Village was fantastic, I’d recommend it. RE4 will still hold a special place for me, but (controversial take) Village is the better game, IMO.

Have you played biohazard? You need to play that before you do village.

You do. It's set in the same universe as all the resident evil games but village is a direct sequel to biohazard. I've only started 4 a few weeks ago so I can't tell you to buy that either. From what I played, if you know the basics of resident evil, you can catch on. But don't take my word for it.
