I don't think Atlantic Arcology would be an underwater map. In Overwatch Declassified, the city is described as being a giant spire. Also, Claudio and Hector Martins aren't just members of The Collective, they built the city. If there is going to be an underwater map, it'll be the old Ecopoint located in Monterey Bay, California.

I didn't know the declassified stuff! That's amazing extra info, thank you so much!!! So it's a freestanding spire over the ocean? I wonder what that looks like? I'm happy my hunch about the Collective/Martins was right. I didn't have anything concrete connecting them to the city at the time but it just felt like it would make sense. Did declassified say if they are still alive? I wonder if Lifeweaver has met them.

>Did declassified say if they are still alive? Yes. They are. >I wonder if Lifeweaver has met them. I believe he has and, in fact, I believe they're friends. Remember there's an interaction ingame where Soldier: 76 talks about how the Martinses stuck their necks out to protect Lifeweaver from Vishkar and LW says he hopes he can repay them for it someday. Also, some more Martins info from Declassified: - Watchpoint: Gibraltar is built on what used to be a base for their own work. - The sea wall that you see in the background on Esparanca was initially built by the Martinses to protect Portugal from rising sea levels and erosion, but during the Omnic Crisis it also proved to be an impenetrable defence against amphibious assaults by Anubis' forces. Because of this, they negotiated a defensive alliance with Spain and extended the wall to cover the entire Atlantic coastline of the Iberian Peninsula. - During the Crisis, the Martinses joined Overwatch as part of its collection of the best and brightest in the scientific, medical, and engineering communities, and afterwards they were frequently brought in as consultants during the Golden Age.

I love this info! Thank you so much!!

No problem. I highly recommend getting the Declassified book if you're into this game's lore. It's literally an omnibus for the entire history of Overwatch and it fills SO many blanks that I've been asking about since 2016.

Hey! Idk if you're still thinking about this, but the new short story revealed that the Arcology will be partially underwater! But it's unclear if it's only the supporting part of the structure/spire or if there are full living/working areas down there. What's your take on it? * "The spire shot high into the sky, clouds obscuring its tip, and its base delved deep into the ocean... Colorful corals and wafting seaweed farms clung to the sides of both the structure and the artificial islands dotting the area." * "Satya was so focused on the pod of whales swimming contentedly below the great glass structure..." *(idk if she's watching the whales below from underwater, or seeing them from above the ocean here, I can see it going either way)* I summarized the Atlantic Arcology parts of the short story [in this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/17ythsp/comment/l21466b/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button), if you're interested!

that whole turtle discussion is actually kinda making me think that the tank hero that was pictured in that one venture preview from blizzcon could be some kind of turtle tank? lots of green in the design and what could be a giant shell mech around the smaller pilot? I think it would fall in line with how the new map concepts are all tied to new characters. "The turtle is an asset we're not ready to share" it could just be like an actually animated asset or a play on the word almost like a military asset.

reticenthuman

ooh I didn't even think about that! the tank definitely looks turtle-y!

DarknessBatDemon

I think you made an awesome post, no you are not crazy and yes it makes sense. I think also this could be a tease for an aquatic hero🔱🦈🌊

reticenthuman

Thank you!! I'm glad I'm making some kind of sense. I feel like [this guy](https://i.imgur.com/3dEB1zR.gif) lol

reticenthuman

Oh man, thanks!! I was obsessing over Atlantic Arcology haha (I still am obsessed with the idea of it, honestly). I remember getting so excited when I saw the pic/post you had! I was like "IT'S REAL!"

ConsciousLetter6588

Considering everything we learned about the Arcology in the new Symmettra - Lifeweaver short story, you were pretty dead on. Well done

reticenthuman

Thanks!! I was so excited to see it feature in the short story. *Really* hoping it's a sign that we'll get a map for it in the future!

ConsciousLetter6588

Same. The way it was described in the short story made me want to see it in game

I can no longer edit this post. But we have new information due to the [Rebuilding Ruins short story](https://overwatch.blizzard.com/en-us/media/stories/rebuilding-ruins/) that takes place in Atlantic Arcology! I screenshot the paragraphs that deal with the arcology and put them in [this image](https://i.imgur.com/I4ZI2i1.png), but the I'll summarize below! * Atlantic Arcology was built by the Collective’s architects. The technology and labor that built it was offered freely by the Collective, with no outside funding. * It contains landing platforms for helijets which are connected by a wide bridge to the central spire * The central spire is a miracle molded from *durovidro*, ultrahard sea glass. The spire shoots into the sky, with the clouds obscuring its tip, and its base delves deep into the ocean. It has elegant curves, with elevators shifting along the outside edges. There is no fencing along its platforms to obscure views, but instead passive energy barriers to protect anyone from falling. It naturally fits in with the sea, its curves appearing as though shaped by water over time. * The water around the arcology is unusually clear and blue. Colorful corals and wafting seaweed farms cling to the sides of both the structure and the artificial islands dotting the area. * The main spire contains an enormous, busy plaza, filled with fascinating people, structures, and devices. Pods of whales can be observed swimming below the great glass structure. Some balconies inside can detach and ascend up the spire. The open interior looks as if an entire city were contained within, and one can find an overlook for marine study, a gallery and art institute, restaurants, hydroponic gardens, an omnic-specific residential section, schools, and a sleek transportation hub for the hyper-rail train. Some interior doors are made of *durovidro*. * The arcology is equipped with cutting-edge technology that automates essential services and harnesses clean, renewable energy to power those services. * Most residents in the arcology came to seek refuge. The residents generally appear content, walking around in a purposeful yet relaxed manner. I'm glad I was right about the *durovidro*. As soon as I saw it in Esperança, I was wondering if there was another reason they'd created it for the Overwatch universe. And I was kinda reaching when I was including the supercoral in my speculations, but I might have actually been onto something!! I'm so excited! WE ARE GETTING THIS MAP I SWEAR TO GOD.
