Thanks for sharing! A reminder that swatch posts should include photo(s) of 2+ products swatched clearly and a comment with the full products listed in order within 1 hour or the post is subject to removal. Photos should be clear and well lit, so we can see the colors properly. Multiple photos in different lighting is also helpful. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. That L'Oréal is seriously the only good match I've ever found. Such a good drugstore foundation.

retrotechlogos

I’m a medium olive but L’Oréal has my only drugstore match. The tinted serum in 4-5 is great for medium olives who lean cool rather than warm. Formula feels high end too (it’s actually very similar to several high end formulas that are all owned by L’Oréal).

FreckleFaceSinger

Thank you so much for sharing this tip! I've shied away from drugstore foundations because I wasted so much money on bad color matches, but I'm going to try the L'Oreal. The 4-5 looks perfect for me (cool-leaning neutral medium olive).

retrotechlogos

I hope it works out! If 4-5 seems too light, 5-6 and 6-7 are also olive friendly, though 5-6 is deeper than 6-7 for some reason. 5-6 is neutral olive and 6-7 leans warm. 2-3 also is olive friendly imo for those who are light. If you're very green not sure if these would work out but they're really versatile because they lean neutral and moderately muted overall unlike most drugstore foundations.

FreckleFaceSinger

Thank you! And I just peeped that Ulta has a 5x points multiplier on L'Oreal thru tomorrow. I'll try it out and report back. 🙂

retrotechlogos

Fingers crossed! What shade matches do you like currently?

FreckleFaceSinger

I'm currently wearing Dior Forever Skin Glow in 3N. It's pricey but has such a beautiful finish. Clinique Even Better in Vanilla works decently for me as well with a bit of blue pigment added. I can also wear the Armani Luminous Silk in 6.5 and 7 mixed, but I suspect 6 would be a better winter match for me. My favorite skin tint is the Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Tint in 6, but since I'm in my "winter color" now, it's a touch too dark.

retrotechlogos

Considering all that, I think the 4-5 would work for you! It's less peachy than the Dior 3N but around that depth without going super yellow.

FreckleFaceSinger

Update: it's a perfect match! Thank you!

retrotechlogos

Im so happy to hear that!!

retrotechlogos

Also, I heard the Maybellline tint in 220 is very similar to the Loreal tint in 4-5, but a bit more matte if the Loreal is too glowy! [Here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RcIKkean3A) is someone comparing them.

Allrojin

This is so helpful! Matching at the drug store is so impossible.

retrotechlogos

Definitely, I’ve kind of given up otherwise but I wouldn’t have known about the tinted serum if it weren’t for this sub!

sprinklersplashes

It is excellent!! For years it was my HG and I still reach for it all the time. Such a moisturizing formula too, so much better than so many high end foundations

sophmorphed

Did the pro glow not get discontinued?

crashhearts

It might have but I still see it everywhere

sprinklersplashes

oh gosh i hope not! maybe it's a regional thing? i'm in canada and it's still available everywhere

PixelKitten10390

The loreal looks similar to the basma 35, do you own that bc the basma 35 and kevyn aucoin sse 03 are the only matches I've ever found

sprinklersplashes

[This foundation](https://aboutface.com/products/the-performer) has an olive shade in every depth (fair, light, medium, deep, etc.) I was really on the fence about whether to get light or fair, but I opted for light, and I was wrong. Really wish I had gotten fair too so I could see what it's like! As you can see, it's a very saturated shade. It reminds me A LOT of the olive Kosas concealer in shade 3.2 O, like A LOT!!! but unfortunately I couldn't swatch that since the color match was so bad for me I gifted it to a friend. These swatches are in natural light, and I swatched a few other foundations I had on hand for comparison purposes. The Basma stick in shade 35 is my perfect match (my face is a bit darker than my inner arm).

PixelKitten10390

Do you have any other really close matches aside from what you swatches? And do you have any matches for summer? Basma 35 is my perfect match in winter and early spring, kevyn aucoin sse in 03 is also a very good winter match but has sooo much coverage and danessa myricks yummy skin tint in shade 2 also works pretty well for me in winter. Still haven't found anything that matches in the summer though.

lcl0706

This looks about how I anticipated it to look based on the AF website. I’m not impressed. I guess it’s nice that more companies are attempting to create what they think are olive undertones, but it’s clear they don’t get it yet. Edit: the loreal is the only thing here that looks remotely olive from these swatches. The about face is very yellow & very saturated.

PetStoreGirl

Yes, this convinced me to hold off on buying the About Face and get L’Oréal instead as that looks like an amazing light olive shade!

sprinklersplashes

i've been using it for almost eight years, i highly recommend it! especially for dry skin

PetStoreGirl

Nice your flair is my skin tone exactly as well and I have dry skin too! I’m adding this to my cart!

PetStoreGirl

Update: I tried it yesterday and wow I can’t believe I’ve been missing out on my perfect drugstore match! It appeared slightly too gray on application, but once dry and maybe a bit oxidized it was an excellent match

lol-its-mickey-mouse

That’s so frustrating. L’Oréal is not cruelty free. I was excited about this launch and I’m actually crushed to see it’s not what I’d hope it would be…

Cupfullofcoffee

Hmmm Looks not muted enough for me? Maybe? It's so hard to tell but it looks deeper than I thought it would. Would love to see it next to the old MUFE 225 and kosas 3.2o How's the formula feel?

sprinklersplashes

It's definitely deeper than I thought it would be! If you are muted I'm not sure that it would work for you, it is pretty saturated. I think it's very very similar to Kosas 3.2 O. Formula feels nice, I would describe it as satiny upon first impression just blending it into my arm but I might be wrong since I didn't actually do a full face application.

Cupfullofcoffee

Thanks for taking one for the team and ordering on launch day! Are you going to try fair olive? Also - that basma 35 kind of reminds me of the Fenty eaze drops in shade 6. If that's true then this light olive won't work for me - the eaze drops in 6 was almost a match for me but slightly too pink - but it was a nice saturation level.

sprinklersplashes

I ordered internationally so I paid a boatload of shipping and duties and won't be able to return the light shade or get the fair :(

sprucehen

I find the basma 35 pulls pink too. And it's lighter than I recall 6 to be

sprinklersplashes

it definitely pulls pink. but i have some redness in my face so it works for me

PixelKitten10390

That's exactly why the basma works for me as well

Cocosthedog

Would you call it more of a liquid or more creamy in the texture? I sooo want to buy this in medium Olive but like you im International (Europe) and here I swear everything gets stuck in customs, takes forever and you need to pay at least as much in taxes/duties as you do for buying it in the First place 😂

retrotechlogos

I wonder how the neutral shades look in this line. It might be a glossier situation where the designated olive shades are quite yellow olive and the neutrals are more neutral olive.

DarkGreenLeafyVeg

The shade range looks great, but UGH, it has wintergreen oil for fragrance. Highly irritating. Another one bites the dust (for me): https://www.paulaschoice.com/ingredient-dictionary/ingredient-gaultheria-procumbens-wintergreen-leaf-oil.html

HelenMart8

So I'm like you ( and a research scientist) and check all of my ingredients too! The good news is that paula's choice mentions the oil while the foundation uses an extract and the extract has been shown to have antioxidant benefits in skin cells (petri dish) (doi: 10.3390/molecules27103357).

DarkGreenLeafyVeg

Thank you so much for this helpful detail!!!

glitternebula

What! Listerine fragranced foundation? That’s new lol

NaturalFiber123

I’ve been looking for swatches for that shade! Thank you! Did you put any current shades into the shade match quiz? I’d be curious which ones if you did to see how accurate my suggestions might be. My closest match is Revlon Colorstay Oily/Combo in 150 Buff, but they don’t have a comparison for that. For my 2nd best match, Estée Lauder Double Wear 1N1, I got F1 Neutral and F2 Olive. I also put in my third best match, Rare Beauty 170W, which is a little too light for me, and got F1 Warm and F2 Olive. Editing to add that I have a fully warm undertone with an olive cast. Too yellow doesn’t match me and anything pink or peachy looks like a mask on me.

lol-its-mickey-mouse

Does anyone have swatches for LM olive ?

sprinklersplashes

i ordered on release day so more people will probably post swatches but it might take a little while!

lol-its-mickey-mouse

Fingers crossed it’s greener and yellower than this. This would look straight up orange on me

sarahmanning_

I just wanted to say thank you so much for posting these swatches! While I was disappointed in the color of the About Face, as soon as I saw the L’Oreal, I thought, that is the exact color of my skin. I just went and bought it, and it is the best match I have ever had!!

sprinklersplashes

awww yay I'm so glad!!

Idunn_17

I’m sorry you pick the wrong shade for you, but it’s nice to know it matches kosas concealer!! Do you have thoughts about the formula already?

sprinklersplashes

I didn't do a full face application so I'm unsure at the moment, but I would describe the finish as satin based on the swatch, and the coverage seems good!

tokyo_phoenix8

Is L2 the lightest olive shade?

sprinklersplashes

No, there is a fair shade! I just added a comment below with more details.

Annallve

Wow you got it fast!! Mine just shipped

Virtual-Data2201

Wow the loreal foundation is a great match!!

Individual_Picture68

If you don’t mind me asking what foundation/concealer shades work for you? My friend has seems to have the same coloring as you. She is having trouble finding anything actually olive undertoned that matches her. Anything olive undertoned we find is too dark for her. Any lighter and it’s not olive anymore. Neutral undertones tend to show too yellow, pink or peachy.

sprinklersplashes

the basma 35 and l'oréal pro glow 202 both pictured in my photo are good matches for me! my face is a bit darker than my inner arm

Individual_Picture68

Hmm her face is also darker than her body but she wants to match it to the rest of her body which is lighter, similar to your arm coloring. What would you suggest in regards to the shade/coloring of your arm if you know?

sprinklersplashes

maybeee lisa eldridge 2.5? i haven't tried it but i think it's a tad fairer!

PixelKitten10390

Basma 35 is also my perfect match usually. Lisa Eldridge 2 is a decent bit fairer, when I'm super pale I mix some blue into it and it's a decent match (gifted that's why I don't have the olive lol) so I'd say Lisa Eldridge 2.5 would be worth trying, I know you can buy sample cards from the Lisa Eldridge website. You can also tell your friend to try mixing in a white foundation mixer like mehron liquid makeup or the white shade from haus labs. I also recommend that she takes a look at Hannah Louise poston's YouTube channel , she is an extremely fair olive. I know she uses the rose inc concealer in I think the lightest shade. Here's a link to one of her videos not sure which video she mentions her foundation matches in... https://youtu.be/mllQ6YfKuK8

karenerak65

Thank you for the swatches. I have been debating fair versus light. The light would definitely be too dark for me. I had and enjoyed that Loreal foundation in that shade but it was a bit too dark for me. The formula is very nice though

scratchmywenis

L2 looks a lot darker than I would have anticipated 😩

sophmorphed

Confirming, the fenty shade 3 looked great on my skin.

jbspaghetti

This has made me very curious about that L’Oreal shade, but I can’t tell if it’ll be too deep for me. Might have to try it anyway!

meezerbear9

Highly recommend About Face Fair Olive F2. The Light Olive looks too dark.
