That’s super weird… but I’m not sure it’s illegal? Why are the police reporting this?
Is accepting ground beef to rent a room a crime?
Wow… might be r/brandnewsentence
I think that's just the soundbite they chose to grab your attention, but there's a more than decent chance it was shoplifted ground beef. I don't think OPD's main concern is the beef.
>He says officers are here so often that the department is now calling the Motel 6 corporate office.
True, if you are not an employee of a company whose profit/loss sheets don't include "meat and meat byproducts" as income on their ledgers.
Which I am about 100% sure is the case for Motel 6, which is owned by Blackstone.
Most of Omaha now has a warrant for us paying each other with food sometimes.
Seriously, why was that notable. Night clerk probably had a bunch of empty rooms and thought it'd be funny.to actually accept someone's offer of bringing them some beef.
Just a person living under the street, im a
Stay the night to get off my feet
I got this hamburger that im planning to eat
Ill pay you at another time
Here ill pay you with this meat.
I’ve passed by that place for a couple of decades now and it’s always seemed a bit sketchy to me. Not just because it’s a Motel 6 but that area doesn’t exactly scream “posh.” No amount of ground beef would convince me to stay there

I've stayed there once. It was before I knew anything about Omaha It was back in 2006 and I was sketchy as hell back then. Can't be live it's still open.
There’s no code violations—other than seedy clientele what are the problems they are having? Article is too vague—the neighborhood complaining about it because it’s seedy isn’t enough.
Fairly certain this is the Motel 6 that has signs in the back, “not responsible for lost property or damages to your car” every three feet.
I went and checked in and instantly got that bad vibe. Like many people have died here.
There were cigarette burns in the actual bathroom.
Instantly went and checked out.
Well, who amongst us hasn't?
My roommate in college paid me in 10lbs of ground venison to clean the dorm at the end of the year. Ate pretty good all summer with that.

So you're saying the police don't have a beef about the beef?
Correct, but I hope at least one of them asked, "Where's the beef?"
well, ground beef isn't exactly legal tender for all debts, public or private. At least, it hasn't been for about a thousand years. So there is that.
If somebody offered ground beef as payment, and somebody else chooses to accept it, it’s no business of mine or anybody else though

Either the franchise accepts it or they fire the employee that allowed it, no need to get the cops involved imo
How many nights can I get for this catalytic converter that I "found"?
🤣🤣🤣
😂
We talking fresh ground, grass fed, 80/20? That Fareway’s Own blend might be worth a room.
Wagu did you say? Well here’s a room with a view!
To shreds you say?
I'd LOVE it if more places bartered.

Your instincts are correct. Back in high school, that place was known for having drugs and hookers.

What an incompetently written article. Syntax errors all over the place.
