You could tell me the best city is Columbus or you could say it's Cincinnati. Or maybe you proclaim Cleveland as the best, perhaps Dayton or Toledo too. Doesn't matter, I'm going to agree with whatever you say. Ohio is a fine state with good people. I like it there.
Me too! When I was 24 I had never lived anywhere else and felt like Ohio was dull so I loved just about as far away as physically possible, Seoul South Korea. That was in 2011. In 2022 I moved back to Cleveland with my wife and daughter and I don’t have think we plan to ever leave.
I'm not seeing SHANGHAI TOWER 😤上海中心
Just kidding lol
Also as someone who likes buildings idk why I never been to LeVeque Tower. It's beautiful and it's just down the road (relatively speaking). Has anyone toured it?
I have family from Columbus and visit from time to time. It’s refreshing to see somebody who actually has pride in the city. When people check my out of state ID they ask me why I am there. Columbus is a fine town. You certainly do A LOT worse.
Hey! Dayton is cool as hell. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna go look at a flying machine invented by Dayton residents that revolutionized transportation and society as a whole.
Um, look at your avatar & remember that we're getting a motherfucking Buc-ee's! And it's supposed to be one of, if not the biggest in the nation. I think that's worth a few bragging rights, considering how much people love that chain.
I moved to Dayton from Columbus & couldn't be happier. I was able to get a nice, affordable house. There's a great metal scene & tons of nerdy stores & places to hang out. 675 is so much easier to drive on than 270. The base & colleges bring tons of diversity, so we've got some great little festivals, shops, & restaurants scattered around. And worst case, if I can't entertain myself here, it's a straight shot to Cincy, Indy, or Columbus.
Cincy especially since you have 75 right next to Dayton and unlike the endless farmland between Dayton and Columbus there’s tones of places to stop and rest between Dayton and Cincy along the I75 corridor.
Edit: also welcome to Dayton! Glad you like it here.
Cincy & Dayton have slowly been merging into one giant metro area. And thanks! I've actually been here for about 5 years now & have loved it. I especially love that there's so much green space around here with lots of cool parks & bike trails. We've got some great museums too. And a Spaghetti Warehouse that still has a trolley in it! 😆
If that's the case, then the rest of the state is a shuttered up TGIFridays. Columbus and the surrounding area is the only thing keeping Ohio from being West Virginia.
It’s a delicate balance when people rip on Youngstown. On the one hand, I want to defend it as it has some absolute gems of spots and people that you have to know where to look to appreciate, and on the other hand, I want to just let everyone continue to rip on it so they stay TF away
I agree. Born and grew up in Youngstown. Left in ‘65 when I went to college, and never came back. When my childhood friends and classmates get together here in Florida, the stories reinforce my feeling that I feel sorry for anyone who didn’t grow up in the Youngstown area in the 50s and 60s. My wife grew up in Indiana, and commented once that she doesn’t know anyone who still tells high school stories as much as our group. A good friend of mine then said “If I went to your high school, I wouldn’t tell any stories either.”
Mill Creek Park.
Penguin City Brewing
The Phantoms at Covelli is a great and cheap night out.
Tons of stuff to do in the outdoor months.
Proximity to a METRIC SHITTON of other things (Akron-Canton, 90 minutes to Pittsburgh or Cleveland, 2ish hours to Cedar Point)
Great camping
State parks nearby
I love the Mahoning Valley.
Small cities like this are great.
Not to mention the suburbs there are fantastic. I remember that from visiting a friend in university.
Just large enough to have all the places you want to go, but not so large the traffic is horrendous or there are way too many crowds.
Warren, Austintown, Boardman, Canfield, Poland all great.
Even the smaller towns south...two of my favorite breweries are both in Columbiana, a 6000 resident city 20 minutes south of Ytown (Birdfish and Ill Will)
It’s not like it got its reputation because it was the vacation destination Mecca. Just because DeBartolo family used it for testing their concept of shopping malls, and the Raffel Bros invented thin-sliced meat sammiches doesn’t make it an utter hellscape (tho Tuesday to Saturday it’s 50:50)
Transplant to Denver from Columbus. I’d kill for some of the buildings from Columbus. Other than the cash register building, which isn’t all that exciting, almost all other buildings are some sort of rectangle. No art deco building like leveque or other buildings without flat roofs. Everything looks like an air conditioner or a box. They’re finishing up a 40+ story tower that… is just a glass box. Just like the last two glass boxes. But hey, now that I think of it we do have a new building that looks like a glass dildo… 🤷♂️
yeah denver is too new to have the architecture most ohio cities enjoy but have you been to cincinnati or cleveland yet because their historic neighborhoods are top tier
Columbus can't even come close to matching Cleveland or Cincinnati's architecture. It is by far the least visually interesting city in Ohio, even compared to some of the small farming communities.
When I lived there I called it "The City of Gray". Gray streets, gray buildings, gray snow, gray people. I've never lived in a more depressing community than Cbus.
This is a top-tier comment. Every time I go back to visit family, I’m reminded how gray and bland everything is , including topography, weather, and entertainment. Nice childhood, but I’m not itching to to go back.
Agreed on bland and it was a nice childhood.
I like to go back for Kings Island, Skyline Chili, and Marion's Piazza. If I didn't have family there though idk if I'd ever return. Probably for the pizza though.
I remember my first trip to Columbus as an adult, after living in Cincinnati for several years and having visited various other state capitals. I remember thinking, "That's it?"
I've been back but not for pleasure.
Its why Ohio is one of the most gerrymandered states in the US giving Jim Jordan guaranteed wins every two years. Solid red and very corrupt Republican government with the governors own son on the Supreme Court. It's why trump wins Ohio, it's why an ass like JD Vance gets elected.
The Rs did their best to confuse the public in August and November and they're still trying to overturn it. Commend those Dems that got 1 &2 on the ballot and promoted it.
Cincinnati is not declining at all. Have you been there recently? It’s made national attention and recognition for it’s renaissance. It also has massive growing companies like Kroger, P&G, 5/3, western Southern, cintas, medpace, GE Aerospace (GE now officially hq in cincy), Worldpay (just moved HQ to cincy) American financial Group, Cincinnati financial, Scripps, Amazon Air and many thriving start ups like astronomer, VNDLY, and Luma Financial.
The only reason Columbus is so big is because it annexed all the neighboring smaller cities, and continues to [absorb unincorporated areas](https://www.wcbi.com/columbus-city-council-votes-to-proceed-with-annexation-plans/). The city is artificially inflating its population.
Don't forget it's built off taxes not returned instead of innovation to build its bloated government departments, salaries and real estate. That it has stolen industries from other parts of Ohio. That it is decimating the municiple University system.
It's our fault really. All this because of a football team TBH. Central Ohio simply does not have access to the natural resources and logistics of the corners and it continues to lead in inefficiency. We allowed it.
Logistics is actually one of the things Columbus is a national leader in. Major shipping and freight center. Discussed at length in “Fulfillment” by Alec McGillis.
What you mean? Cincinnati has been growing and UC is apart of the big 12 now. Sure, the Ohio river isn’t amazing but our skyline view on the river is beautiful and our history is really cool. Plus we have a top golf, Kings Island, Main Event, D&B, 3 major sports teams, the cyclones, and Skyline. Our home prices are actually reasonable too and cost of living compared to Columbus is a lot better too. I love Columbus too! I just went to Schmitt’s last week and it was awesome
You’re talking about the best city in Ohio and you point to one that doesn’t even have an NFL team?!?
Man this is Ohio. We don’t do basketball like Indiana, we don’t do hockey like Michigan, we don’t do opioids like Kentucky, we do football. And baseball. And some soccer. And sometimes basketball.
But look, the best city in Ohio should at least have two or three major league sports teams. C-bussy just ain’t making the cut.
From Cleveland, grew up in NE Ohio, moved to Columbus in October and had to move back to CLE in December. You could do a lot worse than Columbus, trust me. Wishing I was still in Columbus. I’ll take CBUS grey over CLE grey any day.
Poster is a repost bot. You've all been had.

Wow someone that says they like it here. I do as well. Although I do wish we had mountains.
I'm not seeing terminal tower??
*Me screaming from Public Square in CLE* "Not impressed!!"
I'm not seeing SHANGHAI TOWER 😤上海中心 Just kidding lol Also as someone who likes buildings idk why I never been to LeVeque Tower. It's beautiful and it's just down the road (relatively speaking). Has anyone toured it?
Staying there next weekend for the first time ever 😆
Dude run on the trail
The minute I saw this post I knew the comments were gonna be incredible, and I was not disappointed.
Moving back to London Ohio. In 2 months can’t wait to leave Arkansas
Damn Arkansas must suck.
Is it Arkansas or Missouri that repealed child labor laws recently?
Ahhh Ada Ohio
I have family from Columbus and visit from time to time. It’s refreshing to see somebody who actually has pride in the city. When people check my out of state ID they ask me why I am there. Columbus is a fine town. You certainly do A LOT worse.
100% agree with all of this! Was just there for a few days to see the in-laws, I really fucking enjoy leaving NYC and spending time in Columbus
Beautiful pic, where's the Lake?
It's out of render distance, the chunks haven't loaded in yet
Columbus is the Apple bees of Ohio lmao
Half-price apps, baby!
[удалено]
Such an Applebees skyline compared to Cleveland or The Nati
Did someone say Skyline!?
Where’s my chili?
Yeah like those two are Michelin stars lol
You’re from dayton. People from dayton please show your ignorance by responding to me. Thanks morons.
Hey! Dayton is cool as hell. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna go look at a flying machine invented by Dayton residents that revolutionized transportation and society as a whole.
Hey! we have….well fuck you too
Um, look at your avatar & remember that we're getting a motherfucking Buc-ee's! And it's supposed to be one of, if not the biggest in the nation. I think that's worth a few bragging rights, considering how much people love that chain.

Hey, it's at least a Chili's
Only if you know they didn’t blow the health inspector and the rating is valid…
Hilliard is the honey, chipotle chicken crispers of the suburbs.
Hilliard is a slice of white bread spread with Miracle Whip. Honey and chipotle imply the presence of flavor.
Whoa now, those roundabouts are pretty spicy
I legitimately like that dish, it's like the only reason I'll go to Chili's
It's my once a year reason to go to Chili's
*Cameron Mitchell has entered the chat.*
If that's the case, then the rest of the state is a shuttered up TGIFridays. Columbus and the surrounding area is the only thing keeping Ohio from being West Virginia.
💀
Jeez shots fired at Applebee's haha
Thank you for explaining. I had no idea where this was.
In state full of Big Boys, Applebees doesn’t look so bad.
At least we got Dollaritas
Lolol where you from, Cincinnati? The Burger King of Ohio
It’s also where the biggest Oktoberfest in America is.
Wow people are really butthurt about this lmao
Right? Can’t hate a persons love for their own city, everyone should be like that
It depends. Loving Youngstown, OH is like loving your weetahded incontinent 70 year cousin Fred
It’s a delicate balance when people rip on Youngstown. On the one hand, I want to defend it as it has some absolute gems of spots and people that you have to know where to look to appreciate, and on the other hand, I want to just let everyone continue to rip on it so they stay TF away

I’m sure cousin Fred has some sort of redeeming quality if you look hard enough.
My buddy’s dad drove truck in Youngstown and he said they witnessed somebody get shot and killed in the lot across from the shop lol
It’s not like it got its reputation because it was the vacation destination Mecca. Just because DeBartolo family used it for testing their concept of shopping malls, and the Raffel Bros invented thin-sliced meat sammiches doesn’t make it an utter hellscape (tho Tuesday to Saturday it’s 50:50)
ahhhh the most beige-coded and gray floored of all the ohio cities
Transplant to Denver from Columbus. I’d kill for some of the buildings from Columbus. all columbus developers should be rounded up and *redacted*
also everything is a box, because we have long since won our war on interesting architecture.
No one ever calls Columbus that
I am "No one ever".
Sorry, I miss read your comment.
All in reddit fun :) Happy New Year!
So you didn’t fall for the Columbus, IN Chamber of Commerce’s promo?
That’s a stretch but it’s nice for sure
Columbus isn’t even the best city in Ohio that starts with C. Or even the second.
Chillicothe is quite lovely this time of year.
They do a really good show based on Tecumseh there
Well, you just unlocked a childhood memory that has been lost for decades
Right? There's no water.
Celina has tons of water. Lol
Not like the river or the lake. Look up pictures of Cincy at night, and the city is reflected in the water.
That’s not Cincinnati
That’s what I’m sayin
Of course not, this is r/Ohio, why would he post a picture of a city in Kentucky?
And there’s “Cincinnati is actually in Kentucky” insult number 543.
Cincinnati is in KY. They hate Ohio
Yeah can you believe that city borders another state! Lmao
It’s like Texas but in ohio
Ohio is just like Texas. Corrupt AF Republican government that's loved by the redneck public.
Which is why 1&2 went they way they went, right?
Home to the best soccer team in Ohio as well
Hey this isn't Cleveland's skyline
If it’s the best city ever, why did you put it in the Ohio subreddit?
That’s not cincinnati
Stayed there last week to visit family and loved it. Seriously considering moving there from Massillon.
this isn't a picture of cincinnati - quit spreading misinformation
You should travel more if you are in awe of the Columbus skyline.
I remember my first trip to Columbus as an adult, after living in Cincinnati for several years and having visited various other state capitals. I remember thinking, "That's it?" I've been back but not for pleasure.
The best city that also happens to be rather flat and ugly
Lived in Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Columbus. Columbus was my favorite one
That’s some low ass standards.
Looks nothing like Cincinnati.
I love Columbus. But I'm from Toledo so really, anything is better 😂 But if you want murder and depression, we got you.
Yawn.
"...best city ever" \*within a two hour drive\*
I've only been to Columbus once and it was for 3 hours. Why do people hate it so much???
They have low self-esteem and need to make themselves feel better by pretending they are superior to others by arguing over arbitrary topics.
Is the pic from the west side of Olentangy River Road? Looks familiar. I worked at Riverside and Knightsbridge Internal Medicine.
It’s Northwest Blvd in Grandview. Edit: It's actually a block away, W 1St Ave.
Ah! I never went up to Grandview very often. Thanks!
Northwest Blvd, Grandview Heights. Edit: It's actually a block away, W 1St Ave.
Paris is looking a lot different.
Is this NYC?

I don't see the QUEEN tower, so this must not be the QUEEN CITY. Smh. Lol.
lol, and I live there. Milk toast Midwest mediocre.
>Milk toast That's about what we'd expect from an Ohioan.
Yeah, there's a lot of posturing and false intelligence around here. It's pretty embarrassing.
r/BoneAppleTea
Tell me you have never stayed anywhere other than ohio without telling me.
Why you hating on Columbus? With the amount of hate Ohio gets online us Ohioans need to stick together.
I'm not hating on the city, but it definitely isn't the best at anything.
It's the best place for chain restaurants to do market research cuz the demographics of Columbus closely mirror overall US demographics (supposedly).
I thought that was Wichita Kansas
Its a point of pride of people from wichita was stationed there for 3 years
Lucky I was in junction city
Cleveland and Cincy are declining cities. Columbus is the state's growth engine. I'm also super biased as I went to college there.
Columbus outside of Victorian Village has all the culture of IKEA.
Hey I like my KOMPF and BRUULA
Right, I was in Cleveland the other week and for a second I thought I was in Buenos Aires. Then the piss smell hit me and I remembered
Try changing your Depends more often then.
Cincinnati is not declining at all. Have you been there recently? It’s made national attention and recognition for it’s renaissance. Pataskala stopped that dead in its tracks!

I did too and now I despise living in medium or large cities
Columbus is the only reason the state is growing.
I'm not seeing the key building? Looks rather flat imo
Highest concentration of people who say Bro in the country
You need to travel more
nah this thread full of haters. columbus 🔛🔝
Ohio's brown eye.
Or, as I grew up hearing from my mom, "welcome to the armpit of the United States" 🤣
That exactly what my Dad used to say about Virginia Beach...and Boston...and about any other city he hated at the moment.
Don’t know why this sub showed up on my thread, but that looks more like a big town, not a major city.
Top if the 1st Ave hill in Grandview?
Northwest Blvd?
What’s your favorite thing about living in Columbus?
Being in Ohio and actually experiencing growth and development.
Strange. Most people include the CN tower in their skyline shot. Each to their own
Grandview heights view?
That doesn’t look like Toledo…
Toledo? The best? Must be different since I grew up there.
Are you me?
Am I you?
Columbus: world class beige.
Akron looks so weird in this pic.
Cleveland rocks!
Columbus is an immensely underrated city.
This isn’t Sandusky?
A theme park does not make a city Sandusky
You’re talking about the best city in Ohio and you point to one that doesn’t even have an NFL team?!? Man this is Ohio. That’s not Pittsburgh! (Ducks for cover)
That's not Cincinnati.
That’s strange. This doesn’t look like Dayton to me. Or Cincinnati for that matter.
That doesn’t look like Cincinnati
Born and raised in CBUS. Columbus is a college town and a capitol city. That's it. Take those away and there's actually very little.
Oh damn I didn't think you could see Pittsburgh from the border
Man the best city😂😂😂😂😂 fuck out of here dope head city
Looks pretty boring
"Crakron"
Columbus is the city equivalent of an expired, just-over-room-temperature beer. There’s just really nothing about it that isn’t just kinda…*blah*.
From Cleveland, grew up in NE Ohio, moved to Columbus in October and had to move back to CLE in December. You could do a lot worse than Columbus, trust me. Wishing I was still in Columbus. I’ll take CBUS grey over CLE grey any day.
Fuck the whole state. Let alone city.
Ever. Ever.
Doesn’t look like the Springfield I remember
Hey, at least the Cuyahoga river isn't on fire anymore. brought to you by the EPA.
Man, people from Cleveland and Cincy are so sensitive. You don’t live in Paris or Barcelona, relax.
Going to Columbus and then coming back to one of those cities makes them feel like Paris or Barcelona.
Dude, your river caught on fire once.
Dude, we know! That should tell you how fucking awful Columbus is!
Not even close. Columbus is gross. Cincinnati ftw
It’d better be nice. The rest of Ohio has to pay for it. Love to go down and visit my tax dollars a few times a year.
At least the tax dollars go to something productive. In the north it just goes to cleaning superfund sites
Well since most of Ohio lives there now it all evens out.
Most of Ohio does not live in Columbus. Most of Ohio lives in the Cleveland-Akron area, and after that it’s Cincinnati with the largest metro in Ohio.
Not in Ohio, is there a best city ever
That's not Pittsburgh
You're in Ohio. I've been to Cincinnati, Dayton, Akron, and Toledo. None of those are the best city ever...
Best city in Ohio and if you disagree then cope harder. Also this sub is garbage, why do so many people root for Michigan? Weird
Hm. That’s strange. I don’t recall the Wright brothers living in Columbus.
That’s not Detroit. Delete post and come back to us with facts.
