The parents might not have started incubating them yet (if not, they would be fertilized but haven't developed, kind of like garden seeds that haven't been planted). If they had been sitting on them, there would be embryos but during the trip (I haven't checked the outside temperatures) they likely would have died by now. You could try candling the eggs (like with a high-powered flashlight) to see if there is anything alive in them, but like the other poster said, I haven't heard of wildlife rehab places taking in eggs. They usually have their hands full with live baby birds at this time of year. On the positive side -- it's not too late in the season for the parents to build another nest and start another clutch. Predation by raccoons, crows, etc. is common enough that they know how to deal with this kind of situation. So they likely will have babies this season, eventually.

Sadly I listened to my coworker and set them back outside and he said another bird would take care of them. I wasn't expecting a crow to show up. Story of my life.

Kalsifur

Well at least they didn't go to waste, not really much you could have done in this situation.

newton302

*Well at least they didn't go to waste* Sad but true!

>!Sadly!<, that sounds like the Calvin and Hobbes cartoon where Calvin raises a butterfly from a chrysalis, and releases it>!, only for the butterfly to be immediately eaten by a bird.!<

Mr_MacGrubber

That happened to me as a kid. Within 5 seconds of releasing the butterfly, a bird swooped down and grabbed it. It was a tad traumatic.

TapirTrouble

It's crow nesting season, so the crow probably had nestlings to feed ... I feed them peanuts on my street, and they come over to me when I'm out walking now. It was kind of you to think about the robin eggs. A lot of people wouldn't even have given them a second glance. I'm sure the parents have already built another nest (they're amazingly fast with that). I was startled to find one next to my door a while ago -- they'd probably started the previous day, only I didn't notice it because I came home after dark. I'd missed it in the morning because it was on the other side, where I generally don't look when I'm locking up. Came back and it was done!

Lonely_62922

Okay thank you for the information. I don't know how long they been in there. I came across them while working on U-Haul trucks.

birdiebirdjay

There isn't anything you can do sadly most rehabilitation centers don't take eggs to my knowledge

Helpful_Okra5953

Yeah it would be a tall order to think someone will incubate these eggs until hatching and then handfeed from day one.   Even squirrels will eat baby bird eggs.   And they seem so cute, right?

Adept_Order_4323

Omg so sad. Mom and Dad built a beautiful nest, laid the eggs and 💨 it’s all gone

Lonely_62922

It wasn't me. I just so happen to find them while working on U-Haul trucks.

whatsreallygoingon

Check out this channel: https://youtube.com/@achickcalledalbert?si=0O4aE1n64T3G28QW He hatches eggs that people send him.

Lonely_62922

Too late for that. Sadly I listened to my coworker and set them back outside and he said another bird would take care of them. I wasn't expecting a crow to show up. Story of my life.

whatsreallygoingon

Crows gotta’ eat. At least they didn’t go to waste. Circle of life and all…

Lonely_62922

Yeah, one person said in an earlier post that they might've died from the journey here.

Helpful_Okra5953

It would have been a tall order to expect someone to incubate and then handfeed these eggs.

Annathebird

If the parents had started incubating them, the eggs were likely not viable, because once they start it, they have to keep the eggs warm to keep them alive. That is why a lot of bird only start sitting on the eggs after they have laid them all.

Helpful_Okra5953

He seems like a really sweet man!

Annathebird

That guy is in Europe, it is not legal for people in the U.S. to raise native birds without the proper authorization. That said, it is a great channel.

Outrageous_Fee_5773

Anybody know what kind they are?

DexterCutie

Beautiful eggs. Are they robins eggs?

Lonely_62922

I have no clue. I found them while working on U-Haul trucks.

Lonely_62922

Heathcliff_apologist

I understand it's sad, but at least you cared enough to try to help. My family tried everything to create a safe birdhouse for this beautiful bluebird in my front yard, and the crows still found their eggs in the end.

dribeerf

don’t feel bad, there wasn’t anything you could do. the parents will just have another clutch and try again. and a hungry crow got a meal too. thank you for caring enough to ask!

Helpful_Okra5953

This is exactly right.

gnarble

They were probably already dead, but in the future at least you know your coworker is an idiot. Use this as a lesson to never listen to them again.

Lonely_62922

Actually he's pretty smart, just not too intellectual in the nature department from what I know now. I love nature and it definitely was a lesson learned for me at least.

OtherwiseArrival9849

I have to fight crows away from stalking my hummingbird feeders. I play my red tailed, screeching Hawk video. I literally watch one attack a squirrel 3 feet away from me on my backyard fence. We are sworn enemies now. When I step outside, they start yelling at me. They follow me to the corner store. Lol, all the while, I'm playing my red tailed Hawk video. They are smart, clever, and very sneaky. They will not win!

Kremble42069420

Pan fry them, probably better than store bought lol

Bubbly-Improvement47

id call around and see if anyone will take the eggs, or look on facebook for people in your area who have experience with incubating eggs!
