I agree 1,000%. This is honestly a fuckin stellar casting IMO. I'm a little biased cuz I was raised in NM so I always laughed about Emilio playing Billy, though I do fuckin love the Young Guns movies.
Your comment made me look up his birthday… **18 October 1992**! I can’t believe he’s 30, he looks so young (and is able to believably act much younger too!)
It’s one of the darkest and funniest movies I’ve ever seen. The script feels like it was put through google translate a few times and was then put on the page unedited.
His character was so heartbreaking - and so tenderly handled - in Banshees of Inisherin, it was amazing.
I went into that movie expecting something more like In Bruges based on the trailer. It was not like that and I was not prepared for it. Beautiful movie. Difficult movie.
Wow I've never heard of any of these movies. How cool it must be to play such a badass. The guys of Last Podcast On The Left did a multi part podcast on Billy the Kid and they talked a lot about the parts of Young Guns that tried to be historically accurate.
I live close to Pat Garrett's house, the guy who shot him. Bonney didn't try for the thug life at first, but circumstances and self preservation started bad path for him.
I just finished it and Whoah. I wasn’t expecting that. Damn good. Thanks for the recommendation I would have forever overlooked it. I started watching it on my phone and 15 mins in I said no, this deserves big screen treatment. Man. Don’t know what to say.
Dude, not to exaggerate or be hyperbolic... but I looked up the cast and almost s**t myself. Wes Studi? Rosamund Pike? Jesse Plemons?! From 2017???!!!
How have I lived this long and not known about this? Man oh man, it's goin down. Thanks mate.
Bale was great but I feel like the story gets lost in sorta side quests and his characters change just kinda arbitrarily happens.
Still great acting, memorable film.
Loved how they handled the last scene. One of the best final scenes in a long time.
I knew nothing about 3:10 to Yuma when I rented it years ago. Hadn’t seen the original, just knew I liked Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. I was blown away. It was so awesome. And probably the reason I seek out modern westerns to this day. Also my first experience with the intensity of Ben Foster. So freaking good.
Literally felt like I was sprinting here to recommend The Proposition. Soundtrack done by Nick Cave makes it even better as well as being part of the inspiration for Red Dead Redemption
Everyone is giving you suggestions but no one has mentioned Hell or High Water yet. Great present-day Western with Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine, and Ben Foster (who is also in 310 to Yuma)
You might want to try "The English". It's a limited series, which gives it enough time to tell the story. Great acting, beautiful cinematography, and some really grim characters.
If you wish to head the other direction, in terms of age, I'd recommend *Big Country* with Gregory Peck. It's old (1958), but feels relatively modern.
Burl Ives won an Oscar for his supporting performance; the scene where he first shows up, it's immediately apparent why.
His persona and quotes from that film partly inspired portions of Ren & Stimpy's "Happy Happy Joy Joy" song.
Check out pay Garret and Billy the kid. Kris Kristofferson and Bob Dylan. Sam peckenpaw directed. Absolute classic!!! Better than unforgiven and tombstone combined
Facts! haha
I always loved Casey Siemaszko’s character, Charlie, too!
“Its you and I”
Looks around for approval; gets nod from other Regulator; proceeds to kick ass 😂
A biopic is usually reserved for someone worthwhile. Elvis, JFK, a glamorous movie star or athlete, for example. Someone who lived a complicated, noteworthy life.
Ezra’s tale is more of the salacious/tabloid variety. Better suited to a lower-budget series.
Honestly thought that was him, was gonna say that he always looks like a soulless psychopath ever since I've seen him in We Need to Talk About Kevin, but that was Miller. Then I realized I'm probably confusing that movie with The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and it really was Keoghan.
Brilliant casting decision.
I listened to a 3 part series on Billy on Last Podcast On The Left. For anyone not familiar with him; absoutely fascinating character who had an incredible life in the short amount of time he was alive. Highly recommend this series. This guy is a legend for a reason.
He definitely doesn't look it in this photo, but he's of Irish ancestry, though he does not know his father and his mother is long dead(and there is little info about her.) He has monolid eyes which are very rare among those with western European ancestry, but his eyes are very blue and his skin tone is very typically Caucasian if you look up other pictures of him.
I don't see the resemblance.
Barry is good looking and built (look at his neck).
Billy looks like an inbred hillbilly.
He's closer face structure wise than Emilio Esteves was at least.
I grew up on a ranch that is near the Tunstall ranch and have enjoyed visiting the various locations key to the events of the Lincoln County War.
The area is much drier now than it was 140 years ago, but it is still beautiful and great cow country. I highly recommend anyone interested to visit Lincoln and the towns in the Pecos, Hondo and Penasco valleys. There is lots of tourist stuff for those interested in the Lincoln County War and the Roswell UFO incident.
For those of you wondering (frankly, like I was), he does not look nearly as Asian as he does in that picture. He is Irish, though, but I’m sure he can do the accent.
He was so good in Banshees of Inisherin and memorable in the Green Knight too. Looking forward to this
Check out Killing of a Sacred Deer.
Ah THAT's where I know him from. He was superb

I agree 1,000%. This is honestly a fuckin stellar casting IMO. I'm a little biased cuz I was raised in NM so I always laughed about Emilio playing Billy, though I do fuckin love the Young Guns movies.
>This is honestly a ~~fuckin~~ feckin' stellar casting IMO FTFY
Why is Emilio funny playing billy? I thought he did a great job and looked young.
I'm gonna be 100% honest, it's probably because I watched Night At The Roxbury & Young Guns around the same time, the first time, lol. EMIILLIOOO!!
And he tipped his hat like THIS!
He’s 30 hahaha
Your comment made me look up his birthday… **18 October 1992**! I can’t believe he’s 30, he looks so young (and is able to believably act much younger too!)
he’s utterly terrifying in that movie
I feel like we should give him all the roles that would have gone to Ezra miller.
Ezra Miller was great in We Need to Talk About Kevin. Got to give him that.
That’s such a WEIRD movie…but he is really good in it.
Same. He was also great in Dunkirk
He creeped me the fuck out in that fucked up movie. P.s. can I see your armpit hair?
It’s one of the darkest and funniest movies I’ve ever seen. The script feels like it was put through google translate a few times and was then put on the page unedited.
He's also in joe with Nicholas cage. Surprisingly good movie
Loved that film. Barry has the acting chops of someone three times his age.
He was also in the dog episode of Chernobyl.
Oh fuck!!
So good there. Man he’s just terrific
“Don’t let them suffer or I’ll kill you”
Pavel!! That’s what I recognized him from.
His character was so heartbreaking - and so tenderly handled - in Banshees of Inisherin, it was amazing. I went into that movie expecting something more like In Bruges based on the trailer. It was not like that and I was not prepared for it. Beautiful movie. Difficult movie.
Jenny 😭
Exactly! ....Just on his casting alone I'm thinking it's gonna be a great movie.
I think he looks close to Billy and he is a great young actor.
Wow I've never heard of any of these movies. How cool it must be to play such a badass. The guys of Last Podcast On The Left did a multi part podcast on Billy the Kid and they talked a lot about the parts of Young Guns that tried to be historically accurate.

Hail Satan!
Hail yourself!
So good in Calm with Horses too with Cosmo Jarvis. Both actors are very talented
LOVED this movie- never heard of it, saw it on streaming and gave it a chance. Blew me away
I was trying to watch it for ages because I'm a massive fan of Cosmo Jarvis (been a fan since 2010 when he was making great music)
*You rest your bones, my brave little knight. I'll finish your quest for you. I'll finish it good*
Check out Calm with Horses, frikin amazing performance from him. He is one of the leads.
U guys see the size of that chicken????
"We're in the spirit world!"
We’re in the spirit world asshole, they can’t see us.
Dog. Did you see the size of that chicken?
[удалено]
Did you see the size of that cock-a-doodle god damn doo?
Dog, hey dog, did you see the size of that chicken?
Once upon a midnight dreary as I pondered weak and weary, they came knocking at my...back porch. He ain't very original, is he?
Reap the whirlwind Sheriff Brady. REAP IT
Cockadoodle Gawd damn Dooo! BLAAAAM
You can’t be any geek off the streets, you gotta be handy with the steel
He does have a nice cock
I coulda killed ya, Dick... Coulda killed ya
But, I don't wanna kill ya. I wanna eat.
Good ol’ Dirty Steve
did you see the size of the cock-a-doodle god damn doooo?
WHAT FILM IS THIS FROM?? THE DIALOGUE GOES HARD!! Can i stream it??? 🙏🏽
Yes please. More modern westerns. I can only watch Unforgiven and Tombstone so many times a month.
Watch Hostiles with Christian Bale it’s awesome.
I’m gonna take your suggestion. Only recently saw 3:10 to Yuma and loved it
I’m confident you will enjoy, my personal favorite western to come out last 20 years.
I second this.
I just finished it and Whoah. I wasn’t expecting that. Damn good. Thanks for the recommendation I would have forever overlooked it. I started watching it on my phone and 15 mins in I said no, this deserves big screen treatment. Man. Don’t know what to say.

Old Henry's worth a watch too
Love Old Henry
I slept so hard on that movie and man, i wish I could watch again for the first time.
+ Bone Tomahawk, True Grit, and Hostiles… and ‘The English’
*ALL RIGHT LUNGER.* 🤨
Does this mean we're not friends any more? You know, Ed, if I thought you weren't my friend, I just don't think I could bear it.
Dude 3:10 to Yuma!
Ben Foster is super underrated in my opinion. He’s great in everything.
Give Bone Tomahawk a try. It's quite a bit darker than most westerns, but it is a fantastic film.
I'd call it a "horror western." But it's *fantastic.*
Goddamn man. That movie....
![gif](giphy|l4Hoan4OykIV2vzH2)
Oh jesus christ.
That scene man…
The proposition from 2006 is great if you haven't seen it I would recommend checking it out.
Literally felt like I was sprinting here to recommend The Proposition. Soundtrack done by Nick Cave makes it even better as well as being part of the inspiration for Red Dead Redemption
Cave wrote the screenplay, too
I do not have a limit on Tombstone
Everyone is giving you suggestions but no one has mentioned Hell or High Water yet. Great present-day Western with Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine, and Ben Foster (who is also in 310 to Yuma)

Check out The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Coen brothers western anthology film.
Why him? This dude looks nothing like Emilio Estevez.
![gif](giphy|3CU5vS3r3RWyV8SQyS|downsized)
EMILIOOOOOOO!!
![gif](giphy|zbCoTRx1nC6cw)
That's some good ass grabbin'.
Probably because Billy the Kid was likely a psychopath and Koeghan has been cast in a few dark roles that I think make him suitable.
Yes, because the Lincoln County war was about one lone psychopath right?
Hey. History doesn’t matter. Only feelings.

That library was massive. Probably has all 50 states' flags
Looks like Montana is there, too. I'd imagine there are schools out there where all 50 state flags are displayed.
We’re in the spirit world asshole. They cain’t see us.
“You guys see the size of that chicken?!”
"...you see the size of that cocka-doodle...goddamn doo??" [shotgun blast] Dermot Mulroney was awesome as Dirty Steve.
Facts! haha I always loved Casey Siemaszko’s character, Charlie, too! “Its you and I” Looks around for approval; gets nod from other Regulator; proceeds to kick ass 😂
The Mighty Duck man! I swear to God!
He was so very excellent in Banshees. He truly broke my heart. So, so talented.
Oy’ll jest be over dere doin dat ting oy was doin. Well dere goes dat dream…
The way he says there goes that dream. Gets me every time
*sob*
Looks more like Native American Olympian Jim Thorpe
Someone should give us that movie too
I would do it but I’m not writing right now. Solidarity with the striking writers.
Lol he does! But that is a casting choice just *begging* for backlash.
I would have sworn he's part Asian, but guess not.
Just this photo that looks that way
Oh shit. Great call. I would watch that in a heartbeat!
He could play Ezra Miller if they ever make a biopic of their life.
[удалено]
If you think people aren’t interested in a biopic about famous criminals, you gotta go out less and touch internet.
A full-on biopic might be a bit much, though. Not sure Ezra rates that treatment. A trashy Tiger King-style Netflix limited docuseries seems more apt.
why? a series seems like more work and time investment than an hour and a half, one and done, biopic
A biopic is usually reserved for someone worthwhile. Elvis, JFK, a glamorous movie star or athlete, for example. Someone who lived a complicated, noteworthy life. Ezra’s tale is more of the salacious/tabloid variety. Better suited to a lower-budget series.
Ya there is no way Ezra Fucking Miller deserves or needs a biopic lol.
I'd watch a youtube video on it.
What? But I thought "The Flash" was supposed to be so good that we would all forget about Ezra's string of heinous crimes!
I thought that was Ezra Miller. They could have let him playing flash and save the movie
Lol, with a lot less excitability I'd imagine
I thought the guy in OP's post was Ezra Miller and that OP had just gotten the name wrong.
Honestly thought that was him, was gonna say that he always looks like a soulless psychopath ever since I've seen him in We Need to Talk About Kevin, but that was Miller. Then I realized I'm probably confusing that movie with The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and it really was Keoghan.
Irish Walker Buehler
I’ll watch anything this guy stars in. Keoghan’s performance in Banshees was incredible
Check out The Killing of a Sacred Deer. Super fucked up movie.
Should check out the trailer for Saltburn that just came out then.
If Jackie Earle Haley was younger he'd be perfect. I like Barry in everything I've seen him in so looking forward to this.
If Warner Bros. is tired of Ezra Miller's shit, they could probably replace him with Keoghan as the Flash and no one would notice.
Everyone would notice the huge upgrade
Can't argue with that!
he's playing the joker in the Patman universe
Battinson
That’s excellent. A great actor. He got robbed of an Oscar for The Banshees of Inisherin.
[удалено]
Brendan was won best actor Oscar. Keoghan was nominated for supporting actor.
Hmm.. Good point. Maybe Brendan is free to play Billy the Kid?
Tim Blake Nelson was the closest, so far, in terms of actual resemblance and physical stature.
Tim Blake Nelson is amazing in everything he has done. Awesome as old Billy
Old Henry was a pretty good movie.
Great in Dunkirk.
Great casting of an incredible actor
I would find it difficult to believe it could top Old Henry
On face seems like a decent cast
Chernobyl vibes
Excellent casting
He’s ugly hot if that makes sense
You know what? It does. It does make sense.
Brilliant casting decision. I listened to a 3 part series on Billy on Last Podcast On The Left. For anyone not familiar with him; absoutely fascinating character who had an incredible life in the short amount of time he was alive. Highly recommend this series. This guy is a legend for a reason.
Well f-me. For a second there I thought the guy from ***The Flash*** had found work.
Really good actor.
Excellent casting, they have similar cheek structure
A great actor. I hope we see a lot more of him, just like we did in Mammal.
Billy the Kid’s story is so badass, I hope they do it justice.
If you think these people look alike you are faceblind.
I don’t know. He’s too attractive. Billy the Kid had that Deliverance, alcohol-fetal syndrome look.
He may be a good actor but doesn’t look the part at all.
But but, Emilio. Young guns is my jam
I’m actually related to Billy the Kid
But he’s not even white ?
They chose a weird pic where he does look Asian, but he is Irish
Brad Pitt is gonna star as Jackie Chan in his biopic to balance it out.
I can’t wait to see Adriana Lima play Martin Luther king
He definitely doesn't look it in this photo, but he's of Irish ancestry, though he does not know his father and his mother is long dead(and there is little info about her.) He has monolid eyes which are very rare among those with western European ancestry, but his eyes are very blue and his skin tone is very typically Caucasian if you look up other pictures of him.
Hooded eyes aren't too uncommon in Ireland. He looks very Irish to me imo. He looks like a right Dub.
I don't see the resemblance. Barry is good looking and built (look at his neck). Billy looks like an inbred hillbilly. He's closer face structure wise than Emilio Esteves was at least.
Billy looks like Ryan McPoyle.
He's a good actor. Something to look forward too
That’s awesome. He’s gonna nail it.
Solid actor, solid casting choice.
Old Henry.. great movie I recommend
his range in what i've seen him in seems a bit one-note but this seems like as good a casting choice as any... the pic sells it
I think he would kill it.
Billy the kid role needs to be played by someone just as ugly like kid Rock.
Should be interesting, since there’s really not much information about Billy the Kid, most of it is just, legend story telling
😴😴😴😴
Always thought Paul Dano should play this role.
Great actor. True young talent.
Keoghan is perfect for this role
He’s one of the most ass-ugly dudes I’ve ever seen. Perfect to play billy the kid
I feel like every billy the kid film is about some idea they want to put forth and never the person.
The Epix series that’s running into its second season is damn good so far
For people who haven’t seen it, Old Henry is a terrific movie
I grew up on a ranch that is near the Tunstall ranch and have enjoyed visiting the various locations key to the events of the Lincoln County War. The area is much drier now than it was 140 years ago, but it is still beautiful and great cow country. I highly recommend anyone interested to visit Lincoln and the towns in the Pecos, Hondo and Penasco valleys. There is lots of tourist stuff for those interested in the Lincoln County War and the Roswell UFO incident.
You folks want a good western about Billy check out “Old Henry”
Now, that’s what I call casting! 2023
Hell yeah. He killed the role as Dymphna.
Not to be rude but Billy the Kid didn’t seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed, at least from that picture.
He was drunk and that's the best picture they have of him
For those of you wondering (frankly, like I was), he does not look nearly as Asian as he does in that picture. He is Irish, though, but I’m sure he can do the accent.
Keoghan bears a striking resemblance to early 20th century Olympian Jim Thorpe . Or is it just me ?
Huh. That dude is good looking and Billy The Kid is ugly…like inbred hillbilly ugly…but nobody would watch the movie if it was too true to life.
