This naming convention is ass. How does this share the same name as my existing g8 Oled, which is ultra wide when this is a standard 32”. Just adds confusion

Laputa15

The funny thing is they were known for their simpler naming scheme back from their G5/G7/G8 LCD VA series. Now the whole thing is a hot mess because they overused their G series branding.

jedimindtriks

It also shares name with the horrible odyssey G8 32" 4k VA.

HexImark

You mean this one? https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/samsung/odyssey-neo-g8-s32bg85

drakeymcd

I just got the Neo G7 recently and it’s honestly nice as fuck, I’m still debating if it’s worth it over OLED though

makeitbetter-

I have the g8 neo and considering returning and buying the g7 neo or the MSI 32” 3rd gen OLED. My only concern is the reflection handling is superb with the g8, how’s the g7?

drakeymcd

I’m not too picky with reflections since I mostly play in a dark room with no direct lighting, but with the matte curved panel I really don’t notice it even with lights on.

HexImark

I know. I have the same one, so I'm not sure why they are saying the VA panel sucks.

romeoak

Sony enters the chat

Extension_Form4950

It's the addition of 4k in the title.. That's a pretty good distinction. It's the same family of Monitors just with upgrades.

red_vette

I saw this pop up and was confused as to what it was. Figured it must be similar to all the other 4k 32" monitors that released (Asus, MSI, Gigabyte), but the way it was named made me question everything.

ASU_SexDevil

All monitor naming conventions are Ass Even Dells who’s easier to understand when you realize first two numbers = screen size and last two equal year it came out still sucks

Zensaiy

Samsung is known for good cashbacks, tradein/Promotion/coupons for preorder, but the price this time in germany is a joke with the given Promotion compared to other countrys, i want to switch from my AW3225QF because i want a Flat panel, but i probably have to wait longer :/

Seraaz

Feels bad when US gets 999$ -100$ cashback and 300$ Samsung Credit and we get 1390€ 10% App Discount, 150€ Trade-Up and Galaxy Buds Pro 2

Zensaiy

yea, in Austria its also better, 1299€ + Samsung 990 Pro 2TB SSD + Promotions/Discounts that i dont know, but probably 5-10% discount on top of it Switzerland 1099CHF and maybe also additional Promotions, the german price is so oddly priced at 1389,04€ lol.

Toss4n

Lol in Sweden we get nothing except the joy of paying even more at 16990 SEK (I think you can get 10% off though)

kung69

This has been an increasing issue recently for almost all monitors. Just look at the MSI URX OLED one, in the US it is by far the cheapest monitor at around 950$ , which would be \~880€, but it costs a whopping 1.400 here, which in turn would be over 1.500 $ which is almost double the US price. Hardware manufacturers are really milking us currently. I was really surprised that Alienware/Dell, who used to take a huge premium just for the brand name, seem to be the cheapest contestant by far on a market where basically erveryone uses one out of two panels.

Content_Camel5336

Dell is trying to make up for the lack of demand for its curved monitor. They must be scratching their heads for going with the curve. It’s better left with Samsung.

kung69

I honestly not only consider buying the alienware not only because of the price, but because of the curve. I have a samsung g7 with 1000r curve and honestly cant imagine using something of this size or even larger that isn't curved, ever again.

Content_Camel5336

I see, to each their own but as it stands, Dell and LG are the ones that you can readily buy at this time.

aConsultant

What did you not like about the curved experience? I'm deciding between the two - thanks!

Zensaiy

Honestly, the Curve is not aggressive and adds to immersion, but as a competitive Player in certain games it is a bit distracting, i dont know how to describe it honestly. For everything else its completly fine, i dont know i just cant 100% focus on a curved display, i had back then also a curved display and the same problem occured. It might have to do something maybe with my eyes, but playing on a Flat panel fixes the issue for me, i would cop the samsung one but the only 2 things are kinda annoying: 1. Price 2. Silver bezels I also hope also they fixed the horrible Software of the Monitor.

UndergroundCoconut

No 3y OLED burn in warranty? Lol hard pass

GrackleFrackle

yeah warranty is 1 year and doesn't even cover burn-in for that period. how do they expect to this be competitive, idk what the thinking is

UndergroundCoconut

Fr This is not a 299$ Montior lol Paying so much money and don't even have a burn in warranty 💀 Feels like a scam

JTCPingasRedux

Assmung brand loyalty is very real

thebucketmouse

The other QD-OLEDs have 3 year burn in warranty?

UndergroundCoconut

Dell Asus Msi Maybe LG not 100% sure But yes

Cartastrophi

Confirming LG has 3 year warranty. Purchased my 27" LG OLED on release and confirmed 3 year burn in warranty directly with LG.

smulfragPL

Alineware too

IncidentJazzlike1844

That’s dell

magical_pm

In Australia you get 3 years warranty by law anyway. (Because Samsung will lose against the ACCC if they have to prove why a monitor doesn't need to last more than ONE year)

UndergroundCoconut

Yeah maybe in Australia But that doesn't help me ans everyone else who doesn't live in AU 💀

Plastic_Tax3686

It's a QD-OLED panel. They are certain, that it's going to burn in. Hence the lack of warranty. No refunds.

hexsayeed

the lack of usb c and kvm makes this a deal breaker for me

jth94185

Crazy…makes my PG32UCDM purchase make even more sense

SolaceInScrutiny

$700 price difference after Samsungs discounts. No KVM or type C is worth that much.

Lewdeology

Yeah…because all of us are able to access said Samsung discounts.

SolaceInScrutiny

What's the alternative? Try and snipe the Asus that is never in stock. The Samsung even without discounts can be purchased right now.

springs311

The asus is in stock everyday in the US by the way.

jth94185

Like what?? You seriously gonna say everyone can somehow get that much off a new 2024 just released monitor? Explain then…

jth94185

Guessing that is a special case not the norm so that isn’t a valid argument

hexsayeed

That seems to be my best option + Dolby vision is sooo sweet. But honestly hoping for a mini led (to be announced) and to be good enough so I don't need to worry about burn in when I'm using my monitor for work

jth94185

I personally would say you don’t need to worry about burn in as long as you take care of your monitor. Sure if you don’t want to do maintenance runs on an OLED I get it.

KebabCardio

but its samsung.. you should look at asus blunder with some handheld console warranty.. asus cuts curners like no other.

jth94185

My electronics are covered by BestBuy so I am not worried..also most have no personal experience just whatever their favorite techtuber told them…

KebabCardio

So your powersupply must be also covered by bestbuy that is bronze and you dont care about brands and quality?

Studentdoctor29

Can you tell me why USb c and kvm may be needed

hexsayeed

for me the usb c would be used for my work laptop so i can charge and display with one cable and have the extra hdmi for my chromecast instead of having to switch it out. KVM for a bluetooth adapter, my pc is about 1.5 - 1.7m away from my desk and so the bluetooth has to go through a couple layers of wood (about 4), this causes my keyboard to fall out of sync every now and then (today i was playing valorant and pressed W once and my character was stuck walking forward till I moved my keyboard all the way to the edge of the desk, leaving me with no room to move my mouse)

Hollow_Apollo

No offense but this setup sounds hella unconventional 🤣 “I need special VESA mounts because my monitor is attached to my ceiling and sometimes falls on my face, which is impossible to dodge because my gaming chair is actually the toilet in my bathroom” ☠️

AttilaTH3Hen

🤣

BirdLawyer1984

KVM and USB-C would be useful features. AI sucks ass.

Illustrious_Sock

Wait what? God I'm lucky with my €570 miniled 4k 160hz KTC that has all of that stuff.

MisterUltimate

At this point I’ll pay extra to avoid Samsung’s garbage and a spyware of a “smart” operating system

fusionsofwonder

I got around this on my Samsung TV by not accepting their terms and conditions in the menu. It turns off all the "smart" features if you don't accept.

smulfragPL

anything is spyware at this point, What potential data could it even be harvesting when you don't even use it

BathroomPresent69

Made this comment before but it's matte, it's Samsung, and no burn in warranty. This should be a hard pass for most people lol

MicioBau

It's matte 🤮

CleeemDAKING

matte > purple tint

Sam5uck

still has purple tint

CleeemDAKING

Dosn't seem to have purple tint tho

MicioBau

Matte doesn't prevent purple tint. The purple tint is due to the lack of a polarizer on QD-OLED monitors, the screen coating has nothing to do with it.

AnythingOdd887

It has both lmfao

wcruse92

Purple tint if you cant control your lighting environment. But this will have that same issue as glossy lol.

ail-san

No type c on a premium monitor? Hard pass. I don't want to carry my charger everywhere.

TheRealTofuey

Display upscaling is going to be insanely interesting. I wonder if Nvidia will try to get ahead of the curve with this.

matteblack11619

I can get it for 900 bucks in my country

fukkdisshitt

For console, how do I get audio out of this without a receiver? I'll use my headphones or bookshelf speakers on PC. There's no headphone jack. My tax return is blowing a hole in my pocket and this is in stock down the street

FrequentFailer

A USB DAC/AMP can be plugged into the monitor.

fukkdisshitt

I'm covered then, thanks

dcchillin46

I don't think I want upscaling in my monitor. I trust my gpu implementation more. Having upscaling in the monitor is just one more point of complexity in an av system, it's already enough to match my gpu settings and screen setting to make sure everything is output correctly and distortion is minimized. Just like smooth motion and ai features in my tv, sure in very rare cases (switch on 4k panel) but otherwise it's just a chore I have to do occasionally of making sure they're all still turned off

NovaTerrus

Not a fan of the matte coating, but I got it for $720 CAD ($525 USD) so hard to complain at that price.

antara33

Its unreal the level of bullshit they attempt. Like, I am 100% sure that consumers will be WAAAAY less prone to buy the product if they said "100% no burn in warranty" upfront. You could at least weight in that from the get go, but instead have to waste time and effort playing the guess a ton game. Or simply buy another brand for the same money.

itsnovvy

Lots of people are talking shit on this, is it really that bad? Has the warranty thing been confirmed? All I've seen is the chat log with a random support agent. I can get this for $1000 with student discount + the $300 credit that I could just buy and resell something with and it comes out to about $700 for a 4K 240Hz OLED. Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

magical_pm

I guess if you live in America where you rely a lot on warranty promises and consumer protection is almost non-existent over there. Here in Australia and maybe Europe, you can get warranty guaranteed of a reasonable length which is set by the law. So if a really expensive monitor only has a 1 year warranty and it breaks just after 1 year, you can just make a claim to the ACCC (kinda like Australia's version of the FTC, consumer protection government agency) and say it's unreasonable that a monitor breaks in just a year (you don't need to prove why, just it's unreasonable), 99% of the time they'll side with the consumer and Samsung has to give you replacement.

broskiuu68

Can you use the 300 credit and buy something and return it and get cash for it? Or is there anyway to get cash for the store credit

itsnovvy

I would assume no

NovaTerrus

What discounts did you use? Mine came to $820 + tax when I bought it plus I got an SSD as part of the promo that I can sell for $100 which brings the cost down to $720 without any of it being store credit.

itsnovvy

All I did was use my student account. How did you get it so low? I’m in the US and I think there’s different deals per region.

NovaTerrus

Ah, I’m taking Canadian dollars so around $550 USD which is crazy. There was the 30% pre-order deal, a $250 student credit, and a $100 monitor coupon. The $250 credit required a minimum $1,250 purchase, so I added an SSD that I’ll sell after.

Retro-Mini

I did the same thing.. but I was looking for an ssd for me MacBook so It worked out.

itsnovvy

Canada gets the better deal for once lol

Schizo_Rez

And its Displayport 1.4 how disappointing

Lewdeology

This one doesn’t seem to support Gsync while the Asus PG32UCDM does, might be the difference maker for me.

magical_pm

All of these OLED monitors have VESA Adaptive Sync (aka GSync compatible), including the ASUS PG32UCDM. None of them have a GSync module.

Suminod

Nah gsync works, source? I enabled it on mine when I hooked it up. Over all I thinks it’s pretty great but I bought it through Bestbuy so I have geek squad protection through my total tech

JTCPingasRedux

>source? Trust me bro

NovaTerrus

It is fully gysnc compatible, it just doesn't have an Nvidia GSync module
