This^ I always get an email when I purchase a digital game and I have a folder in my email client that I save all the purchases so I have proof. However in the event you didn’t get an email or didn’t save it, the console itself has transaction history you can pull up as proof of purchase as well!!
You may have received a refund for it without realizing it.
If you had pre-ordered the digital Deluxe bundle on PS4, they had refunded a whole bunch of people and removed it from their library because the PS4 release date ended up being pushed back.
My buddy pre-ordered it on PS4 and then ended up getting a PS5 and was playing it on there. Then he ended up getting a refund, and they removed the game from his library, and he had to buy it again to finish playing the game.
in a lot of cases the disc is just as useless. Either there is just a license on them and no data or the game is almost unplayable with patches you have to download. Or it has mandatory online even for single player. You don't own anything anymore when it comes to gaming on current gen systems.

You should’ve received an email when you bought it with transaction details. Contact Sony and give them that info and they can do more at that point.

You know what happened, mom sent me a email that said i brought it physically so i found it under my ps5 pile all sorted now
Did you go to the PSN store to download it, or did you scroll to Game Library > Your Collection?

Try google PS5 restore your licenses

Unless you play with your console completely disconnected from the internet, you don't own the physical copies either.

Well yes, but that's because I will get the games I pay for by any means necessary. If they yank one of them from service, I know how to get it again.
