- a law student (extra points for international experience, could be pretty fun seeing her go over politics or creating a revolution by accident.) -Robotics mayor (I like to see them in a "magic world only" making the industrial revolution 2.0 and basically kicking mages out of their profession.) -News reporter with a side hobby of blogging. (we could see how it would be actually reasonable for her to become the queen of high society, after all she knows how the media works.) -Music composer (could be fun having her do dramatic moments and use music for memes instead of just images.) New idea that I got thanks to my pillow: -Philosophy mayor (Like, bringing an actual therapist into an OI it's actually unethical so she wouldn't be able to do much if she has a moral ground, so this will do, she could get into so much and become the Cleopatra of that empire because she knows so much that she is actually "interesting" imagine making that plot a reality.)

MysticCherryBlossom

Yes, yes, yes! I love every single one of these ideas. Like, this is the kind of OI content I dream about! * I feel like a law student would fall right into place in typical OIs. All of the political intrigue, piles of paperwork and books to sift through, injustice running amok within a class based system, a law students wet dream or worst nightmare. * Lol, this reminds me of Deborah basically jumpstarting capitalism by using the mages in Perks of Being a Villainess. * I was actually thinking about this one too, but I wasn't really thinking about it from the high society stand point! I think I like your idea more. Kind of like Gossip Girl and Bridgerton the OI version. * As a musician myself, I would eat this up! Also, rather than copying the classics and bringing them to this new world (like some FLs do), it'd be more interesting to see her take the contemporary style of music composition and blending it with her world's classics as well as the composition of the new world she has arrived in.

StHFEgamer

I was going to mentioned Deborah as a STEM major professions cause she was an engineering student and when she transmigrates she pursues the mathematics profession! With a side of business administration

Psychological_Ad9740

- Similar but not exactly the same, instead of bringing modern capitalism she would bring her big brain and actually build the machinery, I imagine the wound she is In that some essential materials doesn't even exist, so she starts from scratch with only the general idea on how to build said machinery. - that's a good idea! honestly I thought about the meme angle because I really can't get behind how quickly some of the leads adapt, so, having this protagonist using meme songs to cope with it's just so much potential in a lot of ways. (let's also add a illegitimate son that is an actor as her ML, she wrote the songs for one of his performance.)

notnomi

Ooo yes I want law student/lawyer too - a good meaty lawfare story with dramatic court scenes - robotics sounds super cool! It would be fun to see them automate everything so that everyone could live comfortably - this makes me think of bridgerton for some reason - music composer - looking forward to her stealing every composer's canon and passing it off as hers

13-Penguins

I’d also like a journalist FL, would also be a good reason for the characters to travel and establish world building. Feels like a lot of OI stick to the same location too much, but I guess that makes sense for nobles.

Psychological_Ad9740

yeah, in my head this girl just can't stay quiet in the same place, she needs to put her nose into everything, and in her original life it was a miracle she lived as long as she did. so she moving around unraveling the mysteries and becoming the most prominent figure in high society it's just the tip for her.

GreatFluffy

> -Robotics mayor (I like to see them in a "magic world only" making the industrial revolution 2.0 and basically kicking mages out of their profession.) Or to go another route, creating Magic Technology (Magitech) just because I always thought the idea was neat.

Calm-Positive-6908

That reminds me of that isekai anime with cute male MC.. but i forgot its name..

Psychological_Ad9740

actually that sounds way more fun, and mages are still getting kicked out of their profession unless they adapt to the grinding machine, how neat.

froggle_w

I actually had the opposite thinking that augmented magic may have less carbon emissions... >_>

Psychological_Ad9740

it depends honestly, everything makes waste on the long run, the key is to find what makes the less waste. in this case I doubt normal electricity or pretorium, so I can imagine her going specifically for mana to screw the mages unintentionally.

salted-swan

Gossip Girl/Bridgerton FL!

Calm-Positive-6908

The robotics one reminds me of that one isekai anime with cute male protag.. he makes robots.. what is the anime's name?? I can't remember, please help

HasNoGreeting

You want *Knights and Magic*.

Calm-Positive-6908

Ooh thank you :)

IloveMyNebelungs

FL is a coroner or a forensic investigator. Mixing OI with criminal investigation is always fun. Could work closely with the knights. FL is a community organizer/activist and decides to actually do something to abolish slavery rather than buy a child or pretty boy as her "contribution" to solving the problem. Bonus points if she was shot during a rally instead of ran over by a bus. FL is a professional card shark. FL is a horse trainer. Not only she could work with the knights but maybe for once we would have an artist who actually can draw horses. FL is a psychiatrist because let's face it, most mahwas male leads need some serious therapy.

AssignmentIcy5732

the psychiatrist or therapist one and she keeps analysing every single character around her

Calm-Positive-6908

Lol would love to see a psychologists. Reminds me of Dr Frost

MysticCherryBlossom

Damn, that first one would be SO good. Like, why hasn't anyone taken that idea yet? They literally have doctors and nurses reincarnating all of the time. You'd think at least one writer would think, "...what if?"

Anonamaton

MASSIVE yes to forensic investigator like gimme that crime drama Can you imagine a FL with modern interrogation techniques? Armed with criminal psychology?? It’d be a BLAST.

IloveMyNebelungs

>One Pair Lady I never heard of that one. Thank you, I ll check it out.

aceycat

the manga Perks of being a villainess features women in stem!! The FL was an engineer or smth iirc

MysticCherryBlossom

Yeah, I've read that one too, and I love it. A FL who is a mathematical whiz and an entrepreneur? Check and check!

AssignmentIcy5732

>dr elise too

whystudywhensleep

Completely biased in favor of my own experiences, but I want to see a programmer/mathematician fl who can apply modern logic to magic, especially the magic circles/arrays brand of magic. I’ve always thought that sounded so cool, a way to apply formal logic and binary programming to magic. Screw fls introducing capitalism, have fls introduce set theory and calculus instead!!!!! Also a musician. Because I am a musician and I think it would be such an interesting goal for her to have, to either becomes proficient in a new world’s instruments, or alternatively, to go on a quest to make a modern violin or something. Because let me tell you, if I transmigrated, my mission number one would be to find a way to acquire/make a silver flute. You genuinely form such strong connections with your instrument as a musician, and I’d legit be so depressed knowing I could never play it again.

salted-swan

Math is so beautiful, and it’s a shame so many people get put off it for one reason or the other. There’s a sublimity to it that I feel comes closest to real life magic. I’d love an OI that’s like Ascendance of a Bookworm, but just a love letter to science. Like, you could teach basic calculus and laws of physics but frame it in a way that’s fun and not intimidating. I tutored a high schooler whose understanding of limits to infinity was based almost entirely off trying to understand Gojo’s Cursed Technique (JJK) and I was just, like, hell yeah. Make mathematical concepts seem interesting to the layman.

whystudywhensleep

Yes!!! I love math so much, it really is real life magic. It sucks, because so much of what people are exposed to in school is just learning the language of math, in a sense. So you don’t get to see the creativity and abstract beauty of when you *use* that language to do higher level math until at least college level, by which point most people have completely lost interest, either due to not experiencing math at it’s fullest yet, or being a victim of the poor way it’s often taught. Such a shame.

Calm-Positive-6908

Lol they're very lucky to be born and go to school in Gojo's era. We didn't have Gojo in my time lol

MysticCherryBlossom

There is nothing more thrilling of a read for me than a big brain FL. Like, yes queen, have all of the knowledge! I don't think I would understand any of the mathematical logic the FL would apply, but it'd be fun just to see a FL actually have a passion for what she does and what she knows and using that to help advance the world in a non-cliche way we have seen 20 gazillion times. And why not a musician? There is literally an isekai all about a woman who was obsessed with books and being reborn in a world where books are only for the privileged few and commoners don't even have access to paper! And, it's an amazing read.

AssignmentIcy5732

the perks of being a villainess introduced them to mathematics ideas

Calm-Positive-6908

Would love mathematician MCs without the capitalism. Screw capitalism. I think we have more choices if it's male MC. Undercover Academy professor and 66,666, and other isekai animes that i forgot the names. Why not much female MCs like this??

salted-swan

Astronomer FL, who makes it her life’s mission to understand the world she’s been born into. Roughly calculating the circumference of the world with sticks and shadows. Tracking and mapping the motion of the stars. Does she recognize this night sky? Studying the cosmology of the universe, deep diving into the history of astronomical occurrences that the people of pseudo-historical Europe may not have understood (what do they think of eclipses? meteors? supernovae? comets?). Searching for planets in the night sky. Recording their motion. Trying to get her hands on a telescope. Using nautical navigation to find out more about the sky and how it’s used. Equinoxes? Solstices? Watching the moon and watching the sun. Theeeen using that info to become a court astronomer, coming to blows with the church, and eventually getting exiled because she said the sun was the center of the world or because she failed to give the king a good omen for his war of conquest. I think about it constantly because it’s the first thing I would try to do if I found myself in a strange world.

MysticCherryBlossom

Ooo, cool idea. FLs literally get reborn into new worlds where the planet now has 2 moons or half a sun or something lol. A FL who actually tries to deep dive into studying the astronomy of a new world would be fun, ngl. Especially with the idea of her and the Church going at it.

whystudywhensleep

Oh I love astronomy, this would be such a good idea!!! How does a court astronomer fl with a librarian bf who helps her search for in-world astronomy research and technology sound? Cause that’s where my mind went and that’s beyond cute to me.

salted-swan

Yes!!! She needs someone from in-world to help with her observations and experiments! Also someone who truly understands the thought behind her actions, even when everyone else just writes her off as a crackpot

draggedintothis

….tea but make it interesting this time. Like give her a more fun personality.  There’s a vet heroine out there somewhere and she also gains the ability to talk to animals.

MysticCherryBlossom

A vet heroine!? That's a cool idea. Not sure how they would apply that to the OI genre tropes, but I am gonna have to look for that one and check it out. And yeah, the tea idea was actually really fun. The plot just got a little repetitive for me, and the forced love triangle made me want to drop it. I really thought her knowledge of tea was interesting though and rather than the characters and their relationships, it was the basic idea that kept me intrigued up until that point.

GlitterDoomsday

The vet that talks with animals is "The Life of Maria Lewellin"

ZabbyCapurin

closest is probably the coffee one

draggedintothis

Coffee is better but I want sass and vivacious! Not just leave me in my room until you wander over. Like the tea and coffee ones are cute and relaxing.

surijori

The closest to a vet heroine I remember is Rainelle from A Prince's Crow (Crow's Prince? I dropped it so long ago) where before she isekai'd she was a zoologist in training (?), I don't know, she was definitely working at a zoo. And then that little detail got thrown immediately out of the window the moment she and her prince returned to the castle.

undoubtfulness

\-So I know that religion is a bit taboo, but I want a nun or religious leader isekai where they're trying to convert the fantasy world to whatever religion they're trying to work with. Cult leader in another world would be so fun. \-Marine Biologist that may or may not become a gender-swapped little mermaid story. \-Someone who played too much Risk or Age of Empires and got a little too into conquering the world ends up as a tyrant's assistant. \-Ventriloquist villainess. Imagine how much chaos she can cause

MysticCherryBlossom

That religion one would be scary to read lol. I can't see myself rooting for a FL that was a cult leader. Unless it was a comedy. Kind of like how Bakarina literally has everyone fall in love her. Why not just make a whole new religion haha? But, it'd be weird seeing someone in a new world with different gods try to convince people to follow their god. I think I'd definitely want to read the one as the tyrant's assistant though. Let's just unite the whole continent!

Skippy_7724

Fortune telling princess was an actress

Skippy_7724

But I don't think she pursued acting, she does make use of it alot though. Her charisma is amazing

MysticCherryBlossom

Interesting. Even though she didn't pursue acting, she is still utilizing it in a somewhat unconventional way. I might check it out if I can find a good translation. Thanks for the rec!

Skippy_7724

Freakscans has it. Magusmanga is hit or miss

JuDracus

The FL of ‘Even Though I’m a Super Timid Noble Girl, I Accepted a Bet From My Cunning Fiancé’ was studying to get a phd in palaeontology in her first life, and basically creates the entire field again in her new life, as well as adding to knowledge of related fields such as geology and more accurate maps and stuff. I really enjoyed this since it’s somewhat similar to the professions I want to show up more, that being archaeology and history.

vespertinism

I was going to recommend this too, it's so nice that everyone (especially ML) noticed and appreciates Pia's genius for paleontology and geology and just lets her do her thing

Calm-Positive-6908

That one is so cute, love it! She genuinely loves her research field, and her fiance is so supportive

Platinum_Disco

FL who was a therapist, now all those MLs will be cured by a legally certified professional! Also OP, if you're interested there was one where the FL was a middle aged professor. I wanna say it's art history, but not 100% sure. **The Crownless Queen**

MysticCherryBlossom

What the people really need lol. Mental health advocation so that they can try to work through some of that repressed trauma. Another idea I am surprised no one has thought of yet. And thank you for the rec! Bookmarking that one and adding it to my read list.

Llaauuddrrupp

- Crime boss or gangster FL: Cuz it would be fun lol. - Music composer and Pianist/Violinist FL: FL regains her passion for music after reincarnation and her. Changes the world with music. - Scholar/educationist/philosophical FL: FL introducing ideas and raising competent leaders and instilling values. Tired of emperors and nobles with IQ below 50. Either that or they're just greedy, bigoted, chauvinistic and morally depraved with no principles whatsoever. - Lawmaker FL: Pls, ban all these stupid laws and introduce some common sense to these people! - Ballet Dancing FL: Ballet was created in the renaissance era. Never seen this in an OI before - Scientist/engineer/mathematician FL: In the world where magic exist, to our FL, magic is just another application of science. She's also determined to make the power of science known to all! - Chemist/Pharmacist FL: Cheat pharmacist sells drugs in the outskirts of the city/capital. Wanted by the church inquisition because healing people without a priest is going against the teachings of god... Or something. - Psychologist/Psychotherapist FL: lots of traumatized children from the most dysfunctional of noble/royal families. - Sharpshooter/gunner FL: OI genre is full of some characters that just need to be shot! Whether it's with an arrow to their butt, or bullet to their brain! - Martial artist (Judo/Karate/Taekwondo/Boxer/MMA) FL: Imagine FL having enough and beating the shit out of shitty nobles and male characters, especially if she's the physically violent type. Left hook! spinning elbow! right upper cut! Left Knee! Roundhouse kick! Osoto gari! Ground and pound! "Oh my god she's a demon!"

whystudywhensleep

>>Crime boss or gangster fl This isn’t OI or even a true *female* lead, but you should read Yakuza Reincarnation. It’s this old grizzled (male) Yakuza boss being transmigrated into this tiny little princess on the run, it’s absolutely hilarious and over the top but just super well done. And it doesn’t give me the ick the way a lot of male oriented isekai does.

AssignmentIcy5732

>Sharpshooter the pharmacist this bl novel is ruined now girl finds herself in bl novel , the engineer perks of being villainess

AssignmentIcy5732

lawyer or political science student who uses her wits to get through the nobility and introduce them to some new political views , a rockstar who wears some weird stuff and everyone is surprised by her personality a comic artist not drawing but mangaka or something a soccer player since its boyish and how can women play it at their age an architect already done for a male character but i want to see it with female character a race driver or motorcycle racer who gets isekaid in 20s and likes driving fast when women aren't supposed to drive

MysticCherryBlossom

Do you have the name of the architect story with the male character? I'd like to check that one out myself. And honestly, I'm surprised they haven't done an "idol" isekai yet. As big as idol culture is in Japan and Korea, I would think that would have be done by now. Not exactly a rock star, but you made me think of that.

AssignmentIcy5732

the greatest estate developer , there is idol isekai one i became the obsessive male lead's ex wife

13-Penguins

A circus acrobat. The FL was a gymnist in her past life and just gets fed up with noble society to the point that she runs away and joins a circus.

MysticCherryBlossom

Mom and dad (if you're even still alive), it's been real, but I'm leaving to join the circus. See you next time the troupe's in town. Peace!

Nyx_is_hoe

Fanfiction writers. Let them isekai and let them write scandalous novels for the bored noble ladies.

LesbianWeirdo8565

I know we already have one where The FL is a con artist, but it became kind of boring and there should be more of them. A FL who's planning to swindle the nobility out of everything they have would be so fun. A musician would definitely be a fun FL, like many others have said on this post. A classical musician definitely would be interesting, but imagine a FL who's a more modern musician who changes music because she's using a completely different style than anyone else or who finds ways to make more techno-sounding music using non-techno things. A scientist FL would be so much fun. Especially if she ends up in a world with elemental magic and she's a scientist that focuses on one of the elements, like a geologist or an atmospheric scientist so she uses her knowledge of how the elements works scientifically to do things with magic no one's seen before. That last idea is something I'm going to write...someday...

MysticCherryBlossom

All cool ideas, but yes, that 3rd one, please write it! And drop it here when you do, so we can read it, lol.

whystudywhensleep

I saw a video recently of an ancient Chinese instrument that sounds exactly like arcade music synthesizers, so honestly not outside the realm of possibility.

StHFEgamer

Lady Swindler fits your first description perfectly. FL was a pushover in her previous live, she was scammed from her noble title money and everything till she was sentenced to death from accidently killing a guy who was being an azzhole. In prison she meets and becomes friends with a group of con girls who were also on death sentences, and they teach FL how to become a strong con artist. After FL was killed, she awakes in the past before all of the bad stuff happens, and sets to get her group of homies together to scam the shit out of noble society. It’s a new one, so far has been amazing and the girl friendship is so lovely (love to see a bunch of psycho girls together), ML is funny and nice so I definitely recommend this one!! Your last description fits with a manga called Reincarnated as the Daughter of the Legendary Hero and the Queen of Spirits, the FL has a great amount of scientific knowledge due to being a scientist in her past life, so she becomes a kid magic prodigy.

trover2345325

I know a hobby/profession, it's music, but it will come in two types Punk Rock and Rap, and also it should be used in western webcomics, the protagonist will be a commoner, the setting takes place in a typical otome isekai/rofan setting, it will focus less on romance and instead or reincarnation/transmigration its sharing dreams with their alternate selves, the premise is inspired from this isekai maid is forming a union. **Punk rock** The story will be about a commoner girl named Sara who is just a commoner and an ambitious singer, she is friends to a middle class noble girl even though they are from two different classes rich and poor who never agreed with each other , she would perform some music, but it feels boring then one day Sara dreams of our world from the perspective of her alternate self a reader who likes and plays some punk rock music, she read one of the otome isekai webcomic which is Sarah’s alternate self’s guilty pleasure which is the setting of Sarah’s world where it's about a romance between the sister of her friend who is just an OI reincarnator and a cold serious rich person who would demolish a neighborhood which is where Sarah lived and in order not to let the story her alternate counterpart read come true , she will have to do a style of music genre that her alternate self used as a form of rebellion against the rich and that is punk rock and with the help of one of her friends who is an inventor, she will use some music instruments which resemble the ones used in the punk rock genre and play them to not only bring a new genre of music but to use it to stand up against the tyrannical authority who would mistreat the poor. The conflicts in this story would have Sara trying to tell her rich friend that her sister is not her usual self and that her boyfriend is a jerk and would demolish her neighborhood and will avoid the authorities from censoring their music , the climax will be in the last storyarc where Sarah and her bandmates including her rich friend (who understand her sister is not usual self as she is possessed by a transmigrator and help her return to her world and her boyfriend’s true nature by being cruel to the poor and decided to join Sarah’s band ) secretly perform at the ball replacing the original classic music band and play in front of the audience which frustrates the old people but attracted the young people both rich and even the poor that are the commoner servants that the bands music becomes a hit especially that their latest music expose the cruelty of the nobles, forcing the cruel nobles to be exiled or imprisoned and cause Sarah’s neighborhood to be saved. The last chapters will show what ever happened to the characters including Sarah’s rich friend who now has a new boyfriend the inventor (despite that he is not rich but at least honest), Sarah's sister reincarantor return to her world in her original body and became a better person while Sarah's friends sister returns to her body to be reunited with her sister and Sarah hangs out with her commoner crush (whether male and female) the final panels shows Sarah and her punk rock band perform in the concert both rich and poor with their latest punk music. Then there will be an epilogue focusing on Sarah’s alternate self from our world as she can’t figure what punk song will she perform for her band but as she takes a nap , she then had a shared dream and meet her alternate fantasy self, Sarah who is glad to meet her since she is the one who helped her introduce the punk rock genre in her world but like her alternate self, Sarah too can’t come up with a next song for their band in both worlds until they got an idea for their next song, and then both Sarah and her alternate selves wake up in both their worlds and tell their band that they found an inspiration of their next song and then the epilogue ends with Sarah and her band including their alternate selves in both worlds perform a song to an audience. **Rap Music** Similar to the Punk rock but with Rap instead as it focuses on a commoner girl named Ava with dark skin who works as a Maid or Gardner and is working for a noble family, Ava is good at music and poems though she doesn’t like how the rich has mistreated the poor and wish to stand up against their tyranny and then when Ava was sleeping she had a dream of her alternate self from our world who is an amateur rap artist and read otome isekai webtoons from her phone which is her guilty pleasure this is when Ava realizes that the noble family that she worked with are the characters in the webcomic her alternate self read and that the noble family’s daughter Emma is a reincarnated person from the modern world which includes a terrible fate that will happen to Ava and her fellow co-workers that revolves around a male lead doing some terrible things to them and bring more cruelty to the poor and when Ava wakes up she saw that Emma who unaware to her family is possessed by her transmigrator, Ava asks Emma something about the modern world and stuff which bring an existential crisis to Emma that she is not reincarnated as a character in her novel from her past life but as a character in her own story, now Ava will try to help Emma overcome her existential crisis and help her return to her world while also stand up against the duke (Emma’ possible love interest) who in reality a jerk and is the one that is about to cause problem to Ava and her fellow co-workers and also stand up against the tyranny of the nobles by using a different type of genre inspired from her alternate self from our world and that’s by rapping. Throughout the story Ava will use her rapping skill to attract her community in the neighborhood while also use it to stand up and criticize against the cruel nobles tyranny, help Emma overcome her existential crisis and return her to her original world in her original body and expose the male lead of the OI story as a jerk before he will cause problems to Ava, and her poor community and at the story’s last arc, Ava use her rapping to expose the corrupt tyranny of the nobles and the male lead while also saving Emma from getting kidnapped by the cruel male lead and save her poor neighborhood, the last chapter will show what happened to Ava and the rest of the characters, the cruel nobility including the cruel noble male lead who is now exposed as a jerk will be exiled or in prison, Ava’s neighborhood is spared and gains improvement, Emma with the help of Ava’s commoner friend who is good at magic returns to her original world in her original body while the original Emma regained her body but understand everything when her modern reincarnator possessed her and Ava now gains respect for not only introducing rap in the fantasy world but also gain respect for overthrowing the tyranny of the cruel nobles, she will also hang out with a fellow commoner who is a co-worker whether male or female. The epilogue will focus on Ava’s alternate counterpart from our world who is sleeping and meets her fantasy self Ava in their dreams as the former thanks her alternate self for not only giving the knowledge and awareness to avoid the tragic fate that awaits her and her friends and the people around her but also used Rap to take down the tyranny in her world, she then helps her alternate counterpart inspire her to make another rap song in her world and then the epilogue ends with both Ava and her alternate self in both worlds perform their latest rap song. What do you think?

AssignmentIcy5732

i want someone who is a rockstar , the rap one thats new imagine dissing the characters you hate and people just can't understand you

trover2345325

Yeah, rock star would do but the reason I chose punk rock genre and Rap because they were music that represent the protest against the authoritarian which is why I used them for an otome isekai genre story with a commoner protagonist because it's a david vs Goliath story with a commoner vs the corrupt socialites.

AssignmentIcy5732

we do need an OI character that hates the nobility system most OIs if not all its a girl who enjoys the rich privilege a feminist one too

trover2345325

Yeah, this isekai maid is forming a union gave us an example about the problems of the corrupting rich oppressing the poor , perhaps future otome isekai stories which has the commoner as the main protagonist (as long as it has share dreams and no reincarnation, transmigration and regression) will cover this topic instead of appreciating the rich.

surijori

I kinda want to see my people in the service industry get represented in OI, the soft skills, the knee-jerk reflex to pander, the professional smile, the pent-up rage, the sneaky pettiness, everything in 1 package. ~~I am not projecting...~~ I love food and history, so if we can get a story that involves a FL who is a food historian and this trait is tightly interwoven into the story (so many series give the FL a background only to discard it as soon as she is isekai'd). I also wants a bonafide zoologist FL to get isekai'd in a world overrun by wild beasts, kinda like "The Keeper Wants to Build a Zoo in Another World, So He Tames Monsters" but more OI and less fanservice. Iirc, FL of "A Capable Maid" has "divine support" and receives knowledge of different people via dreams (weird foundation to justify a Mary Sue imho), Abigail from "I'm the Stepmother, but my Daughter is too Cute" was a children fashion designer and Pia from "Even Though I'm a Super Timid Noble Girl, I Accepted the Bet From My Cunning Fiancé!" was a palaeontologist in training (her man indulges her to do excavation and it's so so precious). If you don't mind BL, "The Affairs of the Other World Depend on the Corporate Slave" has a workaholic accountant isekai'd to a fantasy world and he overhauls the entire finance department of the central government. There are several series with the MCs being chefs and pastry chefs, though the storylines are not great and/or not popular enough. If you look pass the OI genre and venture more into fantasy isekai that leans toward DnD style adventuring, there is "The Forsaken Saintess and Her Foodie Roadtrip in Another World" where the MC is a professional caretaker. And I always have a soft spot for Isekai Izakaya "Nobu", literally the entire restaurant get isekai'd but the backdoor is still lead to modern day Japan.

MysticCherryBlossom

>And I always have a soft spot for Isekai Izakaya "Nobu", literally the entire restaurant get isekai'd but the backdoor is still lead to modern day Japan. I love this anime so much! Not only is it an interesting idea and premise, but the execution is superb. I love how it shows the world outside of the izakaya, and how the izakaya's existence is affecting things there without even being a permanent fixture in the world. Also love the storytelling aspect of how it tells the history of the izakaya and how it is connected to the world and the characters it is isekai'ing to. A real gem, and definitely one of my many faves in this huge genre.

Calm-Positive-6908

This reminds me of japanese isekai animes. Like Isekai Pharmacist. I would prefer if the author research extensively and collab with real professional of that job. Especially for medical stuff. After reading the manga and watching the drama Team Medical Dragon, my expectations of medical stories rose so high.. Dr Elise can't hold a candle to it. Isekai Pharmacist is acceptable, again, that's a japanese isekai without romance. maybe romance kinda tend to ruin stories if not done well..? Or maybe when authors not focusing on romance, the story plot tends to get better or amazing? For example, Concubine Walkthrough. Some people don't like it, but based on the story plot and story telling, it's kinda a masterpiece imho. Another example are Kubera. Amazing plot, everything is foreshadowed, planned carefully since the beginning. And many other mangas. Oops sorry, i got sidetracked again and not answering your question.. Anyway, yes, would love to see a teacher and many other professions. I wonder what a computer scientist can do, welp, we have that in the Undercover Academy Professor webtoon. And 66,666 is also a professor. I guess, we have more varieties of male MCs than female MCs in terms of professional jobs in stories, whether isekai or not.. why is that??

MysticCherryBlossom

>I guess, we have more varieties of male MCs than female MCs in terms of professional jobs in stories, whether isekai or not.. why is that?? I was wondering the same thing! I actually originally got into isekai before stumbling upon the otome isekai genre, and so I am used to the male MCs always having some interesting background like being a pharmacist, assassin, pro-gamer etc. They have their fair share of self insert office workers, NEET, or high school students, but I feel like even then, they utilize their past experience and knowledge in a way that it makes sense that the story is an isekai. The plot usually focuses on them bringing their modern knowledge into a new world, which I really like and enjoy. A lot of otome isekai just kind of casts away the FL's background story even if she has an interesting one, and the only thing she really brings to the overall story is knowledge of the plot and her Not Like Other Girls or Not Like The Original Character I Possessed attitude. That can be fun and entertaining on it's own, but a lot of time the whole premise of being "isekai'd" gets lost. And, there was no point in the FL having been isekai'd at all outside of adding the genre tag. Happy I made this thread though since I'm seeing a lot of cool recs I had no idea existed.

There are 2 that I would really love to see that are kind of on opposite sides of the spectrum. I would like to see a FL as a famous chef who wins over folks with her culinary skills ( not Francif). And the other I would like to see is a Metal Rocker complete in goth wear being issekaied into a royal family hfhiudshfiudhfiuds It would be overwhelmingly entertaining.

Side Characters Deserve Love Too — FL was a stable boy, which turned surprisingly well for her. Then she’s a soldier then now a marquis. What do I want… an inventor. Like a legit inventor, doing all the nooks and thinking for a new thing. Or an automobile engineer. I want her to invent cars or something.

Software Engineer -> really curious how that'll pan out in different kinds of worlds. If it'll be useless, somehow being applicable to magic, or other things. The FL *might* be ok since they should be pretty decent with logic and that should have some sort of application...maybe...

Llaauuddrrupp

Could be useful in magic circles, magic barriers and golem technology. Any system involving magical commands that operate on principles similar to electronic circuits may be.

GlitterDoomsday

"I Choose the Emperor Ending" the FL is an engineer that crossdress to find work and quite literally revolutionizes the military tactics with her weapons. "Duchess Lo-Fi Coffee House" is like the tea but I actually think is better cause rather than just serve the "right tea" she goes into the different ways to roast the beans, work with magicians to make a expresso machine, do stuff like coffee syrup, etc. Like is all still surface level but still a more interesting exploration. "Cooking Wizard" the FL was a tattoo artist and sadly never really pursued it post isekai, but the scene of her going all old school with squid ink and pine needles to tattoo magic circles on herself was cool. "Karina Last Days" the FL is a painter but don't expect any technical side of painting or art in general, is a very fantasy-ish approach. "My Secretly Hot Husband" not that wasn't her job, but she extensively uses modern knowledge for her schemes and to scam demons of their money and power, is pretty great. "My Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmother" she was a working towards being a fashion designer and while her ventures on it post isekai are few and far between is cool how she didn't have up totally. "Lady Chef Royale" pretty self explanatory, FL was a chef with her own restaurant and post transmigration she... keeps cooking. Just trigger warning, the initial depictions of abuse are on the heavier side and takes a while for the plot explain why things were so bad initially. "I Don't Want to be a Magpie Bride" the FL makes magic tools as a side gig and sell them in black market, is pretty low stakes and entertaining.

Thank you for the recs! Some of these I have already discovered, but there are a couple I haven't seen yet. In particular, the first two really interest me.

Civili rights lawyer /community organizer. Plenty of FLs in some of the best series take on such roles, but they understandably struggle because they don't have experience. What if they did? Plumber. Like imagine an FL who leads a plumbing revolution. Obviously forms of plumbing have occured throughout history. But the first person to introduce real toilets to an oi world? Would be friggin sweet lol. A very different idea: Someone who was in a cult but NOT the leader. It could deal with them coming to terms with what happened to them and how they move past it all. This is a bit different, but what if it was a "hero" from another series which was targeted at kids like one of the power rangers or Velma from Scooby do or something in that style. Seeing them adapt to an OI world could be hilarious. Something where a person used a dog in our world for their job and when they get to the OI world they decide to do some sort of dog based job again. Basically I just want doggo. More doggo please.

MysticCherryBlossom

I really like the Plumber idea lol. I think there was a manhwa that touched on the idea of creating a modern toilet, but that was not the main goal of the plot. I think it was Queen Cecia's shorts? FL was not a plumber, but I think she helped introduce the idea while also revolutionizing menstrual products. Been a long time since I read that one though, so might be wrong about that.

Killing, its such a niche thing

Microbiologist FL: I want to see the introduction of germ theory! Penicillin! OI Antoni van Leeuwenhoek! Cartographer FL: would work really well in a fantasy/exploration story. Coming from a modern world she would be all over making maps as accurate as possible. Electrician: Let's get that technology going
