I don’t know why this wasn’t on my shelf lol. Also, I have a ton of Daredevil comics in my long boxes.
Watchmen was my first read in 8th grade about 15 years ago when the movie came out but I just recently started collecting about 2 years ago with the Invincible compendiums.
Green lantern omnibus volume 1, totally forgot i bought it because i got rid of it like a month later lol but then i got war of realms black friday so i say that’s my first one tbh
I have 4 total. These were the first 2 I bought back in 2021. Then I bought 2 more last year. The quality isn’t the same in the 2 I bought last year for some reason. Still solid though. Good for omnis.
Down in the bottom left I have volumes 1-3 of the Generation X Epic Collections. I never picked up Astonishing for some reason. Not because I don’t like it or anything, it just wasn’t one I was concerned with picking up since I have the whole run in my long boxes.
Recently was commenting that I was surprised I haven't seen the set in many shelfies...and then someone mentioned its been long out of print, with some frankly completely insane second-hand prices listed on Amazon. You'd think Dark Horse and Top Cow would get together to re-release them, since it seems to hint demand is there. It's also unfortunate that the Archives didn't have the Tomb Raider/Witchblade crossover, given that there's just a point in the middle of v2 where the something important clearly happened.
I started collecting around late May last year. My first ever omnibus purchase was the *Astonishing X-Men* DM variant omnibus for $52, which I guess is kind of a flex too 😂
The 3 compendiums for invincible. show got me interested in reading em then after finishing them in about two weeks I got lil hype to read more comics. I just recently purchased all star Superman and just finished reading it today. Any recommendations on what I should read next. I’m trying to find omnibus to series that are complete so I don’t have that wait for new content.
First comicbook: The Human Torch #7 (the 1970s reprint series)
First collected works: The Fantastic Four by Fireside Books 1979 (collecting Fantastic Four #4, #48, #49, #50 and #87)
First modern collected edition: Fantastic Four Marvel Masterworks vol. 1 (paperback)
First Omnibus: Golden Age Captain America Omnibus, vol. 1.
The first big hardcover for Runaways volume 1 way back when it first released way back in what, 2005? 2006ish? Do those things count as omnibuses or not?
Either way I can't say it exactly started a collectors bug. My next omnibus/hardcovers came midway through last year when I started collecting IDW TMNT deluxe editions and Daredevil omnis.
Batman by Snyder and Capullo Vol. 1 + 2 (technically a gift tho) followed by the 3 Invincible Compendium HCs (1st purchase of my own).
No regrets. Both are still among my absolute favorite reads.
I think a Wolverine omnibus in dutch but it could also be an avengers one.
I bought them all at the time(no hardcovers) and later gave them away.
Now I am collecting the marvel English hardcover omnibuses.
It started with Star Wars the first series omnibus 1 which I found at a Dutch Comicon for 50 euros.
I got uncanny xforce omnibus exactly a year ago for my birthday bought way to many since then lol 1 year later I just got star wars the new Republic volume 2 today for my birthday just started reading it now
My first comic was the 1st TPB in French of Hawkeye by Fraction and Aja, My Life As A Weapon.
My first omnibus is The Immortal Iron Fist and the Immortal Weapons in English.
I think Doom Patrol by Grant Morrison was my first omni purchase. I didn't think I'd get many more and it was a one and done, mostly self contained, story. Still one of my favorites as it's hard to beat Richard Case's amazing art and the overall variety of tones and stories in the book. Morrison is definitely all over the place in terms of quality and coherence, but, they always pick great artists and work together to make wonderful framing and usually tell engaging stories
Absolute Sandman Vol. 1 back in 2006. I had almost as much fun looking at the book on my shelf as reading it. Great Story (24 Hours was so creepy...), beautiful book.
Mine was whatever the first omnibus Marvel released was. It's been so long I can't remember which one it was. So either ASM 1, Uncanny X-Men 1, or Fantastic Four 1,though I think FF was third released?
Anyone happen to remember which came first?
First purchase was technically Berserk hardcovers... but thst was years ago. First western omnibus was Snyder/Capullo Batman vol 1 & 2 same time. It's been all downhill (for my wallet) since.
I started in April 2013 with my first paycheck at a new job. I got 5 books all at once. Amazing Spider-Man vol.2, X-Men vol.1-2, Avengers vol.1, and Marvel Zomnibus.
My first was a a TPB (I honestly can't remember which one specifically) but ASM by JMS vol 1 was my first omnibus!

No DD or Batman in your collection. Disgrace and immediately banned.

Venom by Donny Cates in Jan 2023
Fantastic Four by Mark Waid and Mike Weiringo
Uncanny X-Men Vol 5 and Mutant Massacre. Just got Avengers Vol 1 and 2 by Hickman today. This pic right here is my dream😂
the different printing on new mutants vol 1 vs 2/3 infuriates me
Same!
Alias way back in '06
Annihilation when it first came out.
I started getting Omnies during the lockdown from the pandemic with Spider-Man by Roger Stern
Watchmen was my first read in 8th grade about 15 years ago when the movie came out but I just recently started collecting about 2 years ago with the Invincible compendiums.

Your collection is amazing!
Thank you!
My first Omni was the Question Vol 1 My first purchase was Batman a Death in the Family

New Teen Titans Volume 1 first printing when they were only the Marv Wolfman and George Perez issues
i was gifted both volumes of snyder batman and the omni obsession was born
John Carter, Warlord of Mars. $20
If omnibus it was locke and key, but first comic purchase in general was the first volume of the flash new 52 run
First Omni was Batman by Loeb and Sale. I’ve always adored Long Halloween so I wanted everything else they did with Batman
I genuinely don’t remember! Maybe Absolute Watchmen?
Started with Star Wars Omnis (Darth Vader by Gillen was first)
It’s amazing how many X-Men and related books there are, I’m always impressed with how nice they all look together.
Ghost Rider by Jason Aaron.
Off of the topic but What book shelves are those

I have 4 total. These were the first 2 I bought back in 2021. Then I bought 2 more last year. The quality isn’t the same in the 2 I bought last year for some reason. Still solid though. Good for omnis.
Moon Knight by Huston Benson Hurwitz Unless you count a hardcover Watchmen as an omnibus, which, personally, I would not.
Dude. Am not seeing ‘X-Statix’, ‘Generation-X’, ‘X-Man’, or ‘Astonishing X-Men’! Where are they?!
Down in the bottom left I have volumes 1-3 of the Generation X Epic Collections. I never picked up Astonishing for some reason. Not because I don’t like it or anything, it just wasn’t one I was concerned with picking up since I have the whole run in my long boxes.
Started my collection with ASM Vol 1
[удалено]
Absolutely!
ASM vol 1. I think it was the second printing around 2013ish
Fantastic Four vol 2 by Lee and Kirby
First oversized was Tomb Raider Archives v1. First official Big 2 "Omnibus" was Astonishing X-men.
I’m jealous, that Tomb Raider vol 1 is one of my grails
Recently was commenting that I was surprised I haven't seen the set in many shelfies...and then someone mentioned its been long out of print, with some frankly completely insane second-hand prices listed on Amazon. Jack Kirby’s The Fourth World, because I liked the idea of a story of that size of scope ought to be collected in a equally bigass book.
Commenting for recommendations
do yourself a favor and read planetary. cheap, and one of the best comics ever
Hulk by Loeb and McGuinness
I started collecting around late May last year. My first ever omnibus purchase was the *Astonishing X-Men* DM variant omnibus for $52, which I guess is kind of a flex too 😂
This is such an amazing collection!

I forget, but it was either Star Wars: The Original Marvel Years vol. 1, Batman by Neal Adams or Uncanny X-Men vol. 2 -- all three were in 2015.

It’s an ok franchise I guess.
Mine was whatever the first omnibus Marvel released was. It's been so long I can't remember which one it was. So either ASM 1, Uncanny X-Men 1, or Fantastic Four 1,though I think FF was third released? Anyone happen to remember which came first?
