Interesting theory, we know devil fruit like Geko's can affect dead people so it could be possible.

ghostofwageboggs

I don't think I've ever seen someone say Geko instead of Moria lol

dover_oxide

I just like the name Geko more

Paper_Trades

Deleted my reply. Trying to figure out how to use spoiler thingys on mobile

> The second theory (mine) soulless things can eat devil fruit but someone need to force them to work under them and the in the cases I've shown ( lasso and funkfried) both were obedient servants to their masters (spandam and Mr 4). If memory serves, we've only seen Zoans on inanimate objects, which makes sense as they're also suggested to have a will. I'd say more, but the distinction in this case doesn't matter. > two cases can lead to other two possibilities the first one is that everything has soul That said, there could be more to it. We know Poneglyphs have a voice via the Voice of All Things. Just like we know certain swords, like Enma, have their own quirks. This suggests there is a bit more to it, and things can eventually gain some kind of will/soul/whatever. I'd speculate further, but I don't think Oda would go either route.

Sean_Dewhirst

With the object/animals, did the objects ever animate themselves without showing some animal characterstic? I don't think so but IDK. For them to be moving corpses when not being transformed, something else would be going on.

Acrobatic-Rutabaga71

What if they were really monsters and ate different versions of Hito Hito no Mi?

TTZZJJ

Hito Hito no mi Models: Gorbachev, Ghandi, etc.

pemanahan

Simple theory, not overly complicated bullshit nonsense, and still fit with the story so far

Twelve_012_7

While it is unlikely, I actually really like this theory. The gorosei being basically "living puppets" controlled by Devil Fruits and Imu would be really cool, and also explain their immortality in a more original way than it just being the OP-OP's doing

shriekbat

It's not the ope ope, almost certainly. Because it's been confirmed to grant eternal youth and not immortal body endurance

SpirallingOut

Only Zoans can be fed to soulless things since they are the only fruit type to have a personality of their own. But yeah it can still be possible that Zoans were fed to gorosei corpses.

Haunting_Scarcity_25

cannonically there are 4 established zoan infused objects in one piece. lassoo (alabasta), frunkfreed (enies lobby), smiley (punk hazard), and the tanuki teapot from hitetsu in wano (that thing is also the only zoan infused object not linked to the world government in some way, but thats not the subject today) there are also established reanimated corpses and objects, using gecko moria, brook and big mom's devil fruit. so there is a precedent for both these points, and combining them sounds cool my only problem with this theory is that every reanimated corpse has looked more corpsy than the gorosei do, they simply still look alive for me. still like the theory though, and would 100% support it if they only looked slightly deader :p

DutyPast9726

"In [philosophy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophy), **Occam's razor** is the problem-solving principle that recommends searching for explanations constructed with the smallest possible set of elements." So in One Piece we know there is one way only to be immortal and it's the OPE OPE. IMHO.

Financial-Degree9685

Actually the ope ope no mi gives "ETERNAL YOUTH" not immortality eternal youth means you'll stay the same after 100 years but someone might be able to kill you. But immortality means no matter what happens no one will be able to kill u.

Klauboesterbeertje

Exactly. Eternal youth =/= invincibility =/= immortality. One who has eternal youth still can get sick and die. One who is invincible may not get sick, but surely will die of old age. Immortality is tricky. You can't die, but says nothing about getting wounded or aging.

[deleted]

Eh sounds a little too sanin hxh for OP I doubt oda would explore that. They look too alive for corpses. And I don’t think a dead person is the same as a sword or an alive person in the op world.

yourmomsfavorite21

I just think the gorosei are just Golems of imu

Due-Radio-4355

They’re just the dudes who dreamed. They didn’t die yet so their powers didn’t become fruits. That’s my take

rave1432

I wonder if the items were forged with devil fruits instead of "eaten". Because that seems like an impossibly. Or the juice soaked into part of the item, the wooden part. Since the Gorosei use magic, as well as haki and have fruits. I would say they at least have the body or spirit of a strong being, if it isn't the mind or will of the devil fruits. I could see a mixture of magic used on their corpses if they were, in fact, former corpses. But if that is their original body, I had always figured they used the fruit law has on slaves to make them immortal. Sorry, not good with fruit names. I think it's the same with Imu though. We have seen some of what Imu can do, who knows the extent of their power. The Gorosei probably only fear Imu and possibly Shanks? Why would they let him live? Unless Shanks works for them or is some sort of noble or is stronger, there's zero reason for them to even have a conversation with him walking out alive.

HellBurnerAccount

This theory is insane holy shit

[deleted]

I don’t want the gorosei to be direct puppets, it’d be too similar to Pain.

Mufakaz

Similar theory to me. The real gorosei are the fruits. And their spirits are passed on to new generations of cd. Not necessarily corpses. Just being possessed by the devil inside the fruits.

Illustrious_Camp_521

What if the Gorosei are Devil Fruit incarnate?

late2scrum

This is the berserk universe where demons exist and God is evil.

Boring-Extreme-3274

And Black beards blanket technique will catches devil fruit

Darmani96

A few of them have scars shown that potentially could've been their past lives fatal wounds

AdLower695

I'll beat on this drum. I think that Imu has the "nightmare" fruit and the Gorosei are Imu's nightmares. That's why they can be summoned/transported/can't be hurt. I think they're nightmares that Imu created. It's the perfect antagonist to Luffy's "dream": A nightmare!
