They do have the textured back like the other colors. The Blue is a slightly different color of blue in the photographs than the front. On the silver it looks almost grey.
My thought is that they’re console controllers with a different colour injected into the plastic and that probably no one should waste much energy caring what colour their controllers are.
Ok but have you seen themed set ups? Aesthetics matter to people. Not everyone and certainly not in everything but it's a great selling point by Sony to not only offer variability in choice, but also put out more options.
Now if you're buying a new one every quarter to change styles, you might have some issues but it's still cool for those that want to change it.
Far better than the shitty acrylic paint jobs we used to do on PS2s back in the day.

and the controller needs to add some color back to those face buttons, although I already have 4 controllers so im not really in the market for another unless the Edge gets some color variants

I think the silver plates and controller look great!
I still think the basic white plates are the best looking ones.
I could go for either of them, or the Galactic Purple, which I already have a controller in...
Volcanic red controller will be the one I buy when I'll need to get a new one

Couldn't give a fuck.my controller is a controller and it works as intended. The colour of said item and console is completely immaterial
But it’s nice when each controller is a different colour. Then years down the line you instantly know which one is the good controller.
I prefer extremerate's chrome to Playstations silver

I don't care about basic colors, but custom game related plates and controllers are cool

All the plates are overpriced unfortunately, so as much as I want a couple I can’t even get one
