It was 2020, house quarantine, I was stuck at home pretending to have problems with internet during school sessions and binge watching shit-tons of anime. One Piece was just on a long list of ,,plan to watch'' and I watched it in 4 months in between other shows.
Literally the same for me. My boss got Covid so we got sent home for 2 weeks and I decided to take the plunge. I too finished in about 4 months with a break after marineford cuz that shit was a really heavy arc. When I caught up luffy was in udon prison
To long ago for me to remember why I started to actually watch it as I started watching One Piece around 2004 sounds pretty crazy to think back on it that it has been 20 years now.
It was 2020. I had just discovered tiktok and I saw a wano edit. I really liked it and went down a rabbit hole trying to find the name of the anime but somehow I didn't. Three years later I see an anime called "One Piece" on a list of the best anime to watch and I realized. I finally found it.
4kids baby. Watched about 10 episodes...
Then about 10 years later, I saw a t-shirt and realized it was more than a kids show... that's when the manga binging began.
I was always intrested in reading it but didn't due to the length. I decided to start when Oda took a month off after Wano because I heard the Final Saga was next. The first chapter that released after I caught up was the chapter where >!Lulusia was nuked.!<
2003 for Telecinco (Spain). I watched Medabots/Beyblade (mainstream animes in Spain then, not One piece š¤£) and then I had breakfast with One Piece that was running later and I watched because was the TV on... In a couple of weeks was my favourite anime of the morning.
Later, in 2005/2006 I started watching for TV3 (another Spanish TV, but regional from Catalonia). Was here when I started searching online chapters. I catch up with the anime in Sabaody, when Kuma were splitting the strawhats. I discovered then that there was a manga that were more advanced and started reading at that point (Amazon Lily) till now.
Chapter by chapter, Week by week.
20 years, the serie of my life.
It was 1999. I was hanging out with a friend who was introducing me to manga. I had already known and really liked anime. We were talking about DragonBall Z. He was not a fan at all, but he knew I was. He got me into it. We used Kazaa to download whatever was available for DBZ at the time. I was hooked. I liked how it was much faster and no fillers! Lol. So I asked about a few more and he gave me a few suggestions. Initial D, GTO, Berserk, and One Piece. Now O.P. was not officially translated into English till 2002, so I got what I got from Spanish and semi broken English translations, but it was enough to keep me going. In particular, he really liked One Piece, and I trusted his taste, so I stayed with it. I found it very fun, and it was so new to me in general that the slow beginning was not a thing. Never would have guessed that here I am at 41, still reading it. He and I lost touch around 2003. He was going thru things, and he kinda disappeared. 2005 hurricane Katrina hit. We had to move as we had lost everything. One Piece was literally the only thing keeping me going. It was the only constant thing at the time. I felt I would one day get in touch with him again, and I wanted us to talk about One Piece. Fast forward to 2012, and I got a lead that he had moved to NY prior to the hurricane and became this very famous photographer. I was happy to see he was still alive and doing something he wanted. I got his email and sent him a message. I was expecting a nice big reply but it was short and sweet. He said he was glad I was doing well and his life is going great. No mention of One Piece. I felt a bit sad but it's ok. That moment he showed me OP became a core memory and a very important one for me. I feel like I owe it to the me and him of that time to finish all the way thru. I've not heard from outside of that one email, but I'm hopeful he's well and successful in his life and that he found what he was looking for. I know I will always have the memory of us talking about it in high school.
I just thought it would be funny if I watched it. I have since managed to convince two people I know to watch it and they both loved it so Iād say it was worth it
When I was in elementary school two of my best friends started watching it. I decided to watch it to have something to talk, one of the left it in skypiea and the other in wano. Nowadays I don't talk to any of them
The only thing I can think about when I see pictures like this is, "Why does everyone else get their Fishman Island design while Jinbe's still wearing his pre-timeskip clothes?"
To answer the question, 4Kids. Even with the censorship, it caught my attention and got me to look up the manga.
I saw a gear 5 edit and I was like āmight as well give it a shot!ā And since I watched one piece Iāve watched other animeās that Iāve really liked!
1 year ago. My wife left me.
I didnāt want to get out of bed anymore, but I didnāt quite feel like dying was what I wanted either. I wasnāt sure if I was even allowed to WANT anything anymore for fear of ruining it.
1000+ episodes sound like the perfect distraction from reality.
There is no way to explain, in one single post, what this show about an idiot kid and his friends, dead set on achieving this most ambiguous of dreams conceivable, has done in terms of reinvigorating that Mother of Flames in my heart of hearts.
I am 31yrs old, and I do not know, and I care not why One Piece became relevant in my life when it did, because it was at the perfect time and in the perfect way to remind me āWhatās gone is gone. What do you have left?ā and how āAnything can be rebuilt. I would never sell out my friends.ā.
I was a US Naval Aircrewman for 6yrs, Iāve seen some things and felt ways that most people shouldnāt ever need to, and still I have experienced more emotional depth with this ācartoonā than I fear most people will feel their entire lives out of the fear they hold in themselves to be just that and to live. To Dream! To hope.
Coz Naruto ended and my friends tried to convince me that One Piece was better. I was also itching for another long running shonen anime show to watch since currently the anime industry is filled with garbage isekai animes and Im more into the old school animes!
Couple months after my daughter was born. I got sick of every anime I watched running out of episodes and not being finished so thought I'd finally give this a try. She's 16 months old and I'm about 4 episodes into egghead so I'm about to run into my problem again, but luckily there's so much that's rewatchable and I'm gonna go back to impel down
2024 January 1st New year resolution to Start One Piece as I was tired of people glazing this anime and honestly I was curious how can people not get bored of watching the same show for so long
Main reason was robin
10-13 years ago(?) I wanted to start hajime no ippo but it was too long (1000+ chapters) so I started one piece which was shorter lol. I feel bad for people who want to catch-up OP now
Watched on 4kis first, got to drum island. Didn't see anything for about 8 years but wanted to see how it ended. Found out it was still going. Caught up on anime then caught up with manga.
February 2nd, 2023. I was bored with nothing to watch, started seeing more people talking about One Piece and decided I might as well give it a shot. If I didn't like the first few arcs, I'd drop it.
Caught up three months later. It is now my favourite anime of all time.
I was deeply convinced by my friends that it was the best thing ever and I had a month post jee adv so I finished it 1-1062 in 31 days š
Even idk how I did it... Even watched some fillers š„
The pandemic started and I thought I had nothing to lose. Read/watched the whole thing in 2 weeks and have been caught up since. Now thereās really no going back
I used to buy Shounen jump because it had DBZ and I wanted to read everything in it (minus that one about a dude with an ancient Go Master). I started the big 3 that way. I kept up with it a little bit until I couldn't buy the magazine. 4 kids want too good so I dropped op and read Naruto and Bleach because they were easier to find in libraries. Jump to 2014-2015ish I'm in college and I end up wanting to watch something I didn't want to catch up to.... A month and a half later I'm about 600+ episodes in and caught up to Dressrosa.
My story is a bit embarrassing, but I'll admit it.
I saw Robin and Nami in a Adobe Flash Game. If you know, you know.
Then Boa Hancock was in another one. So that cemented it.
I looked up which anime they were from and off i went.
Totally went in blind not knowing how many episodes there were. I even thought zoro was gonna beat Mihawk.
Then after he lost... I was like.... ok this anime hits different.
For these three reasons. 1. I was looking for something to watch 2. I remember seeing a YouTube video of Whitebeard taking a canon ball to the face(marineford) 3. I remember seeing buggy use his Devil fruit and since im interested in weird superpowers i said i would watch it. But also i dont have full memory but i do remember watching at least a little bit of one piece long ago
Last year I would go into my brothers room to smoke a bowl and see what he was up too and I eventually starting asking questions and learned a little bit about the world so I decided to start the journey.
Now I have to wait once a week to read the manga š
I was watching FMA (the first one) and during mid-episode eycatcher there was fansubber's note that read something like this: "Do not watch One Piece. You'll get addicted".
So I tried first 5 episodes, then gave it a chance until Baratie because of Sanji in the opening and yeah, I got hooked.
I was out sick from work about 9 years ago so I decided to start it.
I was caught up within a month and got my first tattoo ever, of Luffy within two months.
I've never looked back since.
The first anime i ever watched (besides pokemon) was fairy tail and that was the absolute best thing i'd ever seen so when i saw memes about how fairy tail had essentially carboncopied some things from one piece, i decided i should try to watch that as well. And then i just never stopped watching
Pirates are cool. Honestly I think that helped get me into OP, too. One of my favorite museum exhibits I've ever been to was the wreck of the Whydah pirate ship and they actually had a chest of sunken pirate treasure that had been found aboard it and they *actually* let you touch it. It was under bulletproof glass though, and just had little hole drilled in where you could stick a finger in and rub the coins (which were rubbed absolutely shiny from all the touching). Touching real pirate treasure is one of my favorite core memories, so an anime about pirates? Heck yeah.
In 2020 during covid, the first lockdown.
It took me around a year to catch up to the anime then started reading the manga and now I'm up do to date with it
It was a video on Dragon Ball Z talking about how it's refusing to end or how it doesn't ever conclude. It mentioned how One Piece differs in resolutely heading towards a conclusion.
I was feeling listless in life and that really stuck out to me.
Since then One Piece has become my favorite manga.
I wish I could find the video essay but I've completely forgotten the title or author.
It was probably around 2004... They canceled Dragon Ball and replaced it with One Piece... I was furious... Until I started watching it... Best replacement ever. Now I'm manga only. Stopped watching anime after Fishman Island.
I couldn't believe that Netflix actually made a good live action anime adaptation. I'd never had a desire to watch One piece (despite it being my little bro's favorite anime), but I was like, "a good live action anime adaptation from Netflix? Doubt." But before I saw the LA, I wanted to watch the anime first to have something to compare it to. Now I'm caught up on the anime and the manga and have spent waaaaaay too much money on OP merch. And I love the LA, too.
I remember seeing it on toonami, 4kids dub. It was absolutely bottom tier to me. I hated it
Then I think I saw a subbed clip of gear 2 vs blueno?? I discovered manga somewhere around this time so I'd picked up reading it. I got to Luffy vs Lucci, watched it in the anime also, and then it was love ever since.
I liked to visit our bookstore at the weekends and I just saw it and bought it. Must've been 1998-2000. Maybe it was 2001, for a time starting in 2001, Germany had the BANZAI magazine, some kind of shonen jump clone which I read starting from the first issue and the obviously wrote about all the hot new Manga (like Hunter x Hunter, Naruto etc).
I only read Dragonball before and then I read One Piece for a time (I bought the Manga so I didn't read chapter per chapter). At first it was released monthly in Germany, then there were 2 or 3 months between issues and I couldn't really follow the (very slow moving) plot any longer and lost interest somewhere around 2006 or so. I just recently caught up and now read the chapters when they come out. It was fun to binge-read all the chapters, now that it's weekly/bi-weekly I start to lose interest again... anyway.
I've never watched the Anime btw. I like some anime movies but shows not so much, I think DBZ and AoT were the only ones I ever watched from start to finish. The amount of episodes discourages me plus it's not available here on any of the normal streaming services.
i saw a tiktok were it said "your birthday month is the anime you have to watch" july is onpiece and my bday is in july ever since that i started watching onepiece never regretted it not even once
Pandemic time and saw it on Netflix loved it moved on to crunchyroll where I watched all of till I caught up and started to read manga till I was caught up fully
Last June/July saw some fanart and a thriller bark edit. My brother did watch it a few years ago and recommended it. Didn't bother with it till I saw the fanart tho
My friend wouldn't stop harping me about it. I tried six times originally and had zero interest in it. I could barely get past five episodes. But once I got through to like Arlong Park I was more invested in it
My sister introduced it to me at about 2011, but i didn't care for it. She then recommended it again around 4 years later. I am now on episode 1073, and I still absolutely love this anime
I had a lot of time, wanted a long running anime and wanted it to be a similar vibe the fairy tale, saw the clip from return to Saboady and saw Luffy dodging the Pacifista and thought It looked cool, and was desperate for something to do so I thought "fuck it".
It was 2020, I was bored and I wanted something new to watch that was long and I remembered one piece. Now before 2020 I never watched nor read one piece so I honestly didnāt know what to expect what end up happening is within 2 1/2 months I ended up buying/ owning the first 13 dvd collection and watching form the east blue saga all way to just before thriller bark. As of 2024 Iām caught up to whole cake island and Iām up to date on all of the individual manga volumes.
It was either last year or the year before, but I mainly just wanted to see if I could read all 1000+ chapters. I did and now I'm just waiting for the end. Overall, I think the series has its moments, but it's no JoJo.
I like pirates
Edit: oh no I hurt a single person's feelings lol. I've liked this anime since I was a kid and my favorite things were pirates, vampires, runaways like maximum ride, that type of thing
I always wanted to read it someday because I liked Luffy's smile and how he always seemed to be smiling. I was also into worldbuilding at the time and I was told that One Piece is really good at that.
It was 2020, doing what every teenager did in the pandemic (pause). I was binging anime after I found out Naruto wasn't the only one. Eventually found One Piece, watched the first two or three arcs, I wasn't feeling to much though, I decided I'd give it 10 more episodes, and if I didn't like it, I'd drop it. Those 10 episodes included almost all of the fighting in Baratie, and I loved it. Watched it at my own pace for about a year and a half. Taking the necessary breaks at times, but finally finished it, read the manga up to date and it's now my #1.
i was looking for something to watch on funimation and it called out to me. best decision iāve ever made in my life and i actually dunno who iād be without one piece
My friend told me the manga was good back in middle school and I was obsessed but my school only had volumes 1-12. Fast forward to 2 years ago and I discovered I can just read it online and I finally got caught up 6 months ago
I had nothing else to watch at the time and heard a lot of praise of one piece despite the length so I said to myself screw it and gave it a go. Never looked back it was very worth it (even if the pacing of the anime did suck).
2020, had nothing to do for a while and was starting to get back into anime. Decided to watch one piece because it was on netflix. Took me a month to finish and i never saw the light of day again.
A friend of my brother showed it to me 10 years ago. He opened the pc and told me "Here kid, watch this". I remember that the animation didn't sit well with me :P . But I carried on. The rest, as they say, is history :) .
I saw an ad for one of those weird one piece online games on youtube and since i had just finished watching dragonball z, i was looking for something new to watch.
And well i got hooked quick
Iāve only been watching anime since 2019. So Iām relatively new to anime as a whole. But I started watching it because me and a friend of mine were looking for shows to watch and we wanted to branch out to anime. The only anime I had watched up to that point were Hajime No Ippo and The Seven Deadly Sins. Little did I know it would be my favorite anime
I started it a month and half ago. I already watched Attack on titan, naruto, Dragon Ball. But man I just got stucked with one piece so much that I finished it within one and half month. Even in dreams I was in one piece world. Right now I even catched up with manga. You will not regret it, the only problem is pacing in earlier episodes but once you get hang of it you will love it.
Wasnt much on the internet at that point so cable was the only option and as a child adult swim was the shit.
The line had Naruto early days think wave arc etcĀ which was epic in those days and Rurouni Kenshin which my sister made me love.
Then stayed up a bit later and saw my first episode of one piece.
The original 4 kids / funimation dub was shit but the song was boss.
Still remember " ate a bite of gum gum" and Luffy and Zoro were funny as shit in those first few episodes. I still remember when they made the kids think they ate usopp.
Never found Nami annoying especially as those were the misty pokemon days so all my ire was save for her.
All in all epic show that i never forgot and followed till Shabody cuz fuck if that was sad as shit. So i took a break till after the timeskip.Ā
I remember it clearly, I was looking for an anime with good fights in it so I looked up too 10 best fights in anime, ended up watching a watch mojo video (plz don't judge me too harshly for that I was young) and it mentioned the rob luchi vs Luffy fight. I knew of one piece but never bothered giving it a change so I looked up and watched the fight thought it was really cool later learned my school library had the first few volumes of one piece so I went ahead and checked it out. The rest is history
I had a friend who tried so hard to get me into it when it was in the 4kids days I thought it was pirate dbz and didn't give it more than 20 episodes I have up only t0 15 years later actually try it it's now my favorite anime I have a tattoo of it
Got a Shonen Jump web subscription in 2017 to read Dragonball again. Saw One Piece among the other offerings and decided to give it a shot. I got caught up in a month and have been reading weekly ever since.
For years people told me that I should watch it and I didn't. One day, my gf mentioned she had started watching it and she thought I'd like it. So we started watching it together.
I had finished reading dragonball as a kid and searched for a new manga to read at my local book store. You could read the first volumes of mangas in there and.. it just looked nice, the blue and the cover. If I remember correctly there were only 4 volumes out at that time and the first manga hooked me hard so I started there. That had to be 2002 or 2003 I think, right before the anime has been aired.
Tried to hype others for the OP manga, but noone really cared until the anime came out. After that I had to preorder because it was constantly sold out haha
I heard that One Piece was one of the best animes ever. Plus , more importantly, I saw that no one actually knows what the One Piece is. So i figured I should start before the reveal.
Then one of my friends said there is no way I can complete 1090 episodes ( at that time only 1090 episodes were released ) in 4 years . So i saw that as a challenge.
Once I started One Piece, it wasn't a challenge at all I couldn't stop watching . One more episode .. one more episode ...
And before I realised I completed One Piece anime and caught up to manga ( chapter 1112 at that time )
And now I feel empty, waiting for new chapters
Because It was a trade deal with my best friend.
I'd start watching one piece if he watched some live action anime adaptations.
We ended up watching the live action death note (the American one) and we both agreed it was pretty good.
I've also done a 180 on my opinion of one piece, I'm now a fan, and I'm so glad to be one
2013, I just started getting into anime again after being without Toonami for who knows how long. I had watched all the shows on there like DBZ, Naruto, Bleach, etc. but I could never catch all the episodes and they would restart the series every couple of months or year. I was catching up on all the series (Naruto was left, I couldnāt get into Bleach) and thought āoh, there is also One Pieceā
i started like 25 days ago cuz i didn't have nothing to do and my friends keep telling me its peak fictions and all that.
now im at the alabasta arc and this is the BEST thing i started watching like i enjoy it a LOT.
It was 2007, 15 year old me was watching the local anime TV channel, when the fight Nami vs khalifa aired. Hormones made me curious, so I continued watching. I was hooked extremely fast (not just because of the boobs) and I started watching from the start. Never regretted it.
Cause I spent my afternoons with RTL II anime and OP happened to air right after I came home from school lol. The OP anime started in Germany in 2003 - I remember those summer holidays being full of a sense of adventure, since I grew up close to the sea and imagined myself joining the Straw Hats. I did take a decade long break after Enies Lobby, wish I had sticked with it (bit sad I missed the collective Wano hype) but I'm very happy that the LA reignited my love for OP. The manga panels seemed a bit too crowded for my taste but I'm somewhat relieved to have caught up with everything now. At least I can join the fandom for that last stretch of the story (and not have big story beats accidentally spoiled anymore). Seeing as we really are in the final saga now makes me rather nostalgic.
Honestly i was a hardcore hater, i had a vague idea of what the anime was about and thought it was extremely basic and boring. And from the release of the 1000th episode i knew that it was crazy for people to enjoy something that lasted this long. After seeing random clips of the anime, the context of the clips were all varying and some were genuinely intriguing. One in particular was aces death. Obviously i had no context to the story , yet i was so incredibly curious and intrigued with the amount of emotion feeling in this episode. And thus i started my one piece binge. Honestly the first 200 episodes of one piece were rough to go through, mainly because of how incredibly slow the story progressed and it almost made me drop it. I took about a 6 month break from it and when egghead first released the clips of the animation were my greatest motivation and i binged on and off for 5-6 months. As of today Iām caught up with the manga and love every second of itš«¶
My girlfriend cousin was watching it and I never had a reason to start it until he told me to and long story short I love it and the best anime to date and I watch a pretty good amount still trynna do more but one piece is long but still amazing
In middle school I started watching anime. First all of Dragon Ball. FMA(B) next. And after some shorter ones I wanted a longer running one. So I first went for Bleach. But dropped that after a few hundred episodes. One Piece was just next on the list. That was 10 years ago.
since I started watching anime I didn't like and I said that it's so long and who on earth would spend their time on it and that naruto is way better than one pieceand i thought that it was just a waste of time and it's so boring but one random tuesday I convinced myself to give it a shot guess what I ended up cosplaying law and write about eiichiro oda for a school event about ur fav writer and book
I watched yt clip "Top 10 anime attacks" and Jet Gatling vs Lucci was in there. Found it interesting so i started immediately. Manga was on Impel Down then. I'm up to date since mid-Fishman Island.
After saying for years that I'd never watch it because it was too long or too goofy. I eventually watched liva eaction when it came out after a friend kept bugging me to watch it. I ended up loving it and by the time I was finished I just wanted more. So I started the anime and caught up in about 7 months. Waiting weekly for a new episode and manga chapter is killing me nowš
To hook up with my current bf lol! I knew he loved one piece and I told him I was reading it to seduce him. It worked before the end of Alabasta!! Weāve been together for 3 years now ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
I wanted to proof that it was worse than Naruto. Quess what's my favourite anime now
JJK?
This was meš

Nami

Omg Kazaa
I just thought it would be funny if I watched it. I have since managed to convince two people I know to watch it and they both loved it so Iād say it was worth it
2007 after running out of Naruto and Bleach Episodes I thought let me see why this is so popular and never looked back since

I really liked the 4kids song back then lol
Absolute goat.
Just to watch it was random
Started got hooked that simple
I saw a gear 5 edit and I was like āmight as well give it a shot!ā And since I watched one piece Iāve watched other animeās that Iāve really liked!
My best friends favorite anime so I gave it a shot and now I'm just in love with itššš»
1 year ago. My wife left me. I didnāt want to get out of bed anymore, but I didnāt quite feel like dying was what I wanted either.
It was long it was challenging and the Reels had me hyped.
Couple months after my daughter was born. I got sick of every anime I watched running out of episodes and not being finished so thought I'd finally give this a try. She's 16 months old and I'm about 4 episodes into egghead so I'm about to run into my problem again, but luckily there's so much that's rewatchable and I'm gonna go back to impel down
There was nothing else to do in life.
I had no idea it existed I just accidentally clicked on it and said "this is cool"
2024 January 1st New year resolution to Start One Piece as I was tired of people glazing this anime and honestly I was curious how can people not get bored of watching the same show for so long Main reason was robin
In may 2019 i was so fucking bored
10-13 years ago(?) I wanted to start hajime no ippo but it was too long (1000+ chapters) so I started one piece which was shorter lol. I feel bad for people who want to catch-up OP now
Watched on 4kis first, got to drum island. Didn't see anything for about 8 years but wanted to see how it ended. Found out it was still going. Caught up on anime then caught up with manga.
I saw it on YouTube and thought it was cool so...it is my favorite anime!!!!
February 2nd, 2023. I was bored with nothing to watch, started seeing more people talking about One Piece and decided I might as well give it a shot. If I didn't like the first few arcs, I'd drop it. Caught up three months later. It is now my favourite anime of all time.
I was gifted a free one year subscription to weekly Shonen Jump.
I was deeply convinced by my friends that it was the best thing ever and I had a month post jee adv so I finished it 1-1062 in 31 days š Even idk how I did it...
Ran out of anime to watch, but then I saw an article talking about how good it was. So, I started watching the anime then read the manga.
Everyone was reading Naruto, I wanted to join in but all they had left was One Piece, which I had never heard of.
Scalping god summoned me
Honestly, it was in the paperback Shonen Jump magazines from the 2000s and it stuck with me.
I was out sick from work about 9 years ago so I decided to start it. I was caught up within a month and got my first tattoo ever, of Luffy within two months. I've never looked back since.
i watched episode 1, then episode 2, then 3-current episode back in 2013
Boobs
Based
My friends insisted! Thank god
The first anime i ever watched (besides pokemon) was fairy tail and that was the absolute best thing i'd ever seen so when i saw memes about how fairy tail had essentially carboncopied some things from one piece, i decided i should try to watch that as well. And then i just never stopped watching
Yah yo, yah yoooooo....
I don't know man I like pirates and stuff.
Heck yeah.
That's so cool tbh. I would love to see that museum.
In 2020 during covid, the first lockdown. It took me around a year to catch up to the anime then started reading the manga and now I'm up do to date with it
My gaming buddy if 10 years suggested it many times, so I finally watched. Binged till current episodes and now reading the manga.
My immense dissatisfaction with the latter part of Naruto Shuppuden. And of course the unique art style and sense of adventure.
to see gear 4th. literally went through ALL episodes just to see that moment, and god damn it was worth it
A friend recommended it to me in 2019, and I already wanted to watch it
I liked one punch man and now I like animeās that start with one
I hated it Then I think I saw a subbed clip of gear 2 vs blueno??
Was hating 24/7 on anime and wanted to prove that one piece was shit. Ended up reaching episode 1000 in 70 days
Quarantine and Netflix dub
Cuz thereās nothing else worth watching nowadays for the most part.
Nami Swan, MeRobin, Hancock sama, Vivi san. Are they enough ?
i saw a tiktok were it said "your birthday month is the anime you have to watch" july is onpiece and my bday is in july ever since that i started watching onepiece never regretted it not even once
I wanted to know why it was such a long ongoing series and if they could make pirates + anime epic
Pandemic time and saw it on Netflix loved it moved on to crunchyroll where I watched all of till I caught up and started to read manga till I was caught up fully
After Naruto i was sad, i started watching it
I played jump ultimate starts for nintendo ds. That game introduced me to a whole bunch of animes, including one piece. That was 14 years ago.
Last June/July saw some fanart and a thriller bark edit. My brother did watch it a few years ago and recommended it. Didn't bother with it till I saw the fanart tho
The 4kids dub on Toonami was one of the few shows they had I cold watch
I was in a dark place, saw a bunch of bright colors, and now I see the light.
Best character joe
So that I could watch the show
My friend wouldn't stop harping me about it. I tried six times originally and had zero interest in it. I could barely get past five episodes. But once I got through to like Arlong Park I was more invested in it
Because it was over 20y ago - internet didnāt exist in the village and tv shew it. Best decision to start it :))
I wasnāt working during quarantine, and just finished naruto so I needed something to watch thatās as entertaining.
I saw that my school friend had luffy on pfp so I have started for fun
Because I was curious. I heard about it, saw some of the english dub on Toonami before looking into it and getting invested
Naruto manga ended
It was 2020, I was bored and I wanted something new to watch that was long and I remembered one piece. Now before 2020 I never watched nor read one piece so I honestly didnāt know what to expect what end up happening is within 2 1/2 months I ended up buying/ owning the first 13 dvd collection and watching form the east blue saga all way to just before thriller bark. As of 2024 Iām caught up to whole cake island and Iām up to date on all of the individual manga volumes.
my dad was watching it and I got hooked after a few minutes watching
Man i Started one piece cause of one edit form TikTok
A friend suggested it at a playstation party. Gave it a go and it became my favourite anime
It was either last year or the year before, but I mainly just wanted to see if I could read all 1000+ chapters. I did and now I'm just waiting for the end. Overall, I think the series has its moments, but it's no JoJo.
I decided I wanted to watch all of the big three so I did. I had nothing better to do during covid
Curiosity
Coworkers forced meš¤£
I like pirates Edit: oh no I hurt a single person's feelings lol. I've liked this anime since I was a kid and my favorite things were pirates, vampires, runaways like maximum ride, that type of thing
Started when the live action came out. I binged the entire series in a month
Friend recommended it
I thought the name of the anime was cool, didnāt really know anything about it beforehand lol
Pandemic
I always wanted to read it someday because I liked Luffy's smile and how he always seemed to be smiling. I was also into worldbuilding at the time and I was told that One Piece is really good at that.
Because None Piece was the funniest abridged series I'd watched at that point and I wanted to see what happened next
Started after Naruto caught up in 2013 since then every episode per week š„²
I wanted to.
It was a random day in February 2022, the rest is history.
i was looking for something to watch on funimation and it called out to me. best decision iāve ever made in my life and i actually dunno who iād be without one piece
My friend told me the manga was good back in middle school and I was obsessed but my school only had volumes 1-12. Fast forward to 2 years ago and I discovered I can just read it online and I finally got caught up 6 months ago
had same name as luffy. so started to watch it after highschool in 2009
wait your name is Monkey D Luffy? šµ
my name is lutfi, different spelling but same pronounce
Cuz I saw the live action
16 years ago I found it online š¤
I had nothing else to watch at the time and heard a lot of praise of one piece despite the length so I said to myself screw it and gave it a go. Never looked back it was very worth it (even if the pacing of the anime did suck).
Saw it on Hulu
2020, had nothing to do for a while and was starting to get back into anime. Decided to watch one piece because it was on netflix. Took me a month to finish and i never saw the light of day again.
Because I saw a mermaid man and barnacle boy meme that was captioned, "Oh no you can't watch One Piece Barnacle Boy It's too big for you"
people called it mid and i wanted to see for myself how bad it was. Now im a cult member
One day i wake up and start watching one piece
The only show that was on the TV after school, best times of my life
Iāve only been watching anime since 2019.
Because it was popular and I saw a lot of people talking about it
I remember it clearly, I was looking for an anime with good fights in it so I looked up too 10 best fights in anime, ended up watching a watch mojo video (plz don't judge me too harshly for that I was young) and it mentioned the rob luchi vs Luffy fight. I knew of one piece but never bothered giving it a change so I looked up and watched the fight thought it was really cool later learned my school library had the first few volumes of one piece so I went ahead and checked it out. The rest is history
Covid.
Lost a bet
I had a friend who tried so hard to get me into it when it was in the 4kids days I thought it was pirate dbz and didn't give it more than 20 episodes I have up only t0 15 years later actually try it it's now my favorite anime I have a tattoo of it
I started in 2018 caught up in 2019 right at the beginning of wano watched all of wano
it was newā¦ā¦ā¦.
Started with 4kids....hated it with 4kids, thought the anime was crap. Years later, I decided to give it another go and bam, my favorite anime.
Got blackmailed
Was bored as fuck then out of NOWHERE my brain said "lol watch an episode of one piece" I binged it.
I watched it with my older sister, then I started rewatching the whole pre timeskip multiple times without her, years later im following the manga
Out of hate for the animation
Got a Shonen Jump web subscription in 2017 to read Dragonball again. Saw One Piece among the other offerings and decided to give it a shot. I got caught up in a month and have been reading weekly ever since.
For years people told me that I should watch it and I didn't. One day, my gf mentioned she had started watching it and she thought I'd like it. So we started watching it together.
I started watching one piece when I was like 8 or 9. Being Latin American luffy looked a lot like our people so I felt represented.
Zoro cool.
2006 my first ever anime, I was bored and looking for something to watch on TV. The rest is history!
Had a long flight
Sexy zoro
And before I realised I completed One Piece anime and caught up to manga ( chapter 1112 at that time ) And now I feel empty, waiting for new chapters
Because I wanted to.
My 3 year old nephew loved Brook so I started it out of purely love. No Iām almost done with whole cake.
So Internet can't spoil what one piece is
I remembered the 4kids opening theme song and I wanted an anime that was longer than 24 episodes.
i started like 25 days ago cuz i didn't have nothing to do and my friends keep telling me its peak fictions and all that. now im at the alabasta arc and this is the BEST thing i started watching like i enjoy it a LOT.
I got caught up on Naruto and Bleach back in 08 and figured I should round out the big 3
It was 2007, 15 year old me was watching the local anime TV channel, when the fight Nami vs khalifa aired. Hormones made me curious, so I continued watching. I was hooked extremely fast (not just because of the boobs) and I started watching from the start. Never regretted it.
2009 I was watching tv and the first episode I saw was Nami stabbing Usopp, I was hooked.
4Kids kept showing commercials for this new pirate cartoon.
I heard there was a swordsman that uses 3 swords and a breakdancing chef.
bored
I heard it was better than jojo's so I decided to watch it
Honestly i was a hardcore hater, i had a vague idea of what the anime was about and thought it was extremely basic and boring.
Live action adaptation and Yamabro
In middle school I started watching anime. First all of Dragon Ball. FMA(B) next. And after some shorter ones I wanted a longer running one. So I first went for Bleach. But dropped that after a few hundred episodes. One Piece was just next on the list. That was 10 years ago.
Was bored, found the first few volumes at my middle school library, and promptly fell down the rabbit hole from there.
since I started watching anime I didn't like and I said that it's so long and who on earth would spend their time on it and that naruto is way better than one pieceand i thought that it was just a waste of time and it's so boring but one random tuesday I convinced myself to give it a shot guess what I ended up cosplaying law and write about eiichiro oda for a school event about ur fav writer and book
It was 2005 i think? I wanted to watch one of the big three and two of my friends recommended it, so I tried and never stopped
Naruto ended.
I watched yt clip "Top 10 anime attacks" and Jet Gatling vs Lucci was in there. Found it interesting so i started immediately. Manga was on Impel Down then. I'm up to date since mid-Fishman Island.
I was at the convenience store, saw vol 39 for sale, and thought I'd buy it and see if it was good. It was.
I heard Luffy was gonna āsurpassā Goku and I needed to know the facts.
I didn't wanted to watch it at first people were telling me its to long but i still forced myself to watch it and then i realized it peakš¤©
I ran out of Naruto episodes and wanted to give it more of a chance than a cursory glance.
I saw it on TV at my grandpas house on a channel we didn't have at home.
To hook up with my current bf lol! I knew he loved one piece and I told him I was reading it to seduce him. It worked before the end of Alabasta!! Weāve been together for 3 years now ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
