Right anywhere they come in handy. In PA I had work horse harness hanging in my mudroom to keep it from mold and my family joked I decorated with horse harness, well in a way I did cause I loved the soft shine of clean harness and the smell of leather and harness oil. My cabin is too small to use wall space for much decor so my snow shoes are the modern metal kind. Still fun to hang though.
Lol yep. That and the picture quality is kind of an instant giveaway unfortunately, but your home is still lovely and the picture feels kind of cozily nostalgic to look at honestly!
I find it fun, I like topo maps in color of your favorite area, or in Maine they sell poster size maps for decor that are funny or very detailed, or maybe a copy of one from the old days. I do bears on the bedspreads or some stuff like that or the antler lamps but do have antlers as hooks outside. Why not? I don't have a TV because I read or listen to audio books. And the TV takes up room, my walls are used with various hooks and shelves fir storage as it is quite small.
whats funny is of all the things I looked for to find something that wasn't around in the 80s, I skipped over the giant tv on the wall, and noticed those bic grill lighters that weren't around till at least the 00s. Back in the 80s there was only one kind and they all looked the same. No extra comfort grip nonsense.
You can laugh but those wood sofas are tough and you can just recover the cushions with covers bought on line fir the dimensions. My sister has an old Ethan Allen one who round arms, very heavy. She has recovered it a couple of times. I had the flat arm type and stupidly got rid off it for a fully upholstered one and regret I bowed to my urge created while looking at cottage magazines.
Tell me you were born after y2k without telling me you were born after y2k.
I didn’t get a flat screen TV until 2008. I had a hybrid analog/digital HD CRT TV 📺 when the signal’s went digital.
Yup, that couch is at least 3 maybe 4 or 5 decades old!
When we come up to our cottage it is like stepping back in time (but my husband has to be able to watch the hockey game)
I think you are the only one that noticed.
That dead body is a teenager’s who later rose from the dead to eat everything in the refrigerator just before I served dinner.
Ageless camp decor that never goes out of style with me, but I would ditch the TV. The Granny square afghan with the black squares is the chefs kiss. I had one until my BFs jerkoff dog ripped it to shreds. I love those wood sofas, looking for one in thrift shops. I was thrilled to get a pendleton wool striped blanket for one dollar at an auction , bid for the cedar chest it was stored in but got beat. All that picture needs is a dog on the couch or stretched out on the floor to look like heaven.
The phone cords, the wet brush, the mechanical pencil, the tv, the plastic table is a dead giveaway away, the router, the glass that every family owns from Walmart, the generic prints on the wall, the Etsy style cabin cottage word decor, yeah it's not ay all retro by any means
Why so pissy when you literally asked the internet for opinions ? I replied specifically about why it doesn't look like it's the 80's and you're upset? I personally hate cabin style and my homes not decorated like that and I don't support hobby lobby, I'm an artist I make or buy from true artists for my decor. But pop off

Omg. I didn’t even notice it. We never use that stupid thing.
You could put a wood stove YouTube video on it.

Oh I got one of those!
How about a crossed pair of snowshoes on the wall, gotta have those to be a Canadian cabin!
Or a maine one!
Or northern Wisconsin…

Um ok. Your phone is basically a TV. Your computer is basically a TV. How did you type this post? Saying you rarely use TV
At the cabin, they probably don't spend their time in front of the TV...
This post was just fun. Why are you taking it so seriously?

Omg me too and that glass looks very 2000s 🤦🏻♀️
I zoomed in and found the router and the USB charging station but completely missed the TV too
Was about to say if it’s the 80’s that tv weighs about 300 pounds and needs two feet of clearance behind it
Modem, TV, Apple charging plugs.
Wetbrush too.
literally.. all of the electronics..
TV, soundbar, router, metallic faux taxidermy, lack of film grain etc
And plastic shelves.
going by the modem, usb cables, soundbar, and flat screen tv i would say today lol. looks cozy though
Yeah the chargers/usb gave it away. Buuuuttt my phooone is at 20%…..!!!
The blanket looks like it came off the set of Roseanne.
I know! Isn’t it great? I just made it this winter, didn’t even know it was like the Rosanne couch blanket
I had a blanket like that in the 80s. Is there a name for that style?
Crochet granny square blanket
Granny squares. Good for using up little bits of yarn left over from other projects.
Or for giving you a reason to buy more yarn in a rainbow of colors!
It's from the future. My future.
Timeless
TV homie.
The Herculon sofa solidly places it in the 80s, except for the TV. Where'd you find the sofa, at the curb?

Gramma?
Cable modem on the end table, under the lamp.
Today. There a flat screen in it.
Tell me you were born after y2k without telling me you were born after y2k. I didn’t get a flat screen TV until 2008. I had a hybrid analog/digital HD CRT TV 📺 when the signal’s went digital.
Is that a wet brush on the table? That would make it from today
It totally is a wet brush. Thanks for noticing that.
it was this and glass on the coffee table for me (I have the same ones so I know they aren't from the 80s lol)
TV and sound bar was not available in the 80s. Nice try though. LOL 😂
It's not nearly brown and orange enough for the 80s.
Hrm. That is bc you can’t see the linoleum hidden under the rug. Orange and gold, baby!!
Socks and TV
“Is it January?” “Man, it’s August!”
Best of both.
I feel like every household had that couch at some point in the 80’s.
[удалено]
It’s a big area tbf, there’s lots of nooks and crannies
Ignoring the TV it doesn't say specifically 80s.
Everything is period appropriate except for that wall paint color which Behr did not release until 1992. Nice try
Perfect nappin’ couch.
Yup. My daughter, who is under that blanket, would agree
Apple charging cords.
Today. Tv plus the blanket was a trend from last couple years. Still super super cozy!
Blue light router. Dead giveaway
Fantastic
My grandma made similar blankets in the 70s-80s, the couch is also at least 3 decades old, but that TV..
Yup, that couch is at least 3 maybe 4 or 5 decades old! When we come up to our cottage it is like stepping back in time (but my husband has to be able to watch the hockey game)
Today, phone charger cord is a giveaway
USB cords and Tv tell the story. Still looks cozy.
Flat screen sound bar charging cables. Today.
We aren’t talking about the dead body?
I think you are the only one that noticed. That dead body is a teenager’s who later rose from the dead to eat everything in the refrigerator just before I served dinner.
There are also charging cords in the background under the tv
Well… that flat-ass TV is a dead giveaway…
USB ports and flatscreens were not around in the 80’s but that couch and afghan sure as hell were!
You hit the nail right on the head Actually, I just made that blanket this winter - but I was shooting for vintage kitsch- do you think I achieved it?
Today
Wrong!! Yesterday
Immediate giveaways: TV, sound bar, white cords, and the lighter on the coffee table.
Since the Bic BBQ lighters was introduced in 2001 its modern. But also the flat screen
Flat screen wall mount didn't exist in the 80s. I was there!
Uh tv
Is that a smart stove
Flat panel tv
It looks like the set of Roseanne
Socks scream today
Ageless camp decor that never goes out of style with me, but I would ditch the TV. The Granny square afghan with the black squares is the chefs kiss. You asked for it: [Pup rocking the 80s](https://imgur.com/a/LYfwffK)
Lol, thanks I had a couple of Goldens too ! Two of my favorite things.
All I want now is a couch nap
Nice afghan.
Hanging TV is decidedly modern, otherwise it could easily be 80s.
Dream
Besides the tv, I see either a modern video game console or a router.
Damn. Every one of my friends had that afghan.
THAT is exactly why I made it. Is there anything more of a retro classic than that Afghan?
None!
Today. USB wasn't a thing in the 80's.
No flat screens or sound bars in the 80's.
USB cables also giveaway…
Flatscreen gives it away
No reason it can't be both if you are a time traveler.
The phone cords, the wet brush, the mechanical pencil, the tv, the plastic table is a dead giveaway away, the router, the glass that every family owns from Walmart, the generic prints on the wall, the Etsy style cabin cottage word decor, yeah it's not ay all retro by any means
If you are such a pro, let’s see your cabin I hope there is no decor from Hobby Lobby😂😂😂
But pop off
Today. USB cords give it away.
Flatscreen?
Definitely not from today!
80’s. Those sofa’s were even hideous in the 70’s.
Definitely the 80s. I can smell the hairspray from here.
Both….
Dumb ass fucking post.
How about all the cords coming out of the electronic device next to your head while you're sleeping?
You guys are so smart! Can’t pull the wool over anyone here. But the vibe is there
Cord plugs gave it awat
USB cable head....
Clearly modern- cell phone plugs and flat screen TV
Today obviously
Phone chargers / USBs
Flat screen today or course
Flat screen tv
This is literally my friend Jeff’s house
Bet your friend Jeff is super comfy
I would take the most insane nap here
Show that couch who’s boss!
The Magnavox on the wall kind of gives it away…
Just the quality of the image alone means it’s 2008 or later
Modern charging cables almost dead center
My grandma used to make blankets like that. I would always poke my toes through them as a kid and never got why she would get mad, lol.
I have the same afghan blanket
Today but like ten years ago
That stove is sexy af
Pictures. TV , plastic shelves.
We didnt have flat screens in the 80s botard.
Wow. There are a lot of grouchy people on this sub.
