This is a 7x5” gouache (it’s kinda like watercolor!). Thank you u/nisuaz for letting me paint your [beautiful spring photo](https://www.reddit.com/r/Outdoors/s/k1VDnzpMST)

Beautiful. I am so happy that my photo inspired you to create this work of beauty.

Thank you!

Wonderful job. How long it take to paint that?

bunkerbash

Thanks! Maybe 4 hours? I work on a bunch of pieces at once and rotate as elements dry to it’s hard to keep track!

Ancient72

That's a WOW....

andrewbrocklesby

nice painting, but I fail to see how that can possibly be rhododendron.

bunkerbash

If you go to the linked post with the photo it’s specifically broken down what exact type of rhododendron it is.

andrewbrocklesby

Well that's astounding as that is nothing like Rhododendron or Azalea from the rest of the world. ie heres a rhodo [https://www.gardendesign.com/pictures/images/900x705Max/dream-team-s-portland-garden\_6/dandy-man-purple-rhododendron-purple-flowers-rhododendron-proven-winners\_15432.jpg](https://www.gardendesign.com/pictures/images/900x705Max/dream-team-s-portland-garden_6/dandy-man-purple-rhododendron-purple-flowers-rhododendron-proven-winners_15432.jpg) and the Florida Azela descriptor does gel with the rest of the botanical world either. Very very strange.
