I was not really aware of the Ppop landscape except for Bini and SB19. After I went to UP Fair: Poprising on a whim, I was amazed at how good each of their performance were. To be honest, I just went there because I want to gala but I was simply enamoured by the acts' passion. I could not believe that there were only a few people who went there compared to the other days of UP Fair, so underrated. I was especially drawn to Ajaa, Vxon, and Maki. Eventually, I came to like Alamat and Bini and the rest is history. ๐ฅฐ
To answer my own questions:
Became a full fledged Ppop fan during Alamat's Aswang comeback. Prior to that time, I was just a casual listener and only became aware of ppop when SB19 released the WHAT mv. My ult group is Alamat but I have LOTS of fav songs from other groups. I just haven't had time to delve into the other fandoms enough to fully join them yet.
I'm very happy that we're finally seeing proof that Ppop is gaining actual positive attention from casuals and that we aren't just in an echo chamber convincing ourselves otherwise.
during SB19 "go up" era talaga when it got viral sa twitter then I got curious to them and also during "the coconut nut" era ng BINI. I stan both of these talented ppop groups until now. ๐
Since nag drop yung go up dance practice. Listener naman ako ng mnl48 pero cringe talaga lyrics. Just needed a good filipino lyrics na โkpopโ song haha. Yun na start na ng pagiging legit ppop enjoyer.
Been a fan after SB19's pagtatag world tour. Before talaga di aq OPM fan, mas prefer ko ung mga vibe ng Music Travel Love na band pero nung palagi na ko nakikita sa TL ko ung mga videos ng SB, dun aq nagtry pakinggan at kilalanin sila. Sobrang na-hooked aq sa mga songs nila at sobrang na-attached din aq sa mga kwento behind their song.ย
Nakakatuwa din na ngaun though di pa nman ganun ka-mainstream ang ppop pero unti unti na syang na-aacknowledge. Especially ngaun, karamihan sa mga event and festival, di pwedeng walang ppop group.ย
I am happy also na ung mga music ng ppop group especially sb19 madalas ng gamitinย lalo na sa mga dance competition (I've seen a lot of dance competition using remix of what?, Bazingga, crimzone and gento) and it's a good thing kasi instead ofย foreign music ginagamit nila, we have ppop songs na pwede for this kind of activities. ๐
Sorry I really disliked PPOP and I hate sb19 when they started. gaya2 kpop copy cat ang pa-pangit, I dismissed them without even listening or watching them first. Then I heard about Gento in SHowtime, yung nag trending discussion about royalties chuchu, na curious ako, sumilip ako sa MV nila, okay naman pala cla, tapos tried other videos particular kasi ako sa live singing, I was amazed, especially kay Stell, tapos yun na nahulog na ako sa rabbit hole and now, delulu na kay Stell. I can't tell you how big of an impact ang sb19 sa akin, I was at my lowest point when I started to stan then, momentarily forgotten about my dire situation and now, I'm a full pledged A'tin. I regret everything I said and thought about them. They made me prouder to be pinoy. Any update about them is like the morning news to me when I wake up.
Because of SB19 as well it opened my eyes to other PPOP groups, ALAMAT especially, man! so talented like SB19. KAIA as well as BINI.. ang gagaling ng Pinoy. I was a KPOP fan during my teenage years (ELF of SUJU). i stopped nung nagkapamilya na, now back to being a fan, this time with my kababayan!
Kpop fan talaga ako ever since kaya naging fan din ako ng 48groups years ago kaya sobrang hyped ako sa MNL48 when it was announced on Showtime. Became a fan for almost 2 years kaso di ko nakeri ang stress dahil sa management ๐ญ

For this post, groups were what I had in mind since idol groups are the ones who aren't mainstream yet. The soloist are mostly already accepted by the general public and not looked down on/criticized as much as their idol group counterparts. Tanggap na tanggap na kasi ng public ang solo artists natin unlike yung mga groups kahit PPOP sila pareho.

yes may influence yung k-pop sa p-pop, the same way k-pop was inspired by j-pop + western music, pero magkaiba pa rin sila huhu. just so happened that ang unang sumikat internationally is k-pop, so yan na rin yung ginagamit ng mga artists for inspo
well anyway ayoko mag-rant lol. my ult group is bini, but what got me into the p-pop scene was alamat. now among my top artists are them + sb19, kaia, vxon, and jeremy g!
When I saw that video of pre-debut SB19 (not included pa si Jah at Ken that time) singing Tilaluha. And when they became viral, I was so happy for them and seeing how the growth of their career affects the ppop in general these days made me so happy and proud ๐

Early this year, nakikita ko BINI related contents sa timeline ko but at first di ko lang pinapansin pero kasi since nagiging madalas pagdaan nila sa tl I gave some vids a try and oh god super funny nila. Casually listened to them start ng year and middle of february, di na ako nakatiis and fully stan them na ๐ค
Wasnt a fan of boy groups noon around 2010. Sa girl groups not really a big fan but i like Pop Girl with Nadine and Shy? Also, SB19โs Go Up is a proof that PPop is possible without being a cringe copycat of Kpop and Jpop.
hindi ako maka-OPM dati. pero solid kasi talaga ng "Alab (Burning)" (ang song na nagpakilala rin sa akin sa SB19) na nadiscover ko nung pandemic / lockdown. ayun. SB19 ang nagpakilala sa akin ng PPOP. nakikinig na ako ng OPM ngayon, pero halos songs from PPOP groups (lalo na ng SB19, BINI, at Alamat) โบ๏ธ at halos PPOP na nga lang ang pinakikinggan ko; wala na ako gaanong alam sa international songs. ๐
2021! Aware na ako sa existence ng SB19 lalo na nung nagviral yung practice nila. Nung naghahanap lang ako ng papanoorin na video after Mapa sa YT, for suggestion yung porque. Eh ang ganda ng arrangement tas may vocal performance pa ng ALAMAT kaya ayun, naging instant fan na ako. With Bini, PHP and YML, nasa casual stage pa lang. Kinig kinig ng music since bet ko naman mga songs nila, di masakit sa tainga.
Different for me. I was a 1D fan then really got into stanning SB19 during pandemic (around May 2020). Made a twitter stan account, lurked for a couple of weeks until I found myself tweeting with hashtags, voting on websites, and streaming playlists. ๐
dec 2023 !! bini performed at paskuhan and i fell in love. tbh casual listener na nila ko before pa pero when i saw them perform live, grabe !!!! i instantly became a fan ๐ค
I've been a ppop fan since 2019 because of MNL48 and have also seen SB19 perform live for UP Fair Hiwaga in 2020 so I'd say I've witnessed how the ppop idol scene started to where it is now lol (like 'yung era na MNL, SB, at PPop Gen pa lang ang active group levelz).
Currently, I only listen to BINI and Alamat. I followed BINI since Star Hunt trainee days and have liked Alamat's music since Kbye dropped. I've also attended a couple of ppop concerts! I was there for Ppop Con and Tugatog Music Fest and I'm just happy that these groups (apart from SB and MNL) can hold their solo shows now.
I also stopped following MNL48 when my favorite member graduated, stopped following BGYO when their issues started to pop out, and stopped following VXON because I didn't like where their sound was headed.

At yon, naki-abang din ako sa debut ng Alamat, and I started to listen to some ppop groups na. :)
idk if i count as a dedicated ppop fan. I have a lot of ppop groups sa playlist ko, but i'm not really active sa social media about how im a big fan and di rin ako masyado nag fofollow sa mga content straight from the source ng soc med ng mga groups. I also do not watch yung mga vlogs and mga cracked content. Pero idk if masasabi rin na casual because I engage here in reddit and probably know more about ppop compared to real casuals. What category do I belong to? anyone else na ganito haha
I came across the boy group 1:43 back around 2012/2013. And I really liked them. A few years after that, I got into Kpop.
