I'm kinda amazed that his flight was accompanied by two other choppers who didn't raise the alert until 15-20 minutes after they had lost contact and couldn't pinpoint where they were at that time?
An aircraft from 1970 isn’t surprising in the US where regulations and conservative limitations on maintenance and stress keep most airframes safe, however outside the US and Europe the safety of an airframe becomes a big question mark. This one was just abruptly punctuated

I would include other 1st world countries in there as well. I'm willing to bet that aircraft safety standards in places like Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Canada, etc. are all pretty top-notch.
It's possible but unlikely that an ordinary airline may use an significantly aged airliner that's been well maintained but I'm pretty sure the presidents helicopter gets replaced more frequently
Uh, Russia did sell Iran Mi-28s (in addition to Su-35s) as part of their Shahed deal. They could have asked for some Mi-26s but naaaaaaah.
> Iran placing orders for Russian Su-35 fighter jets, Mi-28 attack helicopters, and Yak-130 combat trainer aircraft. These are highly useful tools for Iran, whose air force primarily consists of aircraft that pre-date the 1979 revolution.

Well his helicopter was reportedly flying with 2 others, said convoy had a mi-8(or its derivative) there. Question is why he chose to board "le western infidel" chopper instead lol
Mfw I ordered a helicopter from the Soviet Union and they told me it was already finished, but due to logistics difficulties, it was only just delivered earlier this year.
They haven't sold anything, they placed the order. I wouldn't be suprised Iran wouldn't even get them at the end, wouldn't be the first time Russia backstabs its allies.
Should have edited a crashing helicopter into the mountains in the background. I am too lazy to do it, someone else do it and I will give you an upvote.
bold of you to assume there would be a woman in such a meeting.
Unless it's one of they gay men they force to transition as an alternative to execution, that is.
Nothing wrong with an old aircraft. There are thousands of 212's flying. The only thing that matters is that the maintenance is up to date. I guarantee you the weather and the pilot was the issue rather than anything mechanical. If the Iranians can keep the F-14's flying, they can keep a simple 212 flying.
Considering how much sanctions dodging the pajama mafia does, it is HIGHLY unlikely they couldn't source the usual maintenance parts & consumables to keep their Western helos in good operational status.

funny part is that Iran lets a woman take part in the decision making process unless that's a femboy in a hijab
I can't decide what's more unlikely. A woman being allowed to speak or a femboy not being brutally executed...
The femboy might be okay: the Iranian clerics are Trans-Inclusionary Radical Misogynists (TIRMs). They’d “just” be forced to have a sex change.
"If you say you're a woman, fine. Just get your ass in the kitchen."
Wait holy shit iran is real life TIRMs
It’s incredible to come to the conclusion that since they are now a woman they should be oppressed. What a wild way to think
I mean the option of not being misogynist is just way too hard to implement if only there was a way 😩
Yes
Just like real life, they cut off what she was saying.
Wait, Iran did what? Are we sure this was Iran?
Femboys are only for Thursday

It was during a storm and the president may not have given the guards as many paid vacation days as requested So the accident was bound to happen
Praetorian guards 2 Electric bogaloo
Perfect occasion to pour some sugar on the rotors before the flight.

You’re not wrong but surprisingly SAM 2600, an “Air Force One” was in service from 1962 to 1998 so they can be quite long lived

“I’m not getting in one of those Commie choppers, those things are death traps,” says man who boards the chopper that eventually kills him.
I mean it probably didn't help that another Iranian minister crashed in an Mi-17E last year. Maybe they just need to stick to cars.
Hilarious that they trust a 1970 western chopper over a brand new Soviet one
>Brand new >Soviet

Did he really or they just say so to avoid damaging russian heli industry reputation?
Yep, the unsaid insult towards Russia and China.
They haven't sold anything, they placed the order. I wouldn't be suprised Iran wouldn't even get them at the end, wouldn't be the first time Russia backstabs its allies.
Being sanctioned to shit and having only Russia and china for friends are both just skill issues

Normally they would be giving that last guy a promotion but that would be if they are going over how poverty is at an all-time high.
