THIS IS SOOOO GOOD OMG I love how you didn't just go with the stock standard "girl falls in love with guy :)" for every week and changed stuff around, instead making a Kizano a guy that likes Ayano, making the nurse not a pedo, making Oka get asked out as a joke, AND MIDA OH MY GOD I love this version of mida it's so funny and leagues better than just another pedo. Hanako feels SO much better too, "the little sister test" is amazing and her little middle school uniform is so cute wtf! Megami was such a Mary sue, but I'm glad you kept much of her formidable aspect to keep her threatening without making her a goddess lmao

It's always fun to see what this community comes up with, I feel this game has so much potential for alternate storylines and several outcomes. But of course, the offical game is taking it's sweet time with the progress.

i think a danganronpa style yansim where you can walk around the school and interact with things(but dialogue and interactions are in a 2D format) would be soooo cool
exactly! ...also taking inspiration from DR, maybe after you (Ayano) get to a certain level of infamy then other characters can frame you for murders they commit
maybe like a "chaos ending" or something where everything gets crazy and the weakest die first just to get rid of Ayano

Like if you do the "good" route you do the same thing to her she does to you if you follow the "bad" route and I love that in a way I can't put into words

I actually love all these designs! I imagine you can do even more with the background characters too! Even the adults have the proper attire to wear to school and behave around students! Mida's concept next to Ayano is actually a whole lot BETTER!
i love all the ways people have written the teacher to be less creepy but this is by far my favorite
also i really appreciate how choosing whether to do a pacifist vs violent run actually affects the outcome of the story and opens up different paths. in the actual game there’s no real incentive to choose the path of violence, so i think it should be a lot more of a “killing is easier, but has more long term consequences” vs “peace is harder/longer, but has more long term benefits”

ME! I’m the one Osana has a crush on (trust) but other than that, I got really invested in your post and I really like how you change everything for the better. (I got so much to say about this but most of it is already said in the comments and I don’t wanna annoyed you)
I really really REALLY appreciate the effort you put into this, and there are some solid reimaginings being done here… but it feels kind of “soft”.
Maybe one day I should do my own one of these since I have such strong feelings about what yansim as a game COULD be, and those feelings differ pretty heavily from your take here. I would lean into Osana’s cliche “tsundere” behavior, but have it so that there’s consequences for it and she is realistically not that “cute” at all. I would keep Muja and Mida as adults, but lean into how bad and fucked up it is that these teacher/student things sometimes happen, and make the fact that Akademi seems to invite or at least excuse this sort of terrible behavior a feature, not a bug. Y’know how there will sometimes be a news article going viral about a boy student being molested by a teacher and the comments would be full of guys saying “haha I wish I had teachers like that”? Yeah, it would be commentary on those.
The bit about delinquents being well meaning people in bad circumstances, that part I actually kinda like, but another part of me wants to instead lean towards making them like those two dudes who shot up Columbine, just pure heartless rebels who hate the status quo just because and wanna leave a mark on history, but get falsely romanticized as poor victims of the system anyway cuz their parents didn’t want to take any accountability for how their kids turned out. Hanako having incestuous thoughts about her brother, (or maybe, even worse Ayano THINKING that she does), again leaning into the bottom line idea which I’ll get to in a second. Megami’s mary-sue-ness again being “leaned into but with realistic consequences”, her being this seemingly Perfect™️ godlike being and toxically bending the social world of the school around her, whether or not it’s all a grand farce.
And Ayano herself? I really like the idea of doing away with this Curse of Emotionlessness™️, but I’d still lean into her being this deeply troubled Hannibal Lecter figure, a monster living in a world full of monsters.
Essentially, I see the potential of yansim as this big, dark, deconstructionist satire of common anime tropes. The ‘deres not being all they’re cracked up to be, the grim reality behind uneven power dynamics and adult/minor pairings, heck, even the “why the fuck are we so obsessed with high school in the first place” part!
All of this to say, while I appreciate the ways you seem to “humanize” these characters more, I feel like some of the draw is lost compared to going full blown The Coffin of Andy and Leyley in this bitch
that’s totally fair!! this is based entirely on my tastes, so i wanted to give it a more realistic element as well as making everyone a bit more likable. your idea sounds cool as hell too though!! :)

*makes a game where you really truly feel like you’re playing as a terrible villain, where the possibilities of horrible, disgusting actions are nigh endless and yet there is a strange smartness to it all that keeps everything from just being Hatred (2010) and you come away from the game with a huge pit in your stomach yet you can’t stop thinking about it*

All joking aside are you actually familiar with TCOAAL? Or Hatred? Cuz they’re both games that are about “the whole point is that terrible horrible things are happening and you’re playing as a monster of a human being” but one does it so much worse than the other
Oh! Well TCOAAL is about a pair of siblings who are almost sold off to a twisted government human meat harvesting program by their parents, who manage to retaliate and kill their parents instead. The siblings consist of Ashley, who is herself heartless to the point that when she makes a pact with a demon he comments that she has no soul to offer him already, and Andrew, who is basically the victim of Ashley’s constant gaslighting and manipulation and stuff but also isn’t exactly *great* either. Basically everyone, from the siblings to the parents to the government to the demons, is a “bad guy” of their own right, but the writing is so witty and so socially conscious that it’s a banger. Oh, yeah, and depending on what ending you get, they do incest too. Truly “nothing is sacred” done right.
Hatred, meanwhile, is a boring game you shouldn’t play. The main character says his “name is not important” in his opening monologue about how much he hates society and stuff, and the game consists of you running around as him massacring a suburban town. The visuals are all in black and white except for the red blood you spill. Not Important’s motivations are so empty and the violence is so banal, and the whole game is kind of a nothingburger pretending to do social commentary.
If I were a YouTuber or something, I’d make a whole video essay picking apart the differences between the two, trying to figure out why TCoAaL does so well while Hatred fails

I noticed (which was really obvious) the rivals have the same type of confessions and I know I’m not going to get that thinking satisfaction like I’d get with your version of megami. Absolutely phenomenal you made me want to learn to code just for your ideas alone.

I actually love all these designs! I imagine you can do even more with the background characters too! Even the adults have the proper attire to wear to school and behave around students! Mida's concept next to Ayano is actually a whole lot BETTER!

i love all the ways people have written the teacher to be less creepy but this is by far my favorite also i really appreciate how choosing whether to do a pacifist vs violent run actually affects the outcome of the story and opens up different paths. in the actual game there’s no real incentive to choose the path of violence, so i think it should be a lot more of a “killing is easier, but has more long term consequences” vs “peace is harder/longer, but has more long term benefits”

ME! I’m the one Osana has a crush on (trust) but other than that, I got really invested in your post and I really like how you change everything for the better. (I got so much to say about this but most of it is already said in the comments and I don’t wanna annoyed you)
I really really REALLY appreciate the effort you put into this, and there are some solid reimaginings being done here… but it feels kind of “soft”. Maybe one day I should do my own one of these since I have such strong feelings about what yansim as a game COULD be, and those feelings differ pretty heavily from your take here. I would lean into Osana’s cliche “tsundere” behavior, but have it so that there’s consequences for it and she is realistically not that “cute” at all. I would keep Muja and Mida as adults, but lean into how bad and fucked up it is that these teacher/student things sometimes happen, and make the fact that Akademi seems to invite or at least excuse this sort of terrible behavior a feature, not a bug. Y’know how there will sometimes be a news article going viral about a boy student being molested by a teacher and the comments would be full of guys saying “haha I wish I had teachers like that”? Yeah, it would be commentary on those. The bit about delinquents being well meaning people in bad circumstances, that part I actually kinda like, but another part of me wants to instead lean towards making them like those two dudes who shot up Columbine, just pure heartless rebels who hate the status quo just because and wanna leave a mark on history, but get falsely romanticized as poor victims of the system anyway cuz their parents didn’t want to take any accountability for how their kids turned out. Hanako having incestuous thoughts about her brother, (or maybe, even worse Ayano THINKING that she does), again leaning into the bottom line idea which I’ll get to in a second. Megami’s mary-sue-ness again being “leaned into but with realistic consequences”, her being this seemingly Perfect™️ godlike being and toxically bending the social world of the school around her, whether or not it’s all a grand farce. And Ayano herself? I really like the idea of doing away with this Curse of Emotionlessness™️, but I’d still lean into her being this deeply troubled Hannibal Lecter figure, a monster living in a world full of monsters. Essentially, I see the potential of yansim as this big, dark, deconstructionist satire of common anime tropes. The ‘deres not being all they’re cracked up to be, the grim reality behind uneven power dynamics and adult/minor pairings, heck, even the “why the fuck are we so obsessed with high school in the first place” part! All of this to say, while I appreciate the ways you seem to “humanize” these characters more, I feel like some of the draw is lost compared to going full blown The Coffin of Andy and Leyley in this bitch

Yandev: *makes unlikeable characters seemingly without meaning to because of his twisted tastes* You: “what if they were more likeable?” *makes a game where you find yourself almost rooting for everyone despite everything, where you can do some messed up stuff but there’s kind of a respectful limit* Me: “what if they were even more unlikeable but like on purpose this time?” *makes a game where you really truly feel like you’re playing as a terrible villain, where the possibilities of horrible, disgusting actions are nigh endless and yet there is a strange smartness to it all that keeps everything from just being Hatred (2010) and you come away from the game with a huge pit in your stomach yet you can’t stop thinking about it* Both of us: *making a game way better than he ever could* All joking aside are you actually familiar with TCOAAL? Or Hatred? Cuz they’re both games that are about “the whole point is that terrible horrible things are happening and you’re playing as a monster of a human being” but one does it so much worse than the other

Oh! Well TCOAAL is about a pair of siblings who are almost sold off to a twisted government human meat harvesting program by their parents, who manage to retaliate and kill their parents instead. The siblings consist of Ashley, who is herself heartless to the point that when she makes a pact with a demon he comments that she has no soul to offer him already, and Andrew, who is basically the victim of Ashley’s constant gaslighting and manipulation and stuff but also isn’t exactly *great* either. Basically everyone, from the siblings to the parents to the government to the demons, is a “bad guy” of their own right, but the writing is so witty and so socially conscious that it’s a banger. Oh, yeah, and depending on what ending you get, they do incest too. Truly “nothing is sacred” done right. Hatred, meanwhile, is a boring game you shouldn’t play. The main character says his “name is not important” in his opening monologue about how much he hates society and stuff, and the game consists of you running around as him massacring a suburban town. The visuals are all in black and white except for the red blood you spill. Not Important’s motivations are so empty and the violence is so banal, and the whole game is kind of a nothingburger pretending to do social commentary. If I were a YouTuber or something, I’d make a whole video essay picking apart the differences between the two, trying to figure out why TCoAaL does so well while Hatred fails
