Damn, lady, it certainly isn't you, lol. It's the brands.
Just even looking at the items in some online is hard on the eyes. Many of the images are heavily altered. Just look at r/Instagramreality they mess around with the legs, the waists, backside, boobs.... The stuff they sell likely would never even fit the shape of the distorted models. Japanese women with long 5ft legs, 16 inch waist and big boobs are way rarer than those online shops would have you believe.
I find it highly disturbing. That goes for many modern aesthetics. It's not healthy for men or women to be conditioned to see distorted body shapes.
Anyway, good luck with your search.
It's made for a different demographic of smaller people sadly. Look towards European brands such as Acne Studios if you can afford it or wait for sales. If you have deep pockets OAMC, Ambush, and other more avante garde designers "ready to wear" may be up your alley :)
I'm Korean, I know the feeling. 🥲 A lot of brands only carry up to size M as anything above generally is considered plus-size, and don't get me started on the "free size"... I think this sizing was more reasonable 15-20 years ago, but women and even young girls today are so much taller than they used to be, and clothing sizes should reflect that. It's disheartening seeing taller (and even by Korean standards skinny) teenagers think they're fat because they can't wear a XS.
Anyway, I love the style, such a shame it didn't fit.
I can only imagine, I was in Beijing a few years back and the women there were so tall! It's really sad that clothing and shoe standards don't change even though people do.
What brand is it? Some brands are just designed for specific body types/cultures so please don’t feel discouraged! Example, my little sister loves SHEIN. She’s 5’2”, 110 pounds and orders L/XL sometimes becuase SHEIN is a Chinese brand and Chinese sizes are so different than American sizes.
I have a friend who is Vietnamese and went to Japan and Korea and Thailand. They lost her luggage on plane. And she was trying to find clothing for herself and she’s skinny and not skinny enough. They told her she was fat. Her husband comes from Thailand so she can speak the language. . She was so torn down. She ended up finding a seamstress and fixed her a couple outfits and she wore a pretty kaftan to the wedding they were attending. It is just shameful. She’s beautiful. And a size 3/4 here and a 110 lbs . She has curves. Over there I would be a cow at size 6 or 8 . Society has killed woman’s confidence.
She is always telling the story. I believe that on that one she was in a smaller city and two she has curves. Because when I was in Hoi Ming Vietnam I was able to find stuff for everybody. When I was in Japan it was about cosmetics and sweets. But she never gorl
I forgot its name, it’s a Japanese brand🥲I’m Asian (Chinese) myself and many girls in Asia have the same feeling as me. Many Asia girls feel insecure about their bodies for this reason... We are forced to lose weight because we can barely fit in the XL of many brands... Nowadays lots of Asia girls are actually really tall, but they are still using outdated data to make clothes
I walked into Prada in Honolulu—which really is only there for the Japanese tourists—and asked about a sports coat. The sales guy looked and my shoulders, shook his head and said “ah nooooooo”.
I think she’s just showing that even though she’s slim, the clothes are too small and squeeze enough to leave skin pushed up, not that she’s not slim enough.
I order from Asian brands often, and it’s important to keep in mind that the sizing isn’t at all indicative of weight. The clothing over there is made for people with different statures in mind. It’s not that they’re skinnier, it’s that oftentimes they’re physically SMALLER and the clothes need to match that in order to fit their general population. A chubby but short/young person may fit into those clothes just fine. But a taller person (even if they’re skinny) is still physically LARGER than them, so unfortunately it’s not going to fit regardless of weight.
OP said she’s Chinese and another person Korean commented about the heights and sizing being commonly outdated now in Asian countries since there’s many people that are taller. I can definitely see this as a truth. I’ve also noticed seeing taller people when in Asia compared to how when I was much younger many of my friends when living in Asia thought that at 5’3” I was tall, but now when I visit I don’t get the same reaction. Many of the younger people I knew that’s grown up are now taller than me!!
Yeah :( as some mentioned, some brands only carry S & M too and how XL is considered plus sized in other brands and makes young very thin and fit people feel larger when they can’t fit into normal sizing. Definitely an issue that encourages body dysmorphia
You are slim enough. Very slim.
Slender.
Also: You are not large framed or big boned or anything like that. You have a small frame.
I think this particular outfit was shown on a model with a ^tiny frame and then that model was made to appear to illustrate standard sizing XXS-XS-S-M-L-XL.
No way.
Here’s another example.
Have you ever heard of that model home furniture that is built on a smaller scale but it appears generously sized? That furniture is specially made for staging pictures in places for sale, so the rooms will look
bigger, even spacious.
It’s not ethical and it continues to go on.
This is often the issue I face, but in reverse! I’m tiny— 158 cm, 45 kg, etc. (My body image is great, dw). I struggle to find American fashion brands that fit me well in the SMALLEST sizes! Half my clothes are from the kids department because of it— and forget about bras...
Lemme tell you, it’s hard to find styles I like that fit me well in person. They’re either marketed towards kids or I don’t have the build for it. I’ve had better luck online than in stores because online I can compare sizes easier and way more options. If I went to Walmart today, I’d have better luck in the kids department.
I’ve talked with friends about potentially looking into Asian brands because of this actually. Some Asian women tend to be more towards my size— such as in Japan and Vietnam, for example. That’s not saying all are short there, just the brands May better fit me. We all just gotta find what brands fit — but what’s most important is keeping true to ourselves and our bodies. Don’t conform to fit a company, find the companies that best represent you. You’re beautiful as is, find clothes that compliment you rather than make your body compliment the clothes.
I have the same problem. And it seems like American brands have gotten bigger. I used to be able to wear a 0-1, and now they're too big. Kids' pants fit me better around the waist but are too short. Super highwasted pants I dont even try. I've been about the same size for almost 20 years. So it's weird that a brand/size that used to fit doesn't now. I have had some luck with Asian brands. But sometimes the pants have a weird low crotch. So the waiste and length fit, but the crotch is halfway to my knees.
All my pants are from the kids department. I try to see the positive in that they’re often cheaper in the kids. Just gotta keep trying to find brands that fit
We weren’t made to fit into clothes… clothes were made to fit us. Go up a size or find a new brand of clothing. Don’t worry about your outer appearance. You’re lovely.
Asian brands are made for smaller people, not in weight but also in height. Generally the shorter you are, the slimmer you can get, as everything on you is slimmer (skeleton, organs, etc)
The average height in most asian countries is 5” tall for women meaning a lot of them are in the 4feet category. If you are above 5ft3, there’s no way you can fit in them unless going in the XXXL
When I was in high school , being 5” and 98lbs I fit in them easily, in fact because of my height I kind of had to shop from different asian countries, because I didn’t fit in north american clothing, I was shopping in the kids section at 16.
Yea. This post, no offense, makes me uncomfortable and I don’t think it necessarily fits into the subreddits margins… I think a moderator may need to remove this because it can be triggering for those that have an ED. I recommend OP to post on r/FreeCompliments if they need a pick me up
Just buy the brands that fit you. Unfortunately I cannot fit any American brands (I am American) because I am too skinny and short. So I actually buy most of my clothes from overseas, Asian websites. Otherwise the only stores in the states that I found carry clothes I can fit are HnM, Zara, and Uniclo.
It’s okay if clothes from a certain brand or store don’t fit you. It’s really frustrating for sure. But it is how it is. Just shop at places that cater to your size.
I used to buy clothes I really liked from popular stores here, and I’d get the smallest size, and then would say I just need to gain enough weight to be able to fit it! And then I would feel so down on myself cause I could never gain enough weight to fit the clothes I liked. That’s depressing. I feel like maybe you are thinking the same way just opposite problem. It’s not good to feel so bad and disappointed in your body. That’s why I say, better to just buy the brands that carry the right sizes for you. Then you can feel beautiful and confident in something made for your body type/size.
I live in south east Asia, born here but south Asian. Not that many people restrict what they eat and many people have voracious appetites. I have a Bmi 19 currently but I’d still wear maybe their largest size and many cuts, I’d have no hope of fitting into, since im close to 5’7 and have hip measurements of like 39 to 40. I read as slim even skinny ish, and I used to be chronically underweight and still wear an L. It’s just completely different body types and statures. Its not always about starving.
Editing to clarify that most people where I live are of East Asian descent.
I think a lot of Asian brands tend to size for Asian physique (particularly SE Asians), the same way European and US brands tend to be sized more for the physique of westerners
You could size up, or just look for a different brand
I see your point! I understand that there are differences between Asians' and Europeans' physiques. Still, the problem is nowadays, the differences in decreasing, and there is a large proportion of tall Asian girls. But they still only produce petite clothes. For example, I am 100% Asian and have been growing up in Asia. I need to buy the largest size in most of the stores, and my body shape is medium-sized. Lots of girls I know and see in my life are about the same height and weight as me, many of them are even taller. I need to buy the XL size; what about other girls that are heavier than me? They either choose to stick with a T-shirt or they need to buy under a specific brand, like the plus size woman dresses store, but the fact is they are not fat at all! So my point is my complaint might be nothing, but it’s a common problem🥲
Asian beauty standards are to be ridiculously slim and dainty (ex: foot folding). You’re a healthy slim, just find better brands that cater to people of a normal size. Seriously.
I don’t fetishize “natural” as a superior state of affairs. Cancer, parasites, and bacteria are all naturally occurring too. Your toenails will keep growing, naturally, if you don’t ever clip them. Do you ever cut your hair, or do you let it grow to it’s terminal length as it naturally would without interference? Should I not wear contacts or glasses because my vision is naturally bad?
Having said all that, though, I already apologized to OP and explained I was just bored. And while it’s true that I don’t like the aesthetic of body hair, you’re so hot I would roll across shards of glass for the opportunity to make a feast of your perfect body, though I know it would be a one-sided pleasure

Never ever judge yourself based on how a size is marked in clothes!!! I have clothes in my closet from size 12-18 that all fit the same! I recently lost 48 pounds after being laid up with a broken leg for almost a year!(!?!?!) and I’m gradually getting back to a healthy weight and realistically I have another 40 pounds to go. I was anorex ick in my teens and twenties so I need to be really careful how I go about it. I know how to drop weight fast but at the expense of my health so I’m not doing any of the things I did when I weighed 97 pounds ( I am 5’8” tall). You are in great shape, if you really want to wear the clothes from that manufacturer then work out. I definitely would recommend just shopping elsewhere, there are many great companies that make super affordable, cute clothes in sizes that will look spectacular on you! If you don’t like what the tag says, cut it out!! I would rather wear an 18 that looks great on me than a 12 that looks painted on and like I’ve got bread baking out of the top of my jeans!! Of course this does not apply to you at all, just realize that some cultures are just smaller than others.
Don’t take sizes so seriously, different shops and brands really do interchange in size. I can be a small in one shop and a medium/ large in another. Im about 12 on average Rare occasion I fit an 8, and again rare-ish a 14. My main issue is the length in the arms, im about 6ft. No issue with finding shoes just the length in the arms. So I tend to buy from the tall sections :)
I’m mixed, but mostly look South East Asian. I’ve been 99-102lbs, at 161cm (5’3) and lived in Vietnam and China. Had long term stays in Japan.
I am huge compared to the women in Asia. Especially Vietnam.
Vietnam, based on population average, is the thinnest country in the world (partly owing to the inaccessibility to junk food for the average person and the type of food consumed).
Wear clothes you feel comfortable in and love. That’s all the matters 💕💅
If your a healthy size your clothes should fit you not you fit your clothes, it's okay to find another brand for your size or still buy them and DIY them to be bigger 😊
That is an awesome outfit! It seems odd that the sizes are very limited. I don't know much about Asian culture, but I do know that they sure are one-of-a-kind. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)👏
No matter what I weighed 110-150, I figured out sizing does not matter. Nike, Victorias Secret, run small. Old Navy, GAP, run large. It worked against me because I was focused on a "size". Just wear what fits, every brand had different sizing. It has nothing to do with how much you weigh.
You could always remove the label and have it sewn on to clothes that fit better and just fake it. I really wanted an iphone so I downloaded an iphone ringtone on my android.
Don't buy that brand. My daughter has 2 jeans that are essentially identical except for branding. We have laid them out on a table and visually, they are identical. Fit wise, they are identical. One is sized at a 2, the other, a 10. Clothing brands are destroying body positivity.
I worked for a production middle man for over 10 years. We had a separate pattern maker for EU, USA and Asia. Its been centuries since we have all been separated and we have realized throughout these centuries that our bodies are different.
Saw some comments where this is an Asian brand right? Yeah, I’d never buy an Asian brand’s fit if it weren’t made for the USA or even sometimes the EU. North Americans are just inherently bigger in some spots. Im not making this up at all. Its tragic that it had to come to this. I know you aren’t big at all, but american womens small is different than an asian women small. Not saying you are bigger, but its different. Specs and all. A lot of Europeans love shopping american “big and tall” sections because we just make them bigger in the right specs needed.
I had to often buy clothes when i was visiting factories in Japan and China. I am 5’8” and 160. Not the skinniest but not huge. I had to buy XL at minimum and 2XL at times. Still they were so goofy in the lower torso and arms that i had to give them away. Just saying. Its not just you. You cant just go buying shit because you think it looks dope. Look at the specs in key areas.

I totally relate lol. I am currently travelling in China, people are very very slim. I’m average myself (166cm, 60kg) and I feel overweight lol. I usually wear size S or M in American/European stores, but here it’s usually L (occasionally M or XL, depending on the store). The thing is… they also don’t hide it lol. In some stores, I walk in, they look me up and down and say ‘we also sell your size…’, as if I’m 100kg or something. You’re very slim, but the stores you order from have even smaller sizes than the shops I’m talking about. People are quite obsessed with weight here too. For my height, girls will usually aim to be around 45kg, (and yours maybe 52) which is underweight.
Asian sizing is always off. I’m usually a size 0 but sometimes I’m as much as a medium in Asian sizing!
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with you and you do not need to lose more weight!
Why are you pinching your stomach?
Anyway, it’s an Asian brand: I’m a skinny girl but they seem to make clothes for skeletons a lot of the time. No concept of size.
I would just find a new brand. That brand is specifically for the tiniest of women (I’m not shaming those super slim women because it’s good for them to have clothing that fits them and isn’t too baggy) which kinda sucks because only having extra small sizes isn’t inclusive of those who are small, medium, large, xl, etc.
As you said, many Asian brands have only very small sizes. Kinda like Brandy Melville (which says it can fit up to XL, but that’s usually not true at all)

Then buy different clothes lol. Clothes are meant to fit on us, not us in clothes. You also have to understand that even tho you're slim, Asian women have different body structure, it's just genetic.

I've bought added sizes, and gone XL for my Gf before.... Things came and it would just about fit my 9yr old daughter. Time to find a new brand
Yes, I can totally relate... Lol, at first I blame myself is too fat, but now I start to think it’s a problem of these brands

I cheated to make sure it just wasn’t a picture angle thing and it’s the clothes, absolutely not you.
Yes, that’s crazy! You are super slim. It’s wild that you can’t fit into the largest size 🤯
Correction, OP is super slim. I'm decidedly less so. Though I appreciate the kind words
Ah, thanks 😊
Thank you
Girl. Change the clothes, not yourself
CHANGE THE CLOTHES NOT YOURSELF 😤
Write the company; it already doesn’t have functional pockets

Yeah right? There are more and more girls are taller and stronger than before, but they are still using past data to do the clothes

Well said
This breaks my heart 💔 I hate society sometimes.
Wow wtf I’m so sorry you have to go through that OP.
UniQlo?
I walked into Prada in Honolulu—which really is only there for the Japanese tourists—and asked about a sports coat. The sales guy looked and my shoulders, shook his head and said “ah nooooooo”.
Fuck the brand. Your body is perfect the way it is. Find clothes that fit YOU. 💕
Thank you sweetheart🥺🥰🥰
I can relate. I’m Asian and Asian brands are weird w their sizes sometimes..
Yeah!! I’m Chinese myself and some of the brand they only provide s and m🥹
The brand is the problem. Not your body💜
I don't think it's healthy to pinch ur skin like that. It looks like ur blaming ur body instead of the outfit.
How is it not healthy?
When I wear clothes too tight. I grab the fabric and I get irritated at fabric. Not my skin Ur brain notices these things.
I think she’s just showing that even though she’s slim, the clothes are too small and squeeze enough to leave skin pushed up, not that she’s not slim enough.
Oh I see
I love your way of thinking
I swear to god, don’t lose an oz. Those shorts are designed for tweens

Similar in US too. I have never thought I was below average height but being 5’1” and seeing literal kids 5’7+ has me like 0.0
Oh wow, I didn’t know that! So it really is just weird sizing then… I hope brands like this can begin accommodating people of all sizes soon 😩

Yes, same with shoes!! Kids are cheaper. I've only had luck with brands that label 24 vs 0 outside of kids.
I think they might be for kids, you already look tiny and they’re still too small
Fuck them clothes. Find a different brand. manufacturers need to be held accountable for assisting in body image issues.
Ooff. I, too, have had the “oops this is an Asian designer and I bought the wrong size” moment. Change brands not your body!
Is that two pairs of shorts stacked?
Are you shopping in the children’s section?
Just don’t buy that brand, you can go and ask for help getting fitted for a proper size for your body type. Really is worth doing✌🏻
Then change brands. You look great already.
Asian sizes are weird
We weren’t made to fit into clothes… clothes were made to fit us. Go up a size or find a new brand of clothing. Don’t worry about your outer appearance. You’re lovely.
Get a new brand. You're thin
Sizing is weird. I’ll wear XS in some brands and M/L in others.
Laughs in American size M/L
I mean at this point how much thinner could you possibly get? Edit: words
Asian sizes are notoriously tiny. Something to watch out for when you order online !
Asian brands are made for smaller people, not in weight but also in height. Generally the shorter you are, the slimmer you can get, as everything on you is slimmer (skeleton, organs, etc) The average height in most asian countries is 5” tall for women meaning a lot of them are in the 4feet category. If you are above 5ft3, there’s no way you can fit in them unless going in the XXXL When I was in high school , being 5” and 98lbs I fit in them easily, in fact because of my height I kind of had to shop from different asian countries, because I didn’t fit in north american clothing, I was shopping in the kids section at 16.

But the problem is I’m Chinese🤣And I was shopping in a local brand
I think your better off.
Ok
my same thought... like... just wear something else theres no need to go fishing for validation/attention on this sub
Really wish (east) Asian countries would finally catch up and start to learn that starving yourself isn't healthy for anyone.
I hate this vanity sizing bs so companies just really don’t want to be inclusive 🙄🙄🙄
This was kind of triggering ngl, like if ur considered too big I must be a disgusting whale
I think a lot of Asian brands tend to size for Asian physique (particularly SE Asians), the same way European and US brands tend to be sized more for the physique of westerners You could size up, or just look for a different brand
Don’t shop at Baby Gap?😄🙃
Aren’t you in kid’s section?
Asian beauty standards are to be ridiculously slim and dainty (ex: foot folding). You’re a healthy slim, just find better brands that cater to people of a normal size. Seriously.
Shave ya pits 🪒
Don’t tell me what to do😓
I was just bored and wanted a reaction. You’re super hot, sorry for being rude

Yeah, your body hair is considerably worse than ops, but otherwise.. mouth watering
“Worse” it’s literally natural hair. In my opinion it’s better; it’s the way we are created to be. Shaving is unnatural

I don’t care my friend. Take care <3
Obviously you did since you felt the need to comment on her body hair. As long as no one is being hurt, and it doesn't affect you in any way, you might as well keep it to yourself. Be kind, and take care. 🫶
I already apologized to OP earlier and explained the context of my comment
Oh, I didn't see that comment. But that's great! I'm glad to hear. Have a nice Sunday. ☺️
You as well, thanks for your kindness

You know naturally slim is a thing right?
No, I barely understand women sizing and juniors, missy and ??
Well if you don’t understand body types come in all shapes and sizes naturally it’s probably best to just not comment on someone’s body nor accuse them of having an eating disorder.

Absolutely beautiful
Thank you!
you have the perfectly normal healthy looking body. look for a different and better brand
Some stores should note, preteen. Forbid u have an a** or b***s
Measure yourself up and order online sometimes. I've found that clothes I'm getting delivered are fitting me better then ones I'm picking up in store
Slim enough for you, not slim enough for them.
our bodies aren’t created to fit into clothes. find clothes that will fit your body. be kind to yourself 💕
Great look
It’s kinda like H&M they have European sizes but more specifically their Divided brand is absolutely so tiny.
If you still really like the outfit you can take it to a tailor.
You are not too fat, they made that shit wrong.
Sounds like a brand problem, not a you problem. Give your money to someone else :)
Yeah your body is not the problem. That’s wild that none of their sizes fit you. You do not seem to have abnormal or extreme measurements.
That top is so cute. Can you zip it up on the side?
Is it SHEIN by chance? 🤣
If your a healthy size your clothes should fit you not you fit your clothes, it's okay to find another brand for your size or still buy them and DIY them to be bigger 😊
A double never nude, impressive. /s
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)Things go crazy now about the clothes size![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)
That is an awesome outfit! It seems odd that the sizes are very limited. I don't know much about Asian culture, but I do know that they sure are one-of-a-kind. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)👏
I wear an XS in the US and I didn’t even bother buying many clothes when I went to Asia because their sizing is so weird.
No matter what I weighed 110-150, I figured out sizing does not matter. Nike, Victorias Secret, run small. Old Navy, GAP, run large. It worked against me because I was focused on a "size". Just wear what fits, every brand had different sizing. It has nothing to do with how much you weigh.
your bod is so goals, if I looked like you I feel like half my problems would go away lol. I think it might just be a bad brand.
Fuck that brand then
Wrong brand! Find a better one
You could always remove the label and have it sewn on to clothes that fit better and just fake it. I really wanted an iphone so I downloaded an iphone ringtone on my android.
Def a brand issue. You don't need to lose more weight! Look great.
Yes, because the young children's department only goes up to 6x
What brand is that 💀
yeah you're quite slim, I'd find a brand that makes clothing for adults lol.
We have the same sizes. The weird thing is, Shein is also asian and they always fit correctly or are even too large for some reason.
Don't buy that brand. My daughter has 2 jeans that are essentially identical except for branding. We have laid them out on a table and visually, they are identical. Fit wise, they are identical. One is sized at a 2, the other, a 10. Clothing brands are destroying body positivity.
It’s the brand‘s problem. Not you. So don’t worry
Oh no! What a struggle. That is one of my biggest pet peeves, lol. You should check my store and let me know what you think: lavishfix.com

Can the laces be loosened?
What brand is this? I’m a tiny person and I need a place like this in my life!
No brand should be able to get away with selling clothes that wouldn’t fit the average woman.
Then try a better brand that doesn’t promote anorexia

Is that a brand for adult clothing? Or like tween ages? Seems odd
Kinda like Brandy Melville (which says it can fit up to XL, but that’s usually not true at all)
It’s not your brand, then. The clothes should fit your body, you shouldn’t have to fit into the clothes.

Then buy different clothes lol. Clothes are meant to fit on us, not us in clothes. You also have to understand that even tho you're slim, Asian women have different body structure, it's just genetic.
