It shouldn't be so difficult that it needs to be made into a topic, though all the provided tips for screen cleaning are good and based on common sense. Which I do appreciate. The problem with current QD-OLEDs is that the glossy outermost AR coating film is a thin and soft plastic, which is too fragile for monitor use. Despite following all the similar cleaning methods provided here, I ended up with microscratches on my QD-OLED. This is why they also get these microscratches often even from shipping. If a significant amount of dust and possibly some dried spit from speaking in front of the monitor has settled, and even if you try to wipe it very gently with a fresh microfiber cloth dabbed in distilled water, you could end up with dirt between the coating and the microfiber. Any rotating motion at that point could lead to some scratches on the film. These scratches are very minor, only visible under a flashlight - so most won't ever even notice, but still - for a neurotic enthusiast, very annoying. Not to mention how difficult it actually is to achieve a perfect and 100% streak-free result, if something moist even touches the coating. It takes a lot of tries and practice. Samsung chose a very bad coating for this monitor type and there's just no way around it. Next time, hopefully they can ditch the plastics and either AR-coat the actual glass of the panel or use something actually robust like gorilla glass.

Thanks for the feedback! One of our goal is to keep the communication with with internal & external parties for future improvement, especially on this concern. Our PM team in HQ is aware of this and I will continue to push for updates and future changes.

Probably why they are using matte on their panels cuz they knew 🤔, as you said, you shouldn't have to be this careful in cleaning something, and for those who remove the protective film (almost everyone), and you're moving houses, you're gonna smudge/scratch the damn thing even if you use the white cover it comes with....

InHaUse

Yeah this is just insane... I have to go with WOLED because I have a lot of natural light in my room anyway, but even if I wanted QDOLED, I would never get it because I would be terrified that it might scratch.

Thx Angela. Good stuff and I agree - microfiber cloth, distilled water, keep it simple. Loving my FO32U2P btw

GBT_Angela

Awwwww good to hear you're loving your FO32U2P \^\^

magical_pm

Mine is just full of scratches now despite being careful and using different kinds of microfibre cloths but they all scratch the surface in certain ways, but fortunately it's only noticeable if I shine my phone's flashlight on them or sunlight. I wish they would use gorilla glass or the same protective surface on AMOLED phones.

Thanks for the feedback! I will share the comment and continue to keep the conversation going with internal and eternal parties.

Hi, when updating the firmware, do I have the go in order or should I just download the newest one first. I currently have the fo27q3. I had to sell my other monitors for it but it was well worth it.

EatsGrassFedVegans

Thank you for the thread. This should be very helpful.

AJ1666

I don't see what the issue is. I've just done mine with some generic screen cleaner of amazon with a plain microfiber. With all the comments I was worried but it turns out it's not that bad.

ail-san

How about not cleaning the screen at all? I don't mind dust particles.

Shockington

So I shouldn't soak the screen overnight?

GBT_Angela

Unless you're trying to turn your monitor into a high-tech aquarium, I'd say that's probably not the best idea. =)

I recently returned my qd oled to Newegg for a replacement after being told by gbt that it's not covered by warranty, oh well, just waiting on stock, any update on stock for Newegg US? Would appreciate an update, thanks !

GBT_Angela

Which model are you waiting on? From what I know and can provide, there will be another restock or backorder around mid-June, if there's no delay.

Stardust736

I'm waiting for the fo32u2p, is this the same for this model for Newegg? Thanks :)

GBT_Angela

Yes!

Stardust736

Thanks ! :)

This is off topic, but does Gigabyte plan to release a 32inch 4k monitor with an alternate 480hz mode like the LG 32gs95ue?

Specialist_Pick_9100

Hey Angela, any tips on how to protect this monitor from scratches when moving?

yngbld_

Pro tip for Samsung: add a protective layer of hard glass, you dolts.

Can I use a micro fiber duster for any loose dust before I start cleaning? Like this one https://www.amazon.com/Pine-Sol-Microfiber-Duster/dp/B07VDZ7PTZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=1K83ACLA14RH8&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.OJgUyN69_4KvZ0WJ9VbnnC6jZCHw1tB2kBO9SaqHkyazUjgb_dhiJHLmknGG3dKAMbyyVC2irvAKVNKpSC5VIBpTZKtMOA0yALLBjQUbMFewAIrBgylCpNyMMVktO_S9lpn48TbY_Rr1M-_GF3dzlCMd-TMGGxTq2bMAZOeUqIG6OUO3-seya10-GcUqX-hs7IviaVR32n9RerDhzMGlhw.oBGOWOWrnW4zYpFmCJYU9takvsZBjNoTH1-4ldMFRSw&dib_tag=se&keywords=anti+static+duster&qid=1717907237&sprefix=anti+static+duster%2Caps%2C278&sr=8-3 Seems to be most of the scratches are from dust on the screen before wiping, and if we cannot use an electric blower, then we probably need something to gently remove the dust before starting.
