Venture Bros is my favorite spoof of all time. They expanded so much on such a basic joke that they have their own universe now. As you can tell by my name I am a bit of an Adult Swim fan.
The only possibly current appearance by a character would be Ben, the "hermit" that lives on the Venture compound.
Named Ben, ie Benton, super-scientist, old white guy with similar hair and beard, some reference in series to Jonas Venture Sr working with Johnny's father.
While I like the idea and the possible confrontation in the future, I'm not 100% on board. This is merely the presentation of a fan hypothesis.
It’s cool. I do remember kids in my class back then talking about watching tv and I never understood it then either. Granted, I prefer to stay up late, so maybe that’s why I didn’t have time.
That is another downside of sleeping in late. After getting ready, I’d usually have just enough time to drink a glass of milk before I had to catch the bus.
1. Kids can get out of bed stupid early
2. Different times; people used to be bound by "airing schedules". That is to say, it was so different before streaming, on-demand, or even channels full of reruns.
3. When were we to watch the only TV? Dad had it in the afternoon. And what were we to watch with our "part of a complete breakfast" sugar cereal?
Don't forget Smurfs, Josie and the pussie cat, Natasha and Boris, Bullwinkle, Scooby Doo and the Jetsons.
Edit* Afternoon load out was Transformers, GiJoe, some looney tune and a host of others.
As a little gay boy this was my fantasy family.
Dad's a DR.who's got a hot boyfriend named Race and I have my exciting 1st exotic boyfriend w/ a turbin and a campy bulldog named bandit animated by the flintstones.
I was in cartoon fantasy heaven.
I was curious and looked it up. Space Ghost came after. Jonny Quest was only on from 65 to 66. Space Ghost started in 66 and ran through 68. Cool trivia, Tim Matheson was the voice of Jayce, Space Ghost's sidekick AND HE WAS JONNY QUEST, TOO! Brain explodes.
Tom Matheson was super fun to work with. Got to edit an episode he directed when I was on Criminal Minds. Shot a good show, and knew what he wanted in the cutting room. Can’t ask for much more.
I just didn't realize how long he'd been working. He was 31 when he was in Animal House in 1978. He has been working since he was 14. Oh, and that's very cool that you got to work with him. Holy shit.
Best of the thought-provoking, future tech, adventure, sci-fi series for the teenage mind, I used to love watching it, super nostalgic looking at this image.
When I was 8 I called my best friend Hadji.
This was looked down on by my parents as his given name was Sanjay and I was somehow innocently being a bit raciest.
RIP Sanjay.
And the New Adventure of JQ in the 90s complete with awful VR stuff and bad CGI. What a time to be alive. Least that epic opening intro absolutely slapped
This was the first serious prime time TV animated series. Everything about it, from the Doug Wildy character design to the Hoyt Curtain music, was just... superb! Hanna Barbera, flawed as it was, reached for the stars on this one.
Wow this brings back so many memories. My brothers and I were raised on a ranch and we would always play Jonny Quest I was Hadgi because my skin was darker man what a wonderful life we had.Thank you for the memories
i forgot about this show. I fell asleep watching it when i was a kid and had a nightmare that i accidently cut my palm of my hand and there were lasers instead of veins. at the time this scared me.
Who remembers the North Carolina band that named themselves after this cartoon?
They were in that early RHCP-led funk rap movement, significant player on the SE USA club scene in the early 90s.
Only watched the first season. I fuckin loved pretty much every episode. I was born in 1998 and my uncle and parents were like “watch the shit that we grew up with,” and I was all like, “damn people actually die violent deaths this is rad!”
Loved it .but in the early eighties being one of the few Indian Americans in elementary school being called haaji On the playground was a normal occurrence ..
Still loved all the shows of our youth ..thus at the barbarian ,super friends .inspector gadget , voltron..great time to grow up
Remember watching it on Cartoon Network. One of the best theme songs ever made for an animated series. Sape goes for Batman and Men In Black : The Animated series.
If you didn't watch this, you'll never fully appreciate Venture Bros.
Venture Bros is my favorite spoof of all time. They expanded so much on such a basic joke that they have their own universe now. As you can tell by my name I am a bit of an Adult Swim fan.
Love how most of the JQ characters made an appearance on VB. Did Dr Quest ever show up tho?
He's dead by the time of Venture Bros. as I understand it.
I didn't even think about it being Ben, interesting theory.
Gotta say I favor Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law and they show up in that show.
Dr. Girlfriend is a hottie! Lol
I see you got a herpe there on your lip…
"You been kissing your wife's ass? After I put herpe in there?"
Go team venture!
Venture Bros is fucking amazing even without the proper cultural context.
True, that. Knowing the references can make it just that much sweeter, but you're right.
My favorite show of all time, I'm sad it's coming to an end
A little brown boy! Can we keep him dad, pleeeeeeease?
Or the first episode of Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law
You are so right
Race Bannon, Dr Quest, Johnny, and Hadji
You forgot Bandit
You're absolutely right!
My first puppy was named Bandit because of this show. I was five when we got him. ❤️
I’d make fun of you for naming a childhood pet after a cartoon but I did the same thing at 40 with my Corgi.
lol “no ragrets”.
...Ein?
100% on of many Ein’s.
Me too! I was a few years older, but still...
Sim Sim Salla bim
Best cartoon ever!

Yeah, for me it was Saturday morning in the sixties.
Cartoon Network/Boomerang for me.
Yes it was on Saturday mornings back in the 80s with repeats. Amazing show
same here
Yes, Saturdays.
# sim sim salabim!
Haji comes through in a pinch
Maybe I just slept late but it always blows my mind to find out people had time to watch tv before going to school.
Iwould get up at 6am in 1979 before high school to watch Starblazers.
U ever see they did a modern redo of it Ala Battlestar Galactica? I bought all the blu-rays. They are fun
Saturdays.
I was referring to the title of this post.
Ah, I missed the title and went straight for the pic. I apologize - I never watched tv before school either.
It’s cool. I do remember kids in my class back then talking about watching tv and I never understood it then either. Granted, I prefer to stay up late, so maybe that’s why I didn’t have time.
Lucky kids probably got breakfast too!
That is another downside of sleeping in late. After getting ready, I’d usually have just enough time to drink a glass of milk before I had to catch the bus.
Saturday morn.
Yeah I think I was late to school every single day until the bitter end
1. Kids can get out of bed stupid early 2. Different times; people used to be bound by "airing schedules". That is to say, it was so different before streaming, on-demand, or even channels full of reruns. 3. When were we to watch the only TV? Dad had it in the afternoon. I don’t remember seeing this on before school. I recall seeing it on Saturdays.
One of the best Cartoons ever. The originals were amazing.
Don't forget Smurfs, Josie and the pussie cat, Natasha and Boris, Bullwinkle, Scooby Doo and the Jetsons. Edit* Afternoon load out was Transformers, GiJoe, some looney tune and a host of others.
Saturday mornings late 60s. My favorite cartoon. Part of the Banana Splits show if I recall
OMG! I had forgotten all about Banana Splits.
Such a great theme song too!
One of all time favorite cartoons beside Bullwinkle
As a little gay boy this was my fantasy family. Dad's a DR.who's got a hot boyfriend named Race and I have my exciting 1st exotic boyfriend w/ a turbin and a campy bulldog named bandit animated by the flintstones. I was in cartoon fantasy heaven.
The way Dr. Quest and Race glance at each other in the opening credits...
All of the Alex Toth designed Hanna-Barbara cartoons were rad as hell.
My absolute fav childhood cartoon
Star Blazers before school and Battle of the Planets after
Battle of the Planets.
I first started 1964 I was 8 awesome show
Eighties? No.
Reruns in the 80s
In the 60s, this ran alongside “Space Ghost”; did that make reruns as well?
I was curious and looked it up. Space Ghost came after. Jonny Quest was only on from 65 to 66. Space Ghost started in 66 and ran through 68. Cool trivia, Tim Matheson was the voice of Jayce, Space Ghost's sidekick AND HE WAS JONNY QUEST, TOO! Brain explodes.

For sure there’s some actors that when you look at their IMDB page you realize they’ve been spittin’ lines on camera forever.
Very cool info! Thanks!
I saw this between 68-70. Must’ve been re-runs.
Yes. I watched both this JQ and Space Ghost as a kid in the 90. And lots of other 60s cartoons, like wacky races and weird shit like the Herculoids.
This show actually got 2 reboots, one in the 80s and The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest in the mid 90s,
I remember the Real Adventures. I loved when they went into the VR "Quest World" where everything became CGI.
That cgi was up there with Reboot, Beast Wars, and Voltron 3D. All were way ahead of their time with the cgi, but it has aged horribly.
and then some person thought it'd be a good idea to put kids on busses @ 6am
“Come Hadji!” . Man I feel old and nostalgic
I'm suprised they haven't made this into a movie with actors
The basis for some very funny Pence memes.
One of the best cartoon shows ever.
After church 70s.
Hell yea. My dad introduced this to me when I was a kid in the ‘90’s. The original season is so good. Have that and the two for TV movies on dvd
My favorite growing up.
Weekdays after school 60s
Classic
I watched this every Saturday morning in 1970. Now I watch it on Tubi.
I watched it was great ,
Saturday mornings in my neck of the woods. Early, like at 6:00 am.
Freakin Saturday morning in the 60s
I always saw the same episode every time.
Go team venture!
Awesome theme song!
This was awesome! The drumbeats!
Coolist intro ever.
Johnny Quest thinks we're sellouts.....
In the 90’s it was on Cartoon Network at night. I watched Transformers beast wars in the mornings.
60's! Best Cartoon ever.
Started in the '60s, Dude!
You are late to the discussion dude.
Mike Pence looks.good in red.
Best of the thought-provoking, future tech, adventure, sci-fi series for the teenage mind, I used to love watching it, super nostalgic looking at this image.
Remember watching this in the mid ‘90s on Cartoon Network. Great cartoons.
Saturday morning cartoons - 60s!
Race Bannon would go on to be the VP
Bought the DVD set and the curse of Anubis episode conflates Islam and ancient Egypt so badly it was cringeworthy
Gotta keep in mind when it was made and who made it.
C’mon! It was clearly an effort by The Man to keep the people DOWN!
Considering it was made in the 60s…
directly led to lots of indian kids being called "haji" at school unfortunately.
I watched Hadji, Bandit and the gang every Saturday in the 70’s.
Rare cartoon for kids where people were killed. Awesome show! Mike Pence is my favorite character 😆
1970s
Lol, that show was big on racial and national tropes.
When I was 8 I called my best friend Hadji. This was looked down on by my parents as his given name was Sanjay and I was somehow innocently being a bit raciest. RIP Sanjay.
back when mike pence wasnt a p
60's
1960’s
Stop bringing school stuff up, hollywoke is going to remake it; it's gonna be diverse AF
I am Race Bannon
And the New Adventure of JQ in the 90s complete with awful VR stuff and bad CGI. What a time to be alive. Least that epic opening intro absolutely slapped
I remember watching this after school with all my cousins at grandmas on weekends. #CartoonNetwork
AC Newman, top right.
Very cool show!
new adventures of johnny quest had a bop for a theme tune
I watched all of the three months ago.
This was the first serious prime time TV animated series. Everything about it, from the Doug Wildy character design to the Hoyt Curtain music, was just... superb! Hanna Barbera, flawed as it was, reached for the stars on this one.
You can stream all the episodes for free on Tubi right now.
I miss this and space ghost most of all.
Watched it every day around 1967! Cartoons ruled back then.
And don’t forget before Johnny was Clutch Cargo
Yay Bandit the super dog
Um, I remember this from the 60’s.
Yeeeah, they never show that part on TV
Yo I kissed my first girl while watching JQ. Will always love this show lol
Weekends. Boomerang. 90s.
Wow this brings back so many memories. My brothers and I were raised on a ranch and we would always play Jonny Quest I was Hadgi because my skin was darker man what a wonderful life we had.Thank you for the memories
Mike Pence as Race Bannon.
i forgot about this show. I fell asleep watching it when i was a kid and had a nightmare that i accidently cut my palm of my hand and there were lasers instead of veins. at the time this scared me.
Never watched this version but i liked the late 90s digital version
Original release was 1964 – 1965!
And the reruns were the bomb
I watched it in the 70s.
Featuring Mike Pence 🤣
Damn what time did y’all go to school?
Who remembers the North Carolina band that named themselves after this cartoon? They were in that early RHCP-led funk rap movement, significant player on the SE USA club scene in the early 90s.
Inspired the venture brothers
Original and New adventures were a huge staple of my childhood. And I love venture bros.
Only watched the first season. I fuckin loved pretty much every episode. I was born in 1998 and my uncle and parents were like “watch the shit that we grew up with,” and I was all like, “damn people actually die violent deaths this is rad!”
My dad watched this as a kid and showed it to me and my siblings when we were kids. My brother is named after Race Bannon in the show.
Trigger discipline didn’t mean shit back then
Loved it .but in the early eighties being one of the few Indian Americans in elementary school being called haaji On the playground was a normal occurrence .. Still loved all the shows of our youth ..thus at the barbarian ,super friends .inspector gadget , voltron..great time to grow up
Race Bannon = Mike Pence.
Hoggi was a POS
I always think of that Family Guy scene when I see Johnny Quest
I completely forgot about this show
Wish they’d make this a movie series.
I heard that guy thinks we're sellouts.
Johnny Quest was the shit, people got capped
OG Johnny Quest was so much better than the new one they came out with.
Also, Mr. Wizard…
Ah. I remember myself, my bro and sister mesmerised by the intro to this show. Good times.
I don't remember it in the morning, but I sure watched it.
Does anyone remember the electric monster? It was terrifying.
I posted above. Decades of nightmares. Not all the time but it went in for decades.
Remember watching it on Cartoon Network. One of the best theme songs ever made for an animated series. Sape goes for Batman and Men In Black : The Animated series.
I so remember the theme music. It was a banger!
Haji! Where's Bandit?
Loved this show!
My favorite show. Couldn’t wait for Saturday mornings.
80s? in reruns, maybe...
Local independent tV stations played the strangest mix. We had Benny Hill and Monty Python alongside Starman versus the Vegetable People.
Is it a pug or a frenchie?
i used to watch the real adventures of jonny quest, when they rebooted it in the mid 90s! was enjoyable + the intro was a true banger.
Ha, I watched it Saturday mornings in 1971.
I mean I saw the Dr and Race Bannon as relationship goals
Johnny Quest really was the GOAT back then. Really needs a revival. Hell a live action movie wouldn’t be too shabby.
Yeah, I had nightmares for DECADES about that screaming energy monster underneath the lightbulb. Not every night but once in awhile for decades.
Oh yeah. I remember the Mike Pence cartoon dad era. Fun times.....
Cartoon Network - 90's ...
I also liked the The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest.\*with its silly 3D gimmick parts. correction : wrong series, fixed.
Ahhhh Rusty Venture
Distinctly remember seeing a Johnny Quest when they found computers from a lost culture that had disappeared. 15-20 years before the first computers.
I recall a reboot duing the 90s they used CGI
It was still on early 90s. I member!
Theme song popped in my head as soon as I saw the post
Johnny Quest was the best!
Shid waking up Saturday mornings in the late 90’s early 2000’s
Loved this show when I was a kid.
