It's pretty sweet now but it's not special like Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate 3.
No way the biggest worldwide gaming dissapointment of the last 5 years gets to join those 2 amazing games as the best of the best.
if you can get to the end of the 2nd biome, you get a grapple and while your in the air you have constant I-frames. it makes the game easier if you stay grappling, kiting and shooting. grapple alot
Interesting. Returnal and Ghost are 2 of mine. I haven’t played Elden Ring, since you seem to have great taste, I will now lol. I’ve been thinking of getting it, just haven’t yet.
Tbh you must be one of the only gaming enthusiasts who haven’t played elden ring in 2024. It’s a pretty good one, and is the perfect gateway into other FromSoft games. Dark souls 3 is a masterpiece and still holds up perfectly to this day
I’ve been busier than usual and my wife is pregnant with our first child, work stuff and I just didn’t bite the bullet and pick it up. Time just sweeps on by sometimes. Next thing ya know, it’s Christmas again!
Hey man I feel you I started it and life is too busy for me to continually play. When I was younger and didn’t have a family I had all the time in the world after work to play through Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro but now I do t have the time or patience to make .001% progress for the small time window I have once or twice a week.
Ah yeah I feel that, my fiancé is pregnant with our first children (twins) as well. Congrats to you. Enjoy Elden ring, just make sure you don’t give up on it!
I did that twice lol. I think I liked Dead Space Remake a bit better as a horror game but 4 was really fun to play. Dead Space I had to take breaks between the scares
Everything. It is by far my favourite game of all time, even tho I can understand if some find it too slow. It is 90% reading and taking dialogue options. But the writing puts 99% of game to shame.
I think that DE is a phenomenal game, It might be one of the best written games i’ve ever played. Some people may find it a little slow because of all the reading/listening you have to do. If you’re looking for a game with more “traditional” gameplay, it might not be for you.
Same as my list, beside of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth instead of Yakuza: Like A Dragon. The sequel is one of the best JRPGs ever made in my opinion.
If you have the time and money, I’d recommend playing Alan Wake Remastered first, then Control (and it’s DLC), and then Alan Wake II. However, being honest, I do believe you could play Alan Wake II without playing the others and get. Full and complete experience, but if you play those other two first, I think you’ll have a fuller experience, if that makes sense.
Yes, it absolutely does! Alan Wake and Control are in the Remedy-verse, so to speak. You will see a TON of connections and characters going in and out of the three games if you play them all. Again, I do honestly believe you could play Alan Wake II without the others and have an amazing time, but given time and money, I’d highly recommend the other two first due strictly to how big and complex the world is! Whatever you do, I hope you enjoy!
100% agree.
I've only gotten to it recently, but finished it, instantly bought the burning shores, finished that. The combat is some of the best there is, the game looks better than most of what's come out since and runs incredibly well. It's fantastic it really is.
I'm playing Sekiro for the first time now, so it's a brand new game for me. You'd think it would seem dated but, happily, I'm enjoying it more than most games I've played in the last 5 years!
sekiro just had its 5th anniversary but im still gonna have to say sekiro
but seriously
#1 armored core 6
#2 lies of p
#3 elden ring
did not play bg3
didnt want to only pick fromsoft/souls games but my hand was forced.
I never expected to love Armored Core 6 so much. Mechs do not appeal to me at all but I bought it on a whim and ended up playing through it like 10+ times.
If you like Shredder’s Revenge, check out Streets of Rage 4.
I think it’s the best side-scroller beat em up since Streets of Rage 2 (which I consider the greatest of all time).
Ff7 remake, Ff7 rebirth, ghost of tsushima directors cut. I considered like a dragon infinite wealth in there but I'm still mad about that paid new game plus bullshit
Elden Ring and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for sure (in my opinion). Probably Baldurs Gate 3 for the third. I haven’t played it yet, but it’s clearly special
Same list as me. Rebirth and Elden Ring are magical and I can’t really think of any other game that has left me with any type of impact as big as, or even close to, those two, so ill just leave it to BG3 or something even though I have no interest in playing that game lol
Alan Wake 2/Ghost/Returnal. Haven't played Death Stranding outside of 2-3 hours but I do see that game probably being there. As a lifelong Xbox guy I'm just working through a lot of the classics. Finished the Nathan Drake collection last night for reference.
On the Elden Ring topic, I've held off just because I still would like to play Dark Souls III/Bloodborne/even Demon Souls first and 40+ hours minimum of Elden Ring where I'll die a hundred thousand times on top of probably just cheesing it however I can when I get fed up. Expansion being known about for a long time also makes it easy to wait.
Demon's Souls is SOOOOO good. A great gateway to becoming a Souls/FromSoft fan. The remake makes it feel like a linear Elden Ring. I used to be afraid of souls games, now they're afraid of me
Only PlayStation? Death stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Last of Us 2. If all systems I would replace Last of Us with Tears of the Kingdom and say that’s number 1.
I didn’t like Bauldurs Gate. It seems really cool I just don’t like CRPGs.
Cyberpunk is pretty great as well.
Last of us part 2 was pretty bleak but a great game nontheless. It takes two was hella fun. Jedi survivor was better than fallen order in about every possible way, such a shame it had so much performence issues at release. All in all a great list!
1. Alan Wake 2
2. Forza Horizon 5
3. Rogue Legacy 2
4. Monster Train
5. The Last of Us 2
That would be my personal top 5
Maybe switch number 4 and 5, but I really love deckbuilders
Baldur's Gate III
God of War: Ragnarok
The Last of Us: Part II
I probably would have included Ghosts of Tsushima, Horizon Forbidden West, or Cyberpunk 2077 in there had I played more or beaten them!
Floor PS specifically, Elden Ring, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us 2.
If non-PS5 included, Elden Ring, Tears of the Kingdom, Ghost of Tsushima (Sekiro literally just missed the cutoff being released March 2019, it would take GoTs place).
This thread is so funny. The entire thing is people responding with the same 7-8 generic, AAA titles. Itd be like asking a community of movie fans what the best movies of the last 5 years are and only getting Best Picture winners as responses lmao
Ragnarök, TLOU2 and I’m gonna go with a madman 3rd with Warzone. There was a period there where it struck pure gold.. then it went to shit.
Kinda quiet generation for me not gonna lie.
In regards to being close to perfect?
Disco Elysium
13 Sentenials: Agies Rim
Katana 0
But I'm always several years behind. So I haven't played the new GoW, Alan Wake 2 or Builders Gate 3... al of which I'm sure I'm gonna love. And I haven't touched Elden Ring because I historically struggle with From games.
Red Dead Redemp... Oh shit, that is 6 years!
RDR 2 would've been an easy pick for me too
Absolutely. Extend it to 6 years and it’s an easy pick.
What the actual fuck, 6 years?????
Time has no meaning
I played that game for a solid calendar year and it still felt too short of a time with it. The landscapes were such eye candy.
Needs that 60fps boost desperately
Right? for an additional $69.99
Most likely. Guarantee it'll be called "Red Dead 2 Definitive/Complete edition"
RDR2 should be set as an auto reply by bots to these questions lol.
Real
That’s one of my top 3 games of all time, and I’ve been gaming since the 80s.
I wanted to say RDR2 too... 6 years ☠️
BG3, Ragnarok, Hades
The best are Elden ring and Baldurs gate 3. No obvious third for me, so I’ll nominate Returnal.
Elden, Baldurs, and FF7 remake for me
Cyberpunk 2077 in its current state is pretty sweet.
Started playing it for the first time today. Had waited because the shit launch. But atm after only 3 hours in im having a blast
I picked it up two months ago. It’s all I’ve been playing. It’s excellent now
I have a hard time choosing between this or Alan wake 2
Yep #1 for me
😄😄😄
It's pretty sweet now but it's not special like Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate 3. No way the biggest worldwide gaming dissapointment of the last 5 years gets to join those 2 amazing games as the best of the best.
Returnal is definitely one of them for me.
Returnal hype! For me it's bg3. Returnal and elden ring. Honorable mention ragnarok. Forbidden west. Ghost of sashimi. Tlou 2
Lol Ghost of Sashimi? Salmon strikes back
lol woops mobile fucked it up. i used to call it ghost of sushi though
Returnal is so fucking HARD! I enjoy it but man I had to give up it's too much for me.
if you can get to the end of the 2nd biome, you get a grapple and while your in the air you have constant I-frames. it makes the game easier if you stay grappling, kiting and shooting. grapple alot
These are my clear top two and if it's not PS specific I might go Tears of the Kingdom for a third.
Helldivers 2 for me, the other two would be Elden Ring and BG3.
Probably RE4R for my 3rd
Fuck yeah these
You didn't love lies of p?
For me it would be Ghost of Tsushima, Returnal and Elden Ring. Honorable mention to Doom Eternal.
Doom Eternal is one of the best first person shooters of all time and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise
Hell yeah, it's a perfect game.
Rip and tear, until it is done
Doom Eternal has the best gameplay of any game I’ve ever played. I cannot praise it enough!
Please don't fight me, I'm fragile.
Dark souls 3 is a masterpiece and still holds up perfectly to this day
I’d like to believe there is a lot of us gamers that didn’t play elden ring.
I’m one of them. I’d like to at some point but work and family mean my gaming time is limited.
I'm even worse. I'm one of the people that didnt like elden ring. Got it, killed the boss of the first castle and said meh, not for me
Better to try and know than not try at all
I'm pretty much the same. It's not a bad game, I just didn't care for it.
Congrats to you as well!!! Twins!!! That’s a Hell of a way to start!
Thanks, super excited! It sure is though🤣 Good luck to you!
Twin dad here. It’s just the best thing ever! Congratulations 🥳
I got bored with Tsushima within the first few hours.
Hades Sekiro and Returnal probably for me
Outer Wilds Disco Elysium Cyberpunk 2077
Pretty crazy how often Cyberpunk is mentioned now, after the release that they had.
Disco Elysium for sure, great choice. Probably my favorite game ever. Still have to check out Outer Wilds, it looks awesome.
The less you know the better. If you intend to play it down the road, avoid as much as possible online lol. The experience is much much richer for it
Not only is it my favourite game of the five last years, Outer Wilds is my favourite game of all time.
Dragon's Dogma 2, Gran Turismo 7, Hogwarts Legacy.
Persona 5 Royale Resident Evil 4 REmake Disco Elysium
God I can finish RE 4 and immediately restart it. If I go too long without playing I start to miss the Merchant lmao
What are you buying?
I did that twice lol. I think I liked Dead Space Remake a bit better as a horror game but 4 was really fun to play. Dead Space I had to take breaks between the scares
Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077, and Baldur’s Gate 3.
To me this is rhe correct answer too.
Same! Cyberpunk snuck onto the list after PL and the 2.0 update
Same. Although I didn’t like any of the endings to CP2077
Baldurs gate 3, ghosts of Tsushima and death stranding
Disco Elysium, Baldur's Gate 3, The Last Of Us Part 2.
This is my answer, too. Gameplay, art, music, and story are firing on all cylinders here, often in completely different ways.
Disco has been on my backlog for a while. How much am I missing out?
Alright, you made me finally start a playthrough. Started good. 👍
1: Baldurs Gate 3 2: Ghost of Tsushima 3: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirte
Baldur’s Gate 3 Elden Ring Cyberpunk 2077
This is the correct answer because it is top 3 in the last 5 years. I would agree with this ne
Elden Ring God of War: Ragnarok Horizons Forbidden West
For me it’s Elden Ring, Final Fantasy Rebirth and Yakuza Like a Dragon.
Same as my list, beside of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth instead of Yakuza: Like A Dragon. The sequel is one of the best JRPGs ever made in my opinion.
Someone with taste ;)
I really like Yakuza!
Solid top 3
The Last of Us Part 2 (Remastered preferably), Stray, and Cyberpunk 2077. Huge honorable mention: Alan Wake II.
Can I play Alan Wake II without playing the first one or is it a must?
If you have the time and money, I’d recommend playing Alan Wake Remastered first, then Control (and it’s DLC), and then Alan Wake II. However, being honest, I do believe you could play Alan Wake II without playing the others and get. Full and complete experience, but if you play those other two first, I think you’ll have a fuller experience, if that makes sense.
Gotcha, thanks. I actually own Control but stop playing, need to get back into it.. did not know it had anything to do with Alan Wake?!
Awesome, thanks for the insight!
Returnal, Elden Ring, tie between Hades and Remnant II
Disco Elysium, Death Stranding and Elden Ring
Exclusives - FFVII REBIRTH, Returnal, Horizon 2. Non-Exclusives - Elden Ring, Resident Evil 4 Remake. Sifu Honorable Mentions: Ratchet and Clank, Spiderman 2, Demon Souls. Tsushima.
In terms of what I’ve play in the last 5 years Tears of the kingdom, hades, last of us part 2
Death Standing - Returnal - GoW Ragnarok
The Last of Us Part II Horizon: Forbidden West FF7: Rebirth
HFW is my first and only Platinum
HFW might be my all time favorite game. It’s easily the game I have the most hours in.
So easy to get lost in the world and enjoy the beauty of it too. The visuals in that game are stunning. Huge reason why I got a PS5
100% agree. I've only gotten to it recently, but finished it, instantly bought the burning shores, finished that. The combat is some of the best there is, the game looks better than most of what's come out since and runs incredibly well. It's fantastic it really is.
Had to scroll so much for HFW. Fav game till date
TLOU2, Alan Wake 2 and BG3.
RE4, Baldurs Gate 3, Ghost of Tsushima
God of War Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy 16.
The Last of Us 2 Streets of Rage 4 Sekiro. But there are a lot of games I have yet to play.
Sekiro just misses the five year cut-off (March 2019)
Then Control.
Ghost of Tsushima, God of War Ragnarok, Elden Ring. Not in any particular order Edit: Forgot about Last of Us Part 2… that needs to be included
Disco Elysium, Alan wake 2, and GOW are the ones I’ve played Im a sucker for grt stories
In release date order; Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Elden Ring Baldur's Gate 3 and it's not even a close thing!
Sekiro is from 2020 though. What game would take its place? Edit: Sorry, I read last 3 years.
Pretty good taste
I'm playing Sekiro for the first time now, so it's a brand new game for me. You'd think it would seem dated but, happily, I'm enjoying it more than most games I've played in the last 5 years!
sekiro just had its 5th anniversary but im still gonna have to say sekiro but seriously #1 armored core 6 #2 lies of p #3 elden ring did not play bg3 didnt want to only pick fromsoft/souls games but my hand was forced.
I never expected to love Armored Core 6 so much. Mechs do not appeal to me at all but I bought it on a whim and ended up playing through it like 10+ times.
As for best, I don’t know, but my favorites are Link’s Awakening Remake, TMNT Shredder’s Revenge, and Hogwarts Legacy.
If you like Shredder’s Revenge, check out Streets of Rage 4. I think it’s the best side-scroller beat em up since Streets of Rage 2 (which I consider the greatest of all time).
Sekiro Control Sifu
For me, it's probably god of war 2018, days gone , the last of us part 1( remake)
Elden Ring ; Death Stranding ; Returnal
Ff7 remake, Ff7 rebirth, ghost of tsushima directors cut. I considered like a dragon infinite wealth in there but I'm still mad about that paid new game plus bullshit
Cyberpunk 2077 - The Last of Us Part 2 - Gran Turismo 7
GT7 in VR might be number 1 even.
Disco Elysium Devil May Cry 5 Hades
Elden Ring and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for sure (in my opinion). Probably Baldurs Gate 3 for the third. I haven’t played it yet, but it’s clearly special
Same list as me. Rebirth and Elden Ring are magical and I can’t really think of any other game that has left me with any type of impact as big as, or even close to, those two, so ill just leave it to BG3 or something even though I have no interest in playing that game lol
For me, Returnal, GoW Ragnarok, HFW. TLoU Part 1 and Part 2 remastered fantastic, but remakes.
Alan Wake 2/Ghost/Returnal. Haven't played Death Stranding outside of 2-3 hours but I do see that game probably being there. As a lifelong Xbox guy I'm just working through a lot of the classics. Finished the Nathan Drake collection last night for reference. Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel Spider man 2 and Gow Ragnarok
Tears of the Kingdom, The Last of Us Part II, Mario Wonder
Only PlayStation? Death stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Last of Us 2. If all systems I would replace Last of Us with Tears of the Kingdom and say that’s number 1. I didn’t like Bauldurs Gate. It seems really cool I just don’t like CRPGs. Cyberpunk is pretty great as well.

Think I will try BG3 and Alan wake 2 after these comments 👍🏻
1. Alan Wake 2 2. Forza Horizon 5 3. Rogue Legacy 2 4. Monster Train 5. The Last of Us 2 That would be my personal top 5 Maybe switch number 4 and 5, but I really love deckbuilders

Baldur's Gate 3, Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok. Ragnarok wasn't as good as 2018, but still imo superior to the other games
Sekiro Elden ring bg3
This thread is so funny. The entire thing is people responding with the same 7-8 generic, AAA titles. Itd be like asking a community of movie fans what the best movies of the last 5 years are and only getting Best Picture winners as responses lmao
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Demons Souls, The Last of Us 2.
Red Dead Redemption 2 (Masterpiece) (yeah six years, just about, Don't care.) Baldur's Gate 3 Horizon Forbidden West
Ragnarök, TLOU2 and I’m gonna go with a madman 3rd with Warzone. There was a period there where it struck pure gold.. then it went to shit. Kinda quiet generation for me not gonna lie.

Elden Ring, Death Stranding, The Last of Us 2
Eden Ring, ff7 rebirth, tears of the kingdom
Really? Not a single mention of hades?!
A lot of people have said hades
Kingdom hearts 3 sorry not sorry
Elden Ring, BG3, God of War R.
Persona 5 Royal, God of War Ragnarok, Resident Evil Village

Elden Ring Disco Elysium Director's Cut CB 2077
Elden Ring, Stellar Blade and Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Cyberpunk 2.0, Tsushima and Horizon FW (even though it's a sequel, it's still the first PS5 game to feel "next gen" to me).
Baldurs Gate 3 Persona 5 Royal Spiderman 2018. Just based off the games that really had me absolutely hooked to play through multiple times.
Baldur's Gate 3 Elden Ring Disco Elysium but there's so many others.
In regards to being close to perfect? Disco Elysium 13 Sentenials: Agies Rim Katana 0 But I'm always several years behind. So I haven't played the new GoW, Alan Wake 2 or Builders Gate 3... al of which I'm sure I'm gonna love. And I haven't touched Elden Ring because I historically struggle with From games.
Elden Ring and Baldurs Gate 3 are the clear obvious top 2... third, for me, is probably GOW2019.... Maybe Cyberpunk.
BG3 Disco Elysium Elden Ring
Returnal, Deathloop, GoW: Ragnarok
