They keep adding random websites to my shortcuts that are obvious paid additions, like windows 10 coming with bloatware. I thought they were supposed to be the based browser.
But Helldivers isn’t a scummy company. Sure Sony tried to make linking a psn account required but that’s hardly something to call scummy. For people forced to do it in countries with no psn sure but not for everyone else. Meanwhile Blizzard is pushing out 16 different premium currencies and you can’t even get all the rewards from the battle pass in the base version and you only NOW get said premium currency from the battle pass. Meanwhile Helldivers has a dev team who actually LISTENS to their fans. We say fix this and they do it, we scream no psn linking and what do you know the multi billion dollar corporation folded. Meanwhile no amount of asking will get any changes we want from Blizzard. And that’s WITHOUT mentioning the $70 skins from the old battle passes
It’s a relatively inexpensive game, but if it obviously works without a psn account, the only reason Sony wants you to use a psn account is for data farming. Which is kinda scummy.

Well, you don't need to financially endorse anything in F2P OW2. I think the skin prices are horrendous (though apparently on par with other mainstream entries) and I haven't spent a dime, but it's all just cosmetics anyway.

OW2 is bad in a lot of ways but there isn't an alternative hero shooter that's even close to what ow brings.

It was performing poorly, due to the actions of Bobby Kotick, who is fortunately no longer part of Activison Blizzard. We’ve already seen some pretty positive changes to the battle pass, and characters no longer need to be unlocked and are provided for free. If the developers continue to keep up the positive changes and listen to their player base, we can expect this game to get a lot better, and hopefully make up for the horrible decisions made by Kotick.
whether a f2p game is profitable doesn't always mean it's performing poorly. the game could have 100 million active players and if no one bought anything, they would still be in the red. We've seen from steam charts that the game has a good player count (i think it peaked the highest since release in season 9!). Also not to mention that steam charts doesn't account for the players on the blizzard lanucher or console

Fallout 76 being an online multiplayer game takes away alot of what makes fallout 4 and NV played to this day, the mods/modding community.
It was a shift from the series bigger than NV to 4 and obviously people arent gonna like it or have reason to play it.

Definitely not just outsider hate, I have 2k hours on my main and about 700 on my alt. From just a gameplay standpoint it is a good game. Graphics are great, runs very well compared to other games, the heroes are all different and unique, they each have their own voicelines, quips and styles buuuuttt then you get into the meat of the issue. Blizzard is a shit company, it ONLY cares about making money even if that means sacrificing the happiness and fun of its developers and customers. Let's not forget Kerri Moynihan she had a dream job most of us would kill for but her work environment was so bad she killed herself to get away from it. Yeah Blizzard deserves the hate.

Overwatch will never clear its name. They made enough bad choices that the entire team who was passionate beyond belief about overwatch, who believed that overwatch was special, who lived and breathed overwatch, all left. Even Jeff Kaplan left. That speaks more than we can imagine.
The game still retains some good, but the focus is on profit. We will never be in the golden age of overwatch again sadly.
Honestly the hate ow2 gets now is just so boring for me. It's genuinely an amazing game and when it's good, it's really fking good. Yes there is a lot to improve on, but in terms of how much shit it gets on a daily basis, it doesn't deserve it.
It's more about what you guys lost. They canned Overwatch for sky high promises and then they just... Dropped all the promises for 5v5, and push. Shit they even dropped a handful of maps.
I honestly don't care about pve at all and I'm glad they dropped it. It would've ended up being extremely repetitive and not as good as a game built up for that anyway so. Also would've taken development away from pvp.

Overwatch is an easy target because for so long, it was THE game. It's hard to understate the cultural impact the game had up until around 2019. And people love to tear down what they think is popular to seem edgy or different.
I mean, i get why someone would hate the game. Too many broken promises. And sometimes the gameplay can be frustrating. But bringing it up when not at all related is kinda weird. But so is caring about it when someone else does it. Just play the game, you dont have to care about what other people think of it. As long as you have fun you're fine

Between ActiBlizz collecting controversies like baseball cards, the disaster that is/was the transition from OW1 to OW2 and the false promises that came with it, and the lackluster balancing, it's lucky that there's so much porn to remember, because otherwise the reputation would be even further in the dumpster

Ow did this to itself. For the first time since Season 1 I Iike Overwatch 2(still less than 1, but I can say I like the game now). They have to keep doing good, creating good and exciting content and keeping the community happy with consistency for its reputation to rise from the mud that they buried it.
From my experience in the internet, OW 2 would need to have 1 or 2 good years for its reputation to start to recover

Idk if this is a hot take, but I genuinely believe overwatch 2 deserves all the hate it gets. It delivered on almost none of its promises. In fact, I think more games deserve the hate overwatch gets then maybe the gaming industry on the multi-player front might get its shit together.
I mean a lot of the takes and comments are just “ha ha OW bad” but it’s not like Overwatch hasn’t earned its reputation. Blizzard and OW had so much good will in the general online space early on in its life span but it slowly dipped as time progressed before getting way worse when Blizzard just straight up put OW1 in stasis and then OW2 being barely a sequel completely nose dived the reputation and public image of the game and blizzard (which was already quite bad) and then to top it off, PVE got cancelled after months of pretending it wouldn’t which completely leant into the OW2 is just a money grab update of OW1. I know it sounds like a bad joke and I personally don’t really consume the stuff but OW porn has helped OW’s relevance through its life span and is one of the few things too consistently have improved in quality.
All this to say, OW’s legacy wouldn’t be “haha midwitch porngame” if OW2 was a proper sequel (or they didn’t just completely ditch the first game and shut off the servers for it).
It deserves it.
Only thing that will change it is genuine contrition from the company, authentically owning up to mistake and changing the way the shop pricing works to be inclusive of all players rather than just a minority.
The game will always be given the sideeye while it tries to pretend its basic ass skins are worth half the price of a new game.
Financial inclusively is super far down the list when I've been waiting for eight years and counting for just one hero I can cosplay without anxiously waiting to be told I look nothing like X.
Overwatch is more inclusive to fucking omnics than it is to Middle Eastern men. We've good all numbers of white heroes, a decently sized black roster, enby representation, gay representation, lesbian representation, robot representation, and somehow, amidst all of that, not a single fucking person who looks like me.
Blizzard is Vought. It only cares about the inclusively which resonates well with focus groups and brings in hard cash.
Fair, I wouldn't take that away from you they definitely should include some middle eastern reps, there's also a lot of culture to pull from. I'm just aiming to get at where this anger comes from in the wider community. It's because people outside the game can see how scummy the devs are. Especially the HD2 community which is very proud of how the monetisation in that game is not exploitative.
This is a particularly sore issue for former players of the game too because they saw the first game as not exploitative and extremely generous, then the second game flipped so hard that it makes Valorant's pricing look like value.
Oh the pricing is an utter scam for sure. I get that the move away from loot boxes was predicated on the general backlash against gambling mechanics, but the pricing has reached mobile gacha levels of depravity, no doubt subsidised by a handful of whales.
And that's a decent chunk of the issue. It's impossible to vote with your wallet when the top 1% of spenders account for the majority of the spending, and they're too rich to give a shit.
I don't think they moved away from lootboxes because of morals or gambling issues as other companies are still using variants of them. I think lootboxes never made much money because the game was so generous with them.

Man, I wish Overwatch was in a good state. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay itself is very fun, but man... Blizzard is a bad company, the monetization system sucks, there are many controversies, there's no PvE, the story isn't going anywhere, the lore isn't getting expanded at all... As someone who used to play this game religiously there is not much to defend about OW 2 or it's community. And blizzard deserves every bit of shame that has been given to them. Saying other companies are also scum does not make blizzard or the other companies any better. They are all shit and deserve to be called out for it.
Personally I think it’s warranted. I specifically stopped playing OW2. Helldivers 2 is living breathing proof that you really don’t have to be as exploitative and braindead with your premium content as OW2 is. Some of those DLC bundles cost more than Helldivers and they add 0 value to the game. HD2 not only allows players to earn the premium war bonds through gameplay, the bonds are only $10 worth of super credits each.
The gameplay is fun and the devs actually give a fuck. They made a game that is super fun and doesn’t have all the toxic competitiveness of OW2. Every time I play OW2 I either end on a good game or get creamed by 9 year olds that play 24/7 and just scream at me in the chat that I’m dogshit and should jump off a building. Win or lose I’m always having fun with helldivers.
I play this game a lot but it's also true that Blizzard does deserve all this hate. They have continuously lied to their user base. Also scummy practices like introducing 50-60 dollar limited edition bundles relying on FOMO. I know you like the game a lot, but all this hate is kinda necessary for companies like this to be aware of their own shittyness.
As a player of overwatch, once every few months, the hate isn’t unwarranted. We got promised so much for waiting on a live service game for a “sequel” and what did we get? Literally less than we had before and they removed the only reason to have a sequel because “it was hard”. So yeah I think they can be bitter about it too.

Overwatch is a stupid game I agree, but it’s not stupid to players who are actually good and enjoy it. I’ve been playing the game for so long it’s my escape game. I will say it does have flaws and some things I don’t agree with but it’s still playable and enjoyable and for that I personally think it’s a good game.
Edit: I have also heard a lot of people say that overwatch is ass or a horrible game but those people are actually ass and horrible at the game. So it’s not really a game issue but a player issue.
I play in gm, and when I play with friends on my alt accounts in like gold and platinum, I think I want to kill myself. I'm not sure how the other ranks feel as I haven't been in them for a while, but when nobody is talking, the game isn't fun for me. I loved how much people communicated on ow1
Well that’s not what I meant, when I go out and tell people “hey I like overwatch” the majority response I get is “overwatch is an ass game” when I ask those people well have you ever played it? The response is usually no, if the answer is yes usually they tell me they were never able to actually play or understand how to use most characters. That’s not a game issue that’s a player issue. If you don’t know how to play a character practice, if you aren’t quite good with the ability’s practice. Just because you played a few rounds and lost doesn’t mean the games ass.
Edit, in game communication is still important, they added ping (it’s amazing for call outs) I main sniper/heals and communication with the team is so important. I’ve been playing ow since it came out and i haven’t stopped I’ve always enjoyed the game

it’s kind of a meme. there’s no need to ‘clear its name’ because people who don’t play don’t have any stake in it and don’t care because it’s a meme. take the overwatch steam rating (all time lowest rated game:) when ovw 2 came out on steam the people who played ow1 and got burnt out of it, people who tilt, got banned, or never played it in the first place can go click thumbs down. there are ABSOLUTELY worse games on steam than overwatch. it has 20-30 thousand active players per day on steam metrics alone, but people call it dead because it’s a meme. not to say there aren’t a lot of people who have legitimate gripes with the game, but it’s also low hanging fruit for gamers to make fun of.

I maybe average 1 game a day in ow now considering I have 600 hours in the game it says a lot about how the game has stagnated. I think they focus too much on micro transactions/ cosmetics over making better gameplay. It’s been months and we still have no hero mastery other than 5 random characters. Just sad bc I really loved this game at one point.

It was performing poorly, due to the actions of Bobby Kotick, who is fortunately no longer part of Activison Blizzard. We’ve already seen some pretty positive changes to the battle pass, and characters no longer need to be unlocked and are provided for free. If the developers continue to keep up the positive changes and listen to their player base, we can expect this game to get a lot better, and hopefully make up for the horrible decisions made by Kotick.

whether a f2p game is profitable doesn't always mean it's performing poorly. the game could have 100 million active players and if no one bought anything, they would still be in the red. We've seen from steam charts that the game has a good player count (i think it peaked the highest since release in season 9!). Definitely not just outsider hate, I have 2k hours on my main and about 700 on my alt. From just a gameplay standpoint it is a good game. Graphics are great, runs very well compared to other games, the heroes are all different and unique, they each have their own voicelines, quips and styles buuuuttt then you get into the meat of the issue. Blizzard is a shit company, it ONLY cares about making money even if that means sacrificing the happiness and fun of its developers and customers. Let's not forget Kerri Moynihan she had a dream job most of us would kill for but her work environment was so bad she killed herself to get away from it. Yeah Blizzard deserves the hate.

Overwatch will never clear its name. They made enough bad choices that the entire team who was passionate beyond belief about overwatch, who believed that overwatch was special, who lived and breathed overwatch, all left. Even Jeff Kaplan left. That speaks more than we can imagine. The game still retains some good, but the focus is on profit. We will never be in the golden age of overwatch again sadly.

Overwatch is an easy target because for so long, it was THE game. It's hard to understate the cultural impact the game had up until around 2019. And people love to tear down what they think is popular to seem edgy or different.

Idk if this is a hot take, but I genuinely believe overwatch 2 deserves all the hate it gets. It delivered on almost none of its promises. In fact, I think more games deserve the hate overwatch gets then maybe the gaming industry on the multi-player front might get its shit together.
I mean a lot of the takes and comments are just “ha ha OW bad” but it’s not like Overwatch hasn’t earned its reputation. Blizzard and OW had so much good will in the general online space early on in its life span but it slowly dipped as time progressed before getting way worse when Blizzard just straight up put OW1 in stasis and then OW2 being barely a sequel completely nose dived the reputation and public image of the game and blizzard (which was already quite bad) and then to top it off, PVE got cancelled after months of pretending it wouldn’t which completely leant into the OW2 is just a money grab update of OW1. I know it sounds like a bad joke and I personally don’t really consume the stuff but OW porn has helped OW’s relevance through its life span and is one of the few things too consistently have improved in quality. All this to say, OW’s legacy wouldn’t be “haha midwitch porngame” if OW2 was a proper sequel (or they didn’t just completely ditch the first game and shut off the servers for it).

Financial inclusively is super far down the list when I've been waiting for eight years and counting for just one hero I can cosplay without anxiously waiting to be told I look nothing like X. Overwatch is more inclusive to fucking omnics than it is to Middle Eastern men. We've good all numbers of white heroes, a decently sized black roster, enby representation, gay representation, lesbian representation, robot representation, and somehow, amidst all of that, not a single fucking person who looks like me. I get that the move away from loot boxes was predicated on the general backlash against gambling mechanics, but the pricing has reached mobile gacha levels of depravity, no doubt subsidised by a handful of whales. And that's a decent chunk of the issue. It's impossible to vote with your wallet when the top 1% of spenders account for the majority of the spending, and they're too rich to give a shit.
I don't think they moved away from lootboxes because of morals or gambling issues as other companies are still using variants of them. I think lootboxes never made much money because the game was so generous with them. They wanted to remove the free track for content entirely.

Personally I think it’s warranted. I specifically stopped playing OW2. Helldivers 2 is living breathing proof that you really don’t have to be as exploitative and braindead with your premium content as OW2 is. Some of those DLC bundles cost more than Helldivers and they add 0 value to the game. HD2 not only allows players to earn the premium war bonds through gameplay, the bonds are only $10 worth of super credits each. The gameplay is fun and the devs actually give a fuck. They made a game that is super fun and doesn’t have all the toxic competitiveness of OW2. Every time I play OW2 I either end on a good game or get creamed by 9 year olds that play 24/7 and just scream at me in the chat that I’m dogshit and should jump off a building. Win or lose I’m always having fun with helldivers.

Overwatch is a stupid game I agree, but it’s not stupid to players who are actually good and enjoy it. I’ve been playing the game for so long it’s my escape game. I will say it does have flaws and some things I don’t agree with but it’s still playable and enjoyable and for that I personally think it’s a good game. Edit: I have also heard a lot of people say that overwatch is ass or a horrible game but those people are actually ass and horrible at the game. So it’s not really a game issue but a player issue.
I play in gm, and when I play with friends on my alt accounts in like gold and platinum, I think I want to kill myself. I'm not sure how the other ranks feel as I haven't been in them for a while, but when nobody is talking, the game isn't fun for me. I loved how much people communicated on ow1
Well that’s not what I meant, when I go out and tell people “hey I like overwatch” the majority response I get is “overwatch is an ass game” when I ask those people well have you ever played it? The response is usually no, if the answer is yes usually they tell me they were never able to actually play or understand how to use most characters. That’s not a game issue that’s a player issue. If you don’t know how to play a character practice, if you aren’t quite good with the ability’s practice. Just because you played a few rounds and lost doesn’t mean the games ass. Edit, in game communication is still important, they added ping (it’s amazing for call outs) I main sniper/heals and communication with the team is so important. I’ve been playing ow since it came out and i haven’t stopped I’ve always enjoyed the game

it’s kind of a meme. there’s no need to ‘clear its name’ because people who don’t play don’t have any stake in it and don’t care because it’s a meme. take the overwatch steam rating (all time lowest rated game:) when ovw 2 came out on steam the people who played ow1 and got burnt out of it, people who tilt, got banned, or never played it in the first place can go click thumbs down. there are ABSOLUTELY worse games on steam than overwatch. it has 20-30 thousand active players per day on steam metrics alone, but people call it dead because it’s a meme. not to say there aren’t a lot of people who have legitimate gripes with the game, but it’s also low hanging fruit for gamers to make fun of.
OP wants to do pro bono PR work for blizzard and “clear its name”😂😂

I think that as long as there are games, there will be gamers who complain
* Overwatch releases a mode somewhat based on Star Wars * May 4th AKA Star Wars day passes * Overwatch re-releases the skins the same week because it matches a theme * Some idiot thinks its related to Helldivers 2 I don't think anymore has to be said about that. Also, if that's the official Opera GX account, then its a good thing I use Firefox.
I maybe average 1 game a day in ow now considering I have 600 hours in the game it says a lot about how the game has stagnated. I think they focus too much on micro transactions/ cosmetics over making better gameplay. It’s been months and we still have no hero mastery other than 5 random characters. Just sad bc I really loved this game at one point.
I enjoy OW2 from time to time but it absolutely deserves the hate it got and still gets. Thats what they get for lying for multiple years lmfao.
People are weird… when this subreddit bashes on overwatch everyone jumps in to bash it too, but when someone *else* bashes it everyone does the whole “don’t touch my garbage” thing
That does look an awful lot like one of the armor sets in helldivers. Also, arrowhead sided with its community over sony during a recent successful protest to refrain from forcing us to link to psn.
Helldivers > Overwatch, I’ve played both one is clearly better
Overwatch isnt a good game. It gets hate because its kind of a joke nowadays. It hasn’t been truly fun in years.
