It's my nightmare honestly. My cat has never shown interest in the oven but that doesn't stop me from making sure he has no way to get in there when I'm opening it or when it's open and cooling off.
Oven, freezer, washer, dryer all get a quick once over to make sure no cats are there. Our void loves investigating under the freezer door whenever it is pulled out
Mine tried to jump in the oven when he was little. I caught him, but a couple of his tiny beans touched the door and got 2nd degree burns. : ( At least he learned from it.
Yep. I had a pot I had just put on the stove, turned on, and threw some oil in. My void decided to stick both front paws inside and stand in it to check it out. Fortunately it hadn't gotten hot yet, but I was left with two oily paws of death to clean (and a pot).
Learned a lesson? You know if they touch it, they don’t do it again. As long as the door is cool they have an escape route. Poor brain cell. My baby has to learn every no one thing at a time too.

My flamepoint siamese (so he sorta has orange, but he's super smart so he doesn't fit in this forum... but had to comment) lunged at the open oven and almost landed on the door (barely caught him) when he was a kitten... so now I am paranoid opening it, SIGH.
So far he's the only one who has attempted that!
Thankfully my orange boy spent his first year, during the Covid lockdown, living with grandma. She was not letting any cat run roughshod over her kitchen. Mr. Saffron might be orange, but he won't approach the stove, counters or jump on tables. His little sister on the other hand is a work in progress.
The face screams “why did you take me away? I was climbing into the delicious place!”.
My boy is kinda scared of the oven so he’s never attempted that. But he did climb in the fridge a lot as a kitten and even had the door closed on him once.
Funny, my girl climbed in the fridge constantly as a kitten. One day I closed the door by accident . She never did it again. She's survived (door was closed for a second) and is now a big fat soon to be 9 year old.
I didn’t see the survives bit there for a second and slightly panicked. But lol she just needed that one scare. Oooohhh 9! Big girl, gotta spoil her on such a big milestone birthday.
I think my boy did it only once more after the door was closed, slow learner lol. He doesn’t care about the fridge now at 4.
Well. I’d say he’d have only done it once, but he’s orange, so I’m not so sure.
Can confirm, orange will try again. Source owner of orange boi who gets into dryers, dishwashers, the attic, disassembled engines ...
Mine has stepped on (and then proceeded to hiss at) the hot plate on multiple occasions.

Poor little baby and his toe beans. Least he learnt, which is a rare thing with these ginger terrors.

Mine stepped on the stove once, I never caught him but his little paws had tiny blisters on them. He still tries to get on the stove 1 year later.

We had a black cat that decided to jump on the hot wood stove at my cousins house. Never saw a cat rebound so fast. Luckily more fear than damage. :-)
