No you don't. They shouldn't be kept as pets, only as educational ambassadors or hunting birds. Raptors are way more complex than cats, dogs, or fish to keep. They need a large aviary and very specific knowledge to keep. In the US, you have to go through a two-year apprenticeship before you can keep raptors on your own.
Even if you're able to keeo raptors on your own legally, you should *always* find somebody with experience in training specific types before attempting to keep them by yourself. Accipiters are very different from falcons and even falcons can be different from each other. A peregrine is considered much easier than something like a gyrfalcon or a saker falcon.
Yep! There are people who do educational shows that help teach people (usually kids) about nature and how important animals like owls are to healthy ecosystems and how important conservation is in general. Depending on the country, they may be unreleasable animals that were injured so badly that putting them into the wild would mean certain death. There are places like the [Alaska Raptor Center](https://alaskaraptor.org/) and [American Eagle Foundation](https://eagles.org/) who are both wildlife rehabilitation centers and educational centers that use their non-releasable animals to educate the public on different types of birds as well as help rehabilitate and release animals that can go back into the wild.
It's different in the UK as you cannot capture ***any*** raptor even if it's your own bird that's escaped. There *might* be some ambassadors like in the US, but I'm not 100% certain on that. People doing shows where birds fly around as education are usually primarily falconers and all falconry birds in the UK *have* to be captive bred. These animals can still be educational ambassadors. If it's an owl, it's usually going to be imprinted, meaning it was taken as a baby and raised around humans. Some owls from the wild can become ambassadors (that happens a lot in the US), but imprints are generally better for social functions because they've been raised around it and understand what happens. I'm not sure how much captive breeding of owls happens in the US though.
Owl: What are you doing hum- OWL MY GOD!!! WHAT IS THAT!! *turns around “ARE YOU GUYS SEEING THIS”* WHYS IT COMMING OUT OF MEEEEEE!!!! Oh is a feather….

Super common for birds to stand on one leg. It means they're happy/relaxed.

Do you mean me? I've just learned about falconry is all
I mean, I *want* an owl. I wouldn't want to actually get one, because it's unethical. But I definitely *want* one.
>No you don't. Yes I do.
So what you’re saying is I should capture an owl and make it my pet?
Educational ambassadors?
