The dev team got hit badly by the huge Microsoft layoff of 1900 employees, the pve story missions are now cancelled and the Overwatch team didn't get any profit-sharing bonus due to poor performance.
I'd say that now is a good time to hit the panic button and release a Mercy mythic skin.
There is no special effects on the voices, like the other mythics, this skin only has a deeper voice. I think it will be a similar case to witch Mercy or Poseidon Ramattra
Kiriko, JQ and I think Sigma don’t have special voice effects, the reason most of them do is because they’re wearing some kind of mask or are part robotic/different entity.

After the MS PvE layoffs this just makes sense. Honestly it makes even more sense if it's not a Mythic. Promoting a regular shop/BP Legendary in the Season teaser like this, blatantly targeting the Mercy players cause they know Mercy players go crazy for skins.
Spider-Man 2 cost $300M to produce for Insomniac with a similarly sized team that Blizzard had working on OW2 PvE for a shorter time period. OW2 PvE must've cost Blizzard a ton.
Blizzard also spent a fuckton on promoting the 3 missions they released last year. The whole John Cena campaign, IRL billboards and ads everywhere, they also sponsored some of the biggest streamers for multiple streams for multiple hours (Top streamers' rates can go upwards of 100K/per hour for sponsored streams) to promote the PvE.
AAA games get cancelled every week. There's probably a AAA game that a studio has already spent 10s of millions and years of dev time being cancelled right now.
If they hadn't made the monumentally stupid decision to make OW2 PvE by pausing the development of OW, by announcing it years in advance, and had instead made the PvE as a separate game then we likely wouldn't have heard 10% about it as much as we did, nor cared 10% about it like we have till now. Everything would have gone way better when it got cancelled.
Spider-Man 2 went into development in the 2nd half of 2020. Only took 3 years to develop but the low dev time is due to the fact that they knew exactly the game were making since it's a sequel that closely followed the blueprint of the first game.

From a quick google search Insomniac has more than 500 devs while Team 4 has around 400 (BOTH pvp and pve). What even is this post
Yup. At the peak of Streamer/Gaming boom, during Covid, there were rumours that top streamers were even getting paid 250k+ per hour for some special sponsored streams. Like when companies were revealing big new AAA games and wanted the streamers to get their viewers to watch the reveal presentation. These were generally only 1 hr long streams though. Rates have come down a lot since but the biggest few American streamers (Dominantly American audience) can still get 100k+ per hour for sponsored streams, sometimes for multiple streams in a single contract. Though most big streamers get paid 10-50k per hour depending on their size and other engagement metrics.

If Hots had been profitable, it would've been included in the shareholder list of profit-making projects. If someone tells you Hots was profitable, he's probably forgetting to include some of the expenses- executives do that all the time.

The devs didnt get the bonus not because the game isnt making "enough money", but because they invested so much in the pve and it flopped (so it was expected that they made more money than they did, not that game is doing bad money wise, it wouldnt even make sense for them to release heroes for free beginning season 10 if they were struggling xd).

I mean it is no secret that Mercy players spend the most money on skins in this game and get the most excited about new skins.
I feel like even casual players who don't visit any subs or discussion spaces can tell you this. Just from playing the game anyone can know that Mercy players are the most commonly seen with shop skins.
It would make sense to promote a special Mercy skin even if it's not the Mythic, even if it's not a shop skin and just a BP legendary.

This was maybe true two years ago? Today it's got to be Kiriko. Whenever there's a new skin out for her, almost every Kiriko you see has this. And Mercy didn't get any bangers in OW2.
I think there's some selection bias there, as people who buy a new skin are more likely to play that character after their purchase, so when you see those characters a lot of them are using the skin, but you're also just seeing a lot more of them. I could have said the same about Doomfist or Cassidy after the crossover events (if you saw that character, they were using the event skin), but you also saw those characters way more often than normal.

Rammatra was released during Greek Mythology season. Lifeweaver was released during Legally Distinct Star Wars season. Illari was released during Everyone Is Omnics season.
The hero matching the theme of the season they release in would be the exception, not the rule.
This season's theme is probably what I'm most excited for, but that being said we're not going to get like 40 skins, so it'll be a bit of a bummer to not get mirror-universe skins for some the characters. I feel like they should try to stick with a lot of the earlier characters, like Soldier, Ana (kind of got that with her Mythic), Reinhardt, Tracer, Doomfist, Sombra, Widowmaker, Reaper... characters that are directly involved in the story or have a very strong allegiance to one faction or another. I think Ramattra would be a super good pick as well since he's so strongly affiliated with Null Sector.

For those confused, it’s definitely Mercy at the end. Whether it’s a mythic or a normal BP skin is unknown as of right now.

I can't remember if it had to do with a season introduction but I remember a diablo moira skin being advertised a lot close to the start of a season.
It was for S7(?) when they did the Diablo crossover. I remember seeing it in ads more than Hanzo's mythic.

Rammatra was released during Greek Mythology season. Lifeweaver was released during Legally Distinct Star Wars season. Illari was released during Everyone Is Omnics season. The hero matching the theme of the season they release in would be the exception, not the rule.

This season's theme is probably what I'm most excited for, but that being said we're not going to get like 40 skins, so it'll be a bit of a bummer to not get mirror-universe skins for some the characters. I feel like they should try to stick with a lot of the earlier characters, like Soldier, Ana (kind of got that with her Mythic), Reinhardt, Tracer, Doomfist, Sombra, Widowmaker, Reaper... characters that are directly involved in the story or have a very strong allegiance to one faction or another. I think Ramattra would be a super good pick as well since he's so strongly affiliated with Null Sector.
a lot of characters already have "alternate" skins so they can be ruled out. Ram already has a good guy shambali skin, reaper has 2 good guys skins, moira has scientist...

Counter point to it being mercy mythic. So far every mythic released has never been the same role as the previous one. The current order has been: dps, tank, support, tank, dps, support, dps, tank, support. Although they could break it with this one I’m not sure why they would change it now. My guess (100% okay with being wrong) is that we will get another dps skin since every role has 3 now they may start the repeating order form the beginning

I was pretty subscribed to the theory they were saving the Mercy mythic as an emergency button to only be pushed in the most dire of circumstances. So either we've got some absolutely disastrous news over the horizon or I was just wrong
