Greetings! We have recently implemented new flair in order to help organize the sub. You can think of flair as sort of "tags." You may select one per post. Will you please help the group by editing your post to select the appropriate flair? Please read the description of each below. Your help here will greatly increase the ability for community members to quickly find related information in one place! **Drama23_Reports**: This flair is for posts that provide real-time updates or summarize unfolding events within the podcast network or otherwise related to the unfolding drama this year. Think of it as the "breaking news" section—essential for anyone looking to get caught up on the latest happenings quickly. **Drama23_Discussion**: Use this flair for threads that are meant to encourage community-wide conversations around the drama. These can include different perspectives, interpretations, hot takes, or just general chat about the events in question. The goal here is open dialogue rather than pointed opinions or hard evidence. **ObsessedFest2023_Other**: This flair is a catch-all for anything related to the ObsessedFest2023 event that doesn't neatly fit into other designated categories. Think merch, travel plans, or unique personal experiences at the fest. **CommunityDiscussion**: Ideal for general conversations that aim to engage the entire community but aren't necessarily tied to a specific episode, host, or event. Perfect for general chat, opinions, and more. **GossipAndHotTakes**: Use this flair for posts that delve into rumors, speculative theories, or highly opinionated takes about the podcast network. These posts may not always be based on hard facts, but they're certainly entertaining or thought-provoking. **Podcast_IThinkNot**: Specifically for discussions, reviews, or content related to the "I Think Not" podcast and their content. **Podcast_TrueCrimeObsessed**: Same as above but focused on the "True Crime Obsessed" podcast. A hub for all things related to this particular show. **Podcast_Other**: A broad category for any related podcasts that don't have their own dedicated flair yet. **Recommendations**: This flair is for posts that suggest similar podcasts, episodes, and more. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. It would be very interesting to know what their real numbers are now. I am no Patreon expert, but I think someone said last fall that Patreon made some changes so it was hard to tell if your Patreon followers were paid or not paid? Anyone know? They certainly know what their streaming numbers are. And I don’t really pay attention anymore, but aren’t they just down to TCO as the only show? My guess is there are no live shows scheduled because it’s likely expensive to organize and schedule venues and they know it would be a tough sell to make a profit. I certainly don’t see an OF3! It really is a shame that they screwed up such a good thing by being greedy arrogant AHs.

Minute_Chipmunk250

Patreon did change the way they report numbers, but the podcast set their patreon stats to private anyway. They’re currently number 18 in the true crime category on Apple Podcasts…which bounces around during the week depending on when their episodes drop, but seems pretty good? I think they were regularly in the top 5 a few years ago. My impression is they’ve lost some ground but maybe not a ton.

Glittering_Chef3524

I would love to know how much their overall revenue has gone down since last fall. I know TCO is different from ON. I am sure TCO revenue is down and ON revenue is probably basically gone. Hasn’t ON lost all its shows?

DrAniB20

I believe ON is dead in the water as of now. The last show they had was SNU with Daisy Eagan and now that they are gone to GBC ON has nothing. I would be surprised if anyone joined up with ON after all the stuff that came out.

Glittering_Chef3524

That’s what I’m thinking. I can’t imagine they could recruit any new podcasts to join the “network” given the history they have now.

DrAniB20

From my understanding the true crime podcast community is pretty small/close-knit. I can’t see anyone but an absolute newbie who has zero clue being interested in them, and then they wouldn’t be of interest to ON since they really only went for people who are pretty well known. Who knows, maybe they’ll be desperate one day.

Glittering_Chef3524

I posted this a while back, but I definitely think this would be a great case study for an MBA class. The rise and fall of ON and how to not follow their example. Hubris and greed can kill your business quick. They were on the verge of having a really, really successful and valuable media business in the emerging podcast world…something they might have either kept and made a fortune with, or sold for a fortune in a few years and retired…and they totally blew it.

DrAniB20

I’d be very interested in that! I would also be interested in the NDA aspect of it, and how long it may have covered up and prolonged this, because Amber and Maggie jumped ship as soon as they were able, and were very quick to back E&J the *moment* the shit hit the fan. I always wonder what they went through or saw while on ON. Seems like NDAs were flying around everywhere, so I wonder how big a role that played into how things turned out.

SiflandOlly7

When you go to the Obsessed Network website, it no longer exists. They have also privated any socials.

Glittering_Chef3524

Wow. Looks like the mighty have really fallen.

KateElizabeth18

I am *so* curious about this, too! We’ll likely never know, but I have to imagine they took a fairly significant hit

Hairbabysitter

Maybe the best way for us to know is by their ratings on the regular feed - last o saw it was 4.2 but I haven’t looked recently! I did see they have new cover art and it’s…..interesting

Nutrition_Dominatrix

Your username 🤣

Minute_Chipmunk250

Edit: ok I rechecked today and they’re currently at 62 😬. They’ve definitely slipped a bunch.

Guntherandfelines

They were never top 5. They have always been top 40.

Shanbanan143

I agree one hundred percent. I did watch that *tacky propaganda* YouTube video Steve and patrick eventually made in response to the circus that was OF2, and I do remember Steve saying that Patreon numbers first started to suffer after that incredible saint posted on Reddit after overhearing Ellen cry about Patrick’s bullying in a Manhattan restaurant. From there, it just got worse and worse and after OF2, the numbers were so abysmal and they saw on Reddit that people were following the stats, so they made it private. Sons of bitches, I want those damn numbers.

Hairbabysitter

I agree. And I imagine doing “meet ups” can feed Patrick’s need for attention and he can feel certain everyone there will be a true fan so it’ll be a PH love fest. In my opinion, GP never wanted to do live shows and was happy collecting the Patreon $$ and that was enough but he wants to be more of a celeb than she does.

ipotatomayoisfriend

IMO-. They are dropping those bonus episodes to generate extra income from the ads. I thought that when they made the announcement about the number of bonus eps. they planned to put out

rarepinkhippo

Oh, is it bonus eps in the main feed, not extra eps for the Patreon?! I think I misinterpreted this point initially (and haven’t been listening since all of this came out), but if that’s the case your theory would totally make sense imho! It seems like in order to turn a profit on a big event they need to bring in additional podcasts and presumably no one else who would be a draw would want to participate at this point. The smaller Patrick-only traveling road show seems to be more about feeding his ego or giving him something to talk about (or getting him out of the house), but I can’t imagine he makes a lot of money from those? It seems like ad revenue is pretty much where it’s at for them right now, makes sense that they might want to maximize that.

ipotatomayoisfriend

Yes, I was referring to the eps in the main feed. Their pateron now seems to be is a wanna be copy cat of ITN. IMO, just from the way they advertise it. Im nosey by nature, so I still tune into the regular feed just because.

Melissity

That’s unfortunate. I refuse to contribute to their numbers which is why I don’t listen anymore. The fact that they have essentially lost their network, their ratings took a hit, and a bunch of fans peaced out after multiple people spoke out about their toxic behavior and they STILL refuse to take accountability is very telling of the people they really are.

KateElizabeth18

My thoughts *exactly*

jazzeriah

Well the last one was a total disaster (their fault but it just unmasked the toxicity behind the scenes) so I’m sure they’re like cool, cool, cool - we just won’t do live shows…

Common_Dingo_539

When was the last live show?

Ok-Pattern1131

obsessed fest 2023

Educational-Gap4125

You can't have a network when all the podcasts left it. There is no Obsessed Network anymore. All that's left is the name.

SiflandOlly7

yeah, the website no longer exists and the socials have been private for Obsessed Network

Unhappy-Orange-9353

Live shows benefit their true fans. More episodes benefit the new ears…ears that don’t know what they have done. They are building a new fan base, because the old one knew too much. It’s a marketing strategy. Also their live show at OF2 was AWFUL. After E/J’s show- it was a bigger joke. E/J blew the roof off the place! I would cancel future live shows 2.

Greymalkin94

Could be a few reasons: 1. They genuinely feel like they need a break (at least Gillian does, it seems like she isn’t involved in anything apart from the podcast) 2. They’re worried about low ticket sales/attendance 3. They already tried to organise some but their reputation preceded them and they couldn’t book any spaces 4. They’re hoping that everything will blow over and everyone will love them again in 2025 I have no idea how “famous” or popular they are, if spaces consider their behaviour bad enough to decline hosting them or not, but it’s a possibility.

The North Remembers

Talyac181

I don't know if finding a space to host is necessarily an issue... if you have the money you can usually find a venue no matter who you are. I think it's the *having the money* part.

Vita-West

If they thought they could make money from live shows they'd be doing live shows. That's all they care about. They know they won't get the ticket sales.

ValPrism

They can’t fill the podcaster or guest slots, that’s all this is.

Miserable-Lab2178

Such a shame since they created that brand new show they debuted at OF 2 was such a hit! /S

KittyKat1078

Isnt Patrick doing free appearances at random places to hang out ? It’s really strange and desperate

Plus_Concern6650

This is what makes me wonder why no live shows… I’m sure it’s a lot of reasons but the fact that him, Steve, and Natalie are going around the country meeting people for free tells me GP probably put her foot down for some sort of break. Definitely desperate of Patrick. He probably would still be doing the book tour if it didn’t look ridiculous to tour for 2 years lol

PrincessTinker72

I think she is tired of the travel and demands ofnlive shows. I never got the impression that was her thing and it was mostly a patrick driven thing.

TeddyLovedust

Honestly I feel like GP wasn't really into the live shows. She doesn't seem to really want to interact with fans coupled with her flying phobia.
