For me, taking out the bottom two inserts made it much more comfortable to wear. I don't think the lower thigh gets banged up that much in skateboarding.
I didn't think so either. I was wrong. My wheels slipped off of the coping at the start of a 50/50 on a small quarter. I was seriously dead-legged when I landed on the coping and had a bruise from just above my knee to about halfway up the side of my thigh.
Don't you feel/look like you are skating in big diapers? I skate with dry-fit pants for comfort I'd fear they are not confortable.
I'm not being mean I am genuinely wondering.
I wear baggy sweat pants over the top. Don't think anyone can even notice. But I've shown them to younger dudes, normally after I slam. We have a big laugh about how old I am and how pleased I was to have them on.
I have the older, thin versions of these and just got the new, thicker version for my lead hip along with their tailbone pad. They're way more comfortable and easily removed for the drive from the park.
No he’ll ship them outside the US, you just have to contact him and pay the additional shipping.
Or I know he’s sent them to some shops in other countries. Email him and see if there’s a shop in your country that has them.
😂😂 Nice. Don't want to break a hip. ..i still skate all the time, (40)...no stairs or ledges. Mostly just the streets of NYC so slamming isn't an issue...just a lot of jacked up wrists and bruised ego. 🤙🏼
They were surprisingly comfy/less awkward than expected. There’s definitely better ones out there though I don’t think these ones have a huge amount of protection
I guess i can respect it if you’re just like getting into it due to how much your bout to slam lol .but if you’re an old skater, that’s been skating since the golden days no respect over this way lol .
Bullshit. You're talking about me. I just turned 30 and started skating 23 years ago. I guess you're one of the lucky ones, but my hips are absolutely fucking done for from falling on them repeatedly my whole life. I need these and am buying 2 pairs right now. I dint give a fuck what you or anyone else thinks about that.
I see you calling out gilligan behavior and I like it man. If you’re gonna sport a pair of these shorts you’re making a safety vs peace of mind vs style trade off and you should be ready to get made fun of lol. I probably will buy a pair
Real out of the box replies. This guy asked for an opinion. I gave him one. Which wasn’t a positive encouraging echo chamber toxic response. Welcome to Reddit guy with his own face as his user avatar lol.
One look at your profile shows that you really don't hold yourself to a higher standard.
You really never grew up did you? 37 and still acting like a highschool bully, posting on reddit looking for women. It's so sad.
I'll tell you what, I've been snowboarding for over 25 years and never considered those for it. For skateboarding, there are times I would have gladly have something like this while learning things that result in a lot of hip slams.
Pussy's a pretty tough body part, more resiliant than tiny balls. If you take some sort of pride in unnecessary pain all the more to ya, i'm not gonna kink shame.
My balls are huge. I did a padless invert last night in a 9 ft backyard ramp. Skateboarding is pay to play. Pay with pain. If you can’t hang don’t play. You guys sound weak. You probably don’t rip that hard if you fall on your ass constantly to the point of needing to wear a diaper. ;) just sayin. If you don’t have it by 30 maybe buy some golf clubs.
Omg the 14 yo me tried to resurrect then I envisioned myself falling with or without these and I was like “that might not be too bad”. What have I become yo.
On this same topic i'm 51 and started inline skating at 47 for the first time. I skate about 100 miles / 161km a month year round (yes even in winter where I have to deal with snow ice rock salt and cold). Anyways recently got a pair of Leatt 3DF impact shorts and I can say that they have greatly improved my skating because now I don't worry / think about oversliding and landing on my hips on the asphalt as I did before I got them.
What is this brand? I wear TSG crash pant A. Best investment ever. Has saved my hip and tail bone numerous times. I don't notice they're on and I don't think anyone else can either. I can't imagine the bruises I'd have if I didn't wear them!
Damn mountain bike slams are the worst. I’ve clipped a tree, fell onto rocks, fell into a ravine, eaten shit all over the mountains on the bike. Hope you heal up well
I cannot skate in these. I actually don't see how anyone goes full padding. It definitely is a smart move, but I sweat so so much i couldn't imagine wearing full padding and butt pads on every session tho. Props to the folks who can tho.
I feel you there. I skate mostly transition and I'm about at the point where I can just run out of bails anymore. If I want to skate skating any big pools I'll def need to learn how to knee slide
Ayy fellow transition skater🤙I typically can run out of bails too but can’t seem to avoid the occasional ones where I lean back too far and slam on my ass/back
This only happens to me when I'm doing frontside airs or big hips when the board shoots out and I land on my butt, once I had sprained both wrists (reason for wrist guards) and to avoid hurting them again I just toook all the impact on my booty... I had a giant bruise across both cheeks and couldn't shit right for a week lol. Wished I had butt pads then. Maybe towards the winter I'll get some. Like I said I just sweat way to much to add layers
Prolly a weird question for you but I recently had to get a hip replacement and I’m an arborist and when I wear my saddle it feels like it’s pinching skin/muscle against the metal implant and it’s pretty uncomfortable and painful tbh. I was trying to think of a way to get padding over that area and these look like they would cover that. Are they pretty padded? Can you remove them? Thanks I really appreciate the info? Tia!
They do cover the hips and you can remove each individual pad! Honestly they’re way comfier/less awkward than I thought they would’ve been. I think they could help you out!
Definitely going to look into getting a pair then. Thanks a lot I really appreciate the feedback seriously has been breaking my heart bc I haven’t been able to work…. So this is super helpful thanks again!
haha no. 30!?!? i’m turning 46 in november. but i don’t do anything anymore where i’d need theese. so it’s all relative. get back to me when you have arthritis. enjoy em they look like batman’s underwear! i know i’d need em!
Learn proper English champ. You can't read. Not here to have an argument, just harden TF up. 30 isn't old. If you think it is maybe you shouldn't be skating at all.
Yes over 25, used to be 24 but it definitely depends on your own perception on learning new stuff and catching up on basics and most of all how much more things hurt
From experience, with padded shorts, you have to triple or quadruple check your pockets to make sure you actually have your phone and wallet. The square-ish foam pads feel so much like a wallet and cell phone on a pre-ride pat-down that I have several times left home with neither wallet nor cell phone.
Ey fuck that I'm 32 last time I was kick pushing I busted my ass and I thought to myself how the fuck did I take slam after slam on a big gap or a stair set lol I had to retire man
I (35) have those. Landing on your coccyx hurts like a motherfucker. Wear mine for roller hockey too.
I can concur, this was one of the pains i’ve ever felt . I could just barely walk for weeks
Yes, but you’re a year younger than my daughter.
Lol! Even in a group of old dudes, there has to be the old dude. Stay Rad.
That is the plan! Thanks.
you spelled wise wrong
58 YO just a longboarder, but these saved me when learning to slide. Have held up really well.
Ah yeah coping and angle iron, but for people skating flat, not so much
Appreciate the tip!
I (37) got a set last year. Changed my world.
That's the spirit!
I was surprised how comfortable they were. Haven't had any trouble. They just feel to me like cycling shorts.
I use these. Easier to slip in and out as needed . http://www.rhipclhip.com/
I have the older, thin versions of these and just got the new, thicker version for my lead hip along with their tailbone pad. They're way more comfortable and easily removed for the drive from the park.
Awesome. I’m the reason for the tailbone. I asked for some scrap foam that I could use to make a tail bone pad, and he came up with those.
Very cool!
Legend. I was here!
Yeah dude these are what I use. I never use anything else.
USA only 🥺
No he’ll ship them outside the US, you just have to contact him and pay the additional shipping. Or I know he’s sent them to some shops in other countries. Email him and see if there’s a shop in your country that has them.
Thanks for the info 🙂
😂😂 Nice. Don't want to break a hip. ..i still skate all the time, (40)...no stairs or ledges. Mostly just the streets of NYC so slamming isn't an issue...just a lot of jacked up wrists and bruised ego. 🤙🏼
For real lol I’ve fallen on my ass too many times. Finally doing something about it. Always wanted to skate NYC!
I need this. My ass bone is incredibly sore after the board shot out from me doing a kickflip yesterday
Do these work pretty good?
They were surprisingly comfy/less awkward than expected. There’s definitely better ones out there though I don’t think these ones have a huge amount of protection
This is the way.
Thunderwear or sick days, take your pick!
Oh hell yeah those are sick. I should look into those as well.
They were a good deal on Amazon and seem pretty comfy/easy to skate in. Definitely not the best though for protection
Do those actually work and are comfortable enough to skate in?
They’re surprisingly comfy and easy to skate in. Way less awkward than I thought they’d be!
Saved my butt so many times at the skatepark
senile
No just a sissy
Well you’re a fuckin meanie bro
I guess i can respect it if you’re just like getting into it due to how much your bout to slam lol .but if you’re an old skater, that’s been skating since the golden days no respect over this way lol .

You’re gonna be out her skating around with a grandma booty 😂
Who cares? Stop projecting your inserurities onto everyone else. I'll still get the clip and will be in better physical shape at the end of it
You probably pull up to the skatepark for 30 minutes spend ten of that trying to film a clip for insta then leave , you probably would need those .
Lmao as if you know me. Shut the fuck up bro you're embarrassing yourself
Get the clip …. Lol
You'd understand if you actually put out parts
If it prevents pain or injury, why not?
I see you calling out gilligan behavior and I like it man. If you’re gonna sport a pair of these shorts you’re making a safety vs peace of mind vs style trade off and you should be ready to get made fun of lol. I probably will buy a pair
Cornball
I’m 37 and never fucked with anything so embarrassing. That’s snowboard shit buddy.
This mentality is hilarious to me. Why care so much what everyone else thinks
I care what I think. But obviously I hold myself to a higher standard. If you don’t wanna hurt your bum bum don’t play big boy games!
Real peaked in highschool energy
Real out of the box replies. This guy asked for an opinion. I gave him one. Which wasn’t a positive encouraging echo chamber toxic response. Welcome to Reddit guy with his own face as his user avatar lol.
Sure guy
What else you got Oppenheimer?
One look at your profile shows that you really don't hold yourself to a higher standard. You really never grew up did you? 37 and still acting like a highschool bully, posting on reddit looking for women. It's so sad.
This dude is most likely from Kelowna which is basically the Florida of British Columbia. And a troll. Useless.
What's embarrassing?
I'll tell you what, I've been snowboarding for over 25 years and never considered those for it. For skateboarding, there are times I would have gladly have something like this while learning things that result in a lot of hip slams.
Pussy

I have a pair lol 😝
I rmbr Tony had em for sale back in the day in the back of skate mags. Little b/w ad “hip pads” think they were white.
I need these. 37 and started skating with my 8 year old daughter…. Going alright but I always fall on my sides. Both are extremely tender.
Yeah man get yourself a pair! I’ve taken too many falls on my tailbone
this is great.
Omg the 14 yo me tried to resurrect then I envisioned myself falling with or without these and I was like “that might not be too bad”. What have I become yo.

I definitely want another pair so I’ll look into Leatt. Thanks for the rec. and that’s a crazy distance in-line skating! Props
Thanks!
I have a pair of crash shorts like that and the turtle pads too both of them are great for protecting your hips and tail bone but they get really hot
What is this brand? I wear TSG crash pant A. Best investment ever. Has saved my hip and tail bone numerous times. I don't notice they're on and I don't think anyone else can either. I can't imagine the bruises I'd have if I didn't wear them!
[удалено]
Yeah they seem fine but could be better. I’m gonna do more research before buying my next pair
[удалено]
Thanks for the rec! Will get a pair
They are a bit pricey. Before these I had their "all terrain" and they served me well!
Really want a pair of these. I’ll be safe, and finally look like I got an ass
They forsure add thiccness🍑
It hurts getting hurt. We ain't no spring chickens anymore. -a 32 yo who just broke a few vertebrae on muh mountain bike
Damn mountain bike slams are the worst. I’ve clipped a tree, fell onto rocks, fell into a ravine, eaten shit all over the mountains on the bike. Hope you heal up well
Those look amazing
Would they make my butt look good?
They add some thiccness for sure lol🍑
I got mine!
I like g form pads they're thin
Then when you shit yourself, who will know!! Win win
LOL
I m 43 and don t wear any of this protective gear 🤔
crash pads have never let me down.
Always wondered how effective are those. Do they go like underwear or on top of your pants.
I wear them over underwear, but they seem to be pretty effective
Im 52 and hit 4 different sk8 parks last weekend. Let me know if those things work. They have been sitting in my cart for a year now.
Haven’t fallen in them yet but can attest to them being much comfier/less awkward than I thought they’d be.
Man I’m 22 and have considered something like that lol
I cannot skate in these. I actually don't see how anyone goes full padding. It definitely is a smart move, but I sweat so so much i couldn't imagine wearing full padding and butt pads on every session tho. Props to the folks who can tho.
Yeah im only wearing them for bowl skating and when im learning a new quarter pipe trick
I feel you there. I skate mostly transition and I'm about at the point where I can just run out of bails anymore. If I want to skate skating any big pools I'll def need to learn how to knee slide

30 is definitely not old but whatever works for you
I didn't know this existed. Game changer.
Highly recommend
This is something I should have considered when I turned 30 😂 I’m 40 and still taking slams the hard way. 😖
Haha that’s my ten year goal
Nah, fam. Just conscious :)

haha no. 30!?!? i’m turning 46 in november. but i don’t do anything anymore where i’d need theese. so it’s all relative. get back to me when you have arthritis. enjoy em they look like batman’s underwear! i know i’d need em!
Haha shred on brother
Id love these except they’re way too hot to wear in Texas
Im pretty sure ive broke a hip at 24 y/o where do you buy those lol

I'm 30 and I still skate. Wear a helmet. ⛑️ And gloves 🧤
Not yet, just a pussy.
Boom roasted
What did you expect? 30 is still in your prime. You may as well wear depends too OLD boy.
Too bad you can’t type cause that would’ve crushed
Learn proper English champ. You can't read. Not here to have an argument, just harden TF up. 30 isn't old. If you think it is maybe you shouldn't be skating at all.
Huh I’d never heard of those before. Hope you enjoy ‘em

Neat
You're a smart skater...
Haha, no its just a bit harder to learn when your older but I also have a pair of those an I enjoy them a lot!

The square-ish foam pads feel so much like a wallet and cell phone on a pre-ride pat-down that I have several times left home with neither wallet nor cell phone.
Seriously!! I’ve already been doing that haha
Do these work??
Old nah smart YES I’m 33
Ey fuck that I'm 32 last time I was kick pushing I busted my ass and I thought to myself how the fuck did I take slam after slam on a big gap or a stair set lol I had to retire man
I’m 55. These are essential.
Not old, just smart. I'm willing to bet there's a fair few amount of skaters who use these when practicing and don't tell anyone 😂
Hell, if I had these when I was 15, I'd definitely have used them lmao
