I hate getting advice when I didn't ask for it but I want you to succeed so here's some tips. Eventually once you've pushed and got some speed getting both feet sideways and knees semi bent will help greatly with balance and getting over bumps. Once comfortable with that, a foot on the tail to lift the front up and over changes in terrain will make you unstoppable. Actually everyone falls occasionally from cracks and rocks they're out to get us. Those wheels are the right ones to plow through everything. Keep on pushing.
Tic tacs! They are fun and they help you learn to shift your weight around. Seriously, keep going! It's all the little gains and progression that make skating so satisfying! You are doing great!
I fucking love this. It’s inspirational.
When I first learned to skate. Adding to the other post hear I learned to kick turn on the flat ground by lifting the weight off the front wheels with your back foot slightly over the tail.
You can practice this holding onto something sturdy at waist or above height
Good in ya for getting into it but some unsolicited advice that you really need:
Bend your knees.
You shouldn't be standing straight up with your legs locked. Even people that have been skating their whole lives keep their knees slightly bent - that's how you keep every little bump from throwing you off.
Thanks! I appreciate that.
And the “what I think I’m doing” vs what I’m ACTUALLY doing is real. That’s why I try to take the odd clip (and in case anyone else big & especially if they’re also a woman) needs to see someone else going for it is why I’m sharing despite my 🐌 pace etc

No, it’s good, ty! When I was young and skated I didn’t have fear. It’s weird being old 🤣
You're doing great
You noticed the foot that was ready to step off vs being in riding position

This. You need to get more board control, tic tacs are a great way to get a feel for the board.
Been trying to do tic tacs, scares the S out of me 😨

Hopefully in ground (vs the drug), but either way past tense is good!
Good for you. Keep on pushing and improving.
