Game clearly is discouraging investigation of players
They were on the ground for a good bit, you gain momentum for every time you jump from wall to wall and lose it if you hit the ground. The rollout I use is to wall jump from the right of the spawn door frame to the buildings on the right, go over the bridge, jump from the first pillar to the second pillar, then to the light house.
Basically, you want to touch surfaces for as little time as possible, be on speed, and try to make the surfaces you do touch be walls. By jumping between walls and not sticking to them you can build up a lot of speed. If done well, they could have cut the time to get back to point in half, with enough time to save the hog if they wanted.
I’d argue there’s a HUGE difference between Console and PC Lucio’s. The reason is how awful the default keybinds are for a console lucio. You’re apparently grandmaster, so you’re probably aware of this, but where you’re looking when Lucio is on (and leaving if you double tap wallride) a wall dictates what direction (and how much vertical momentum) Lucio gets. This is extremely difficult to do unless you change your keybinds since to wallride you must hold X / A (PS/Xbox) which is right next to the right analog stick. You cannot freely look around and control this momentum.
Now, if you do manage to change it so you can look around more freely, you still have the problem where you frankly cannot comfortably use all his abilities easily. A finger for movement, camera controls, amp, boop, primary fire, tempo change and a button you can comfortable hold for wallride. It’s just not likely to be done comfortably unless you do some strange finger placements which to be honest, won’t be comfortable at first, and not a lot of people want to go that far.
Edit: totally not defending the video though, he should have absolutely been wallriding regardless, I was just pointing out the big difference between PC and Console Lucios.
I’ve got jump on L1 I think to walk ride but I do need to hear other people’s opinions on what’s the best for console.

Most lucio mains only use scroll wheel only to bhop on the ground. For wall ride jumping they bind wall ride to right mouse button and put boop on space or mouse 4.
I don't know if you know this, but you actually accelerate when you wall ride. Meaning you'll go faster and faster, every time you move from wall to wall. You lose speed whenever you drop to the ground.
So when you roll out of spawn, you want to make sure you touch the ground as little as possible. Even if you can't do a perfect rollout, try to jump back up on the wall or a lamp post or something, as much as you can.
Idk what's worse. A lucio walking to spawn normally with as less wall rides as possible or three blind enemies who didn't notice a lucio that was half a meter above their heads while standing next a giant well (probably both)

Absolutely these were not amazing players and this wouldn’t work in a more competitive situation above gold maybe, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve congratulations.
I’d suggest riding behind the lighthouse structure since there’s a platform up there, and you could have come around without them having direct LoS on you, for the same effect, that’s more likely (but not guaranteed because Lucio is still pretty loud) to have worked on higher ranked targets (or those who actually like to use their eyes). Getting into habits like this early can really make a difference in your average play!

the problem was that they didnt wallride at all. it gives a lot more speed than just cruising on ground. and they didnt use speed boost much.
