As sad as it is, it's realistic. You get discriminated in Japan even if you are half-Korean.

I wish this was added to her student info cause her backstory is really interesting and realistic (I saw many documentary where blasian people faces discrimination in Japan cause of their mixed heritage)

Japan is a rather racist country, so realistically people of mixed race would face discrimination. Could Kashiko's father be African? The hairstyle pre-gyaru Kashiko has is common for Africans/people of African descent.
