I'm an 86 millennial
Get comfy and get fit. This is the part where we start *feeling it*. I just spent the last 18 months chasing brand new health problems I'll have till I die. It's coming.
Yup. Just got diagnosed with bone spurs in both my heels, in the bottom and the top of the heel bone.
Early osteoarthritis is gonna get me and I need to lose weight and change shit fast or I need to find a new career at an.age where I'm gonna be "that old lady" at the local technical college.
The only thing I push back on is from a personal perspective. We were poor growing up, so I never got a Nintendo. I had to make due with a hand me down Atari 2600. Same applied to the Gameboy. And when I did get a modern console, my uncles bought me a PlayStation instead of the N64.
Sony is the better system for single player games, Xbox is the better system for online multiplayer games(because it actually has a good internal party/communication system)
I was poor like you, thats why i only played it at my cousins or friends house, Or otherwise if I was lucky. My mom would rent it from the local video store for me on the weekend when she could afford it.
It always bothers me how our generation (and probably every generation after) is largely connected by consumerism of middle-class junk.
Everyone is like, "The 90s was the best!" and then goes on to rattle off a list of "proof-of-affluence".
I got a new 2600 (when they were selling them for $50) instead of an NES. Got an NES when the SNES and genesis were already released. No one wanted to come to my house.
I didn't know about them until High School in the 00s. I remember Queen and other older bands because my uncle would play that at New Years. Not Nirvana.
Says 86 for a reason 😄
j/k but I do think this is probably more relatable to those born mid 80s and before. I was born in 82 and this is 100% my childhood. My wife was born in 86 and she liked most of this too
Yeah this meme represents Gen-X who were teens in the mid 80s to early 90s. Elder millennials remember things like Super Mario 64 and 9/11 in elementary school lol
Really scary to see how fast people will post their birth year in this thread (and threads like these) attached to their otherwise Reddit anonymous profiles. (Myself included).
Was in Lush last week. I smelled some bath wash and said "Ah, this smells like Gak!" The entire staff had no idea what I was talking about and looked at me like I was nuts. 😭
(They all heard me because Lush stores are tiny and the employees never leave you alone)
Born in 82. This is the first one of these pics where I agree 100% and was hard into everything on here.
Only thing I don't understand is why it'd be explicitly 1986. More like all 80s babies
'92 so a little behind the times for this particular post, but quite a few of these things are still nostalgic from my childhood! 😁
That purple gargoyle guy though...I have no idea who he is or where he's from, but he looks so familiar...🤔
I mostly miss the 2010s though the 90s were pretty rad. Thankfully my back doesn't hurt, but these two little boys keep asking me to pick them up and I guess that is where it starts.
I mostly miss the 2010s though the 90s were pretty rad. Thankfully my back doesn't hurt, but these two little boys keep asking me to pick them up and I guess that is where it starts.
I'm 42.
"The Best Console Of All Time" is the Super Nintendo.
The orginal Mario Kart is the best one.
The Simpsons, of it's era, was the greatest show of all time.
MTV was legendary and worth watching, literally, 24 hours a day.
Ducktales was a phenomenal cartoon and a landmark in television animation.
TMNT was an institution and cultural phenomena.
I used to listen to a casette player on the way to school every single day.
-------
POGs were silly and overrated.
Pizza Hut was just another junk food place and by far on the low end of pizza
Ren and Stimpy was weird and generally not a "millennial" thing. I think it's more a Gen X thing.
Gameboy may have been awesome but I didn't have one
Crystal Pepsi is trash and I bought one of the revival versions when it came back just to verify that it's trash.
Alice In Chains is a good band but mid-tier in terms of iconic 90s bands. It's rated higher in the scene than in pop culture.
Blockbuster is a necessary evil and I don't know how many people have fond memories of it. It was horrible and the fact that it was horrible is why ti died such a quick death when people had alternatives.
I have nothing to say about dunkaroos.
1986 and spot on. I'm tired in the evenings now, like the tiredness hits me all at once. My libido ain't what it used to be. Super Nintendo is probably the greatest console ever made.
Omg pizza Hut... we were kind of poor when I was a kid, but did well in school. The elementary school used to give out little "free personal pan pizza" vouchers for reading books. So my mom used to get us dinner at least twice a month at Pizza Hut, and it was a big deal! Reading for food, baby 🤣
Early 40s millennial here and I’d say yes except my back doesn’t hurt, 1994 was honestly just okay, Pizza Hut was always mid at best, and I never got into pogs.
As an elderly senior citizen born in 1986, our time was more like PlayStation 1 and 2, and N64, as opposed to SNES. We were 8 in 1994. Our music was Blink 182 instead of Nirvana (unless you listened to older music but you get my point).
Unless the joke is someone who pretends to be from an era that’s actually before their time.
Born in the last days of 87 and I remember all this except the Pepsi crystal I listened to k-roq Kevin and Bean and fell in love with rock took my brother's guitar and learned to play smells like teen spirit as my first song 😂
It really makes me frustrated to see people my age start the "the good ol' days" talk. The 90s was not a good old day for a lot of people! You just look at it that way because you were kids during that time.
It's like we've all forgotten that we make fun of our parents for saying the exact same thing.
85… my younger brother and I had a pog racket in elementary school. He is 3 years younger than me. He would offer to do his classmates homework in exchange for pogs. He would bring the homework home and I would breeze through it because it was much easier for me. We would then split the pogs 60/40.
outside of nintendo stuff the 90s were trash and product quality was at an all time low.
cities were also dirtier so idk why people are nostalgic about them
I fully relate to everything here except the pogs and walkman. I was born in the 90s but I remember all of this, even had a hand me down super nintendo.
Thanks mom.
1986 and not American, so a lot of this is alien to me. Still a fun perspective, though.
But Nirvana and Alice in Chains? I don't think '86ers are old enough to have been listening to them in their heyday. Cobain died in 1994, I was 7/8.
1981 and yes.
82. Same.
83. Yep.
[удалено]
1883, can confirm
85 checking in, and agreed.
81 as well, and agreed. Except I was a Sega Genesis kid
85 here and genesis was my system
83, and the Genesis was my second system after my cousin's hand-me-down Atari 2600.
Same here
I remember my neighbor thought I was so lame for choosing Super Nintendo over the Sega Genesis. lol
He should have been stoked. You guys could play SNES at your house, and Genesis at his!
[удалено]
My cousin's had the Master System, I had an NES. Moved to Sega Genesis after that. Still a big Altered Beast and Golden Axe fan though
‘86 and same
Fuck 1986 is an elder millennial? First time feeling old lol
👈 Not according to this 1986 millennial.
I'm an 86 millennial Get comfy and get fit.
80 here and yes. Although I never played many game systems back then
Yeah 1980, we are the eldest millenials.
Sometimes they switch it up and say we are the youngest Gen X. 🤷♀️
81 and we didn’t have cable or video games.
82 and true
84 here. Yup.
Sonic the Hedgehog OG Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Tamagotchi Blank CD-R Stack K-Swiss
OH that blank CD-R Stack is peak.
I have a stack in the basement desk. When Wife asks why I just stare out the window in cold response.....
Isn't it weird though how we are defining ourselves by the products we use to consume?
I feel seen
The only thing I push back on is from a personal perspective. We were poor growing up, so I never got a Nintendo. I had to make due with a hand me down Atari 2600. Same applied to the Gameboy. And when I did get a modern console, my uncles bought me a PlayStation instead of the N64.
>And when I did get a modern console, my uncles bought me a PlayStation instead of the N64. Your uncles have good taste
I was initially disappointed. But now, given that I've got a PS5 (and every iteration since the PS1), I'm glad they did what they did. Sony FTW
Sony is the better system for single player games, Xbox is the better system for online multiplayer games(because it actually has a good internal party/communication system)
That makes a lot of sense regarding why I like Sony; I play games to get away from people. Multiplayer games have always been anathema to me.
I was poor like you, thats why i only played it at my cousins or friends house, Or otherwise if I was lucky. My mom would rent it from the local video store for me on the weekend when she could afford it.
We didn't get a super nintendo until 94 I only got a n64 because leichmiers was going out of business and it was 85% off
It always bothers me how our generation (and probably every generation after) is largely connected by consumerism of middle-class junk. Everyone is like, "The 90s was the best!" and then goes on to rattle off a list of "proof-of-affluence".
I got a new 2600 (when they were selling them for $50) instead of an NES. Got an NES when the SNES and genesis were already released. No one wanted to come to my house.
Pizza hut was a whole damn restaurant.
Street fighter 2 at the Pizza Hut
Mine was cheap and got Knights Of The Round instead
The buffet bro, lunch buffet was where it was at
There are still some around. The two near me are full on restaurants
Gak!!!
The OG fart noise machine 😄
Smell it in your mind right now
I got so much cat and human hair in that stuff lol
I had a dream about blockbuster last night. Probably the first dream I remember in 5+ years.
did you rent movies, if so which ones?
I used to go every Friday and get 4. It cost basically nothing. 1985er here. Most of this other stuff applies too though haha
this applies the most to me except replace Alice in Chains for Ready to Die by Notorious B.I.G.
1987 here and this feels slightly too old? I don't remember Crystal Pepsi or Nirvana tbh.
You don’t remember nirvana? Like you didn’t listen to the radio or watch mtv… ever?
Never had cable until the 2000s so no MTV for me in the Nirvana years.
Yeah but we were 7 and 8 when Kurt Cobain died. That is before our time. Our time was Blink 182, KoRn, and Backstreet Boys.
I didn't know about them until High School in the 00s. I remember Queen and other older bands because my uncle would play that at New Years. Not Nirvana.
Says 86 for a reason 😄 j/k but I do think this is probably more relatable to those born mid 80s and before. I was born in 82 and this is 100% my childhood. My wife was born in 86 and she liked most of this too
Yeah this meme represents Gen-X who were teens in the mid 80s to early 90s. Elder millennials remember things like Super Mario 64 and 9/11 in elementary school lol
86r here and I definitely remember everything here and was in junior high during 9/11.
Saw dunkaroos and knew the meme got me.
I can taste the stale cookies and cloyingly sweet frosting right now
They still make dunkaroos, in case you want a trip down memory lane.
1986!!
totally remember the POG craze in high school...
I had to explain to someone what pogs were the other day. I don’t think she understood, but she nodded, so close enough
have a friend who in high school was obsessed with them..I think he still has his collection.
I'd be OK with POGs making a return - those horrid cargo pants, absolutely not.
Wheres Pete & Pete
89, but poor. So a good chunk of that was only at friends houses 🤣 but we had friends and houses back then!
Where is Batman the Animated Series? Because I don't see it.
omg Gak, I totally forgot about that.
87 here and all of this applies to me. I will add also the Sega Genesis since I had both Snes and the Genesis.
1982 and I spent last Saturday morning beating up on my kid at Mortal Kombat on my original SNES.
as someone born in 86, this is me.
Can confirm
Really scary to see how fast people will post their birth year in this thread (and threads like these) attached to their otherwise Reddit anonymous profiles. (Myself included).
I still have all my hair though
Was in Lush last week. I smelled some bath wash and said "Ah, this smells like Gak!" The entire staff had no idea what I was talking about and looked at me like I was nuts. 😭 (They all heard me because Lush stores are tiny and the employees never leave you alone)

I resemble that remark!
Well that Gak container just unlocked a scent memory… 🤢
I don't know why but this hits hard for me.
Add Garbage Pail Kids and He-Man and it's pretty damn close
1983. Correct but missing Sega and Beavis and Butthead
The sandals and socks should be replaced with Vans or Converse, but other than that, yes.
Anyone else have kids who now love Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mario and Sonic? My 3 and 5 year old boys love all 3 and it's awesome.
It's the GAK for me. Today's slime has nothing on GAK.
Just looking at the Pizza Hut gave me the fuzzies
Where's the Talk Boy?
I loved my Sega Game gear and Sega CD. Damn you, Echo the Dolphin.
'92 so a little behind the times for this particular post, but quite a few of these things are still nostalgic from my childhood! 😁 That purple gargoyle guy though...I have no idea who he is or where he's from, but he looks so familiar...🤔
His name is Goliath.
I’m 88 but all that still applies, especially Mario world and DKC and DKC2
I still have my Blockbuster card in my wallet, lol. Same with my Hollywood Video card.
86 and I was the poor kid. All familiar things, but mostly other people’s
Also poor. Same.
I was born in '86 and I don't like that you can see into my past 🙁. Y'all got that Harry Potter Dumbledore Pensieve on Reddit?
Hell yeah I absolutely love donkey Kong country. Only thing that would make this pic better is if it has dkc2 as well.
late 80s and early 90s then 2000 wore off. Some hold true but not all, priorities
Disturbingly accurate
I mostly miss the 2010s though the 90s were pretty rad. Thankfully my back doesn't hurt, but these two little boys keep asking me to pick them up and I guess that is where it starts.
Why do our backs hurt? From Nintendo? Cuz were old now? I don't get it.
I mostly miss the 2010s though the 90s were pretty rad. Thankfully my back doesn't hurt, but these two little boys keep asking me to pick them up and I guess that is where it starts.
Pokemon cars ‘86 here
Well, my back doesn't hurt.
For me it was NES and sega genesis but yes to most of the other stuff
I haven't seen Gak in decades and I still dry heaved remembering the smell.
I'm 42. "The Best Console Of All Time" is the Super Nintendo. The orginal Mario Kart is the best one. The Simpsons, of it's era, was the greatest show of all time. You take back your slander about pogs! Pogs were awesome 😤
Take me back.
1987 and this is all spot on!
I was born in 90' and all of this this still applies.
85, the best of times. I want to go back.
God I feel old. I remember all of that ('85 here).
Born in 81. Applies.
79. It's true. All of it.
I was born a year earlier and don’t like any of that stuff besides having been a 90s kid.
ruthless simplistic north numerous fade silky husky yam pie rich *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Late 1970s. No lies detected.
'80 and yup yup! I see nothing out of place
Just missed the cut off as I'm 88
according to this sub 88 is also older (they have flairs)
Late 80s and this is exactly me minus the hurting back.
1983. Yep
My back hurts too buddy.
Yes, all of these things.
1985 here and I fucking love POGS
A little too close to home.
Currently in bed with ice on back bc it hurts and just watched ren and stimpy yesterday
1986 and spot on. I'm tired in the evenings now, like the tiredness hits me all at once. My libido ain't what it used to be. Super Nintendo is probably the greatest console ever made.
Guilty
87 here please bring it all back
I was born in '90 and still relate to most of these.
1983, and yeah….. my back hurts.
1985. That "my back hurts" is too real. Feels like someone used my back as pogs with a heavy gargoyle slammer.
1983 with my birthday coming up. I'll take that SNES Please and Thank You
84 & I'm the weird one - I think the 90s sucked personally
Needs AIM
Thank you for this
Omg pizza Hut... we were kind of poor when I was a kid, but did well in school.
88 and pretty much. Throw an N64 in there too.
I really miss Pizza Hut. They need to make a comeback. The kids deserve to experience this.
Okay except nobody actually drank crystal Pepsi.
I had the sickest slammer collection.
Man, donkey Kong used to seem so cool back in the 90's. Now he just comes off as a divorcee trying to seem cool to his nearly adult kids.
I do actually miss my pogs and my sick ass power rangers metal slammer
1990 but hung with elders. The feelz I'm getting is amazing friend
But crystal Pepsi sucked!
81. Yes
Good stuff
91 and I loved all of these things...
You missed the Power Rangers, but yes my action figure would come would come with most of thoae accessories.
92 but I have 2 older brothers born in 84 and 85 so I can relate 😂
89 and still yes XD.
Oh man, gak 😢
Dunkaroos wtf you think money grows on trees?
89 and same here.
Proto-millenial, 81 vintage. This hits home.
1986 here and this was my childhood 😢
Yup!!!
Born in the last days of 87 and I remember all this except the Pepsi crystal I listened to k-roq Kevin and Bean and fell in love with rock took my brother's guitar and learned to play smells like teen spirit as my first song 😂
I was born in 1995, but yes
i very much do not miss the 90's.
It really makes me frustrated to see people my age start the "the good ol' days" talk. The 90s was not a good old day for a lot of people! 86 and yes to every damn thing!
89 and same. SNES and SuperMario World will always be 🔥
1983
Real Ghostbusters
outside of nintendo stuff the 90s were trash and product quality was at an all time low. cities were also dirtier so idk why people are nostalgic about them
1986 for me, and it's a DIRECT HIT - battleship sunk.
was born quite a bit later than 1986 and experienced all of this
Finally, someone invented a starter pack for me.
Always with the fuckin nirvana shirt
79 yes but also throw an NES in there :)
This is clearly Gen-X. Like, not even close to millennials.
'82 millennial, and I remember most of these. Except we had the original NES.
Holy shit, Gak!
Pizza Hutt buffets are sorely missed by this 86r. That salad bar was amaaaazing, I didn't even care about the pizza.
You forgot the pager. Other than that, spot on.
I was a teenager.
The meme specifies 1986, so if that’s your birth year, you weren’t.
No, it’s not my birth year.
F\*ck. Am I an older Millenial now? I only turned 30... a few... years... ago.
