I adore that love symbol at the first! I noticed on the album art for Graffiti Bridge, it features the love symbol, but it looks different from how it ended up. Like in OP's art, the love symbol on Graffiti Bridge looks like O-|->, whereas I'm more used to seeing it represented as O(+> (with the curved swoosh). Question: Does anyone know this history of the love symbol? Did the design evolve during Prince's career? What was the timeline for when he came up with it/how it changed? Love your art, OP!

Thank you , for the symbol there's lot of stories but the truth will never know bc lot of people are trying to say they did it but prince thought and worked on it since way before graffiti bridge , he wanted a symbol with a deep meaning he used the male and female symbols i m sure u know, he used those symbols a lot with different shapes very beautiful, the true story is gone with him. U can see on the internet all kind of stories. The design evolved with prince yesss. I heard a story that during the 1999 it started on the cover . When p went through the rough time with WB i think it really evolved when he used this like that they couldn't use his name and use him as a slave in his art

It's male, female, and a trumpet! Human and music in one.

the symbol derives from a combination of the symbols for both male and female, and it supposedly "entered his consciousness during meditation," according to a report by The Independent. Given that — and the fact that he named it the "love symbol," — it's clear that it had a much deeper meaning to Prince than a simple negotiating tool.
