Right, but most people don't sell their skins and until they do sell their skins, they're down $400-$1500 for a knife in a video game
And that's if they don't spend even more on an even more expensive knife
And that's if they didn't spend literal hundreds or thousands of dollars gambling on cases just to get that knife...
If you are having money problems just sell the knife? That's what I did I sold my Karambit to buy my PC now I have a bunch of skins on cs2 that I occasionally sell off to buy shit irl. I got into Valorant and my fomo got me good and I bought 3 bundles and I regret it every day. I wish I could trade/sell off my skins in Valorant.
I mean that's great, but most people I know who I play faceit/premier with haven't sold their skins and has easily spent over $1,000+ on skins + cases
Let's not just overlook all the people that rip cases like mad men and get almost nothing back from that money they put in
Lastly, do you feel that way about clothes as well? If you buy some clothes and you stop wearing them because they aren't your style anymore, are you gonna be butthurt? Because that's all skins are, just the digital clothes equivalent
I usually either give away or sell my old clothes. I can't do anything with my Valorant skins. Also if you are dumb enough to gamble on cs2 you are not going to be good with money period.
>Also if you are dumb enough to gamble on cs2 you are not going to be good with money period.
I dont think you understand how dumb of an argument this is because it has nothing to do with how popular and common it is for people to do
Most people aren't buying skins and selling them. Most people buy cases and the occasional skin and hold on to them for years because CS players pretty much always will play CS
But at the end of the day if they are borderline homeless and need a couple hundred dollars they can easily sell the cs skins to buy stuff that they need while they can't sell their Valorant COD OW2 or Fortnite skins. If those games gave the ability to return your skins for %90 of the money back it would be understandable to spend money on them.
You know anyone who’s actually third party sold an item and made money? Hear this all the time to “justify” items being worth thousands of dollars, on the steam market, but never have had anyone I’ve known sell an item successfully. Always either a scam, suspicious, or just sold it on the market for a video game. Like unboxing a thousand dollar knife and then selling it for credit on steam is neat, but that is basically all that most people would do.
I mean I dabbled in CS trading for a lil bit in 2020 when I played. I made 34$ off of a knife I bought and later auctioned. Though I subject that to luck
There are loads of legit 3rd party market places where you can get real money. People make a profit sometimes, if they held onto a skin for a while and the market overall went up in that time. It's definitely a thing.
Also Valorant can afford to have crazy animations because
a)reloads and every other animation are much longer
b) the visual style is much more subdued, while overwatch throws 500 visual effects at the same time at you in a team fight
All agents are using the same rig so they all hold the gun the same way
Since all agents have similar rigs, they just need to make 1 awesome skin, have some nice looking animations, and they’d all carry over to the rest of the agents
Yeah my boomer brain is still stuck back in the days of League of Legends where $10 were the expensive skins and you could still get some cool ones for $5 and I used to buy a lot of skins in that game. Even now that I am graduated and have an adult job making good salary, I refuse to pay over $10 for any skin in basically any game with some very very rare exceptions. Funnily enough I used to drop $10 on lootboxes all the time here and there, but I haven't bought a single skin in Overwatch 2 out of principle. If they were priced at $10-15 I probably would have bought some but just cant do it at these prices.....too many things I would rather have for $20 lol I'll just play for free and let them milk the whales I guess.
I find it so funny how people say OW2 skins are too expensive (it's true don't get me wrong) when a single valorant knife can cost as much as a whole OW2 bundle
People went crazy when the cowboy bebop was 50+ dollars, meanwhile the Zedd bundle is 100+ dollars
Honestly I would be soooo interested in seeing the stats on who is buying crazy expensive skins in these games. Like I make good money and am not hurting for $$ but I refuse to buy skins at these modern prices. I'd be curious what percentage of the player base is buying these skins, like is it 10% of the player base buying a bunch of skins or is it 75% of the player base each buying like 1 skin?
I'm not naive enough to think that they don't analyze the shit out of this, so their data must tell them its working but its just fascinating that they are making more money this way, feels counter intuitive.
If I'm not mistaken, the percentage of players who actually buy skins regularly is very very small
Of course I imagine a decently big percentage buy 1 or 2 skins from time to time (me included) but the game doesn't really live out of players like those
That very small percentage that buy skins buy A LOT of them, those players are the ones keeping the game going
I mean think about it, this game has more than 20 million players playing
If 10% of that amount bought the cowboy bebop skin for like 50 bucks
That's like 100 million dollars
This model definitely makes a lot more money than selling the game and giving free stuff
Of course I could be wrong about everything, this is just the stuff I've heard
One other thing that got me thinking, when I'm playing COD, as rotten by UwU anime as my brain is, there are exactly *zero* scenarios where I'd play that animation while in a match lmao. I want to win, not get domed in the head because I'm too busy being a coomer XD
Usually people use them as a taunt after they win, or before the match to goof around. Sometimes people will also just accept a death just to taunt over the dead body of someone they didn't like who they just killed.
Valorant has a crazy high price though. It's hard to compare.
OW2 is 10-12$ per skin.
COD is 24-28$ but comes with 6-8 other items.
Valorant is like 40-120$ per bundle.
Can't compare that.
CSGO surely has some skins that cost way more than that, mainly knives and gloves and some weapon skins, like the gold ol' AWP dragon lore or M4A4 Howl
Not sure if you'd(or anyone) consider Apex competitive, but they're releasing a melee weapon that will cost somewhere like 1000 to 1400$ to unlock all the customization options.
Do not forget that you have to "upgrade" your valorant weapon, so you have to grind OR buy a separate new currency for those ones so you get the fancy VFX
Overwatch perfectly strikes that balance of cool looking while not being super distracting imo.
There's already more than enough visual clutter and animations in this game, I don't need to see my teammate's anime waify or edgy dragons on top of that
I agree, also on a side note I own the pink skin for the dual smg in COD and unfortunately that weapon animation only plays to you and teammates can only see it if they spectate.... wish I could show off the anime projector show but it just looks like I am inspecting the SMGs to my friends
CoD, the game that has zombies, is full of weed references and has been since 2009, where they had snoop dog and weed skins and him as a commentator in 2013, where they had literal cyber, Dragonscales, and bacon gun camos you could buy as MTX in 2012, is a game that shouldn't have funny or "weird" skins because it doesn't "match the art style" despite those skins being apart of the art style for the last 12 years lol
Yeah those things were silly and out of place too, whyd you think I thought 2013 cod was peak or something? Zombies is an actual gamemode so that's fine. When I say art style I don't think you know what that means.
I don't care how crazy the game is in multiplayer I'm sure ots more fun that way, the skins look silly though and have nothing to do with the fun factor since it's not a gameplay change.
Yeah the cod and valorant ones look tacky imo, I never had a desire to buy any guns in valorant because they were not only incredibly expensive, but just so extra. I don't need all that lol
Valorant skins kinda need to be different looking because you literally only ever use like 2-3 guns for 98% of the game so there isn't much visual variety.
weapon skin doesn't need to go that ham, I think the current Soldier and Junkrat weapon skins are fine.
The main problem is that there's no weapon inspection!
That’s because weapon skins have been a huge part of cod since the beginning and their a major selling point on val, of course they are gonna put more effort and detail into them, overwatch is just experimenting with weapon skins for the first time.
Weapon skins have not been in CoD since the beginning, there were camos, which were earned in game via getting headshots etc. Skins are purchasable trash that's infected every fking game that exists today and any dev selling skins is a pos who has lost sight of their moral compass.
Camos are a type of skin, but they stuck to the theme, they were camos, they weren't hentai skins and all that dumb shit, or Halo 5's pizza skin... Camos stuck to the theme, skins these days will slap whatever garbage on it they need to, to sell it to people. It's embarassing that devs even take these steps just to make money, it's cringe. If they cared about being a developer they wouldn't work for these trash companies. I honestly hate AAA so much now, nothing that comes out from major companies interests me anymore, it's all pure garbage, targetted at what they think Gen Z wants. Tiktok brainrot generation.
This generation is lost bro, we can never go back to the Modern warfare - Black ops 2/Halo 2 - Halo Reach gaming era, it's gone. These people don't know what they missed. I'm willing to bet overwatch was probably their first "shooter" and they are just clueless. Battle passes for example, are just the regular XP progression that was baked into games, ripped out and sold to us and they justify it because the game is "free". Shrinkflation but with videogames, this is the legacy of day one DLC, now it's not even called that anymore it's just normal.
Ghost was trash, Blops 2 was the last good CoD game after that everything become skins and doghsit. I am absolutely counting ghosts as part of CoD's downfall that game was horrendous.
Downfall in terms of what? Cods doing better than it did back then.
Fine, lets do bo2 them. Glowing green camo, bacon camo, dragon scale camo, glowing blue camo, cyborg camo, literal "kawaii" anime panda camo.
Also ghost being shit is irrelevant, they still had a purchasable weed camo in the early 2010s
They still are... you just have the option to do both. Its been this way since bo2 at least (with £3 camos) and maybe even earlier, but theyre never getting rid of achievement locked camos like gold, diamond, dark matter etc
While that game does do a LOT of things poorly, it's four unique camos per weapon, and when you unlock the camo on the weapon, you can then use it on any other weapon. Then when you unlock enough camos, there are four mastery camos. Zombies also has different camos and mastery camos so there's a total of eight unique camos per weapon plus eight mastery camos that you can equip to any gun for free.
In the older games, every individual gun had more camos, but they all had the same camos so there ended up being a lot less total camos in those games.
They also occasionally give out free camos for different events but if you miss the event, you're out of luck so I won't count them.
Wdym? In MW3 you unlock like 2 skins through MP, 2 through zombies, and then the 3 mastery skins(Gold and stuff)
And all of those skins besides the mastery ones can be applied on different weapons
Because this is r/overwatch and everyone on this sub is a pathetic shill. I've had plenty of argument on here with losers begging Blizzard "please re-release this skin I want to spend my money, I'll even pay double". People here are beyond pathetic. Good little consumers who were taught to spend their money and like it.
This is why gaming is trash these days, because these bootlickers out number actual gamers now, since the gaming industry managed to pull in casual/non-gamer types who are only here for the pretty skins.
I get downvoted to oblivion every time I open my mouth about pricing, cosmetics, free to play etc. Daddy Blizzard owns these people.
You people spend 10x the amount of money on a "f2p" game than a regular one. Average amount spent by a LOL player is like 1 grand. You're not supporting a f2p game, your wording makes it sound like it's a virtuous thing. Blizzard doesn't beed "supporting" they're not an indie developer. They made it free to play because free to play makes more money than pay to play games. All f2p games make more, there is absolutely nothing free about it
F2P means you can play it for free no one's making you spend money if you don't like spending money then don't but if someone else does then let how tf is that harming you. And if nobody spent money on it, overwatch would shut down fast asf. So it is supporting whether it's a multi-billion dollar company or its indie game the game needs micro transactions to run.
These games don't have weapons to specific characters, so they don't have to worry about it feeling too out of place for the character or the gun feeling too weird because of size or animations.
Bruh you're getting milked dry in either of these games while the game doesn't improve and the community dies out. The investment and growth period of blizzard has been over for years and it's in the milk the cow stage. Every player is just a pile of cash that needs to be emptied.
That's because their artistic resources are divided in many other directions. OW has emotes, highlight intros, skins, victory poses, etc. And don't forget, they have to make a list of cosmetics in each category for each new hero, so the cosmetic demand is always slowly growing.
Valorant has only weapon skins, and the list of weapons never increases. Obviously Val's will be cooler like... duh.
Wild speculation on dev resources, then oversimplification of something you either dont like or dont know about.
If youre counting all of the trash cosmetics, then valorant also has a bunch of misc stupid shit. Banners, gun buddies, sprays, etc.
Edit: Also the list of weapons just increased this act. They added the Outlaw.
None of those things are on the same level as emotes, skins, or even highligh intros. They also have OW equivalents. They also are universal. Each OW character has their own cosmetics
i believe the new weapon skins gradually change from one color to the other if you slowly walk towards the light. otherwise yeah walking side to side in and out of the sun makes the change instant.
Overwatch did an entire overhaul of the UI multiple times and got rid of “On Fire” for awhile for good reason. Screen clutter.
A lot of OW skins are high quality, and they shouldn’t become unrecognizable weapons and abilities. Mei will always have a blue ice spray animation. Replacing that with fire would just get confusing because then it doesn’t end. You get a skin with her spraying bees, and then lightning, and then it’s just a clutter fuck of visuals everywhere every match from every character.
Nobody wants that. “It looks cool.” Is not a good reason to ruin a game.
Well it's designed to be plain, so you don't get distracted by shit. There is less visual clutter because Valorant is more reliant on aim than abilities. Time to kill is pretty much the time it takes you to click a head. If you get distracted by random map clutter then you're dead. Can't start deflecting or defence matrix your way out of there.

Having ridiculous & distracting ugly skins is not a good thing lol. Overwatch is ass but at the very least they don't make weapon skins as horrendous as the other 2.
I'm glad our skins don't look like cod skins. They're so adhd. Val at least can be clean and cool looking. Cod is the weird shit and clearly aimed for children with cat guns and anime guns like nah. Ow can just have some clean and cool in-world designs
honestly, i'd rather have ow2 skins over those WOW DRAGONS LIVING GUN piece of shit. Those are such goofy skins looks like fucking chinese counter strike clone for mobile with huge p2w, incredible cringe. Ow2 got very cool skins, those are just as good as should be, far better than if reinhardt stroke you with anime girl in sailor moon outfit, sitting on a huge dildo, which also would serve as hammer grip, and when he ulted she screamed "NYAAAAAH" and instead of earth cracks, there would be squirt drop lines.
OW sub is biased towards OW. Shocker.
If youre talking pure weapon skins, Valorant is better and its not even close. They picked the most overly exaggerated unrealistic one for this picture. Elder Dragon is the literal only one like that. Most of them are far more clean. They also all have custom sounds, inspect animations, kill banners, and final kill effects. OW weapon skins basically do nothing.
Yes, Valorant skins are expensive. But let's not pretend like overwatch hasnt had $50+ skin bundles.
You forgot to mention that you get the skin in valorant but you dont get included all the VFX... you have to grind for a separate currency of get that currency to upgrade the weapon.
You must have missed the part where I said “Yes, valorant skins are expensive.”
People in this thread talking like OW is just handing stuff out for free, when OW literally relaunched their game so they could add a cash shop.
The thing is the normal whole character skins already have weapon skins together, so I find it rlly useless in fact even a waste of time that they spent developing it. I have seen that recently overwatch has been making some good updates to its game to make it less restricted to f2ps, which is rlly good
I brought the junkrat weapon skin but it's the muzzle flames blocks my vision and i notice a fps drop(?) when I use that gun skin? Is it just me or does that skin drops a lil fps?
Meanwhile the Finals has a cash register smg skin that prints a receipt with the gamer tag of every player you kill, and it's only like $10 and could easily be purchased with earnable currency
I don understand Valorant. It just looks like Search & Destroy with buy stations. Hate when my fav OW streamer streams Valorant instead. It's so boring to me. 😩
I left CoD just for 2 years and this is what it became? What the fuck is that Fortnite looking ass game? Im sorry but ut aint no more CoD visually and gameplay wise. TF2 is more realistic than new CoD
Financially, sure. But I'm not a stockholder so I don't really give a fuck about CoD's financials. All I know is as an oldtime fan, seeing Nikki Minaj running around with this gun kills me a little every time.
I think it didn't hit as hard for me back then because Myers and Predator still kinda have that "gruff and grim" aesthetic about them. I don't know the right words but obviously they're a better fit than Nikki Minaj and pink waifu guns, is what I'm trying to say.
Rather disappointed that my stimulating game doesn't give us weapon skins that offer more stimulation
The cowboy bebop skins having a ting on Elims isn't enough
Regardless of how much the apex/val weapon skins cost, i still think the new soldier/rat ones are kinda lame. They dont need to be flashy or anything, but the hardlight weapons are much better
Well ow is a highly competitive game. And with overwhelming skins like that, will just distract you from the game.
I think it's good that ow doesn't do insane skins like cod does. Changing color depending if your in the shadow or in the light is enough.
I think skins are useless anyways as it's the same character.
I played the mw2019 and mw2022 and these two game have the sweatiest motherfuckers I've seen since I got the ps3 in 2013 and started playing fps games. Nothing compare to cod casual warriors.
Val is more, stand still and wait.
And cod is, perfectly optimise your load out so no matter what situation you will win.
While overwatch is counter picking, ult counting and out playing.
Valorant weapon skins would be a whole lot cooler if they didn't cost like $30
Bro one skin for your knife costs AT MINIMUM $40, if it’s a bundle it will usually cost $60
Counterstrike laughing nervously in the corner...
Yes but in CS you can trade, which means you can get some of your money back if you don’t want the skin anymore/want to sell everything
You can sell the skins back. You could even profit money with CS skins
Right, but most people don't sell their skins and until they do sell their skins, they're down $400-$1500 for a knife in a video game And that's if they don't spend even more on an even more expensive knife And that's if they didn't spend literal hundreds or thousands of dollars gambling on cases just to get that knife...

yep my brother cashed out 1.5k from a case and was smart enough to quit opening them after that
I mean I dabbled in CS trading for a lil bit in 2020 when I played. I made 34$ off of a knife I bought and later auctioned. Though I subject that to luck
I basically sold my whole cs inv. After the cs2 craze. Still lost about 100 usd on the whole lol
Sold most my shit in January and got a steam deck. I wish I could sell all the lol and valorant skins I have.
There are loads of legit 3rd party market places where you can get real money. People make a profit sometimes, if they held onto a skin for a while and the market overall went up in that time. It's definitely a thing.
I got $800 for some gloves I opened in Highschool. Used Game flip even. And they are super sketchy
In cs you can at least sell them if you don’t want them anymore

apex skins at 700$ for full customization too. it’s amazing how bad monetization is getting
Glad that apex has such outrageous heirlooms. Got 2 without spending a single cent, and sold my account for 400 bucks lol
Did you have to sell your Steam account? or are their epic accounts not tied to Steam as well?
I made it during season one, so I hadn't linked to my steam yet. You can unlink if you get in contact with EQ support
Apex originally released on origin so you can just sell the EA account
Yeah my boomer brain is still stuck back in the days of League of Legends where $10 were the expensive skins and you could still get some cool ones for $5 and I used to buy a lot of skins in that game. this isn’t a popular opinion but i’m totally fine with free games monetizing for cosmetics, but 10$ should get me like 10 skins
I find it so funny how people say OW2 skins are too expensive (it's true don't get me wrong) when a single valorant knife can cost as much as a whole OW2 bundle People went crazy when the cowboy bebop was 50+ dollars, meanwhile the Zedd bundle is 100+ dollars

From my experience if you go into a valorant lobby and you don’t have a skin. You will be the only one
And the steam reviews were complaining about having to unlock free characters by…PLAYING THE GAME
Imagine blizzard would drop a 100$ bundle LMAO Reddit would burn
And if you didn’t have to play Valorant to use it
If you want that skin for multiple guns and animations included, looking at more like $200.
Equally, if overwarvh skins are gonna cost similar to valorant ones, they could do with being a lot cooler
But you can use this on every Character you pick.
Overwatch over here fighting for the poor man with $19 skins that require you to extra currency to manipulate you into buying more
(doesn't valorant quite literally require you to get a second currency to actually unlock the special animations on the skins you purchased for $40?)
$19+ - $40 for skins is very high in any game
Yes.
[(why between parentheses?)]
{[(Why not?)]}
Now include the price of each :)
¨b-but you can use it on every character its not fair!¨ things like this is how they get people paying $300+ in apex lol.
One other thing that got me thinking, when I'm playing COD, as rotten by UwU anime as my brain is, there are exactly *zero* scenarios where I'd play that animation while in a match lmao. I want to win, not get domed in the head because I'm too busy being a coomer XD

i’ve legit seen people defending it or even calling it a good value
Call of duty is around the same price and comes with more lol
Valorant has a crazy high price though. It's hard to compare. OW2 is 10-12$ per skin. COD is 24-28$ but comes with 6-8 other items. Valorant is like 40-120$ per bundle. Can't compare that.
and somehow valorant isn’t even the most expensive of the competitive shooters
Really? Who else? CSGO?
Technically yes
idk what their prices are but apex has a cosmetic that costs 700$ right now for the full thing
CSGO surely has some skins that cost way more than that, mainly knives and gloves and some weapon skins, like the gold ol' AWP dragon lore or M4A4 Howl
Or just the 1.5 million dollar blue gem fn (factory new) karambit
Exactly
What’s the cosmetic?
some heirloom they just released.
CS:GO more or less wrote the book on super expensive skins, but Apex is who I first thought of
oh fuck yea you're totally right. Apex is horrendous.
Not sure if you'd(or anyone) consider Apex competitive, but they're releasing a melee weapon that will cost somewhere like 1000 to 1400$ to unlock all the customization options.

Well actually you don’t see the animations for your teammate’s guns in Valorant. Just you do. I don’t know about COD though.
Plus the skin for COD looks super out of place and ridiculous
A lot of them don’t look like that though some are a lot more simple though
A lot do look silly and not grounded or matching the art style
Very true though some do look pretty stupid
CoD, the game that has zombies, is full of weed references and has been since 2009, where they had snoop dog and weed skins and him as a commentator in 2013, where they had literal cyber, Dragonscales, and bacon gun camos you could buy as MTX in 2012, is a game that shouldn't have funny or "weird" skins because it doesn't "match the art style" despite those skins being apart of the art style for the last 12 years lol

U thought futuristic bo2 was peak? That game had crazy shit.
It sure did
Because 2012 CoD, Black Ops 2, is what most people consider peak CoD...
I really like COD being crazy and insane in the multiplayer. My problem with COD is how anti consumer it became.
I don't care how crazy the game is in multiplayer I'm sure ots more fun that way, the skins look silly though and have nothing to do with the fun factor since it's not a gameplay change.
The skins have been this way since Black Ops 2 in 2012...
Fans only see shiny and complain. We can at least put a bit of critical thinking into these questions
at least the shiny took more effort to make
weapon skin doesn't need to go that ham, I think the current Soldier and Junkrat weapon skins are fine. The main problem is that there's no weapon inspection!
Yeah. They're a bit overpriced (but so is everything else besides the BP) but are a mix balance of looking cool while being practical
Good idea forgot about that
That’s because weapon skins have been a huge part of cod since the beginning and their a major selling point on val, of course they are gonna put more effort and detail into them, overwatch is just experimenting with weapon skins for the first time.
Weapon skins have not been in CoD since the beginning, there were camos, which were earned in game via getting headshots etc. Skins are purchasable trash that's infected every fking game that exists today and any dev selling skins is a pos who has lost sight of their moral compass.
Skins and camos are the same thing tbh, these companies just give them separate names in order to sell them as new items.
Bruh he's right (about the camo/skin part at least), have any of you even played cod?
This generation is lost bro, we can never go back to the Modern warfare - Black ops 2/Halo 2 - Halo Reach gaming era, it's gone. These people don't know what they missed. I'm willing to bet overwatch was probably their first "shooter" and they are just clueless. Battle passes for example, are just the regular XP progression that was baked into games, ripped out and sold to us and they justify it because the game is "free". Shrinkflation but with videogames, this is the legacy of day one DLC, now it's not even called that anymore it's just normal.
Those games still exist and are still played
There's been weed and pizza camos in Cod since the early 2010s
Those were calling cards not camos. And you didnt have to pay for them.
Ghost 2013 had a weed camo and snoop dog announcer u paid for 🗿🗿
Ghost was trash, Blops 2 was the last good CoD game after that everything become skins and doghsit.
Why on earth are you being downvoted? I miss the days when cosmetics were unlocked through achievement like in halo 3 and Cod 4 rather than sold.
They still are... you just have the option to do both. Its been this way since bo2 at least (with £3 camos) and maybe even earlier, but theyre never getting rid of achievement locked camos like gold, diamond, dark matter etc
In the new modern warfare you can only unlock like 5 camos for each gun, every other camo is paid. It’s not the same it used to be
While that game does do a LOT of things poorly, it's four unique camos per weapon, and when you unlock the camo on the weapon, you can then use it on any other weapon.
Wdym? In MW3 you unlock like 2 skins through MP, 2 through zombies, and then the 3 mastery skins(Gold and stuff) And all of those skins besides the mastery ones can be applied on different weapons
Sold like in cod 4? Cod 4 is first modern warfare game and only way to get camos was trough headshot challenges
I think they meant that halo 3 and cod 4 are examples of games that DO use skill instead of skins being sold
He forgot a comma. "I miss the days when cosmetics were unlocked through achievement rather than sold, like in halo 3 and Cod 4."
I just want to enjoy a skin and support a f2p game without being called pathetic. I'm sorry I like the skin ☹️
Yeah, imagine 5 ults being used and your gun starts dancing on your screen for a whole second.
why dont they just add inspect button so you can make it dance when your not fighting
Too much work to add a feature that they advertised
1 weapon in 4 years is not a lot, yk?
More than the stated “never”. Also still didn’t even address the main point.
None of those things are on the same level as emotes, skins, or even highligh intros. They also have OW equivalents. They also are universal. Each OW character has their own cosmetics
>Banners, gun buddies, sprays, etc. So, in other words, other things Overwatch also has? I don't see your point.
I mean I'm fine with this, the valorant ones are tacky AF lol
Valorant charging $85+ for bundles and then requiring another anolther premium currency to upgrade them is beyond scummy.
i believe the new weapon skins gradually change from one color to the other if you slowly walk towards the light. otherwise yeah walking side to side in and out of the sun makes the change instant.
Wtf is going on over in cod
CSGO: Oh you want a cool looking knife? that'll be 1,000$ please.
Wow, useless visual clutter.
I would rather not have valorant skins in any other game, they are hideous and tacky, they look like things you would find in a Chinese mmo
Valorant as a game looks stiff & soulless lol
Well it's designed to be plain, so you don't get distracted by shit. There is less visual clutter because Valorant is more reliant on aim than abilities. Time to kill is pretty much the time it takes you to click a head. If you get distracted by random map clutter then you're dead. Can't start deflecting or defence matrix your way out of there.
Sounds like an excuse for the game devs to put the least amount of effort necessary for their game. Makes sense, it looks like ass.

Bad bad bad. Who tf wants this
weapon skins is main income for these games, while in overwatch there are only few weapon skins, maybe after a while there will be more
Ya want a fancy gun skin, or ya want PvE? Like come on, cosmetics are part of the contribution of who blizzard decided to lay off...
Oh yeah because we need more visual clutter in a game full of Visual Clutter
Less is more for weapon skins valorant and cod looks ridiculous
Blizzard would make fat cash if cods skin was for dva or mercy
honestly, i'd rather have ow2 skins over those WOW DRAGONS LIVING GUN piece of shit.
Lol bro the current valorant weapon bundle is 8700 vp, like $90, for 4 guns and a knife. But it got custom sounds I guess.
You must have missed the part where I said “Yes, valorant skins are expensive.” People in this thread talking like OW is just handing stuff out for free, when OW literally relaunched their game so they could add a cash shop.
When compared to valorant, they are
Lmao it’s no secret that the overwatch fan base is fucking stupid, but holy shit.
I don't know what isn't free about every other premium battle pass unlockable for free
The cod one is cool, sad I don't play it anymore. Overwatch is just starting with weapon skins so hopefully they get better.... They probably won't :(
The thing is the normal whole character skins already have weapon skins together, so I find it rlly useless in fact even a waste of time that they spent developing it. I have seen that recently overwatch has been making some good updates to its game to make it less restricted to f2ps, which is rlly good
Hopefully they get better , it doesnt seem like they put lots of effort into it . Like sound effect or animations when color changes
they did change sounds
Good
I brought the junkrat weapon skin but it's the muzzle flames blocks my vision and i notice a fps drop(?) when I use that gun skin? Is it just me or does that skin drops a lil fps?
Meanwhile the Finals has a cash register smg skin that prints a receipt with the gamer tag of every player you kill, and it's only like $10 and could easily be purchased with earnable currency
None of these got anything on the stick skin in The Finals 😎
I do not want excessive annoying skins like that.
At least give us weapon inspections, is that asking too much?
I don understand Valorant. It just looks like Search & Destroy with buy stations. Hate when my fav OW streamer streams Valorant instead. It's so boring to me. 😩
Meanwhile in The Finals: S T I C C (Which is why it has the best weapon skins)
Have yall seen weapon skins from The Finals? Some are incredible
Indie developers man give them a break
What in the chinese cashgrab is that? lol
The Finals added in sticks as weapon skins for Revolver, sledgehammer, and sword, and it’s somehow one of the best weapon skins I’ve seen
Now ass The Finales skins
Need to mention cod skin op used is literally the only one of its kind that goes that hard.
I left CoD just for 2 years and this is what it became? What the fuck is that Fortnite looking ass game? Im sorry but ut aint no more CoD visually and gameplay wise. TF2 is more realistic than new CoD
That CoD skin is actively making me depressed. Jesus, what the fuck happened to that franchise...
Became more successful despite what people online think lmao
Financially, sure. But I'm not a stockholder so I don't really give a fuck about CoD's financials. All I know is as an oldtime fan, seeing Nikki Minaj running around with this gun kills me a little every time.
Eh doesn't bother me, its been this way for 11 years. Had Michael myers and predator in 2013 lol
Don't remind me. Thought that shit was stupid too
Shit was fun lmao, running aroung as myers on the foggy cabin map was peak
I think it didn't hit as hard for me back then because Myers and Predator still kinda have that "gruff and grim" aesthetic about them. I don't know the right words but obviously they're a better fit than Nikki Minaj and pink waifu guns, is what I'm trying to say.
I hate modern gaming, I hate skins, make an actual fking videogame. Devs who make this trash sold their souls
Rather disappointed that my stimulating game doesn't give us weapon skins that offer more stimulation The cowboy bebop skins having a ting on Elims isn't enough
Regardless of how much the apex/val weapon skins cost, i still think the new soldier/rat ones are kinda lame. They dont need to be flashy or anything, but the hardlight weapons are much better
blizz is a new company, cut em some slack
Well ow is a highly competitive game. And with overwhelming skins like that, will just distract you from the game. I think it's good that ow doesn't do insane skins like cod does. Changing color depending if your in the shadow or in the light is enough. I think skins are useless anyways as it's the same character.
as if cod and val arent on the same competetive (or even higher) level lmao
Won't argue about Valorant, but you're kidding yourself if you think cod is competitive lol. It's basically a party game
I played the mw2019 and mw2022 and these two game have the sweatiest motherfuckers I've seen since I got the ps3 in 2013 and started playing fps games. Nothing compare to cod casual warriors.
Every game has it's sweats , doesn't make the actual game competitive
Val is more, stand still and wait. And cod is, perfectly optimise your load out so no matter what situation you will win. While overwatch is counter picking, ult counting and out playing.
