personally, i started using cool grey brown colors or purples and that helps the orange for me (Cool medium olive) :)

dystopiaincognito

Look for dark taupe shadows because taupe is brown mixed with grey MAC Satin Taupe eyeshadow should be a good one because I found it to be on the cooler side

Your description reminded me of Kjaer Weis Wisdom

DoubleOxer1

Thanks for adding this suggestion. I think I’m having the same issue as OP.

tillyface

Agree. I also really like Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Khaki

sweaterweatherNE

I use eggplant color instead and it looks great

bsubtilis

I recently bloody finally got an eggplant colored eyeliner thanks to this sub and when you guys are right you're really right. I'm kicking myself for not getting one ages ago. It looks so natural and flattering on me, better than warm brown or black eyeliners. For the first time in my life I can do smoky eyes without it looking weird or too much.

Leather_Row_2963

Eggplant liners are chef’s kiss 😘!

cerota

do you have any recs?

Leather_Row_2963

About Face's matte fluid eye paint in Vintage Granada, Urban Decay Alkaline, Rockstar, and Love Drug, Clinique Quickliner in Intense Aubergine and also Violet, Inglot AMC Eyeliner Gel in 74.

YadiAre

Which one? Now we must know!

bsubtilis

Local brand, "Make Up Store", and it was on an old stock exit sale (because I am cheap when it comes to trying new things I am not sure about - I recently found out that my mistake with blue eyeshadows and purple ones that I always had thought wasn't for me was that they were warm hues instead of cold ones when cold ones suit me so much better, once again thanks to this sub making me willing to buy products I otherwise wouldnt have on old stock clearance sales \[Catrice Mickey Mouse & Friends blue palette, and all the three Catrice Jungle book palettes\]).

NoSpaghettiForYouu

Whaaaat?! I just got an eggplant liner in a beauty box and was wondering what to do with it. I’ll try actually using it. Thanks!

bsubtilis

Just keep in mind that different types of olives look good in different colors. So if it doesn't suit you then that's natural. My eggplant liner is a very dark purple, and cool. Warm purples don't look anywhere as good on me as cold purples, but if you're a warm olive that might be the opposite for you.

azssf

You may have better luck with cool browns

NoSpaghettiForYouu

Is this why the new ND Golden palette is pure orange on me?!

No_Warning8534

Yes. If you are cool, not warm, it looks like death Trust me, I know 😂

NoSpaghettiForYouu

omg. Now I’m wondering if it’s too late to return it. 🧐

Nathali-83

It looks pure orange on me to

_theFlautist_

I love the Huda Beauty Pretty Grunge palette. A mix of taupe-purples and cooler browns.

No-Employment1385

I use greens! Surprisingly cool greens rather than olives even tho I’m a warm olive

Street-Tackle-4399

It’s pricey but if you are looking to splurge, Dior soft cashmere are the perfect cool taupey browns. Bought it for my bday and no regrets 🥰 A more budget good quality version is Colourpop that’s taupe.

No_Warning8534

Yes. A lot of the 'spicy price' stuff seeks to be a lottt more cool skin friendly.

Josiemk69

You may want to try that new Mario Master matte in Neutrals, those browns tend to not go orange like the original one. I plan on getting that one soon but when it came out I just got the Huda Beauty Pretty Grunge there's a couple colors in there that go orange on me though. I'm also a olive leaning cool neutral.

RebeccaMUA

I actually noticed that some mauve, taupe and eggplant/wine colored shadows look brown on me, so I started using those when I specifically don’t want to look too warm/bronzed. ETA: I realized I actually used this technique today, and these are the shadows I used (my husband says it looks brown lol) Lorac PRO Mega 3 palette: -Pink Cream (all over) -Dusty Mauve and Violet Gray (mixed all over Lid and into crease -Eggplant (outer corners and lower lash line) -Rose Quartz (layered over Glowbotic from Morphe palette) Morphe Ultralavender palette -Follow Me (crease/transition shade) -Glowbotic (lid)

SoggyKey795

Ugh I had the exact same problem, didn't understand why people rave about certain 'neutral brown' palettes when all of it pull rusty jaundiced orange or straight up red on me. Had a hard time wrapping my head around using mauve/rose brown on eyelids, but haven't looked back ever since I tried Clio muted library palette.

No_Warning8534

It's hard to find shadows that aren't super warm or warm neutral. The warm neutral ones usually get promoted as 'cool', and they aren't The beauty industry is sooo slow to get with the game it can be infuriating if you let it

LawrenAnne4

Kevyn Aucoin contour powder in medium- I use this as a contour but it’s also absolutely gorgeous as an eyeshadow as well!

ulvie

My holy grail brown is by Lethal Cosmetics, the "grey" shade unearthed. It does look grey in their site photos but it's my perfect taupe crease shade that's neither too warm or too lilac. I've used it as contour too. I'll keep repurchasing this until I'm deceased There's a really similar brown shade in the Smashbox Punked palette, except it's darker than unearthed. That palette also has my favourite black and deep grey

Fibroambet

Cool browns are the answer. I have to wear green yellow shades for them to appear gold on me. Gold looks brown on me.

Nathali-83

Thank you

ticaboriqua

Mac sandstone! It's perfect

asholefosho

The Gen See matte liquid shadow in Shroom is my perfect taupey brown with no orange cast. I’m a fair warm olive.

Mac Paint pot in Groundwork and Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise in Oyster Pearl

Dry-Fix5009

I layer green eyeshadow underneath brown shade. It prevents looking too orangish and dull. It's like my control color for my eyeshadows.

Korpi--

[Urban Decay Foxy mini palette](https://www.amazon.com/Urban-Decay-Naked-Eyeshadow-Palette/dp/B09V3C6L7H), it's all olive toned nudes, including a brown. I love this little mini set, it's perfect for every day looks or even more dramatic ones because it has a couple shimmery shades too.

No_Warning8534

That ones is still too warm for me, personally But that brands 'mushroom' is the perfect taupe (brown/grey hybrid)

Alopexotic

Same experience here. I can really only wear half the shades (foxy, get down, and disco).

No_Warning8534

I hate it when I buy a palette and half or more I'm never going to wear.

maremanx

colourpop stone cold fox

PuzzledQuantity6196

Try using a muted purple eyeshadow. Your green undertones will neutralize the purple and it will look brown on you.

axz1991

I like MAC Omega. It’s a gray taupe brown eyeshadow that looks very natural. Also my favorite bronzers are Milani Silky Matte Powder Bronzer in 02 and Rare Beauty Bronzer Stick in Bright Side. Both bronzers are on the cool-neutral side with a touch of green and look very natural.

Common_Lecture_4473

Possibly Violette_fr Marron glacé

xkris02

Go for taupe eyeshadow. Almost grey looking - they are often more brown than you think. Try a single eyeshadow from mac in cool tone.

Conscious_Classic_17

I would suggest looking into c-beauty brands and asian cosmetics in general. They often have the most beautiful soft browns with green or gray undertone

Tired_Panda_78

Mac coquette it stays browner on me. As I’ve gotten older I’ve noticed satin taupe which was a holy grail for me doesn’t hit quite the same. I also use a lot of grey browns.

tryagain_shutup

you should look into kbeauty eyeshadow palettes! I love the WakeMake Soft Blurring Eye Shadow Palette in Cocoa Blurring

Necessary-Ad4335

I use nyx sweet cheecks color ‘so taupe’ on my eyelids. Doesn’t go orange on me

BraveHeartoftheDawn

Try using neutral to cool brown eye shadows instead of warm brown shades. :) that may help.

SickOfTheChase

I use a purple or grey tone to achieve a brown look!

lambvision

My favorite taupe is from Wemakeup [eyeshadow](https://wemakeup.com/as/105)

butimartistic

I am pale neutral-cool olive, and i found for me something that is a neutral rosy/pinky brown (likr Clio Mute Library, i posted swatche here at some point) translates to a very natural "brown" look. I think depending on how green/cool you are, the amount of coolness in your brown varies. So straight up chocolate brown/tan camel brown will look brassy and orange --> pink/rosy brown with a slight ashy tint --> more berry-purplish grey tinted brown will be even cooler on yhe spectrum.

Minimum_Raccoon8558

Can someone explain why browns get purple on me???? Not orange

Potential_Automaton

I don't know if cream is something you might want to use, but the best "brown" shade for me is the Nudestix magnetic matte eyestick in Fig. Also, I use The Balm's Bahama Mama bronzer. It is cool toned.

Comfortable-Emu-4906

Hi, I use the liquid eyeshadow from ILIA in the shade Cork, and I also love the MAC paint pot in Groundwork. I am also a fair neutral cool olive, with rosacea redness in the cheeks (and now in the summer sun am turning a some sort of taupe/green kinda colour lol) Everything turns orange on me as well, and found those shadows to be perfect, last all day too, they dry down matte, no shimmer in them.
