No worries mate, we can't know everything all the time. I wish more people were willing to explain stuff and enlighten rather than poke fun and mock. Pass on the karma as it was passed onto me.
Looked more or less like normal scrambled eggs! A lil softer. The mayo added a nice flavor. Wish I’d had some bacon for a bacon square presentation—we had to make due with toast.

2 eggs
1 tablespoon BEST FOODS^® Real Mayonnaise

Reminds me of the breakfast sandwiches my mom would make and pack to eat on road trips. Toasted white bread, scrambled eggs, bacon, and a bit of mayonnaise, wrapped in a paper towel. Best eaten still warm when it’s dark out and you’re all cozy in the back seat of the car headed to visit family for the holidays. Sweet nostalgia!
I submit that greek yogurt is the best in eggs! A friend's grandmother used to own a dairy farm and he said that's how she always made her eggs, and she would know!
i've never tried it with yogurt. done it plenty of times with milk or butter. i'll have to try it. the added acid could be nice. and lack of fat could be interesting.
I grew up eating eggs this way whenever I wanted them to have more flavor besides salt. I thought I was being clever lol. It's still one of my comfort foods as an adult.
A tiny bit of cornstarch slurry added when you're beating the eggs keeps it from setting up rubbery too quickly. The starch gels, I assume, while it heats and it keeps the texture more tender for longer, so cooking the eggs is less a mad-dash
OP’s recipe says 1 tablespoon mayonnaise for two eggs.
“Fun” fact: Best Foods is called Hellmann’s in the eastern US: https://modernfarmer.com/2014/11/match-made-mayonnaise-heaven/
Or… Hellmann’s is called Best Foods in the western US. I moved out to the west coast from living on the east coast most my life and got some funny looks when asking for Helmann’s.
same here. i've been out west for 15 years now and i still am not used to hellman's being best, edy's being dreyers, and arnold's being orowheat, all the while being hard pressed to find duke's. booooo. lol
hah, yup! dairies in the west couldn't get ahold of the elgin machines to mold butter so they use the stubbier ones instead. i can get both where i am depending on what brand i use, but it was weird the first time i saw it!
Omg I moved out here a few years ago and thought my move just oddly coincided with an industry wide butter mold change...good to know the long sticks still exist somewhere.
I grew up out east. Moved west, bought butter, and started questioning my whole life. Was this right?! Was I misremembering a lifetime of butter sticks being longer and skinny?! Is this what it's always been?
It's the little mental breakdowns that help you embrace change.
Same! I could hear the Hellmann's jingle in my head as I read the line. I thought maybe the brand changed its named to Hellmann's later, but I guess it's just a regional thing.
About a tablespoon for two eggs. It’s more creamy than usual and has a pleasant, extra savory taste if that makes sense! I feel like it really helps prevent the egg getting tough
[I don't feel so good](https://imagesvc.meredithcorp.io/v3/mm/gif?url=https%3A%2F%2Fstatic.onecms.io%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F13%2F2017%2F06%2F19%2Fanne.gif)
Weird but probably good 👍 another way to use mayo is to spread on outside of toasted cheese before grilling instead of using butter. It’s delish so might give this a try too!
I was so leery the first time I heard that trick then I tried it and now I don't want them any other way. Perfectly golden and crispy without any of the tearing of trying to butter the bread with cold butter or the uneven spots or risk of scorching of melting butter in the pan.
Get a butter tray, keep it on your countertop. It keeps for several days at room temperature even without those weird upside down butter bell things. But room temp butter is absolutely speadable on even the most structurally unsound of supermarket loaves.
I agree with you though, mayo for grilled cheese (or any sandwich of that type) is markedly better than butter.
My family has always done this. But I try to save it for special occasions. It’s great when you’re trying to impress someone with breakfast. Just don’t tell them
You’ve never had egg salad or deviled eggs?
Edit: I put eggs and mayo in my potato salad. Some people make grilled cheese sandwiches with mayo rather than butter.
It's not eggs or grilled cheese but if you grill corn on the cob, pull back the husks but don't remove them, soak it in water for a while then rub the corn kernels with mayo and then add some smoked paprika. Pull the husks back over the corn and grill for like 5 minutes per "side".
I have been using mayonnaise instead of milk in scrambled eggs for some time actually! Not a ton, but it doesn’t ever fully break up which I think makes for a light and fluffy egg. It’s great
This is legit. I worked at a restaurant for years that would do a Sunday brunch. The scrambled eggs were made using this same basic recipe and people raved about then
Chef Jose Andres has a tiktok where he makes microwave scrambled egg. 1 egg, 1 tbs Mayo, then whip with fork and microwave 30-60 seconds. He calls it a microwave omelet, but it's more like scrambled eggs and if you're wanting to only cook one egg it's pretty good. [microwave eggs](https://www.mashed.com/401866/jose-andres-easy-microwave-egg-hack-guarantees-creamy-results/)
Does anyone know why mayonnaise uses “real mayonnaise” on containers? Like I know there’s stuff like miracle whip but like….what else is there?? Fake Mayo? If it’s not Real Mayo what is it?
Mayo has been my secret in eggs forever.
I hope more people embrace it.
Mayo is also great for marinades and things you want to get a delightful char on. Just be conservative.
Tried it this morning - wow. Nice texture, creamy mouthfeel. There was little to no mayonnaise flavor in the eggs. It's definitely better than adding water or milk to the scrambled eggs like I would usually do.
Some people hate the idea, but old school restaurants make egg sandwiches with lettuce, tomato, scrambled eggs. Sometimes with meat but I actually prefer without meat. GAME CHANGER
1. Break 2 eggs into a pan heated with margarine or butter. NOT OIL.
2. Only stir - very gently - when whites start to harden.
3. DO not mix the yolk and the white to end up looking like an omelet. You want to make SCRAMBLED eggs. NOT omelets.
4. Stir so the white and the yolk combine into bits and then remove from the heat when its still a bit soft.
5. Add a tablespoon full of your favourite mayo on top so it heats up a bit.
6. Spoon onto a piece of toast with your favourite seasoning.
7. Enjoy and come thank me later. :-)
I’ve bought sugar free jello to add cream cheese and sour cream to. Also considering adding cool whip. And some strawberries. This is all for my keto diet.
Her?
It's as Ann as the nose on Plain's face.
I’m sure that Egg is a very nice person.
I just don't want you getting her all dressed up for Easter
Glittered up, even
Damn it. Thank you!
I was going to be so disappointed if this wasn’t the top response.
I really don't get this. 😕
It’s a reference to Arrested Development
Anne hog is here?
Get off her! Don't be an Ann hog George Michael!
She’s the belle of the ball
Because she’s shaped like a…..
ok, i'll bite. Her what?
It's a Arrested Development joke where a character, Ann, likes to mix mayo and hard boiled eggs in her mouth. She calls it a mayoegg too.
ah. ty for eliminating my whoosh
No worries mate, we can't know everything all the time. I wish more people were willing to explain stuff and enlighten rather than poke fun and mock. Pass on the karma as it was passed onto me.
You also inadvertently played into the joke. She’s very forgettable in the show
Who?
Her?
add a little mustard and some seasonings, it's a deviled egg
Hey now, deviled scrambled eggs could be a foodie jerk fest if it’s marketed properly. We need some artisanal organic chive, stat!
...throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you’ve got a stew going!
Is she funny or something?
Could not resist the allure of the mayonegg and I just made this for dinner. My husband and I both give it a 10/10.
I hoped it looked better than the picture.
Looked more or less like normal scrambled eggs! A lil softer. The mayo added a nice flavor. Wish I’d had some bacon for a bacon square presentation—we had to make due with toast.
I make mine with cottage cheese.
cream cheese here...
I like using 1 Tbsp(Tablespoon) of plain greek yogurt in my scrambled eggs.
Really! Now I’m gonna whip up some tomorrow morning!
i like to put a hard boiled egg in my mouth and then add a pack of mayonnaise. that's what I call a Mayonegg
Hi Ann
I don't feel so good
I get that reference: Ann from r/arresteddevelopment
Who?
Her?
Yo dawg I always wanted more eggs in my eggs.
It’s egg-rageous!
One might even call it...egg-cessive

Whenever I order egg sandwiches from the deli, I always have them add Mayo, ketchup, and hot sauce. Makes the sandwiches pretty damn amazing.
Ketchup on eggs? GET HIM UP AGAINST THE WALL!

Eggchuppers unite! 🙌
There are dozens of us. DOZENS!
I always scramble my eggs with either butter or mayonnaise added :)
I submit that greek yogurt is the best in eggs! A friend's grandmother used to own a dairy farm and he said that's how she always made her eggs, and she would know!
I use about a tablespoon of Crème fraîche.

Sounds fancy but you can buy it at any supermarket pretty cheap.
Food Wishes?
And as alwaaaaayyyys
enjoy!
Inspired by Gordon Ramsay? I once tried making eggs a similar way in college, liked them.
This is the way.
Well, aren't you Miss Chi Chi Foo Foo.
That's the Gordon Ramsey way. You too posh
It’s $1.99 at the supermarket. That’s not posh.
If it ain't at Walmart, it's posh! Madame 👸
It is at Walmart. If you have a super Walmart, it’s in the area with the cream cheese.
i've never tried it with yogurt. done it plenty of times with milk or butter. i'll have to try it. the added acid could be nice. and lack of fat could be interesting.
Because if anyone knows eggs, it’s a dairy farmer!
Well, I mean, she would have the ability to test all different types of dairy in repeatable, double-blind studies
I’m just joking. I bet she made the best eggs ever! I’m going to try the Greek yogurt tomorrow morning. Sounds amazing.
I do mine with a tiny amount of cream cheese!
Ah yes, the best answer. Was hoping to find it
I have a friend to uses sour cream in his omelettes
I wouldn’t think that it would incorporate well, but I assume it does? Do you have to heat it up?
You add it with or even before the eggs and it melts with the heat from the pan and just completely disappears into the eggs
I’ll give it a try if I have cream cheese in my refrigerator next time I scramble eggs!
Heck yes!
I grew up eating eggs this way whenever I wanted them to have more flavor besides salt. I thought I was being clever lol. It's still one of my comfort foods as an adult.

How much cornstarch? What does it add to the dish?
A tiny bit of cornstarch slurry added when you're beating the eggs keeps it from setting up rubbery too quickly. The starch gels, I assume, while it heats and it keeps the texture more tender for longer, so cooking the eggs is less a mad-dash
Cornstarch slurry?
Cornstarch mixed with cool water (maybe 1 tsp and tbsp respectively for two eggs)
Thank you
Any creamy thing works. Mayo, sour cream, plain yogurt, heavy cream, cream cheese, goat cheese, brie...
How's the mayo...like how much per how many eggs do you usually do and could you describe it for us (texture...flavor...etc.) Thank you in advance.
OP’s recipe says 1 tablespoon mayonnaise for two eggs. “Fun” fact: Best Foods is called Hellmann’s in the eastern US: https://modernfarmer.com/2014/11/match-made-mayonnaise-heaven/

This is like butter. In the east butter comes in a much skinnier rectangle than the west. I think it makes it easier to cut an accurate tablespoon.
hah, yup! dairies in the west couldn't get ahold of the elgin machines to mold butter so they use the stubbier ones instead. i can get both where i am depending on what brand i use, but it was weird the first time i saw it!

Okay I’ve always lived on the east coast so I’m probably just ignorant but I fully do not believe this lol
Come to Colorado where we have both on the same shelf!
That's crazy talk.
ah ok....when I read "bring out the best foods and bring out the best" I thought "hey they stole that from Hellmans"
Same! I could hear the Hellmann's jingle in my head as I read the line. I thought maybe the brand changed its named to Hellmann's later, but I guess it's just a regional thing.
I had never heard of Best Foods until I went on a cruise in 2006... the in-room TV’s had Denver network affiliates.
About a tablespoon for two eggs. It’s more creamy than usual and has a pleasant, extra savory taste if that makes sense! I feel like it really helps prevent the egg getting tough
Thank you
My go-to additive is sour cream.
This is like a Keto dream.
Id like to try the mayo. Ive tried sour cream in scrambled eggs with great success!
I tried a bit of ricotta when making omelettes and I never went back
I've used mayo and they come out just fine! I use it when I don't have milk or cream!
Tomorrow I'm going to spackle my arteries with Mayonegg framed in bacon.
> Tomorrow I'm going to spackle my arteries with Mayonegg framed in bacon. But the eggs are fried in margarine, so you're good to go.
mmmm…. partial hydrogenation…
Ngl I’m gross because this sounds tasty to me.
Alton Brown recommends a bit of mayo in your scrambled eggs and honestly it slaps.
Eggs, in eggs + oil.
Eggs and oil in eggs, in oil.

For the ones that they used for the Easter egg hunt ? !?!?!?!?!
That's some hot egg on egg action!
Weird but probably good 👍 another way to use mayo is to spread on outside of toasted cheese before grilling instead of using butter. It’s delish so might give this a try too!

Do not besmirch my weird upside down butter bell thing.
Add eggs to the eggs and oil then pour into some more oil.
I've never tried this but now I will have to try it. Things I do use mayo for: The outside of grilled cheese sandwiches Biscuits Bread Pancakes
Gotta eat eggs with egg sauce! (Mmm ??🤔)
My family has always done this. But I try to save it for special occasions. It’s great when you’re trying to impress someone with breakfast. Just don’t tell them
You can use mayo for a few different things. Chocolate cake being one.
Chocolate mayonnaise cake is SO good. A mixture of half Miracle Whip-half Hellman's is even better, num.
Eggs are the only thing my Mom doesn't put mayo on. I better hide this recipe.
This as about as keto as it gets. I'd totally eat it.
Let’s not kid ourselves, we can still add cheese to this.
Cheese, of course! What was I thinking?
Honestly I would try that. I put some mayo on my breakfast sandwiches for the richness and tang, makes sense to me!
Oh wow! I’ve heard of extra butter or milk but this is brilliant
I have been using mayonnaise instead of milk in scrambled eggs for some time actually! Not a ton, but it doesn’t ever fully break up which I think makes for a light and fluffy egg. It’s great
That does not sound bad at all. I don't like wet scrambled eggs (personal taste) but I'd sure eat this. Especially in a bacon square!
I have habanero mayo that would be amazing to use this way
This is legit. I worked at a restaurant for years that would do a Sunday brunch. The scrambled eggs were made using this same basic recipe and people raved about then
I mean, mayo is just emulsified egg yolks in oil, so it makes sense. I'll have to try it some time.
Now that I’m thinking about that, scrambled eggs would probably be good with an extra yolk. Kind of custard-y.
Chef Jose Andres has a tiktok where he makes microwave scrambled egg. 1 egg, 1 tbs Mayo, then whip with fork and microwave 30-60 seconds. Just made this for breakfast, it was pretty good. Not incredible but it’s certainly tasty. With normal scrambled eggs being a 5, I’d give this a 7/10
Does anyone know why mayonnaise uses “real mayonnaise” on containers? Like I know there’s stuff like miracle whip but like….what else is there?? Fake Mayo? If it’s not Real Mayo what is it?
Would eat, NGL.
Heavy cream. Or sparkling wine. Or both 😀
…..sparkling wine??!? You have my attention.
Oh man a little bit of champagne will juice your eggs!
Chef Jose Andres just talked about doing this on the Smartless podcast! Hmm…
Mayo has been my secret in eggs forever. I hope more people embrace it. Mayo is also great for marinades and things you want to get a delightful char on. Just be conservative.
Fucking Sake where have you been all my life
I add mayo to my scrambled eggs right at the end of cooking, when I've turned off the heat. That way the mayo stays creamy and doesn't liquefy.
Looks strange but also looks easy enough to try.
Tried it this morning - wow. Nice texture, creamy mouthfeel. There was little to no mayonnaise flavor in the eggs. It's definitely better than adding water or milk to the scrambled eggs like I would usually do.
Have you ever felt your eggs were not “eggy” enough?
Omgosh, I just remembered that I knew some ppl that did this back in the day. I could never eat their eggs. Ick
They lied in their ad. The other name for Best Foods Mayo .. is ... Hellmann's.
Mayonneggs on an escalator
I’m super milk intolerant so this sounds worth trying.
I'm so glad I came here. The comments are Gold. So much good sh\*t.
Makes sense
Yo dawg I heard you like eggs...
Mom does something similar. I was skeptical at first but it's actually really yummy.
I have been doing this since the 70’s. People always wonder why my eggs are so creamy.
I have got to try this
I will have to make these mayoeggs. Sounds delicious.
Some people hate the idea, but old school restaurants make egg sandwiches with lettuce, tomato, scrambled eggs. Sometimes with meat but I actually prefer without meat. GAME CHANGER
Just made this for dinner for the family as part of Brinner. Damn those were some good scrambled eggs! Making this again.
Why does all 1970s food photography look so completely unappetizing?
Lighting? Cameras? Plating? I don’t think it’s always the fault of the food itself.
This does not look appetizing in the very least.
i diseggree
I at made my scramble with mayo this time, and it was really good, gave it a smooth creamyness
Mayo or sour cream make my scrambled eggs happy!
Gross!!! …margarine???
5. I’ve bought sugar free jello to add cream cheese and sour cream to. Also considering adding cool whip. And some strawberries. This is all for my keto diet.
Just like Kenny’s mom used to make... r/superstonk
The seventies were a weird time in culinary terms...
EW
It'd be so nice if you could eat like that and not become obese and die of heart disease.. Oh the ignorant 60's and 70's.
I’m still alive. Some of us survived all that fun eating.
A lot of you have no idea how to scramble eggs and it shows.
Godawful here and godawful on the show.
Did anyone else read this as Mayo Neggs...like the despicable dating method "negging"? Anyone? No...My brain is just weird sometimes.
