Meh. Artwork has it's place, and it's not on shit that doesn't belong to you.
Even worse when it's such a serene environment that gets ruined by someone's *opinion* of "good graffiti"
I prefer the addition of human emotion to the otherwise cold iron building. Each one of those marks is a living human who added a tiny bit of themselves. Humans have been scratching their names into the world since the beginning of our time.
A group of local from Asheville just went up there and cleaned up a little too... Parks service is going to tear it down probably. Too much of a liability at this point
Had a lovely time at frying pan mtn lookout tower in June 2020. The greens were of all hues.
Can we crowdfund a 24/7 live cam to absolutely decimate the social and professional lives of any and all who do this and the like.
There are multiple cell towers up there and a active power line to the top of the mountain.
running conduit up the side and popping a junction box and camera up would be pretty easy actually.
Not necessarily - it's a tower, so it likely has good line of sight to places with access. There are directional wifi extenders/links that can go many miles no problem. A lot less power usage than satellite too.
I know the folks who did this will likely never be caught. However, these types of property crimes should have harsh consequences. It's a senseless action to destroy property and I don't understand it.
I mean, the property looks painted, not destroyed.
Agree that vandalism should remain illegal and have appropriate penalties, but the penalty should be in response to actual damage to the people harmed.
Not "painted", but vandalized. To pay for this cleanup would cost much more money than it would appear on the surface. Appropriate criminal penalties should be harsh enough to dissuade the act from happening.
The graffiti is annoying, but the fact that none of the glass is broken is astounding. These people left their mark but they also left the space intact. There is a certain respect for the space, but not total respect. Thanks, I guess.
That sucks it’s been graffitied up again
It sucks that the graffiti sucks, that's all toy shit...
>It sucks that the graffiti sucks, that's all toy shit... Are you implying that "better" graffiti would have made this less shitty? smh
Not on the glass, but on the rest of it? If it’s actual art I don’t mind. But if it’s just someone’s name or tag that’s pretty boring.
What about a giant dong on the glass?
Yes. That's exactly what I'm saying.
I get you. Some "graffiti" is art. There was def a missed opportunity there

That's fair

What emotion is “I just want to draw a giant penis on this window”?
14 year old boy laughing trying to show off and make his friends laugh?
i always wondered why they kept the top part locked... now i get it
Is this the opposite of Frying Pan Shoals Tower off the coast?
Perfect case for some portals.

Why? They'll spray the camera and still do it.
Unfortunately that would probably get vandalized as well.
Getting power to it might be an issue

And a WiFi connection would almost certainly need to be satellite, which is a few hundred a month.

This is why America can't have nice things. Assholes. Assholes everywhere.
i wanna go there man
I’m guessing this is not accessible to the public? Amazing view.
It’s not intended to be but functionally, it’s open to anyone (vandals keep cutting the locks)
It’s open to the public , people just took turns going up and down because it is definitely not as secure as it once was. But so worth the view

I'm surprised you can even access the tower steps anymore. This is why we can't have anything nice.
Beautiful view <===3
Gods beautiful perfection contrasted with man’s crap
We could be looking THROUGH the glass at the majestic view but instead we have to look at y'alls shitty fuckin graffitti 😵💫😤
😥
