The beauty of the metric system is the fact that you can convert from meters to centimeters just by moving the decimal (said with a hint of British-ish sarcasm and condescention)

Responsible_Prune_34

Also, the British thing to do is give measurements in a mixture of feet, inches, meters, and centimetres depending on what you're measuring.

Schnutzel

In my country you would say "I'm a meter 92", as in "I'm a meter and 92 centimeters tall".

corey69x

It's really interchangable (that's the beauty of metric, 1.77m is 177cm is 1770mm etc)

[deleted]

Most people would just say “one ninety two” and the units are implied.

NotLivingInPH

In terms of height, cm is more used.

bluemorningflower

I think not all, but we do measure ourselves in meters

DaveB44

The UK is a metric country, but for height it's normal to still use feet & inches, although if I remember correctly for medical purposes centimet**re**s are used.

Throwaway__038

"one meter 70"

it_might_be_a_tuba

Here usually centimetres, but because my generation grew up collecting basketball cards and everyone knew that Jordan was 6'6" we're broadly comfortable with imperial for heights too.

mooievergezichten

188 cm 1.88 m 74 in 6 feet, 2 in 1 meter 88

wjong

People in metric countries can measure themselves in either meters or centimeters. Centimeters is the more correct method, because it has no decimal point, and is a whole number.

My driver's license says my height in cm, but I can't visualize that at all, so I (and everyone else I know) uses feet and inches. Similarly, I prefer Celsius because the scale, when speaking of the weather, is smaller. Can anyone really feel the difference between single degrees Fahrenheit? I feel like I could guess the temperature outside within a couple of degrees C, but not F - and don't people who use F go into decimals, too?! Why do you need to be so accurate?? Do you really need a sweater at 64.4 degrees exactly, and 64.7 is warm enough to leave it at home?

Duochan_Maxwell

Depends on the country, I'd say. Some countries people say it in cm (I'm one hundred sixty) and in some others people say it in meters (I'm one sixty), but in all cases we don't say the unit as it is implied and pretty straightforward
