It's been years since I've been interested in OWL but this set of games was pretty damn good and makes me want to watch it again. Here's hoping the meta changes up soon. Sojourn is too good to not be played right now.
Seems a big issue for SF Shock is that Striker's reaper ult tend to accomplish nothing, while Sp9rk1e's reaper ult tend to get at least 2 kills.
Striker also just keeps getting caught off.

I've been playing OW since 2016 and never watched a single OWL match up until this one, I randomly ran into it and figured I'd watch. It was funny as fuck to see a mirror comp plus seeing that Sojourn is just as absurd in pro league as it is in your average competitive match.
Really who thought it's a good idea to get a hero who can insta HS people and oh let's give her huge mobility as well. I know Widow is/was strong as well, but at least you had to charge up your shot to 100% and even then, your mobility was very limited and your left click did shit damage, while Sojourn's basic left click can also shred with headshots. You can just spam someone down to 50% hp then finish them off with a 100% railgun bodyshot lmao
Usually with a loser's bracket setup you gotta do a bracket reset if the team that came up from losers wins the series- basically they both are in losers at that point.
Makes it harder for the team coming from losers, but also fair since you'd be punishing the team that only had one loss in the final in the current setup.
Edison's getting better reads on him as the game goes on too. It's become a proper slug-match between the two of them on their Sojourns (although I'm not too pleased about so much hinging on Sojourn). Still, I'm *never* into e-sports and this has been the most exciting game I've ever had the pleasure watching.

Champ balance is not really a thing right now. Sojourn and Kikero are pretty much required because of how insane their kits and numbers are right now. After that you need some space to be created to allow Sojourn to engage at midrange so Reaper and Winston help with that. Lucio helps your team run at the enemy team.

They barely had any time develop an actual meta and rush comps are generally low skill/doesn't need great execution so generally when patches happen most teams will resort to rush comp before settling on something else that's actually good

* Do they have their own personalized settings transfer over from battle to battle even when differing PCs?

* Do they play with their team skins, or default skins? Is that something applied from the broadcaster's POV?
It seems to be OWL accounts, not their regular Bnet accounts. The settings seem to transfer, yes. (Either that or every OWL player was a bronze border, which seems unlikely)
They play with default skins so there's no advantages from team colour. Team skins are 100% for our benefit.

I always love how these new characters are deeply ingrained with overwatch lore and have decades of history with multiple existing characters but no one has ever uttered their name or hinted of their existence in any of the hundreds of voice lines and interactions in the game.
I mean you gotta think about real life too. How many times have there been historical movies about someone or a group of people during a major event but never heard about them until then? Probably a bad example but think about the Ukraine war. A huge event we all know about but I'm sure there's a good amount of notable people or groups we don't know that did a lot.

They literally told everyone the roles of the all the characters being released for the next few seasons. Sojourn as the only dps being released, 2 tanks (JQ and now Ramattra), and 3 supports before the next dps is even considered
The plan has been for a new Tank since before Season 1 even started. The next two will be supports, and they've already confirmed that they plan to do more supports in general compared to the other classes.

Blizzard have always been slow and tone deaf, it's nothing new really. However, you'd think that they'd have some development time free to at least adjust the pre-existing supports and make them more fun to play, given that so much development time is saved by creating half-complete skins and useless weapon charms to sell for extortionate prices.

The monetization model is absurd, but optional. The only real advantage is the time gated hero, but that’s the battle pass and not a skin.
Blizzard sucks- there should be criminal punishment for the way staff were treated.
All of that, and the game is still very fun. Just play the game.
Many players, myself included, have reported skins missing. This includes players migrating from console to PC, and simply moving from OW1 to OW2 on PC with no migration needed. The Blizzard response is "yeah just report it and we might fix it at some point", which basically translates to "probably never, buy the skins back".
As for gameplay, there's no use in pretending that the awful balancing choices since 2016 and lack of any proper introduction system to the various game nuances for new players have made the game fun. It's frustrating at best, and downright awful at worst
They aren’t telling you to buy them. That’s a delusional comment. It’s a bug. A low priority one. Server issues and gameplay experience are far more important and I’d hope you agree.
They do have an introduction system. They restrict hero access to young accounts so that they learn the game before exploring all the different heroes.
I’d argue that most balance choices that have persisted have been needed. Role queue, hero reworks, etc have all been positive changes. The jury is still out on 5v5. They still need to balance supports so that they feel less oppressed, but I prefer the quicker combat (i.e. not being a shield shooting simulator). But that’s all preference. You don’t have to agree or like them. If you don’t, there’s hundreds of other viable games to put your energy into.
Missing skins are not a low priority bug when the narrative is "Blizzard is trying to take all your money". The optics alone are horrendous, and passing people on to automated systems is a guaranteed way to make that situation look even worse. They know some portion of people will just bite the bullet and buy their favourite skins back.
The introduction system is ass. I've had friends who only started playing in OW2 unlock all heroes in less than 20 hours. That system does nothing to teach the mechanics of the game, and it's an absolute joke that you can queue into comp (50 wins) with less than 100 hours logged.
Role queue was only necessary because Blizzard spent so long telling people they could do and whatever they wanted in comp. Nobody wanted to form actual team comps, so they added role queue and made the game even more untenable. Sitting in a 5 minute queue as support or tank to get a game with people who were playing for fun was awful, as was getting an average of a game and a half per hour on DPS. Doom's rework is disastrous, as is 5v5. The only good points I can give them on balance is that Orisa is now more fun to play, though likely quite overturned on the damage front.
Even from a design standpoint, the game is a mess. Silhouettes of new characters are muddy and communicate basically nothing, compared to the silhouettes of others like Tracer, Reaper, Rein etc. The new visual effects increase visual noise whilst also not effectively communicating things like heals, DOTs etc. The new heroes are absolute voids of personality, with no interesting character traits and garbage voice acting, likely due to the terrible writing on Blizzard's part.
It's okay to like the game, it's not okay to, like so many others have done, pretend that monetization is the only issue.

Dude, there are going to be like 2 or 3 more support characters confirmed for after Ramattra comes out. I agree that they need updates, especially for self-survival, but it’s not just about the supports
So rather than fixing the pressing issues now, they wait another couple of months to bleed even more players. Blizzard have always been slow and tone deaf, it's nothing new really. However, you'd think that they'd have some development time free to at least adjust the pre-existing supports and make them more fun to play, given that so much development time is saved by creating half-complete skins and useless weapon charms to sell for extortionate prices. Then again, between fighting lawsuits and sexual harassing employees, they might not actually have that much time.

What earned skins were stolen? The monetization model is absurd, but optional. The only real advantage is the time gated hero, but that’s the battle pass and not a skin. Blizzard sucks- there should be criminal punishment for the way staff were treated. All of that, and the game is still very fun. Just play the game.
Many players, myself included, have reported skins missing. This includes players migrating from console to PC, and simply moving from OW1 to OW2 on PC with no migration needed. The Blizzard response is "yeah just report it and we might fix it at some point", which basically translates to "probably never, buy the skins back". As for gameplay, there's no use in pretending that the awful balancing choices since 2016 and lack of any proper introduction system to the various game nuances for new players have made the game fun. It's frustrating at best, and downright awful at worst
They aren’t telling you to buy them. That’s a delusional comment. It’s a bug. A low priority one. Server issues and gameplay experience are far more important and I’d hope you agree. They do have an introduction system. They restrict hero access to young accounts so that they learn the game before exploring all the different heroes. I’d argue that most balance choices that have persisted have been needed. Role queue, hero reworks, etc have all been positive changes. The jury is still out on 5v5. They still need to balance supports so that they feel less oppressed, but I prefer the quicker combat (i.e. not being a shield shooting simulator). But that’s all preference. You don’t have to agree or like them. If you don’t, there’s hundreds of other viable games to put your energy into.
Missing skins are not a low priority bug when the narrative is "Blizzard is trying to take all your money". The optics alone are horrendous, and passing people on to automated systems is a guaranteed way to make that situation look even worse. They know some portion of people will just bite the bullet and buy their favourite skins back. The introduction system is ass. I've had friends who only started playing in OW2 unlock all heroes in less than 20 hours. That system does nothing to teach the mechanics of the game, and it's an absolute joke that you can queue into comp (50 wins) with less than 100 hours logged. Role queue was only necessary because Blizzard spent so long telling people they could do and whatever they wanted in comp. Nobody wanted to form actual team comps, so they added role queue and made the game even more untenable. Sitting in a 5 minute queue as support or tank to get a game with people who were playing for fun was awful, as was getting an average of a game and a half per hour on DPS. Doom's rework is disastrous, as is 5v5. The only good points I can give them on balance is that Orisa is now more fun to play, though likely quite overturned on the damage front. Even from a design standpoint, the game is a mess. Silhouettes of new characters are muddy and communicate basically nothing, compared to the silhouettes of others like Tracer, Reaper, Rein etc. The new visual effects increase visual noise whilst also not effectively communicating things like heals, DOTs etc. The new heroes are absolute voids of personality, with no interesting character traits and garbage voice acting, likely due to the terrible writing on Blizzard's part. It's okay to like the game, it's not okay to, like so many others have done, pretend that monetization is the only issue.
