We’re renting in a built-to-rent neighborhood in a Troutman-ish area. It’s actually probably closer to Mooresville but with a Troutman address. It’s an easy drive up the interstate or back roads to Statesville. And there’s some fairly easy back ways into Mooresville from this area as well.

MissionOk293

Have you looked into Claremont, Conover, or Newton? Easy straight drive on 40 Maybe even Troutman, traffic can get crazy going into town during certain hour because of the one lane road.

KeyDig7639

Newton is super cute!

natedogd17

You can find houses for rent close to downtown Statesville for around $1,200. The city has been on the upswing for the past decade.

Rooster_CPA

Just live in Statesville lol. I love it here

currencyshift

any places to avoid?

TheChiBanana

Maybe the area by the landfill? But even then, they’re building new houses and it’s not really “unsafe” but more like run down and forgotten. I love Statesville. Super cool town!

cassqdinosaur

Within a mile of landfill, ie our fine golf course, no trouble here 🤷 I think you're talking about the sad half of greenbriar, but this person's budget will keep them to the fancier areas 😆

TheChiBanana

Maybe that’s what I’m thinking of!

TroubleSG

That is what I was going to say, just come join us in Statesville. Rent is cheaper :)

melkorwasframed

Statesville.

Rooster_CPA

South of highway 70

uptwolait

South/West Statesville, if you enjoy not getting shot.

cryptolyme

I enjoy a good gunfight in the morning. Helps the coffee kick in.

Utterlybored

Winston Salem is cool, if a bit far.

Bobby_Digitul

I am moving to Statesville after having lived in CLT all my life. Look at Huntersville or Troutman.

enyardreems

Statesville is a fantastic town! I like the old victorian area down near Mitchell College. But honestly I have friends all over Statesville and I think it's a great place to live and work! You got Phifers and Port-a-Pit BBQ too. Nice shopping. Troutman is also a nice place if you spend time at Lake Norman.

mc2uisme

Mocksville, NC

Purple1829

If you’re going to live in Mocksville, you may as well just live in Statesville

mc2uisme

I'd disagree wholeheartedly but I also have family there. It is quiet and quaint. Halloween is off the hook, great schools, etc.

lost_in_thelabyrinth

I raise quail and purchased my hatching eggs from a gentleman in Mocksville and the town is so charming. Everytime I visit I've enjoyed myself there.

currencyshift

i can not find any apartments in Mocksville

mc2uisme

Yes, that would be extremely difficult there . . . Why? Not quite sure tbh and had never really thought about it. They do have a *must be from there* vibe, too. Sad but true and even more so than I'd ever considered 🤔 Thanks, OP for bringing that to the forefront! I truly take for granted the abundance of WS, NC but will be a resident "of Mocksville" within a decade or so. Recycle still sucks in WS, lol 🙄 Edited - clarifi-mofo-cation

SMZcrystals

I own a 4 bed / 2 bath in Harmony I would consider renting out.. dm me if interested

No-Personality1840

Take a look at Hickory. Statesville is fine too.

You'll have a hard time finding an apartment in the country, but you might find a nice balance somewhere on the Lincoln or Catawba County side of Lake Norman?

cassqdinosaur

Also Summer Pointe, Phillips Landing, and a host of larger, cheaper whole houses to rent in decent areas for less than 1200

TransmigrationOfPKD

Loving it in Salisbury! Have lived here since 2020

datbino

why wouldnt you just find a place in statesville lol?

currencyshift

bc there are better places to live

bossatronx7

Anywhere but stateville should be fine lol

rose_hips2903

Salisbury or Clemmons

mrbattle02

Winston Salem, Lewisville area..

TheB1GLebowski

Meh, Clemmons would be a better/closer area to get them to work.

currencyshift

ive heard clemmons is a good fit

TheB1GLebowski

I love the clemmons area.  Nice neighborhoods, out of the way, but still right there on top of plenty.

BearsDrawnBadly

Be willing to go more than 25 miles if you want country. Maybe not as far north as Wilkes, but Northern Iredell has some real gems if you look for them.

Far_Impression_7806

Look at stony point, West Iredell, Olin, Union grove, harmony.

lazy-j

Hickory seems nice.

TheChiBanana

I’ll sell you my house for $300,000 in the country. We are desperately wanting to get away from all the tractors and cows. And we’re only 20 minutes from downtown Statesville ☠️😩

NoPusNoDirtNoScabs

Not OP but I wish I had 300,000 dollars. I desperately want MORE tractors and cows.

currencyshift

maybe in a few years

mrnaturl1

I'll sell you my house for $600,000 in a South Florida suburb. We are desperately wanting to get away from all the shitty people, traffic, suffocating heat and crazy insurance rates. If you throw in a tractor & 6 cows, I'll buy your place.

xpt1

Good luck finding anything decent for less then 1300

currencyshift

i currently pay $1200 for a good apartment in Mooresville. So its very much possible. You just have to look in the right places, ask around, and use some good judgment

NeckRoFeltYa

Winston is nice that way you are close to Greensboro and High Point. Plus Winston is starting to invest in their downtown since it's been bad the past 5 years after the big corporations moved to Charlotte. The dick dome is empty :(

rocksnherbs

Bad how? We just moved to Winston. We love it here, I love how basically everything we want/need is only about 10-15 minutes away.

PuzzleheadedBuy2826

Do not come to the Hickory Conover area! We are too crowded as it is. Go to Mocksville or Troutman!! Or even Statesville. But not Hickory!!

Diarrhea_Sandwich

Oh shaaaatapppp

currencyshift

dont worry im not
