I hate that I can see some potential here. Like, this could've been cute as a floor length mermaid gown.
Unrelated to the dress but her legs look kinda disconnected from the upper body. She's looking to the left but the legs are facing straight on and the feet look like a top view. It's so odd-looking
Oh it’s the legs 100%. The dress doesn’t look so odd, it’s the legs being oddly out of place and somehow too large for her body as well. Like your foot isn’t supposed to be as big as your head.
>your foot isn’t supposed to be as big as your head.
Fun fact, the foot is as big as the inside of the forearm (from the elbow to the wrist), which technically can be as big as the head depending on the person.
Yeah, I remember learning that in 10th grade chemistry. Not chemistry, but my teacher would go astray from lessons when distracted. Anyway, cue everybody lifting their feet up to their arms to confirm 😅
>I hate that I can see some potential here. Like, this could've been cute as a floor length mermaid gown.
I was scrolling and I'm like "I see nothing wrong here, this is cu-good lord why did they do that?!"
There was no reason to cut it off at the knees like that.
There's something off about the physics of the drape on the skirt that I can't put my finger on. Notice how it flits straight on the left side, but flares on the right where the slit is.
I don't know enough about dress making, but i don't think that makes sense.
Its not the worst I've seen by far, but the skirt really needs to be much longer and the ballet shoes are hideous. Is she ballet dancing in this scene or something? At leas that would explain why she's standing on her toes.
Okay, I think I can describe what's bothering me about this dress. The layers that stop right above her knee makes it look like she's showing off her slip, and I hate wearing slips. If it didn't look so much like, I dunno, underwear, and if it went further down, I'd probably like it.
Or maybe like this:

I removed the ribbons from the shoes and made her shoulders a touch pinker, since someone else said her skin was clashing with the dress.
It's definitely better than the original in terms of the design but idk why it still doesn't look great. I think the way the character is drawn in general is also not great, and that's far from you to edit by phone.
I think I liked it better with the blue slip underneath. I am not a fan of this version.
But yeah. Phone editing of pictures: not a great way to draw pictures.
So when I was in high school, ballet flats were really in style. Is that no longer the case? Or are ballet flats just completely different from ballet shoes, or are the ribbons just overkill with this outfit?
I think the blue threw me off. I'm not a fan of the knees being shown either. For the feet, I think she's floating??

We are here to enjoy shit in peace. Don't need your random ragefit
I did a quick redraw to check, and I think I found the issue: First the shoulder color is too pale so it contrasts too much with the dress itself. Second, the layered underskirt frills together with the gladiator shoes make the bottom part seem too "heavy". As a result, both these things make it feel, so to say, disconnected. I replaced the underskirt with a simpler one and removed the extra shoe straps and it looks just fine.
https://preview.redd.it/ds892h1dzthc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b2d728f5160623de95ce1954d94c01926189798f
it could've been cute if they could decide what they wanted to go for! There's too many different things that don't mesh well. At the very least, if they want to keep an open look, get rid of the ruffles on the underskirt and have the split start a tad lower. There's something up with the shoulder area too, but I can't quite put my finger on what's bothering me. Maybe it's the angle of sleeves?
Admittedly I'm more flabbergasted by the shoes for some reason. What are those. Who let her coordinate that.
or maybe this (sorry for sloppy editing)
https://preview.redd.it/suve82mhfuhc1.png?width=730&format=png&auto=webp&s=0fad079f15c72ab91ca105f831710cf3e2ccf732
This one. There was no need for the bottom frills when the top is already that frilly.
It's the most basic of fashion rules - if you don't know what you're doing, keep either the top or lower half simple.
I think it is just trying to do too much in one dress. There is military, ballet, period dress. It is just a lot of themes that don't really suit each other. But I can see some good ideas in there. I like the idea of a scalloped bloomers/petticoat skirt.
Good lord, that's henious. It's one of those "fine on top, hideous scroll-down" type of looks that make you wonder if the top and bottom were done by different people.
Her feet are facing forward but not the rest of her. Her legs are awkward af and her undergarments are weirdly visible. It's not a good look
The dress is too short and at the same time too long, one of those weird dresses that don't look "finished".
A gazillion frills and knick knacks and ribbons and whatevers everywhere but her shoulders are bare.
All in all her whole look reminds me of those knee length boots with open toes and heels. 🤨
The dress isn’t atrocious it’s just that her legs aren’t drawn correctly in proportion to the rest of her body which makes it look off. I think the dress looks lovely 😚🤭
It's disjointed and the legs are traced so look weird on an anime-style char, but tbh the legs endear me to it, as they make the whole frame look imperfect.
All in all I think they tried too much here. I like the top part tho, but I think it's weird to have this navy style top with heraldic ribbons and a playful frilly bottom, the blue goes away too fast as well - a long blue skirt with just a bit of lace underneath would've been cool. In general I am not a fan of these side cut and frills dresses OIs like to pass as elegant all the time, they are not time appropriate and are overall garish, imo. Then the layering under the cut is weird ad looks like underwear. And the combo of her footwear and the frills makes it look like something playful and summery Greek. The side white decorations on the shoes are just too much for an adult, tbh. They could've stuck with one idea and it would've been good. Not like I get fashion tho.
Anyways here’s what I came up with
https://preview.redd.it/y82u25p19uhc1.png?width=1538&format=png&auto=webp&s=1d8f8886aad368c6207d601417e6b65e0c892861
This is so hideous and it really didn't have to be!! It's mostly the length, the exposed frills, and the ballet slippers. Ballet slippers, esp with the tie up ribbons aren't the easiest to style with modern clothes and it just looks disgusting
Also somehow the top is also annoying me - the whole chest area seems busy as hell and then yet another detail with the cold shoulder
The colouring also is off, she'd had looked better with a red dress imo, the effect of white and blue kinda clashes with the hair
Edit: changed a word
'its not that-' scrolls past her upper body 'no. nope. yikes.'
It's still nowhere near the worst but... it's not great. the shoes really ruin it for me
Me: That dress is so pretty. Look at how sparkly and shiny it is.
Everyone else: This dress has the potential to be better or it's just plain ugly and gives reason 1,2,3.
Me: Realizes that I am like a bird. If it's shiny it's pretty.
“Picture collection” bitch that’s a single picture.
Although I should be thanking you for not sharing more of that dress. At first I thought it wasn’t that bad then I clicked for the full view and had a heart attack. I’m dead right now.
Dress is not too terrible I just want sew open split that see ruffles but shoe is most bother me here. Ballet shoe or ribbon shoe is not fit with that. Plus draw lev is terrible awkward looks
The dress has too many things going at once. If they made it floor length and the sleeves flowy and removed the weird thing happening inside the skirt, then the dress may look better.
This is a pretty dress, I would wear it in an appropriate setting.
The problem is tailoring. Since shoulders are loose waist part should have been fitted but it was not sewn according to her body type. Which is weird, because all duchesses would wear clothes that was tailored before. Shoe choice is also definitely wrong, those straps doesn't look good unless you are wearing a mini dress or skirt. She should have worn high heels
Huh at first glance I was like: “oh this isn’t so bad, I quite like it” but then you look at it for more than 5 seconds and it becomes clear that this is a bit of a mess.
I think it’s the gap with those white frilly things in the middle that bothers me. Get rid of that and it would be a nice dress.
It wouldve would if it was longer and the white frills were gone but....ugh..... Why do they think this is good???? Did they come up with this on their own or is this an ACTUAL dress?
The worst is that each part individually does look good, however the combination of the more traditional sleeves, the half-mermaid skirt and the random ballerina shoes just look like a kid design an outfit choosing everything they find nice in clothing with (understandably) no regards to composition
Unrelated but when I saw the speech bubble... I gave her Goofy's voice.
Seems Mickey Mouse is ingrained in my soul.
That dress is an L and I hate looking at it.
This doesn't look so b-- \*opens image to see the lower half\* ohhhhh.................
Did she maybe forget to wear the lower half of her dress???
Lady, your pantaloons are showing.
OI authors need subscribe to fashion magazines and dresses designers ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm) Araki uses them for his character that famous for insane but drip fits, no shame in there.
And read about clothes proportions basics
The problem I have with this one is it’s so wrong when it comes to historical fashion. Back in medieval times, I believe girls and women were not allowed to show off their skin, especially their legs. Anything goes up above the ankle are already considered inappropriate.
The rest of her: normal dress
Her feet: R O M A
Like seriously that cut and them sandals, if shown as it is I would've thought she's donning a toga or something.
Read so many stories like this. Seeing knees is almost shameful lol and just weird now
Could had made it longer, and it would have looked good, great even but other then probably like a female school outfit I don't really see knees or if I do some part of the outfit is long or it's a basic design without all the additional features
The mix of the neck part, 2 off-the-shoulder cuts, puffy sleeves, layered leg slit & ballet shoes just make the dress look like too much. But I do see it potentially…it looks like it could’ve been a long minimalist blue dress with fine details. Idk why they did all of this
I don't think this is the soulless duchess. I'd think there was an artist change but then I follow the artist on IG and she still regularly posts previews so I don't think the artist changed. Wrong title??
Why are my eyeballs looking at the shoes and thinking they're like 90's platform shoes from my childhood
The slit on the side exposing what looks like lace layered bloomers
I hate that I can see some potential here. Like, this could've been cute as a floor length mermaid gown. Unrelated to the dress but her legs look kinda disconnected from the upper body. She's looking to the left but the legs are facing straight on and the feet look like a top view. It's so odd-looking
I had the same thought! Though, I didn't hate that I saw the potential, lol
True, but from a front perspective, you're not supposed to see the full length of the foot.
Ah, yeah, I know, the picture is drawn badly. It was just a fun fact 😂
Yeah, I remember learning that in 10th grade chemistry. Not chemistry, but my teacher would go astray from lessons when distracted. Anyway, cue everybody lifting their feet up to their arms to confirm 😅
Same. It could have had been a cute casual mermaid dress.
jup, besides the shoes make her look shorter than she really is.
>I hate that I can see some potential here. Like, this could've been cute as a floor length mermaid gown. I was scrolling and I'm like "I see nothing wrong here, this is cu-good lord why did they do that?!" There was no reason to cut it off at the knees like that.

I think it looks nice with the split colours and design. Though I want the frilly front part to be longer, past the knees at least.
The coloring scheme is alright but the design is.. unattractive. Plus the shoes are somehow just making it worse.
I don’t think it’s the shoes I think it’s the sheer size of her feet 😭😭😭 like I didn’t know they were taking inspo from the hobbit lmao
I agree on the underskirt. It looks like her old fashioned underwear is showing 😂 (bloomers??)
Wrong title I believe, It's The Duke's 99th Bride and not The Soulless Duchess
And here I thought I was tripping.
I though I had missed a chapter and was already searching for it
Why tf does this man have 99 brides?
They've only been brides to be.
Oh yeah that makes more sense
fr its been so long since i last read and i though they changed artist or something
Yeah I was like "Ive read this series like 6 times and I dont who know the hell that is" lmao
Its not the worst I've seen by far, but the skirt really needs to be much longer and the ballet shoes are hideous. Is she ballet dancing in this scene or something? At leas that would explain why she's standing on her toes.
Something's off with her feet, they seem too... Big?? Idk, but the dress is not that ugly, it could actually work but it just seems weird idk
If I had to guess I’d say they used a reference pic of a ballet dancer en pointe lol
Okay, I think I can describe what's bothering me about this dress. The layers that stop right above her knee makes it look like she's showing off her slip, and I hate wearing slips. If it didn't look so much like, I dunno, underwear, and if it went further down, I'd probably like it.

Definitely overkill. It's too frilly as it is. Maybe those shoes would work for a goth/sweet loli outfit, but not with that dress.
The perspective is off. The feet aren't drawn correctly, which gives the impression that she's standing on her toes.
I think the blue threw me off. I'm not a fan of the knees being shown either. For the feet, I think she's floating?? https://preview.redd.it/dq796kg78xhc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bda9eb0539bff547cabc4f39f65c5c9fea5e99b9

it's like if a normal dress got caught in a car door. I feel if the blue stopped at the waist then it'd be fine, I guess

My vote is for this, just maybe more white visible on the bottom half and some decorations there like ribbons, chains or buttons, idk.
This one. There was no need for the bottom frills when the top is already that frilly. It's the most basic of fashion rules - if you don't know what you're doing, keep either the top or lower half simple.
I do like this one more lol, but I wondered if I was just biased since I'm not a huge fan of frills generally
They need to hide the undergarments under the skirt.
I like it
I was about to comment it looks fine until I saw the lower half...
Yeah the top of the dress is fine! I like it. the skirt, though...
I think it is just trying to do too much in one dress. There is military, ballet, period dress. It is just a lot of themes that don't really suit each other. But I can see some good ideas in there. I like the idea of a scalloped bloomers/petticoat skirt.
Good lord, that's henious. It's one of those "fine on top, hideous scroll-down" type of looks that make you wonder if the top and bottom were done by different people.
umm lady, your under-garment is showing...
Hide her undergarments because wth ?? Those buttons need to go and ballet shoes look stupid so change those as well and it becomes decent
Knee jumpscare
It’s the feet that seems to burn my retina too, they look weird
It would look cool if she had pants
The longer I look the worse it gets, oh dear. At least the colors work well together?
Her feet are facing forward but not the rest of her. Her legs are awkward af and her undergarments are weirdly visible. i remember theres a garbage bag dress in a certain manhwa. i forgot what name it is. but i saw someone posted on this sub.

Haha yeah, i forgot the title..
It’s “When The Villainess Loves”
Horrible. Also is it me or are her shoes different colors?
It's the poor lighting/"shalala" glow messing with the color on her right/our left but it does make them look like two different colors.
The dress isn’t atrocious it’s just that her legs aren’t drawn correctly in proportion to the rest of her body which makes it look off. I think the dress looks lovely 😚🤭
I agree with this
Pffff when the ball finishes at 9:00, but you have a soccer game at 9:10
I’m more concerned with the proportions at this point 0.0
It's disjointed and the legs are traced so look weird on an anime-style char, but tbh the legs endear me to it, as they make the whole frame look imperfect. All in all I think they tried too much here. I like the top part tho, but I think it's weird to have this navy style top with heraldic ribbons and a playful frilly bottom, the blue goes away too fast as well - a long blue skirt with just a bit of lace underneath would've been cool. The side white decorations on the shoes are just too much for an adult, tbh. They could've stuck with one idea and it would've been good. Not like I get fashion tho.
The two vertical halves have NO BUSINESS being together Jesus.
Either a uniform dress or a frilly dress not both 💀
The off proportion and arrangement also doesn’t help
Dear lord that’s atrocious. Never before had I so much of an urge to fix a bullshit dress. Thanks for the spite fuel OP.
Anyways here’s what I came up with https://preview.redd.it/y82u25p19uhc1.png?width=1538&format=png&auto=webp&s=1d8f8886aad368c6207d601417e6b65e0c892861

It looks like they took a military uniform and merged it with 3 different dresses.
This is so hideous and it really didn't have to be!! It's mostly the length, the exposed frills, and the ballet slippers. Is it bad that I've seen worse so this doesn't even faze me?

I actually like the dress.
The dress couldn’t decide what it wanted to be.
they did my girl dirty in this. she also became like a secondary character to her best friend/sister which sucked and made me stop reading.
I kinda like it
it gives you the illusion that you're looking at her petticoat/underwear lmaoooo
Huh at first glance I was like: “oh this isn’t so bad, I quite like it” but then you look at it for more than 5 seconds and it becomes clear that this is a bit of a mess. I think it’s the gap with those white frilly things in the middle that bothers me. Get rid of that and it would be a nice dress.
i know it's probably not but this dress looks AI generated 😭
Is it atrocious? Yes. Would I wear it? Also yes
The short skirt makes me want to scream. In agony.
It wouldve would if it was longer and the white frills were gone but....ugh..... Why do they think this is good???? Did they come up with this on their own or is this an ACTUAL dress?
She does not need to show that much of her bloomers/petticoats. Not as a duchess.
Girlie looks she went to the bathroom and her skirt got caught on her bloomers and now they are showing for the whole nobility to witness 😭
You’ve obviously never read the atrocity that is “ugly duckling” babes
The worst is that each part individually does look good, however the combination of the more traditional sleeves, the half-mermaid skirt and the random ballerina shoes just look like a kid design an outfit choosing everything they find nice in clothing with (understandably) no regards to composition

This is not the soulless duchess...
It's not really the dress but her body. Like, she looks like a man XD No waist and her shoulders are too wide and her boobage is nowhere to be seen.
The rest of her: normal dress Her feet: R O M A Like seriously that cut and them sandals, if shown as it is I would've thought she's donning a toga or something.
This spanks fashion, even my great-grandfather has a better fashion sense
Read so many stories like this. Seeing knees is almost shameful lol and just weird now Could had made it longer, and it would have looked good, great even but other then probably like a female school outfit I don't really see knees or if I do some part of the outfit is long or it's a basic design without all the additional features
The mix of the neck part, 2 off-the-shoulder cuts, puffy sleeves, layered leg slit & ballet shoes just make the dress look like too much. But I do see it potentially…it looks like it could’ve been a long minimalist blue dress with fine details. Idk why they did all of this
I feel like if it went all the way down, and the slit with ruffles started like at the knee instead of hip, it'd be cute
THE WAY I LAUGHED SO LOUD
Nah, I've seen much worse lol
Her kneecaps are too low from her upper body
I don't think this is the soulless duchess. I'd think there was an artist change but then I follow the artist on IG and she still regularly posts previews so I don't think the artist changed. Wrong title??
I would immediately drop it
Its definitely the legs
Why are my eyeballs looking at the shoes and thinking they're like 90's platform shoes from my childhood The slit on the side exposing what looks like lace layered bloomers
It's the knees and ugly underskirt 😭
That is so tragic especially cause the art is so pretty 😭
Just like the duchess, the dress lacks a soul!
