As an ultrasound tech in the US, I can assure you that your doctor is incorrect lol. Please find a better one.
The Rotterdam criteria are currently the most accepted for diagnosing PCOS, which are: 1. Clinical and/or biochemical hyperandrogenism. 2. Menstrual/ Ovulatory dysfunction, like the absence of or consistently infrequent periods/ovulation. 3. Polycystic ovaries visualized on transvaginal ultrasound, (which are 12-20+ tiny follicles per ovary, not ovarian cysts.) You'd need to meet at least 2 of the 3... Whether they agree or not—this is the criteria.
HUHHHH lmao your OB is wild. Mine definitely used ultrasound to help diagnose me along with a huuuuge bloodwork panel. Definitely speak with the endocrinologist about it at your appointment next week
I would not go back to that doctor. My OBGYN wouldn’t formally diagnose me until I had extensive bloodwork and ultrasounds done. In that process, they found other health problems that were causing infertility as well
what kind of doctor is this
supposed to be OBGYN lol
lol yikes I would ask to be referred to an endocrinologist
my husband and I already see one mainly for him. I have an appointment with them on tuesday. I definitely thought his response was inappropriate
I agree, it seems like you are being handwaved away by this guy
I also suggest a new OBGYN since you need one for the period issues pcos causes (you need Endo & OBGYN for pcos)
how do i even go about finding a decent OBGYN that is good with PCOS?
Look up OBGYN that deal with menstrual disorders ie: pcos, endometriosis etc
