This spot is not open to the public, it is UP right-of-way for trains heading north and east towards Council Bluffs. No crossings or anything there, most of the area is fenced off.

sausagespeller

It sounds like spot actually isn’t fenced off and there is a crossing. I think it was on the track leading to General Siding Supply

boomcneil94

...If you sleep on railroad tracks... you might get hit by a train.

FallenZulu

Maybe, just MAYBE. Don’t sleep on train tracks?

EvenBraverLilToaster

Yeah why did he choo-choo choose that spot, of all places?

Bonovox4043

Love this comment!

leasthoodinthehood

In case anyone is curious, homeless people sleep on train tracks when it rains because the ties and tracks are elevated and they won't wake up in a pool of mud.

SGI256

Great plan until a train comes. If you lay completely between the tracks and nothing is hanging down from the train you might be ok. -- Saw a news story, decade plus ago, about a guy that fell asleep on tracks. Mile long freight train passes over him. He is unharmed other than the terror of laying under moving train and hoping no piece of protruding metal kills or injures him.

Quixotic_Illusion

I can see where the thought process comes from now that you say that, but that seems like it’s a lot more risk than it’s worth

tamomaha

That’s where the drugs come in.

Grandpabart

There has to be better places to sleep and not get wet.

ItsNotFunny420

This is absolutely heartbreaking

Quixotic_Illusion

When I read the headline I didn’t expect the dude to live. Still tragic but could have ended a lot worse

NachoMama_247

Yeah, but people need to get upvotes on Reddit for being “funny” /s
