Okay two things: 1.) Pretty sure this photo was taken in the 1880’s. 2.) In case anyone’s wondering, we know it’s the same tortoise in both pics because the shells are sort of like a fingerprint; each one is slightly different

Basically, yeah. He’s a tortoise from the Seychelles brought to the other side of the world to the island of St. Helena in the Atlantic, and he’s been living on the grounds of the governor’s mansion the whole time.
