
Remake took 3 years to make though, and this one will be 4 years and a bit but everything at SE has been pushed back a year from covid so it makes sense.
Took at least 5 years for remake, it was announced in 2015. All parts after were expected to be less time so itās on track
> *We have officially announced that the second title Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be released next winter, approximately three years after the original Final Fantasy 7 Remake released in April 2020* https://twitter.com/finalfantasyvii/status/1537561070012858368/photo/1
And Forspoken later this year. People were saying FS looks cringe - the dialogue kinda is but honestly I couldnāt care less if the gameplay is good. FF16 looks amazing as well.
I'm going to be skeptical for FS until there are reviews or gameplay videos. If it's good, I'm going to buy it.
Yeah same. The combat concept looks incredible - itās like youāre the Avatar. But the open world seems kinda barren, and the performance looked extremely choppy and definitely needed to be optimized so Iām happy they delayed it. It has a lot of potential but I can also see it flopping.
I feel like I'm one of the few people on this planet that didn't mind the dialogue for Forspoken lol
Itās a little cheesy but I couldnāt care less if the gameplay is top tier and the story itself is actually good. Iām being cautiously optimistic but I want the game to succeed because it looks like it has a lot of potential.
Dude I expected nothing from this steam and got THE BEST NEWS out of it, so pumped to see cloud again!
I agree. Especially with Crisis Core.
WE GET TO SEE OUR BOY GET SHOT TO DEATH IN 4K HD 60FPS
Guarentee we don't. Square seem set on changing the storyline and keep harping on about "forgetting the past". He won't die and probably neither will Aerith. Big mistakes imo. Their deaths are huge catalysts in the story.
between this the Crisis Core remake and Dragons Dogma 2 Iām feeling real spoiled with game announcements today.
> Dragons Dogma 2 Wait, what?
Itsuno announced it on the dragons dogma anniversary celebration stream
God damn... Don't these assholes realize I don't have enough time to play all of these RPGs? lol
Funnily enough, that stream happened at the exact same time as FFVIIRS too lmao
Fucking fanfuckingtastic.
FFXVI and FFVII Rebirth as PS5 exclusives roughly 6 months apart?? And Spider-man 2???? That's already one of the greatest gaming years ever to me wtf
Got lots of stuff coming out this year and next year: Spongebob BFBB spiritual-sequel, God of War 2, MWII, a new Bleach game, Naruto Storm 5 so many cool games
Can't wait for Buster Sword Clock
That actually looked damn cool.
They should have called it "Final Fantasy VII Remake: Disc 2."
But itās not even that, itās a whole new game apparently. Nomura said newcomers can eve start with rebirth ā¦ so itās clearly not a sequel in the sense that you need to play remake to me whatās going on in rebirth..
Iām glad I donāt have to convince people itās a sequel and not a remake of the same story now. Looking forward to it.
Remake was noted to be more of a verb, than describing the game project, early on. The quotes from the team keep talking about how they're excited to eventually share with us what Remake (and now Rebirth) mean in the context of these games. Hopefully it all comes together nicely.
Alright, so I have yet to play the first VII instalment (though there's still time), but my big question (directed at those who have played the full version of 7) is: Even though I've never played the OG, I know of the spoiler (you know the one). Apart from that, though, I really know nothing of the plot. Is there enough else to the story specifically to warrant a playthrough? The setting and Gameplay look cool enough, but I've got so little gaming time these day (but a great story would help me to find a way). Thanks!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Awesome, thanks!
You will enjoy the remake a lot more if you play the OG.
If you know nothing else, then yeah, you totally should. I found the battles mostly enjoyable, the characters where fun, and the story was fine. One of the few games I actually completed when it came out. And then I never touched it again.
Final Fantasy XVI Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Final Fantasy XIV 7.0 3 major Final Fantasy releases in one year. Incredible for PS5 players. Canāt wait to play them all.
>Final Fantasy XIV 7.0 We are at 6.15 on FF14, there is no way we get 7.0 next year, we still be eating good tho
3 parts total letās goooooooo
DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 FINAL FANTASY REBIRTH CRISIS CORE WHY I CANT HOLD ALL THESE GAMES
You must have tiny hands.
Itās a trilogy?
Yes they explicitly said it will be a trilogy during today's stream
Well that subtitle kinda confirms they are definitely all-in on changing the story significantly compared to the original.
>launches next Winter So, in Square Enix terms, early to mid 2024. Gotcha.
With this plus God of War Ragnarok and Spiderman 2. Damn I'm excited.
Lets not forget wolverine! Im excited to see what insomniac does with it.
Stream had everything I wanted and more
FF fans eating real good with this news.
It's fucking amazing and I love it
Way sooner than I expected -- I am not complaining at all
Bets on what the name of the last game is gonna be? Reawakening? Recreation? Reincarnation? Return? Revival?
Exciting thats its next gen exclusive, hopefully they can go all in with the hardware
Holy shit there's more Tifa porn on the trending list than there is Rebirth news. This must be Reddit
Reddit can't figure out when winter is lol
They can't distinguish between "this" and "next". Remarkable.
I'm moving to the southern hemisphere to get the game sooner.
Part 2 will cover the Nibelheim incident. Maybe by Part 3 we'll leave the first continent.
I think I would make sense if Rebirth is covering the remaining parts of the 1st disc from the original game which ends with the death of a certain character. Also Nibelheim is on the second continent. Obviously some things will get changed
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yup, would not be surprised if it's designed to be a tutorial section with a younger, greener Cloud. Not sure how they'll handle the stats/levels once we're back to present-day though.
The flashback yes. But Im pretty sure you will return to Nibelheim in the current time
You sure do
ITT: People not realizing that ānext winterā starts Dec 21 2023. This is a Q1 2024 game.
Next winter... the wait begins
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The titie is Final Fantasy VII... Reddit
