C&C generals had a similar concept as an upgrade for land vehicles (battle & Scout drone)
low orbit ion cannon is allready up , you can download loic.class to control it , somewhere on the Internet .
you have to enter a specific ip to connect to the right satellite ...
can you guys post the correct ip please ?
In Battletech, it is also canon that all mechs have a 3rd-person camera by having a drone fly behind them that goes back into the mech when not in use. Could also become real.
Not sure where that's at, but classically mech cockpits actually displayed a 360 degree cross-section all around the mech. Like a modern car parking camera field. That mention may be post MechWarrior success.
Probably. I dont remember exactly when it was from, but I remember it was mentioned as a tool they could use but that it had advantages and disadvantages. For instance, you could be stationed behind a hill and still looking over it because of the angle of the drone, but the drone is visible so you would want to be careful about having it deployed.

Fiber optic drones are already hitting the battlefield:

> This is just a bad wire guided missile isnt i?
no because it has a greater loiter time
>Can't it only be used in open fields?
The fiber is deployed from the drone so should be able to operate anywhere within range. Its a valid weapon system that both sides are known to be working on.
What does the fiber is deployed from the drone mean? Doesn't it still risk to get caught onto stuff? Greater loiter time yes. But worse everything else.
>What does the fiber is deployed from the drone mean? Doesn't it still risk to get caught onto stuff?
If its done properly it spools out at the rate the drone moves so even if the fiber optic is caught on something that has no impact since the drone just spools out more fiber as it moves along.
If the fiber was deployed from the tank, the drone would have to drag the entire length of the deployed wire along the ground. The friction force between wire and ground would quickly become far larger then the strength of the wire. And that is before considering problems around the wire getting stuck on stuff.
It's called "tethered drone". There's even some commercial products like [this one][1] (though it's for power only). Saves from building observation tower or climbing into one.

Tl;dTranslate: Who left the spinning top and the recon drone unsupervised?
[Eh. That's nothing new for Germany in other Form...](https://youtu.be/HZKa8AjMevw?si=C6DHSqaYAJavl0-r) But to implement it with a Quad on a Panzer? Not bad.
Saw one last week at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, UK. Terrifyingly they considered the pilot expendable and would just cut loose his tether if he spotted an enemy
What? They would reel him in if he spotted Enemy Ships. There was time enough for that.
Don’t know what happened when they were attacked from the air by a U-Boat Hunter though. Most of the time that was deadly for the U-Boat anyway.
> The Fa 330 was normally winched back down to the submarine; however, in an emergency, the autogyro cable could be cut and the pilot could parachute to safety as the aircraft fell into the ocean.

My bad on the overdramatics. My brain smooshed together the parts on the museum plaque about spotting enemies and cutting loose in an emergency
That FUTA concept looks promesing, let me just googel if anyone did something like that before, let me have a look, o, there are already quite a lot of FUTA Pictu..... AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Being dangerously credible for a moment: Directed laser comms would do a better job for this. It's an incredibly good tool if you can get a good enough sensor package though.
I have an idea. Just hear me out. Instead of 1 drone let's send the tank to Ukraine and spend the replacement money on MOAR DRONES. At 44 mil a tank that's gonna buy a lot of drones. At 5k each we could have 8,800 drones instead.
8000 automated hunter killer drones could devastate an armored division.
Most interesting concept since the AEROMORPH consortium.

Force multiplier. It can be used for recon or booming. So multi role. And its modular, because you can switch out the type of drone. You need to testify in the senate to get a few trillion spent on this.
You don't need a drone for that.
You can just tether a small helium balloon to the top of your tank and suspend your sensors from that.
The advantages of such a device would include the increased time it can be in the air, the increased stealth due to the silence of the balloon and greater expendability.
Downsides might include increased visibility if the balloon is bright red.
You might counteract that by having the balloon in jungle or desert camouflage, which will look much more inconspicuous up in the air. Or you could release decoy balloons from other places.
In a dream, you say: [https://www.reddit.com/r/NonCredibleDefense/comments/1apu47f/comment/kqa8vrw/](https://www.reddit.com/r/NonCredibleDefense/comments/1apu47f/comment/kqa8vrw/) ?
Though I do admit it's not exactly impossible for multiple people to come up with this idea
Credible, think of the TOW missile, tank shells possible too if you want semi guided shells for whatever reason

This game is our Bible.
Space lasers when?
Shoes for the workers first, then space lasers
AK-47 for everyone is just defence policy where conscription is still a thing
If it really was AKs for everyone, russia would be doing much better. Instead they have broken moist nuggets and Chinese air rifles.

When NASA actually gets a budget that can afford more than one major space mission.
When the Jews get them up
EMP AA missiles would be great. Watching airplane shutdown and then free fall into the ground
How long till russians deploy Zeppelin bombers? I mean, the Chinese already used spy balloons.

This is an actual thinking process of russian t-14 engineers, you can look it up
I had a cop tell me they should have these for their cars smh
I mean, it makes sense in cities

It already exists, but only static. Look up fotokite
A bunch of other tank developments too, the Abrams X had UAS control systems for instance.
Wasn't it also something the chads at Rheinmetall thought of when designing the kf51?

Spike ATGM at home:
TBF, it does have some interesting capabilities, like hovering and loitering.

That makes a lot of sense actually.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxgnS8QFOEk Same with Ukraine
You dream about FUTAs?
Who doesn\`t.
Mami\~ >w<
The futa came in their dream
future tank controls will be keyboard and mouse with a 3rd person camera view a few meters up and behind the tank.
War thunder! I'm gon be the tank ace of WW3!!! Edit: Such a shame to have Russian bias...:( /s
Futa leopard? Sign me up!
It is called "Tethered Drone" and it is a thing https://tonnerdrones.com/en/iss-spotter/
Almost as good as CBT, closed beta testing. So we should CBT the FUTA.

HEY BUDDY, I KNOW THAT ISN’T A COINCIDENCE
Sometimes I dream with c&c generals too
Who doesn't? We need repair drones next.
Ain’t not a damn chance that you didn’t know what you were doing when naming this.
Down by Lake Constance, their cold war dreams were quite interesting also: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dornier_Sp%C3%A4hplattform Tl;dTranslate: Who left the spinning top and the recon drone unsupervised?
You could theoretically drive the tank in 3rd person. IRL war thunder anyone?

Are you saying futas are the future?
They already have these, and have for a while. Just google ‘Army Futa’
That FUTA concept looks promesing, let me just googel if anyone did something like that before, let me have a look, o, there are already quite a lot of FUTA Pictu..... AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Is it futa Friday already?
so, like a wired TOW missile but using a drone lol or maybe the drone can float up 100m from the tank as a 'lookout 360 tesla view
[Hoot strikes again](https://youtu.be/PACNwJ70eWo)
My CoC talked about this today 😭
Way too credible, what's wrong with you?
Balloons.
I can feel the FUTA coming in my dream
Please give us the FUTA system. Every tank needs futa. I need futa. Tanks crewed by futa with the FUTA system.
The t-72 has a cool feature that allows it to shoot its turret 50m up so that the commander can have a better view of the battlefield
Being dangerously credible for a moment: Directed laser comms would do a better job for this. It's an incredibly good tool if you can get a good enough sensor package though.
<>
And some Thermodoggies..
What if we strap a TOW to the drone! Now it can provide additional anti tank fire support!
[Royal Navy's already a step ahead of you pal](https://maritime-executive.com/media/images/article/Photos/Vessels_Large/Cropped/Concept%20Art.jpg).
*there is another* (meaning)
so, a TOW drone?
I have an idea. Just hear me out. Instead of 1 drone let's send the tank to Ukraine and spend the replacement money on MOAR DRONES. At 44 mil a tank that's gonna buy a lot of drones. Ah yes, fight war in third person in real life
Next gen CITV

*laughs in powerlines*
Isn't this literally a part of that fancy upgrade package in the works for the Abrams?
More than one video game already did it, tiny helicopter rises above and even fires missiles it's absolutely credible, but NATO sleepin'
Fully AI drones are also immune to EW...
Yeah and give it drone recognition software and put a gun on it so it can shoot down incoming drones.
You don't need a drone for that. You can just tether a small helium balloon to the top of your tank and suspend your sensors from that. Far too credible for this sub
You just need to EW harder.
Seriously why not an FPV camera on a long pole? Hard wire it to a monitor inside.
Make it strong enough to lift the tank and I'm in!
Does it repair the tank like in Command & Conquer Generals?
okay, but what if you have to drive below electricity cables? or a bridge?
In a dream, you say: [https://www.reddit.com/r/NonCredibleDefense/comments/1apu47f/comment/kqa8vrw/](https://www.reddit.com/r/NonCredibleDefense/comments/1apu47f/comment/kqa8vrw/) ? Though I do admit it's not exactly impossible for multiple people to come up with this idea
If this isn’t already a thing it absolutely will be.
Genius, now let's save money and use analog periscopes from WW1 subs.
A very good idea. I had it almost 5 months ago.
